I feel like #primal is more likely to blacklist me further, than to actually give me what I've paid for.

The idea of WoT for apps to install is interesting.

A lightning wallet that adds a little more than the routing fee to the payment fee and allocates it towards a mining fee for channel closing budget would go a long way.
Opening a channel (to a different channel partner) batched in the same transaction as closing a channel would help a lot.
None of those improvements require soft forks.
It'll make real skill much rarer and harder to find, like how a very skilled father, if he's not a good teacher, can end up with very incompetent sons.

FYI, I've used and (mostly) loved the Markdown editor on the Peakd interface to the Hive blockchain (originally Steemit dot com, but the bulk of the community forked to Hive dot blog).
I've created and maintained a hierarchical library of my writing there for years. One of my favorite Peakd features is the ability to intermittently work on drafts before actually posting. Markdown support is the best I've personally experienced. The editor has a WYSIWYG mode, but I haven't used it...
I THINK sources for that editor should be available? It's been very robust for years, and it seems to me it shouldn't be too difficult to add parsing for npubs, notes, and etc...🤔

4. Frost2x - v0.1.1-alpha

another point to bear in mind is that typically signature verification for clients is maybe 1/4 as fast as binary imlementations, at best... so it means a lot of initial processing when first setting up a new login

Yes and no.
The relays? Yes. But, they could use work to make them easier to spin up and admin.
The NDK? That's the next focus of the team at @nprofile…xkmf with the Aedile SDK. This is necessary for the expansion and reliability of the #Alexandria project, especially as that expands into the fullness of the current development path to integrate publishing with communities utilizing the massive interoperability afforded by the nostr protocol.
Seems to keep happening if people use their key in different places. That's why I'm still afraid to do so. I only use new keys to play around. I hope we can fix this issue until then nostr can't live up to its full potential.

The current NDK (nostr dev kit) that is widely used to build clients is just bad.
The two most popular relay implementations choke under loads that cannot scale past too much more use than they currently get.
There are coming solutions for the NDK. (Chucking in the dumpster for better tools that are being written by people who have a clue how to build useful infrastructure.)
Several relay devs have already built vastly superior relay implementations that can and will scale 10x and beyond.

That's not the case. My team can publish a lexicon, but we cannot go back and delete a published lexicon from the network in a way that invalidates existing data and breaks compatibility. The NSID control mainly extends to publishing new versions or making non-breaking changes, and that's all. It does not grant the power to retroactively delete already published versions that are in use.
Basically once a lexicon is published and in use by various folks and things (PDSs, App Views, Relays, client applications) then the team that initially created it no longer has sole control over its existence within the broader ecosystem.
It's a name that makes it clear that the community = a key pair. That's all I care about. Users will never see this name. To them it's a community.

it's based on two things about how tags and filters work
1. single letter tags are indexed so finding them is fast and selective
2. the match on the second field (all elements after [ "#x", "<value>", ... ] are prefix matches, whatever your <value> is, it matches if the candidate event tag has that same prefix.
i don't know if that is explicitly stated in the NIP-01 spec but that's how fiatjaf implemented it in Go for go-nostr.
so, yes, it enables precisely this kind of thing, where you have general -> specific segments of the tag string. Tag strings are limited to 100 characters but that is plenty for concise multi-segment values.

There is no Official Lexicon Committee. ATProtocol Lexicons are much more decentralised that Nostr NIPs and Kinds (at least in the current PR and merge context). Any ATProtocol dev team can just create a lexicon shrink-wrapped to that team's already well-formed application design. Any other team can use that lexicon. Groups are free to get together to discuss lexicon norms before embarking on similar projects. Lexicons can't be deleted. Lexicons are backwards and forwards compatible. Any one lexicon can reference any definition in any other lexicon in an open manner.
It makes sense that it's a better thought out system. The team that designed lexicons had years of painful experience trying to clean up interop messes with SSB (very much resembling the interop messes we have on Nostr now) and this is their fresh "take two". Nostr is repeating many of the mistakes of SSB and now what we're seeing is lots of suggested ways to fix these mistakes, most of which are evolutionary steps towards the ATProtocol lexicon system anyway—so why not just skip up the evolutionary ladder and import the whole finished system? At least that's my take.
I prefer kinds precisely because they're sort of vague, and there are so many numbers free to choose from. They give relay admins and client devs control over what they display. That should be a conscious choice. We added in more clarify with m/M, and gave people the ability to characterize their events and figure out "what is this", and we have kind 1111 comments, now, but that shouldn't replace the development freedom allowed by kinds.
People complaining about there being too many kinds, so everything should be Kind 01 and we just use a lexicon, are sort of missing the whole point of the protocol: that it frees the users, but it also frees the developers.

Maybe. I don't know. It's a long and detailed list that a small group of people manages, which is already a nightmare with the NIP repo. As soon as you want to build something new, that isn't on the Lexikon list, everyone refuses to host your events and the Official Lexikon Committee can completely censor your development.
The Lexikon also demands the use of MIME types, like in our "m" tag.

@nprofile…s2s2 's post about broken follow list yesterday made me notice odd behavior in my own follow list. Unable to follow and unfollow people. Turns out there was a random client tag that had somehow snuck into the list and was causing most clients to error (silently) when trying to update my list.
I think all nostr devs need to up their defensive coding game. We have to assume that we're going to be sent malformed (and even dangerous) data and handle it gracefully.
In order to find 30040s, for instance, you could say, please filter for all metadata events, or filter for all metadata events that are indexes, or filter for all metadata events that are indexes and replaceable, and get a narrower set of results with each step.
M: meta-data/index/replaceable
You could do the same with articles or notes or etc. It creates nested categories.
The idea comes from @npub1fjq…leku and I thought it was brilliant and immediately added it to my Sybil-created events.
Have a single-letter tag means you can filter for it, on the relay, in stages.

@nprofile…ky6k where are you guys tying kinds to content types (besides in the event itself)? Got some table somewhere?
The need for something like that is super clear, but I think the lexicon method solves this better than any sort of 'kind 1a' solution. A lot of things on ATProtocol I'm not so keen on, but lexicons I think are great, and that method (if not the name) will become the global standard for decentralised interop.
To adapt that system to Nostr would require some tweaks on the resolve and record-storage side, but the main thing is that as a framework for decentralised interop it just makes so much more sense.

We are permissionless, so the client dev can define what he'll tolerate, for himself.
Our clients include "m" and "M" tags, in addition to tags, and we can filter for those. They're more useful than kinds, without breaking from normal Internet standards.

Lol, that kind of sums it up. That would never happen on ATProtocol, there would be an immediate schema validation fail.
there is actually a new spec for a CRDT style atomic add/remove scheme but not many implementations yet
part of the reason is that client devs are not the sharpest knives in the drawer and instead of only one request and all is in one event, the clients have to parse every event from the user of this CRDT type and then assemble each pubkey into a list
in other words, it would probably make web clients especially, slower
but every other kind of client is using a language that wouldn't be as slow at dealing with it
some people also worry about consistency of the data, in that "they might miss something" for some random reason some unfollows might not be found and so on and so forth
i think the real solution is to have a compact fingerprint for nostr:npubs and a distributed registry of npub<->fingerprint and then you can pack them down to like 16 hex characters instead of the current 64
i'm pretty damn sure that SHA256 hash, truncated to 8 bytes is never going to see two nostr:npubs get the same fingerprint anyway... put it this way, the index in fiatjaf's event store just truncates the raw pubkey for the index
there is a ginormous number of values in 64 bits, it's 19 digits long in decimal, and SHA256 specifically is known for having a very low collision rate
