If you are measuring it that way then I think we may have passed the top. I think recently as the overreach has become bigger and more prevasive a greater number of people are starting to imagine a world without without the micromanagement of the state.

I hate having to write negative performance reports.

By profitable I do not mean running a business but just not losing sats by running it.
There are costs in opening and rebalancing channels and you would need to be routing a sufficient number of transactions to cover these costs.
But as you ended by saying "ain't no body got time for that" perhaps this is just a level of complexity I should not delve in to and I should just rely on a private channel to a LSP.

That is exactly right.
I have just found my experience with nostr interesting. Feeling the pull to check for a notification. It's a long way from addiction but I can see how the pattern could emerge and have been thinking quite a bit about it. Asking myself how is the best way to intergrate this tool productively and mindfully into my life?
How can I use it it a way that adds maximally and detracts minimally?
The same questions we should be asking ourselves with anything.
And to answer your PS I am personally very good but I do worry about the state of my country. It certainly feels that we are globally on the cusp of or in the midst of a great transition. I am hoeful that on the other side of this turmoil will be a better world.

I enjoyed having a very small follow list because I felt like I knew everyone on it but the spam has me thinking that I really need to boost my follow list up with some real people before it's all bots and spam.
I hope lists on mobile get integrated better so I can easily create a small list of my favorite posters and then a lot of followers to build WoT.

Interesting how you have keys in a citizen card. I have not heard of anything like that here. I was thinking more along the lines of my bitcoin/nostr keys which are generated locally and not transmitted anywhere.
And a key difference as well is that only 50% of your population vote. Here in Australia voting is compulsory so we do not have that same problem that you speak of. Using this system they would seemingly not even have to leak who had not voted ad the keys that voted would be public.

I think it is easy to quickly dismiss ideas such as this as never being possible in reality but you have summed it up here:

When the internet was first released the idea that every person would have to have an email to navigate modern life was easy to dismiss as too complicated. But as technologies become ubiquitous we begin to wonder not how it could be that everyone could possibly all use these new technologies but rather how it could be that they ever went without them.
Faith in democracy is diminishing quickly. It is up for debate if that is a good thing or a bad thing however if faith in democracy is to be restored it is likely to be through an open technological solution like this.

Rather than paying for relays could we use HODL invoices to allow us to post?
Then if we are spammers or bots the transaction can be completed by the relays thus claiming funds.
This still allows free relays for good faith users but adds a cost to spammers.

Yes absolutely.
But it does not even have to be quite as dark as that.
I think society has failed to provide a culture built on a cohesive and productive moral framework. Our values have been so eroded. At one point to be a good average person in your community meant going to church on sunday and now it means aborting your unborn children because it is good for the planet.
On an individual level I do not see the average person who seeks to be good as the face of evil. I see them as a weak or unthoughtful person who has been caught in the tide of a corrupted and destructive culture.

I would again emplore you to read the book or at least the chapter I have linked earlier. All of these most common questions are answered.
I will post here the relevant section discussing this point:
"“But how could a poor person afford private protection he would have to pay for instead of getting free protection, as he does now?” There are several answers to this question, one of the most common criticisms of the idea of totally private police protection. Here are a few questions you can ask yourself.
1. Do you think someone would be more or less likely to break into a house or attack someone if they assumed they were armed?
2. In general what provides better service and efficiency, private business or government services? Why would policing be any different?
3. Police are just a group of people. Why is this group uniquely able to provide security and another group would not? Why would we assume that police can offer this service better than every other possible group of people?
The concept of a world without government seems impossible at first but the more you think about it the more you realise that all the arguments for government quickly fade away.
The biggest criticism is that we would just end up where we are now with one monopoly in control but that hardly seems like an argument against anarchism as even in that worst case scenario we end up only exactly where we are now.
For" a New Liberty" is very in depth but if you want a succinct overview of Rothbard's view of the state then I would recommend reading the 60 page "Anatmy of the State" as a good starting place.

I will have a closer look at minibits thanks for the recomendation. I have it installed but never really played around with it.
It seems most bitcoiners seem so scared of being called a 💩coiner that they won't discuss the merits of monero. I do think it's telling that it is the coin of choice for dark net markets. Some may say bitcoins lack of privacy is not a concern but with increasing control exerted by the state I think it is crucial to think about.
The other problem is people being so scarred by fighting over the blocksize that to many discussions on what changes could be beneficial seem off limits.

Thanks for the detailed reply.
I am using WoS with nostr but I have recently set up an alby hub which is what had prompted me to do a deeper dive and understanding of lightning.
Currently my thinking is the best balance is a custodial solution like WoS for receiving and then your own node for larger balances you wish to hold on lightning without the rug risk.
That provides you a level if privacy hiding in the masses of a custodial app and reduces the number of parties who know your own node details to one large custpdian rather than everyone you share a lightning invoice with. Sending from your own hub is OK since sender privacy is better than receiving.
But I am only a week into this learning journey so maybe I have it all wrong 🤷‍♀️
Certainly a lot to learn.
Ecash might have to be next on the list.

The transacrion was sent from Wallet of satoshi but was sent to my own lightning node. I am just not sure if this level of fees is normal for lightning or if it is high.
I am also wondering if it is due to the default LSP that I was connected to and if I would be better off opening my own channels.

Is self custody ⚡ #Lightning LESS private than ⛓️ #Bitcoin?
I am learning about lightning and had the impression that it was more private than on chain but maybe that is not the case.
If I recieve on chain bitcoin and generate a new recieve address each time no one is able to connect these transactions to eachother and no one is able to determine my total balance of bitcoin. If I recieve some KYC bitcoin the address that this KYC bitcoin is sent to has been KYCd however all past and future generated addresses are not affected.
In contrast every lightning invoice contains my node public key. By looking at a single lightning invoice you are able to determine if any past or future invoices were sent to me meaning only one transacrion needs to be KYCd for every other recieve to be linked to me.
On top of this it is possible to not only see total channel capacity but through probing determine my current balance of sats.
Do I have something wrong or does recieving over lightning reveal more information than on chain?
