We inherited this dilapidated 1950s mechanic shop/general store/gas station when we acquired our property. We’ve just recently started clearing it and the surrounding area. It was converted into a living area/ceramics shop sometime in the 70s and then abandoned in the 90s. Currently a treasure trove of some really weird shit.
Plans are for a workshop and seed starting/greenhouse area. Also considering a public sales area for the farm as it’s located roadside.

Go with a plain jane to start. Depending on how good your honey is (whatever the bees got into), might even be all you want.
One Gallon of Mead
3lbs Honey
2g yeast
2oz chopped raisin
8oz black tea
Heat water to 100° F, dissolve honey, toss in your raisins and tea (raisins as a yeast nutrient, tea for tannins. Both add a little flavor).
Cool to 70° F and add hydrated yeast.
Finish ABV should clock around 15% if you use a champagne yeast.
Ferment for 2 weeks, rack and rest 8 weeks. Bottle and rest for at least 2 weeks.

It would have been impossible for me to have met my spouse without the internet. Without, we would have never known each other existed. We were on different hemispheres. No common connections IRL. Good news, finally. Power returned last night. We will spend the day pushing remaining resources to our peoples still in need.

Losing the bored well really could have been a big set back if water storage and a second open well hadn’t been available. Farms/households just can’t cope without water. A creek was our final fall back option and luckily not needed.

It wouldn’t be as teasable, if I used a single storage option, but I lean towards portability in case travel is necessary. Several 100lb portable propane tanks and six 5 gallon containers for both non-ethanol and diesel.

Confirmations and failures: event still ongoing.
-FRS radios are insufficient for communication within community. Not enough HAM operators to make use of locally. Boosted CBs seem the likely solution for my situation.
-my supply of gas/propane was indeed not as ridiculous as I was teased about prior to this event. 😜
-more chainsaws. more chains.
-dual fuel lanterns/stoves are invaluable.
-battery banks were insufficient.
-food stores/resources on hand were more than adequate.
-security and vehicle access seems adequate. Luckily not fully tested, but vigilant.
-water redundancy was crucial. Lost a well head at the onset. Open well and water storage proved necessary.
-additional generators needed. Had one fail almost immediately.

Had a dream that I took MDMA at a music festival in Oslo. I time travelled and met a guy when he was 7, again at like 15, again in his 20s, and then again at the music festival when was 40.
