Nice overcast morning for removing some poison hemlock. We’ve done this every year for the last three and our pastures which were neglected for decades by previous stewards are nearly clear. Some of these tap roots are 18 inches or longer.

I keep a 2-3 inch layer of shredded papers (all that junk mail put to work) on top. If it gets too bad, a light coating of diatomaceous earth will help. Also bulk feed once every two weeks instead of continuously.

Little encouragements go so much farther than being pushy, I’ve found. And.. if all else fails, usd payments are easily converted. Given that for now you’ll need usd for monthly expenses anyway, bitcoin is best used as the farm’s treasury.

Happened over the course of several interactions. We approached them with filling our feed orders and payment in bitcoin was turned down. When we were approached by them for chicks, ducks, and rabbits for their store, we requested payment in bitcoin.
Offered a lower price than anyone else in the area could (due to our conviction) and then when it was accepted, walked them through their first transaction.
Now it’s just understood that payments will be in bitcoin. Not entirely sure if this is the case with their other customers. I’d imagine we are an oddity.

Honestly.. I’m relieved for the sincere interaction.
Food security and isolation were our main goals but we do provide for local sales of goats (6), ducks (15), chickens (30), rabbits (too many), and compositing worms (2 bins). Along with animal sales.. we also do eggs, honey (3 hives), plants, and worm castings.
We just relocated to 42 acres. Working on infrastructure for pigs and cattle this year. Will keep numbers low. No more than 4 each for slaughter each year.
I’m sure I’ve left out loads. Just coming in from the heat.
