I’m completely mind-blown by Laurie Anderson’s Oh Superman—written in 1981, it feels eerily prophetic, especially for today’s surveillance state. The line ‘You don’t know me, but I know you’ almost reads like an anthem for today’s crowd sourced panopticon. The sequence from love to justice, force, and finally ‘mom’ feels like a chilling progression toward the nanny state, with her long electric arms wrapping us up under their control. It’s incredible how this song speaks so deeply to our present world of technology, surveillance, and power. It’s tripping me out all weekend!! Just discovered she was married to Lou Reed too!

Sometimes Humans are Brilliant...
A random person who I do not know emailed me and offered me some books related to a most cherished passion I have for SACRED GEOMETRY
He saw some of my videos online and explained he was moving out of his house and needed to clear some space. I said yes, I'd love to become the custodian of his books. I thought he had a handful like 10 - 12 books and I wanted to be nice so I gave him my office address.
The next day I arrive at work and there are 5 boxes of the most outstanding sublime books going back decades. Obscure, esoteric first editions of all of my hero's were included in the boxes. He basically gave me his entire life's Library.....
I was so happy.... I couldn't believe it... it would take me years to find the treasure he delivered to me for free.
This collection of books is completely priceless to me..... I'm totally blown away by this persons generosity.
I reached out to say thanks and wanted to return the favour and offered him free invites to some courses and workshops. But he graciously declined in such a cool way and simply wrote back....
"Finding the best possible home for those books was the pinnacle of what I could have achieved and I have now very happily achieved that dream outcome. They have found their way to your path; that's all I want and nothing more. I'm very grateful for your extremely kind offer of a
complimentary membership to your community or a course, but, in olympic terms, I have passed my baton to yourself and I'm bowing out of the race."
What a cool act of kindness and what cool Human!!!

I've been thinking about the Irish real estate market and wanted to get your opinions. It seems to me that investing in real estate in Ireland over the past 17 years might not have been as profitable as it seems. When adjusting for inflation, house prices have experienced a real terms deflation of about 28.33%. In other words, the value of homes has decreased by nearly 28.33% in real terms from 2007 to 2024, despite a cumulative inflation rate of 27.91%.
Given this perspective, do you think investing in Irish real estate during this period was a poor financial decision? Or are there factors I'm missing that would paint a different picture? I'd love to hear your thoughts and any insights you might have on this topic. Maybe there's more to this story that I haven't considered.
I have read the price of tomorrow by @npub1s05…eyhe twice!! and absolutely love it. Inflation is 100% happening in Ireland but I am wondering if residential property is an exception to inflation?
To be clear prior to 2000, a home bought for 80k in 1980 was sold for 800k in 1998, so the same house had inflated by 10x. But this trend does not seem to continue over the last 17 years?
In this example I am picking a house price at the peak of the property boom in 2007 and tracking that price to today. So it is possible I am not measuring like for like?
