Hmm. I do have an iOS test device. I'll also ask my dev to look at it 😁
@nprofile…278z I broke it. Sorry.
Bahahaha you barely know I exist
Yup, that's exactly what happened. lol
nostr event created_at field is a Unix timestamp. A timestamp of 0 is I think Jan 1970, and negative before that.
Most likely the client is not parsing as an integer but unsigned integer, so a negative timestamp is treated as a very high timestamp (a lot in the future), which is always the newest event. Or some silly thing like that
listened to it, i see how it is then
Closed apps are free to check the Play Integrity API and we won't use them. @nprofile…nztg may have a way to circumvent it?
Google will try to tighten sideloading further, we'll see how far they reach without backlash, the Android open source community is not small.
Successfully unsuccessful. The timestamp was supposed to be for July 4th, 1776, not for September of 2048. 😂

Interesting! Exploit successful. Yaki now knows to handle the edge case.
WAT! LOL!
I thought that note didn't even get published to the relays, because every client I have tried won't even show it at all.
I hadn't tried YakiHonne...
So, the note has a timestamp that is a negative number. relay.damus.io gave me an error when I tried to publish it there with NAK.
I am on Coracle right now, and though I can see notifications for a few responses to the note, I cannot load the note at all. 😂
I'll leave it for a bit then pop over to YakiHonne and request deletion.

Game theory is weird on this one. 6102 is often mischaracterized as a seizure of assets. People gave up their gold willingly, because the real power of 6102 was to make gold unredeemable among the citizenry. Possible scenarios:
1. 6102 only applicable in US. Pointless, if there are countries that allow bitcoin free trade, especially if they sell asylum/citizenship for bitcoin.
2. 6102 is a global treaty among all nations where anyone would want to live. In this scenario, bitcoin becomes worthless as nodes and miners shut down, as everyone realizes the actual value of bitcoin was in its decentralization and its capacity for regulatory arbitrage.

That’s not what the law says. I’ve found plenty of unclaimed funds from the state taking possession from insurance companies and other financial institutions. Izt goes into a fund, and they collect interest on it, which of course they don’t pay you. The other big problem is, they don’t notify you when they collect it, so you have to check a website and submit a claim, which requires documentation. I definitely don’t trust their ability to do this with bitcoin.
No. The opposite.

Who, exactly, is doing that?
npub.world, fucking autocorrect
Perfect is the enemy of good.
All my friends are spaghetti arm devs
I actually really appreciate it 😅
Which npubs are nut jobs?
I'm begining to understand the importance of the Web of Trust. It's one thing to read about it, but quite another to use it in the real world. Powerful stuff.
I literally almost don't follow anyone back lol
@nprofile…jku2 already computes reputational scores based on follows, and it's already implemented in a few clients like @nprofile…tdq0, noun.world, @nprofile…cfn3 ...
Thinking more about this makes me more bullish on nostr. Cryptographically verifiable reputation is precious. We have the incentives and the means to value and protect it. #note1tme…4s3a
Knee-jerk follow-backs, I'm betting. Still, have to be more careful.
Forgot about that. Clients need to expose this.
Forgot about that. Clients need to expose this.
You can also use the 'retard list' function to ignore all follows from certain people, because even if you unfollow, if your follows still follow them, they'll get into the WoT
You love making us wait eh 😅
Give us a teaser
@npub1lun…27lj which communities NIP are you doing 😅
Glad to hear it.
Just checked, and still no update on the client side attached to this npub.
Yeah, the update is a complete rebuild with all the old stuff and a bunch of new stuff
Good to hear! Is satellite cdn still a thing?
Ive just been working on a big new release of Satellite. Still here!
This will be fixed in the coming update
Hey sorry I had to reboot the server, there was an int overflow error (months in the making apparently). I confirmed after reboot the server did pick up your paid invoices. Lmk please if you still don’t see them credited for some reason so I can credit your pubkey manually.
Also thanks @nprofile…0fd0 for the ping and sorry to everyone I’ve been ignoring, believe it or not this whole time I’ve disappeared I’ve just been working on a massive new thing. Satellite is not abandoned, soon it will rise again
I sadly had to remove it as one of my blossom servers. It just wasn't working for me. But, hey, this is exactly why blossom is so great; resiliency with decentralization and having multiple blossom servers to host with.
just pinged him on signal
Yes. It's a testament to his design that almost a year later, with no updates, it's still one of the best clients and absolutely the best CDN UX.
I’ve used satellite since release and has been smooth. Hopefully all will be sorted out 👍🏽
I mis-tagged. Correction: @npub1lun…27lj
Strange how some people just sort of disappear
I don't know. No activity here or on GitHub in about a year.
Good advice, will keep this in mind.

Extensions can load code at runtime, sure. But PWAs can as well.
Sure, extensions can run code on websites. But I can restrict on which, and/or audit the code. So none of that matters!
Even if they somehow did slip through, if an extension is malicious, I have concerns about my nsec, not about it tampering with my Nostr client.
PWAs can also exfiltrate my nsec, and be remotely updated. So far I have seen no real solution to the problem that you need an HTTPS website.
need a physical copy so bad
What are your thoughts on native signer apps, such as Amber (NIP-55)?
I get that you are mad about bunkers, but let's not pretend that extensions are somehow unable to load arbitrary code at runtime (they can), or that you some-how can't build and side-load PWAs (you can).
I agree with you that nsecbunker sucks. I have been building rpc-like interfaces over nostr long before nsecbunker was even a thing.
Also, extensions can break into other page processes and perform xss attacks. Be real dude.
I reject the apple walled garden.
But it's good to know safari mobile has extension support. It's a wasteland on android.
Has been for me as well.
Bunkers are still in disarray. There is no solution for ensuring bunker uptime too. Not everyone has a server to put it on, or wants to run an app that drains their battery.
Connecting new apps is a pain, requiring copying a string over from your bunker (which requires you to login, if it’s not an app)
Things like nsec.app are a bigger security risk than extensions. Remember the Bybit hack? The nsec.app server can add malicious JS to the frontend and delete it minutes after. You wouldn’t even know.
With extensions you would need to update, and you can do your own builds as well locally instead of relying on Google or Mozilla.
or if that was not enough, this UX is impossible with bunkers:

Would love to see more people working on zed… they have MCP plugins already unlike Lapce.
That one looked really cool too because it was created by the same people who made tree-sitter!
But zed doesn’t have windows support yet. Still underdeveloped!
The plugins for Lapce are WASI based too which seems quite cool.

oh i saw one of those just a few minutes ago, i was wondering what it was
I see it in every thread, including this one.
https://i.nostr.build/LsWnCBf2Jiskgjlp.png
weird, i don't see that stuff at all
that would turn me off too
the mute list problem is an outlier issue for me, annoying, but i infrequently need to mute anyway
No, I mean, Jumble shows me ReplyGuy spam in the threads, even though I selected TheForest as the relay.
yeah, i had a bout of the moneros the last few days, but mostly i don't mind... people who decide to post to the forest or have their events replicated to it are a fairly self-selected bunch. i don't mind seeing calle or odell once in a while
I also only view theforest, but the replies are spammy because of the other relays.
i use the relay sets and basically just view the forest
unlike nostrudel i don't often see missing profile metadata like missing names and avatars, almost always the profile viewer loads everything
it might be different with the following feed, and it's a bit clunky how you can't select a multi-relay feed as a default, have to always click through to it
also very rarely stalls and if ever for not very long
the only thing i hate about it is when i need to mute someone, i do it with nostrudel because jumble uses encrypted mute lists, they are ginormous because of the insane padding scheme of nip-44
You can still have Damus as a write relay, just 86 it from your read relays.
You can still have Damus as a write relay, just 86 it from your read relays.
Jumble forces everyone to use Damus and etc. in the replies. Switching back to Nostrudel.
The cache server. The relay is a bare strfry.
They do that with the cache server.
I think the Primal relay does no attempt at filtering at all
Write to whatever you want, but definitely purge public relays from your read/public inbox list.
Removed Primal don't really want to remove Damus but might have to do that as well.
Yeah, I gotta do a relay cull.
Maybe we're the Tardbots.

New gibberish bots just dropped
What tardbots? I don't see any tardbots. 😉
WoT relays are your friend when Nostr has an influx of reply spam.
Alternatively, use whatever relays you like and use Coracle with your WoT filter set to a minimum of 1.
No more tardbots.

It's going to be beautiful to watch many of the fake fiat jobs get vaporized.
Working class will be fine as the trades and labor will all still be needed. No one will go hungry, but as competition for low end jobs increases, the only viable solution will be eliminating the criminal minimum wage laws.

GM Shawn, let’s get after it! 🤙🏽
Alex Mashinsky, former CEO of Celsius, famously said that self custody was more risky than using a custodian. He offered yield as a custodian and blew up. He’s now imprisoned for 12 years.
So when there a “cluster” of people all saying things like that and offering custodial yield, I’d call that the “Mashinsky Moment”, which could be used instead of the Minsky Moment. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minsky_moment

Gm Shawn, have a great day
I have a wallet. Are you not seeing it? I’ve been getting zaps.
Nice. Appreciate it. I'd zap you, but looks like no wallet?
I got the Intex 10-foot pool with the aluminum frame back in 2020 when all the public pools were closed for Covid. We’ve used it for five summers and it has held up. Haven’t yet put it up this summer but I will. It does sometimes get small leaks, but they’re easy to patch with the adhesive water-proof patches. I drain it, dry it, and pack it up every winter.
Pro tip: put down a layer of 1” foam interlocking tiles (find them at sporting goods stores or online) then on top of that put down a thick tarp. THEN put the pool on top of that. It will protect the bottom from harm and it’ll feel nice and padded when you’re in it.
Idk man sounds blasphemous
I hear you. My guy’s 3+, so easing in.

Those shows… when you catch a great band on the come up… so good.
First time I saw them was around 1998, at a small local bar in the suburbs of Montreal. Only around 100 people at that show. It was incredible.

Truly. I finally caught them live last year, even after 10 years in Toronto.
Such an underrated band. Seen them live 4 times.

Was wondering something similar. If @npub130m…l29s opens up a marketplace, can we find ways to validate not just the provider, but the actual models?
If someone claims they are serving llama-7-foobar could we find ways to have a signature scheme on the responses and who is the trusted validator?
I get that at some point you have to trust something, but I’ve been bothered by the idea that people are just claiming “here’s a model endpoint” and they could inject whatever the hell they want.
How do I verify my agent that depends on llama-7-foobar and your agent that relies on the same will be in agreement (nefarious or not doesn’t matter).
Does @npub130m…l29s fix this?

Very true.
One of the more confounding statements she made was that "hard money loses as money. We saw that with gold."
It's very much a recency bias sort of thing to say.
Monetary metals won the battle against all other forms of money over thousands of years, and only in the last 200 years or so has paper money taken over and then been forcibly decoupled from gold.
It also shows an ignorance to why physical gold and silver lost out in the end. It had nothing to do with their scarcity, but their lack of portability. Scarcity was why they won out compared to other forms of money, but lack of sufficient portability in a time when humans began moving around a lot more was their downfall. And that is a trait Bitcoin does not share with gold.
Agreed. I think I can appreciate her perspective, being South African. There doesn't seem to be a great to be hopeful about, at present.
She has a bit of a black-pill outlook, at least in the short to medium term. "But you can make a lot of money shorting just about everything."
LOL THAT'S GREAT - THANKS

Alot of internal improvements for Coolr just pushed up.
- Better relay switching
- Small onboarding modal
- Clear all site data in settings (In case I screwed something up)
- Remembers your cached channels & messages when switching relays

The original Subsonic was written in Java and has pretty much been abandoned. The API, while not exactly great, became the least worst standard and now there are compatible servers/clients for every platform.

Guessing you want more than just files on a drive and a player if you're looking after a large library.
Well it's a bit more involved, but I use Plex (with lifetime pass, it goes on sale) and then I have access to the awesome Plexamp app. It's a great music player where I can download my music onto my phone or just listen to it locally and it's got great file organization and features like artwork downloads. Then I can also access my own library from anywhere or give others access. Management is top notch.
Evolution of my huge music library management tools: Real Player Plus, Google Music (had to move when they swapped to the garbage that is Youtube Music), Plex. Management has always been the hardest thing to find! So many players with horrible management for large libraries.
A fine point. I mean music in my control. Big fan of Tailscale w/ @npub168e…9uaw

I already run HA, but hadn't seen this. Thanks!
If you're referring to the Apple music subscription service, it very well might. I haven't looked into that. I'm really only interested in managing my own personal collection for use on my iPhone.
Yeah, I was definitely not recommended it for a fresh setup. 😅
FOSS Moood audio player and streamer made for Raspberry Pi, loving it! https://moodeaudio.org/
Oh and syncthing to have the files in mobile and backed up.
Though, the library is growing and size, and I need to filter out unrated/low rated songs from being synced to my phone to save on storage space with a live .stignore file.
What are the boundaries of non-streaming for you? Straight up one machine or local network?
Subsonic ecosystem + Tailscale is a match made in heaven for me to share NAS library across desktop, laptop, and car.
Maintaining my music library is a cherished hobby of mine. My end goal with my mp3s is to use a rust script I developed that will create playlists for me using a combination of predefined genre, intensity, and rating selections. I don't use any prebuilt solutions for this beyond individual utilities.
Overall, the process looks like this. But sampling each track to choose whether to keep it or not and then adjusting the ratings over time is an ongoing process of music appreciation:
- Soulseek to download flacs
- Ffmpeg converts flacs to mp3
- Mp3gain normalizes audio volume using ReplayGain tags
- Mp3s are moved into the library under Artist > album directories
- I manually massage the tags to confirm with the rest of my library
In Linux, I listen with Clementine because it lets me edit genres and ratings, as well as a random mp3 tag that I've repurposed as the intensity of the song, from soft to very heavy.
- For unrated songs, I'll go in and sample the tracks from about a quarter in and decide whether to keep or delete. If I keep it, I'll set the intensity and give it a one star rating.
- My playlist creation script regularly reads a JSON file with all the playlists I want and places songs that match the criteria into m3u files. The playlists mostly change when I change song ratings or add/delete songs.
On mobile, I use Poweramp or Retro Music, but I've always wanted to develop a player that will let me edit the tags I use for my playlists. Right now, all I can really do is listen to the playlists I autocurate on desktop.

Navigating the unraveling cycle of society
In this hard-hitting episode, @npub1clk…pup9 sits down with Bronwyn Williams, a South African futurist and economist, to dissect the collapse of trust in centralized systems.
Bronwyn analyzes how globalization and technology challenge institutional credibility, using South Africa’s governance struggles as a backdrop. She critiques AI’s centralizing risks, questions Bitcoin’s decentralized promise, and discusses ways businesses and individuals can rebuild trust.

Haha yea dude that is similar to my perspective. It is the type of thinking that only someone that is low agency and allergic to success could possibly embrace.
It should be the missing font. Let's see if AI can help you.😉
1. Use Photopea and Manually Install Custom Fonts
- **Reason**: Photopea is a free, browser-based tool that supports .psd files and text layer editing, closely resembling Photoshop’s experience. Your issue is that custom fonts are not loading, likely because they are not properly installed in the system.
- **Steps**:
1. Ensure your custom font files (.ttf or .otf) are downloaded.
2. Install fonts on Linux:
- **Ubuntu/Debian**:
```bash
sudo mkdir -p /usr/share/fonts/custom
sudo cp /path/to/your/font.ttf /usr/share/fonts/custom/
sudo fc-cache -fv
```
- **Fedora**:
```bash
sudo mkdir -p /usr/local/share/fonts
sudo cp /path/to/your/font.ttf /usr/local/share/fonts/
sudo fc-cache -fv
```
- Alternatively, manually copy the font files to `~/.fonts/` or `~/.local/share/fonts/`, then run `fc-cache -fv`.
3. Open Photopea (photopea.com) and load the .psd file.
4. Check if the font appears in Photopea’s font list. If not, try restarting the browser or clearing the cache.
5. If the font still doesn’t load, verify that the font file name exactly matches the font name specified in the .psd file (Photopea is case-sensitive to font names).

Until we have a viable YouTube-like client, sharing them in kind 1 is probably the way to go.
There is a video specific kind that allows for setting a video title, thumbnail, and description, but we don't have any clients that are built for it except Flare.pub, which is abandonware, and I think zap.stream, but it's not really optimized for browsing previously recorded content.

Lots of interesting chatter here in Australia about this
Some interesting points:
- this tax only effects under 1% of super funds
- this tax is not in place for judges and other “important state workers”
- the median super is under 100k aud
Point being, it’s been very easy to persuade both sides of the aisle as it only effects a tiny percentage of the population
Just watch it creep into the wider super industry though
Plus of course, the rich, the most productive, they will just leave if it’s really bad, much like my birthplace the Uk

Exactly what we need: acceleration. USA will take the cream of Australian refugees with open arms.

That's why we don't negotiate. We need to make demands.
There is no negotiation with the state
Some more than others, no doubt, but the position of this article, the publication, and the organization behind it is that all states are such.

I see. It’s not a futile debate. Look at the countries who suffered hyperinflation. In the end, they all had to change the currency's denomination. It's a matter of time. I don't think it's time for a denomination change, but eventually it will be necessary to bridge the gap between the Bitcoin at the value of today and the ‘new’ Bitcoin. To be clear, I'm not suggesting a name change. That would be counterproductive, as there's an entire narrative built around the name.

If we used dike teeth for money, her head would be bashed in and her teeth would be removed with pliers.
Interesting enough, the average cost estimate for each tooth is about $5,000-$6000 USD. I would sell $12,000 USD in bitcoin to buy her two front teeth. Curious if she would make that deal. Also there is only one picture of her smiling where she shows her teeth, maybe she has secretly been selling them on the side and they are as common as a shitcoin.

So if your pricing teeth like bitcoin, following bitcoins market, cap teeth are worth $4 bucks apiece I’ll give her four bucks each for all of her 32 adult teeth.

Yea it's incredible how much about your neat and tidy life changes.
Great to see you embracing the chaos of these seemingly infinitely curious and joyous little people. They really motivate us and put life into proper perspective: seeing the world with fresh eyes, embracing experiences, living in the moment and valuing the most precious and rare time. Early childhood is so brief and amazing, will pass you by before you know it and when it's gone you'll miss it. It's heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. The silver lining is that you're helping shape the person that likely loves you the most and that depth will grow and change in interesting and challenging ways. Looking back it's hard to imagine almost missing the opportunity altogether. It might have been the most significant chapter of life left completely unwritten. I'm just so thankful that it was.

Nostr CSR
Certified Sovereignty Respecter
Yet another service for Nostr B2B…
“Is your business looking to integrate your app with Nostr? (There are many benefits of doing so … we should talk) Whether you are building open source or closed, respecting end user sovereignty is CORE to earning trust and a dedicated Nostr user base for your app. More than just implementing Nostr NIPs, Certified Sovereignty Respecters have training, support, and software audit provided by one or more trusted CSR providers.“
Certified Sovereignty Respecter business apps will be trusted to do any or all of the following in a respectful manner … without loosing profit or sacrificing IP:
- navigate and make optimal use of the tangled web of Nostr NIPs
- handle proprietary content alongside public Nostr content
- run closed source software and black box algos over Nostr
- disclose their harvesting and use of public or private end user data
- make incremental use of and contribute back to open source projects.
Deeper brand recognition and a dedicated user following are just the beginning. For your business app, Nostr integration will also bring the following benefits:
- access to an unlimited network of FREE and OPEN user data from which you can harvest use as you please.
- avoid the liability of data ownership WITHOUT loosing access to collected data, by OFFLOADING “non essential” user data directly to the public network.
- freedom to build and distribute your app without API restrictions or platform gatekeepers … own your software AND any part the network on which it operates.
- FREE and OPEN access to collaborate and share data and software with a growing number of apps also using the Nostr network for their business.

I do what I can for the good folks on Nostr
Understanding human nature isn’t optional…it’s core architecture
So here is the set up ..
Perplexity as no formal investments - but ideological alignment .. enables it use chatGPT or Deep seek ..
Anthropic as formal investments .. in case DOJ bars google to invest in AI ..
And Gemini - if everything goes fine .. and DOJ focus on legacy search monopoly ..instead of future products .
It is a plan !
Susan Wojcicki, former CEO of YouTube (a Google subsidiary), and Jeff Dean, Alphabet's chief scientist focusing on AI and an early member of Google Brain, have both reportedly invested in Perplexity AI.
While these are individual investments, they indicate some level of connection between individuals with close ties to Google and the AI startup.
while Perplexity AI is positioned as a competitor to Google in the search and AI space and has attracted significant investment from other major players, there is no readily available information indicating a direct investment from Google itself. Google's investment strategy in AI seems to focus on companies like Anthropic, alongside the extensive investments in Gemini
Notable thing is Perplexity founder worked directly under Larry Page as a core dev in Google search :-) ...one team !
Both have massive investments from Google .. I thought ! .
Just the way openAI is a front end of Microsoft.. cuz neither MS nor Goig can do such monopolistics..so they go around the visible ..
Great pod. Decentralization is important for an open society.

Almost looks AI generated!
TaaS
Trust as a Service
Businesses want Nostr NOT because all the people are here, but because EVERY business on Nostr benefits when OTHER businesses use Nostr. Growth will be exponential.
Nostr’s network of open and FREELY accessible user data is ONLY going to grow, WITHOUT the failure point of a central gate keeper. Sovereignty IS the attractor that makes this growth inevitable, BECAUSE of the low risk for end users AND the low cost of entry for businesses on the network.
Trust as a Service (customizable algos on demand) will allow ANY business to TAP into this global “database” of Nostr user data, offering customized trust scores and curated user lists for ANY business need or demographic, WHILE promoting sovereignty for end users.
Businesses WANT to limit their liability, when handling user data. Nostr allows them to offload more and more “non essential” user data directly to end user custody, without EVER claiming ownership OR loosing access to it. Everyone wins when users have more sovereignty over their PUBLIC data on the Nostr network.
With its free market of interconnected apps, unlimited NIPs, and sovereignty respecting user content, Nostr is the NATURAL solution for a B2B model offering TaaS.

How do you write and test this so quick?
Thank you!

Well it’s clear Trump admin wasn’t serous about it. DOGE promised 1-2 trillion but found 1/10 of that, which Trump wants to spend on the bloated military.

Yeah that was different. That was internal bitcoin sends to cashtags which they turned off for some reason. I don’t think lightning addresses ever worked for most people. It was only enabled for a small group of internal people. With lightning addresses, you can send bitcoin from any lightning wallet.
primal is now using blossom and mirroring. Some people are running blossom using haven, a khatru-based relay. Haven doesnt support it because its not in khatru. And here we are 😅
