A Therapists Toolbox 🧰
There are certain things we must face head on in life, like loneliness.
Especially as we age, we can have visions of what our future will hold.
Will we have family, partners or children around us, to help us pass the Sunday afternoons when we are too old to work or travel but still breathing on God’s time?
I’ve learned long ago that having a vision for what matters to us is vital for building meaning in our lives.
Without vision , we can get stuck in misalignment.
But being able to see deep into our future is not possible, and visioning in the shorter term alchemizes into letting go, and learning to surrender to Gods co-created plan for us.
The act of conscious acceptance of what is and what will be becomes a walking meditation in trust.
Much harder than it looks.
I call it A Little Peace- the practice of letting go as we all will, when it’s our turn to leave our bodies.
Learning to let go now can reveal to us our stuck points, our fears and our attachments.
It can show us what we believe and what we are scared of.
Leaning into that - shows us where we have work to do.
And also reveals to us where we are off track because if we truly feel into our finite times passing - we will take deeper stock of ourselves today.
We will truly look in the mirror.
And our reflection will show us what we need.

In these times of dissapointment, setbacks, loss , illness, and grief for example, we need to embrace any feelings of defeat, sadness, fear etc.
When we don’t respond to life’s challenges authentically and feel all the feelings that arise organically, we fail to embrace the full spectrum of our emotions.
They are all necessary and what is not expressed , is depressed.
So sit on that pitty potty when life throws you a shit storm. That’s important.
Just remember to get off.
And get help if you can’t.
Your life deserves better.
Nobody is coming to save you.
That’s your job and yours alone.
But getting support in hard times is also the smartest thing you can do.

I started homeschooling my son this year and it’s the best decision we’ve made! So happy! We do follow a curriculum here in australia as it provides the framework of our key lessons then we add on his interests from there.

Wow. What Proof of Work you have on this topic! What strength of character you must have to have managed yourself in that system! 💪🏽
I personally went through the public school system and knew it didn’t recognise my strengths , autonomy & desires so I chose to put my son in a Rudolph Steiner School, as Steiner’s theories and approaches to children is incredible to me! But alas, my son came home complaining of the same things I did when I was his age. He was only enjoying lunch break when he could run and play outside.
So I listened.
When my year 12 of high school approached all my classmates were excited about their next steps. And it dawned on me that I had wasted years of my life applying zero effort in class and my grades reflected that.
All I wanted to do was travel but no one was doing that back in the early nineties in my small country community. I felt horrifyingly lost, aimless and ashamed.
Thats when and why I picked up a substance habit - my self worth took a huge hit.
Luckily I managed to kick it three years later and found my way to purpose and meaning in my life.

Instead of sitting in a classroom all day, my son experiences life while with the ppl he most wants to be with - his parents.
Homeschooling is one of
THE BEST decisions I’ve ever made.
We are not rushed.
We do his school work in less time than it took to do the school run.
He spends more time in his own rhythm and doing things he loves, with other homeschool kids too.
He doesn’t have to ask permission to move, to eat or to go to the bathroom.
He understands that he is lucky.

I had my initial exposure to Psychotherapy when I was in my early twenties and had recovered from a substance abuse addiction.
I knew then that I was going to be a Psychotherapist. I didn’t come back to it & start my studies till I was 35.
I had dropped out of high school with a substance addiction. I recall one of my last days, I was trying to open my locker with my car keys and someone next to me had to point it out. I was so vague I didn’t realise.
I was decked out in purple leather flares, a blond wig and a top hat. High as a 🪁
I left that afternoon and never looked back.
Flash forward getting clean, and discovering my spiritual self, I searched for how I could continue to grow.
I couldn’t believe how my exterior life improved when I began exploring my inner landscape with my therapist and attending self development and meditation classes.
FYI there is an entire universe of
I N N E R S E L F
that actually runs the show, not our minds.
The more I understood about myself, the better I did-
by either honouring what I needed & doing it on purpose or by deciding to do the opposite of the habits that didn’t support me.
I started the
M A K E C H O I C E S
in every moment I was in.
Conscious choices about what I said, did and thought.
This was quite a shock to the ppl around me. Because I wasn’t running off what was familiar just because it had always been that way.
I started to break out of the
P A T T E R N
O F
E X I S T E N C E
that I had adopted this far.
I began to break the matrix.
I woke up.
I became alive.
I copped a lot of push back & I still do today.
I speak my mind and I follow up experiences with explanations the majority of the time so folks know who I am, what I’m thinking & feeling, and what I’m doing.
I address the elephant in the room most days. I’m not concerned about pretending - I just need to call out what’s in the Field as best I can because that’s when I’m at peace.
Life has gotten a lot easier since then as I continue to develop my skill set.
If you’ve never explored who you are beyond your mind, I’ll tell you,

Y O U get to decide if you want to take on other people’s opinions of you.
Sometimes they fit, and often they don’t.
How do you tell the difference as we all have blind spots?
It can feel like recognition when someone is spot on with something about you even when it may not be something you like. It can feel like a zing in your body of ‘Yes that is true’. So you can say “I accept that.“
Other times, when someone labels you or tells you how they see you or what they assume you’re thinking 🤨
You will feel when it is incorrect.
It just doesn’t fit.
So hit that ball back to them to clarify the Field and say “No that doesn’t feel quite right.”
Every single day we are hit with micro moments of
A G R E E M E N T S
and I can’t wait to share more about that with you.
Ppl will want or need us to agree to things that can set us up in ways that are incorrect or untrue.
We can get pulled into their Field.
They will do this as a strategy - conscious or unconscious- so that we fill the role they need us to fill. So that we fit in the dynamic that is unfolding or more importantly, that they want to unfold.
We all do this to one another.
We are all humans trying to do our best.
Learning more about Shadow Work & Agreements is a super power.

I asked myself after I got clean from a 3 year substance addiction in my early 20’s , what did the drugs do for me and my only answer was it helped me Not Give A Fvck.
I think back then I cared way too much about what others thought of me & was trying to find my identity around that.
