Has anyone written a really good blog post or article describing and advocating for #nostr, but which has absolutely no mention of Bitcoin whatsoever? By that I mean not posted on a Bitcoin blog, and just completely ignores that part of the protocol, culture, and user base.
I’d like to send a good link to people who are Bitcoin-skeptics, whose eyes will immediately roll the instant they see the word “Bitcoin”.

Are there any really performant #nostr relay implementations that are still being developed?
I’m expecting thousands or even tens of thousands of simultaneous connections. And I really need NIP-42.
Strfry hasn’t been updated in 5 months. And it doesn’t support NIP-42.
Nostream is definitely popular, but I worry about the performance. And it doesn’t support NIP-42 either.
Maybe nostr-rs-relay?

This is a fantastic book.
I just read it tonight. It took me a little over two hours to read. It was easy to absorb, as it was written in a friendly, hopeful, and helpful tone.
This is a book I could give to any friend or family member who shows interest. They will be provided with the most up-to-date information, distilled down to the most crucial talking points. All without any condescension to the reader.
I wish I could put one of these in every Little Free Library in town.

Yes. Capsaicin is oil-soluble, so when it is cooked, some of it will aerosolize and/or get thinned out in other oils in the food. Likewise, when pickled, the capsaicin is thinned out in the vinegar, which is a solvent.

There will be an actual market for loans, with supply and demand and risk level dictating the interest rate and terms. Banks will have to be a VERY attractive place for customers to deposit their funds. They’ll need to offer a level of security and a good interest rate to seem better, or at least easier, than self-custody.
Banks will need to clearly state their level of fractional reserve lending so that customers can make an informed decision.
If the FDIC still exists (doubt it) they will have to operate like a real insurance company and not just print money to bail out the over-leveraged banks. Maybe there will be private FDIC-like insurance companies and the banks will have to pay for their insurance.

I don’t think that’s necessarily true. Bitcoin is only “deflationary” because the total value of “The Economy” tends to increase while the monetary supply is fixed.
That means the average skill set, and therefore value, of each employee also increases at the same rate of The Economy. It follows then, the standard would be that everybody keeps their same salary because their value has likewise increased at the same rate.
Of course, some employees may become even more valuable (at a rate above The Economy) and should ask for a raise. And some people may not increase in value quite as fast, or not at all, or maybe become less valuable. And they may have to deal with a pay cut or, at worst, layoffs.
So, in the future, earning bitcoin will take, on average, the same amount of any given employee’s effort as they did before, but they will be more productive and generate more value for their employer and the world.
This is the way an economy SHOULD work.

That’s the problem. People don’t care what Nostr is. They only care if they can follow their friends, family and favorite celebs. Until they can do that, no amount of onboarding effort will matter. And yes, of course that’s a chicken-and-egg problem.
And I hate to say it folks, but all the different clients makes it even more confusing. 99% of people just use the default web browser that comes with their device. They don’t even know what the app is called. Nor do they care.
When iOS and Android each come shipped with their own default Nostr app, and it’s just called something super generic like “Social”, then we’ll start the real adoption.
Or, ya know, we just convince Taylor Swift to move 100% to Nostr. That’d work too.

That it requires 100% devout socialism to enact any social programs.
It only takes 51% of people to want SOME social programs (roads, sewers, firefighters, education, probably military, maybe healthcare if we’re lucky) and to vote for them. With sound money governments can’t print money (inflation is essentially an invisible tax on the poor and disenfranchised anyway), so the only other option is to enact taxes (ideally on the rich) to pay for the programs.
I’m not talking “socialize all means of production” here.
Hopefully, we’ll have a Bitcoin standard in our lifetime. It’ll be a rough transition and there will be turmoil and upheaval. But when the dust settles, we’ll see if/how people will choose to take care of each other.
I’m an optimist. I think people will choose to take care of each other.

The Phantom Menace will always be the biggest letdown in movie history. The hype was huge and the movie was SO meh. The Last Jedi may or may not be a better movie than TPM, but by the time TLJ came out, I was already jaded so it didn’t hurt as bad.
