Curator is right now working on updating the nostr events from nostrcompass' list. The now 630 entries were informed by it but nostrcompass has more than 700 now, so either Curator was lazy the first time around or nostrcompass grew a lot that last week. ;)

Your effort gave me the inspiration to give it another try on https://nostr.info/resources/ and I hope I can convince you to integrate the resulting nostr events on your end instead of maintaining an incompatible list on GitHub.
https://nostr.info/resources/ now lists kind-30078 evens from the follows graph of @npub1c4p…5c34 . Curator follows me and I follow a bunch of people.
All these people can edit content and it shows instantly for all visitors as the default content.
Everybody can edit any entry or add new ones and while logged in, they are the anchor for the WoT aka follows graph. So if they don't follow Curator or me, they will suddenly see a ton of "community edits/suggestions" coming from this Curator guy but as soon as I follow them or the curator does or Curator or any other nostrich from the default follows graph "edits" the new entry into the follows graph, it shows up for everybody.
Zapping might be an incentive to provide quality content. Entries get sorted depending on reactions and zaps. Contributors to the entries get shares from the zaps. Curator so far has no zapping enabled, so only my manual edits as me get me on the zap list but incidentally that makes most entries un-zappable as nobody with enabled zapping has edited them yet.

It is gambling indeed but with useful results fast if I'm lucky. Or slow if not. Either way I spend more with the product and less with the code which is a good thing. Soon, these LLMs will definitely out-code any coder so coding with your own hands will be like knitting socks. #askNostr how is the NWC landscape? How about self-cutodial zap usage?
I want to stop using WoS to receive zaps and I'm working on a project that would really need zap splits. What are the best tools for these jobs right now?
I mainly know zap splits from Amethyst but I zap with Phoenix which results in manual zap splitting. For a two-way split that's acceptable but I need a 10-way split. Also Phoenix doesn't support receiving zaps, so ... I also use WoS.
I tried out cashu.me, put 40ksat into it, got Amethyst to accept the NWC configuration and now, when I zap for example @npub1gcx…nj5z 's zap split posts I see the zap icon play an animation but it never ends and never times out and cashu.me never shows any activity neither.
Are there any production quality tools? Any chance that in months from now, people here will know how to do split payments or are there no advances being made to adoption of these techniques?

So far, hermes was wasting a lot of my time as it "imported" stuff from openclaw but in a way it would use the same workspace folders as openclaw and mess with openclaw in other ways, too. That's probably ok if you know you want to abandon openclaw but I'm not convinced the whole selling point of hermes can't be brought to openclaw in a skill or something.

Probably the way to go is an intermediate local relay. Your app talks to just one relay on localhost. That relay tries to sync out. This way, all clients are "offline capable".

I tried to separate data from the nostr.info design by using the data via a sub repository https://github.com/Giszmo/nostrResources
But I got stuck in analysis paralysis thinking that to really share that data with other projects, it should be in nostr events and not in a git repository.
But while nostr is great for single-author censorship resistant distribution of data, collaborative maintenance of some canon of data isn't yet solved in nostr to my knowledge. Hence the paralysis.

Ok I wonder if my Amethyst might have the profile data cached from yesteryear as I would cache profile data indefinitely for follows in any client and Android clients have more persistent storage than browser clients. If not, Cody should have a good test case here to fix his client. But fundamentally, if those few users only posted to their obscure relays as revealed in the nprofile, how would you find it from the npub not knowing the relays? You'd literally have to find all relays.

That's why it's caching data. People that last posted days ago - most people - can be backfilled slowly and cached indefinitely. @npub1q3t…u7l3 was last active 48 days ago so unless I manage to poke him into action, his line in my "Pulse" won't change any time soon. In other words, if you store per user 10 latest events and check back about every day, you don't need more connections than the "24h Pulse" as it's old events anyway. IDB can easily store 1000 follows times ten events at all time.
My current code state still strains the connections so liking stuff while it's bombarding the relays is broken but I know I can get it there.
I would load the 10 events per user in the background even before they go to the Pulse view. Your caching strategy throws away older events that happen to be the last events from authors. I would never throw away those above mentioned events or profile information. Profiles only ever get updated when we happen to come across a newer version of the event.

To try it out, customize your tabs and activate "Pulse". I also drag it into the first position as my default.

Pulse lets you feel the pulse of your follows. It's a bit demanding on relays and on your first load it might not find events for all follows but it caches what it finds, so on later loads it will be much faster and might eventually fill in what couldn't be found on the first go.

The easy protocol makes things look like you could build stuff alone but for the really good tools you need more persistence and eventually more people even in the age of Opus 4.7.

I'm working on making vanished accounts more visible in @npub1syj…f6wl 's Jumble and while stumbling into those accounts that haven't posted in years makes me nostalgic, I wonder if nostr could improve retention of users if we saw them not post early on and poked them. I say I'm not sure it does a good job as I don't know if your implementation does find the latest events of all my follows. I suspect there are people who broke their relay configs and now they shout into the void and we don't hear them.

I thought I could just use your 24h implementation and remove the 24h limit. It does a great job (although I'm not sure of that) to find all follows 24h events. It should need a limit, too and go for more if limit is hit. But clanker does a bad job doing the following:
Remove the 24h constraint.
At EOSE, remove all authors that already have 10 events from subsequent rounds.
Repeat REQ with until:$dateOfOldestEvent.
Until you have the newest events of all follows.
Somehow, checking the profiles of follows where no events were found, finds events now, so something is wrong with my relay selection.
Somehow, things get really ugly as soon as I ckeck profiles and unfollow users ... Now the numbers start jumping around, the design starts shifting as a consequence of users jumping between some and no events...

It loads the 10 most recent notes of all my follows. Checks their Pulse so to say. And yes, as that's a natural extension of your 24h Pulse, it's also demanding so I split it into its own thing.
Right now, the 24h data is really fast to arrive but then it gets really slow and then really buggy.

Whenever I saw the "24h Pulse" I wondered, why stop there? So I wrote a "Pulse" mode that lets me find last posts by my follows. "Feel their pulse" so to say.

Badges are "Alice attests to Bob to match a certain criteria defined by Alice" and as Nostr is very weak on central authorities, nothing evolved to give worthy badges I know of.
Now if Alice attests to my LinkedIn style c++ skills, how would that be more worthy? Alice would still have to make a name for herself with respect to being good at judging that but it gets to the core of what I want and it's "labels". Just as people might want to know who of their follows is for/against bip110, they might want to know who's good at c++ even if just self-described.
So:
Badges were the most complicated. Somebody defines a badge. The same somebody awards the badge. The awarded has to accept the badge.
Labels are simpler. By labeling your long-form article as for example pro-bip110 you make it discoverable in the bip110 debate.
But that's still more complicated than hashtags. People don't use these neither. But they would also not use #forBIP110 but rather just #BIP110.
As an engineer I want to query all nostriches and put them into buckets but nostriches don't help me by making their minds machine readable. Not without the right incentives.

We should make Nostr the best place to rally around causes.
Badges (NIP-58) never found PMF for political/technical signaling. Emoji flags in display names are cute but shallow. We can do much better with primitives that already exist.
1. NIP-32 labels as the machine-readable stance
kind 1985 with ["L","causes"] ["l","bip110/oppose","causes"]
→ queryable, aggregatable, namespaced
2. NIP-23 article as the "why"
Long-form reasoning the label points to via "a" tag
→ substance, not just vibes
3. Zaps as weight
Sats-backed support filters noise and raises signal quality
4. Web-of-trust as the lens
"How does MY network feel about X?" — computable client-side
→ sybil-resistant by default, no global moderation needed
What's missing is UI, not protocol. Imagine a "Causes" tab:
- Trending topics by WoT activity
- Tally of support/oppose, weighted by zaps + trust distance
- One tap to publish your stance + reasoning
- See which npubs you trust stand where
Optional: a replaceable kind (e.g. 30178) with d-tag = topic, for "current stance" semantics. One canonical position per user per topic, updatable over time.

Finding lost gold is one thing you can't prevent. Finding more gold in space neither.
In Bitcoin we can do both. "Finding more coins" was ruled out by design from day one. Finding lost coins of course is more tricky as from outside you never know for sure which coin is lost or not but with sufficiently large windows to migrate, any actual holder should be able to migrate their coins to a save address type - a migration they should do anyway if the current type is not save.
Ultimately, if coins get burnt or frozen indefinitely, they are not being confiscated by some committee that can and if it happens with years of head notice.

Without reading the details of the Arbitrarium case, how does "council decided ... to award confiscated coins to other people than the recipients according to protocol rules" have anything to do with a Bitcoin fork where every user can follow the fork or not ... or both ... at their own discretion?
Bitcoin's rules can be changed and people who fancy the changed rules can run a node enforcing those. To argue whether "we" should change the rules is moot. There is no "we".
Should a coin-freezing chain have value? Also moot.
Should "lost" coins sponsor a quantum frenzy while diluting the Bitcoin supply? Also moot.

Spending old coins doesn't violate the rules of Bitcoin. Who said otherwise?
The rules can be changed though, by any set of users. While a controversial change probably costs more than it benefits the group going along with it, if a supermajority wants the protocol to go in a certain direction, sure, the tiny minority can fork off, but they probably won't be able to maintain such a minority fork.
So if we all assume (we can't know exact figures) that 20% of bitcoins are essentially unrecoverable by their original owners but could at some future point be recovered through brute force due to their public key crypto becoming weak, then as Bitcoiners we have to decide whether to allow this or not. There are engineering and political risks, but in the end users will decide one way or another.
I'm for "freezing coins" that could otherwise be brute forced, and for providing alternative recovery paths where weakness-proof mathematical proofs are possible.
That said, I probably wouldn't sell all my coins on a super-majority non-freezing fork to the other side. I'd shout "you fools" at the void and accept that billions of dollars will get wasted on quantum mining of old bitcoin wallets, while hoping there would be some other useful stuff that could be done later with all the quantum mining equipment so it doesn't end up as QC's only use case.

We counted lost coins as deflation. So it wasn't deflation to lose coins as they will all be found eventually? My argument holds. I don't want to sponsor the quantum frenzy with 20% of my savings.

Freezing coins in this case is not some rulers confiscating some users' coins but all actual users refusal to sponsor a Quantum frenzy.
You are painting a picture of somebody imposing a change on people that would destroy their property entirely.
A more benevolent interpretation is that all those that still have access to their coins agree to make sure the coins that were lost stay lost instead of coming back from the grave to haunt us in form of aggressive inflation thus destroying all users' property partly.
I'm firmly in support of any scheme that makes sure that quantum computers won't be used to break Bitcoin's public key cryptography and only fear we shoot our own feet too early ... or too late.

It's not really accounts that are missing. When there's a wild fire in my region, I can go to Xitter and get pictures from it. Nostr doesn't have by far the density on the ground to match that.

If zaps were comments with money attached, a reaction or a reply would be natural. If somebody fat zaps you without reply, it's hard to be polite correctly.
