We’re not talking past each other, you simply don’t understand that selling ideas is different to educating about them.
In any major tech company, behind the C-Suite, Sales are the best paid individuals. Not engineers or devs, not enablement (education) - sales guys.
If education is all that was needed, why don’t they just provide abundant free training on their solutions? Why don’t these companies just wheel in the brilliant devs to sell their products? Why pay expensive sales people at all?
Because a specific skillset is needed to persuade people on emotionally charged decisions. And any time there is big money on the line whether it’s someone’s savings in Bitcoin, or a budget which spent poorly could cost a job - this skill is imperative.
Education isn’t the problem. Knowing who your audience is and how to communicate ideas persuasively to them is.
But I guess devs can just keep trying the same thing over and over again and expect to get different results. Should work out fine..

Nationalising Microstrategy would be that easy. Ok, Trump is having issues with activist courts and the US system is a bit more robust than other systems, but Microstrategy (and others) as an entity exists at the pleasure of the US Gov.
The frameworks they operate within are all controlled by the US Gov. The tax system. The regulated stock markets. The regulated banks. The payment rails. The custody agents. The corporate entity structure. All of this can and will be weaponised.
You’ve got to remember the stakes here - losing Dollar hegemony doesn’t just result in a recession or even a depression, it destroys the US as we know it. It would destroy enormous amounts of wealth. Foment secessions. It would lead to huge political unrest which would definitely move beyond politics into violence. Mass unemployment. Mass chaos. Shit will spark up globally without Team Murica having their eye on everyone which means all the wealthy people are not going to be able to avoid things regardless.
And so you have to be realistic about how much muscle those in power would be willing to flex to avoid that worst case scenario. Stealing strategic assets via nationalisation is pretty tame compared to the alternative.
I said earlier I think the odds of it happening in 12-18 months are low, but it’s either in this timeframe, or we get something to kick the can and this happens in the next ~decade because the path is already set.
Bessent might feel it’s now or never. Trump’s tariff policy leads me to believe they do think that, they either strike now proactively or the US will be too weak to make something this big stick in a few years.
And all the stablecoin focus is also a big hint - the only reason for stablecoins to exist is to provide flows for Bitcoin. That the US can print a shitload of treasuries, regulate stablecoin issuers on what they must hold (Tether will get approvals but they’re going to have to hold longer duration), and push the inflation into Bitcoin rather than general prices is a nice bonus but really that’s setting up liquidity for Bitcoin to grow much larger too which they’ll eventually need.
So yeah maybe it is 10 years and it’s all off the cuff reactions to systems imploding at that point, that’s entirely plausible and more likely for Governments to be reactionary like that. But if you see gold revalued soon, and loudly, expect it to be a fakeout with Bitcoin coming over the top because they can’t win at gold.

People don’t “go back” to languages, most of them die over time and there are very few examples of languages making significant come backs. It’s 99.9 to 0.1 language death to come back.
English isn’t going anywhere in the lifetimes of people alive today. It will definitely look and sound different in 100-200-300 years, but every year more people are learning it as a second language, not fewer.

My latest review for #bookstr is Desmet’s “The Psychology of Totalitarianism”.
This has been on my list since Covid when it was frequently referenced by those trying to explain the collective insanity societies were seemingly going through, it’s where Robert Malone got “Mass Formation Psychosis” from.
It starts off interesting with some psychological analysis of what Desmet calls “mechanical ideology” in which humans degenerated into dogma and blind belief through the enlightenment, which led to social isolation as people were disconnected from community and meaning through work, and how science became ideology despite enormous evidence of incorrectness.
And then once he’s set things up through the first 5 chapters and begins his explanations in chapter 6 “The Rise of the Masses”, things fall apart.
Everything Desmet is describing is statism but he is never able to put his finger on that.
He constantly refers to “Nazism and Stalinism” as his examples of the masses being overcome with this totalitarian streak which anyone with an interest in history will just see as weak.
Lenin isn’t mentioned once, nor Mao. China’s only mention is in the context of Covid. There’s nothing on pretty much any other totalitarianism other than examples from Nazi Germany and the Soviets under Stalin.
He goes from dismissing scientism and making a strong case for not trusting peer reviewed studies due to the amount of inaccuracies, underproduceability, and outright fraud, to invoking points like “the World Health Organization (WHO) reports that one in five people worldwide has been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder” when he wants to support his own arguments
(like how TF can you rely on that kind of point, how would the WHO possibly know?).
I found myself constantly waiting for the crescendo, for the examinations of other regimes and deeper insights into how they bought out the worst in people. Instead I had to slog my way through a heavy reliance on Hannah Arendt quotes, and other than some random facts unrelated to the title theme, came away with very little from this book.
The worst book I’ve read this year, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. You’d get more value out of listening to Dan Carlin or Darryl Cooper putting themselves in other people’s shoes than this third hand account which basically explains nothing.

Adelaide has arguably the best climate of any Aussie city, pretty good beaches, its by far the best planned city and small enough so as to not be a nightmare for traffic, it’s got the hills and the Barossa next door, very good healthcare and schools, access to very good food both from sea and land, Victor Harbour and KI a short trip away for holidays, and it’s renowned for festivals and arts.
It’s basically the ideal place for seniors or late career people.
Probably all it’s lacking is better flight connections but once you get on and don’t travel as much or as far, this becomes less of an issue.
It’s Australia’s version of Florida where seniors are going to want to go for comfortable retirement.

It’s been a year since Saylor launched “Orange” and it’s been crickets ever since. No mentions by the company, nothing in any earnings call or M5M, nor even at Strategy World 2025.

People aren’t going to “come to their senses.”
Either stuff is built on Nostr that people want to use or people won’t come.
The beauty of the protocol is that every new app can add marginal utility to the User. So maybe it’s not a Twitter replacement, but a Twitter substitute + fountain + zapstream + lightning wallet and that provides a User enough value to stick around.
We need more apps, not more Twitter clones in the hope people migrate here for the same experience just with less censorship because that isn’t a 10x worth it.

Infrastructure Victoria recently released its updated 30-year strategy which is estimated to cost $70 Billion dollarydoos for a State that is already in more debt per capita than New York with precisely ZERO industry there to backstop it.
You only need to browse through the first 10 pages of high-level to see how batshit insane they are - 95% renewables by 2035, building 800,000 times at the same time, lowering residential speed limits to 30kmh, cycling networks, climate change blah blah blah.

Indians largely came here to earn money and get better education, increasingly they’re not going back and Aus is just mass-importing a slave labour class to drive Ubers and do other manual labour because they’ll work long hours illegally for low pay (Aus has insane minimum wage) and cram into rentals to keep up housing demand.
The Chinese are largely there to park capital. They buy all the houses and property and have been welcomed with open arms by the Government to keep the #HousingPonzi afloat.
It’s basically a scheme to keep housing prices high because all of the Boomers are massively invested and half wont survive a correction which we haven’t even had a recession for 30+ years so is massively overdue.
Neither group integrates in Aus. We’ve had plenty of immigrants who did but the Chinese have been here over a century and never did and the Indians don’t seem able.

Australia. I grew up there, spent quite a few years abroad working and eventually got not “home sick”, but wanted to be with my people. Returned in 2010 and it slowly got worse year over year to the point I can’t even tell you what Aussie culture is any more other than gambling on the #HousingPonzi and demanding to be governed harder.
Covid was a massive degradation, suddenly the Karens were fully emboldened and apparently in charge of society which was completely at odds with what I thought the culture was.
Then I remember going to the mall 2 years ago and I couldn’t recognise it. There were maybe 5-6 white people there amongst a thousand Indians and Chinese. Couldn’t even walk around the mall because those people all walk on the right whereas Aus walks on the left; something so basic that you literally are a foreigner in your own country when you are so outnumbered that basic social norms are being reversed and you’re metaphorically swimming against the tide.

Another review for #bookstr, this time a Hans-Hermann Hoppe classic.
Nothing groundbreaking if you’re familiar with libertarian literature but I did particularly enjoy his critique of Conservatism.
I’ve long said that Western Liberal Democracy is a choice between Socialists in Red ties and in Blue ties.
Hoppe puts real meat on that bone by articulating how the Overton window is constantly dragged left by Progressive ideology, kind of like Yarvin’s idea that “Cthulhu always swims left”, but Hoppe really gets to the nub of it and did so 30 years prior. Thus Conservatives are after a short time left conserving previously progressive ideas as the social consensus moves further and further left as progressive wins become normalised. This is how you end up with a right wing introducing same sex marriage, pursuing net zero goals, or who see no problem with people being taxed 50% and only offer the most marginal changes to the system which all result in more centralised control any way.
Also an interesting book if you’ve considered the critique of Libertarianism that pure freedom is at odds with social cohesion which is something I’ve been thinking about a lot more, having seen my own culture completely degraded (not by libertarianism per se but nonetheless), and now living in another culture which is much more coherent and functional.
Hoppe is a fantastic writer, his dry German wit and logical constructs are like mainlining Mises after he has been stomped on 😂 I did enjoy this one, and would recommend it more in the primer category for people wanting to understand these concepts.
