My observation is that these are all VC-backed companies scrambling for a narrative that holds. No shade, but it does not mean it's real.
Open Router is exactly this type of wide access platform. You prepay credits and access a wide variety of models. It’s not even a marketplace. With marketplaces you’ll get even better pricing and i agree, the incentives for bot to bot payments are still missing imo. But so many people are talking about this now, I wonder where my thinking has gaps in it. Maybe the scale and efficiency and speed enabled by what comes in the future is very profitable? 🤔

The case in which I see this changing is if something like MCP takes off. Then you could have agents discovering and consuming services that the user/customer didn’t plan ahead for, and therefore doesn’t have credits for. That’s where it gets interesting.
But even then, we already have marketplaces emerging for this. So you just have credits with the marketplace.
Yeah I mean no one will pay 30 cents on a micropayment but that’s precisely what credits are for? The problem is solved in a way, but people think it’ll be solved to not even use credits? I don’t get it … the incentives don’t even align for companies. You WANT people to have unused credits and find a reason to come back to use your product… why would you ever want direct micropayment transactions? What am I missing?
Will agents be able to economize and market their services autonomously anytime soon? I think principles will be doing that for the foreseeable future and hence traditional forms of payment (with kickbacks and dispute resolution) will be utilized.
It’s premised on the logically sound assumption that traditional payment methods’ (namely, credit card) fee structures don’t work for billions (trillions?) of sub-cent machine-to-machine payments.
Who’s going to tolerate paying VISA 35 basis points + 30 cents to pay for a $0.00005 API call? No one.
But the SaaS/AI companies are fine to sell prepaid plans for say, a few hundred dollars a month, that customers then draw down against.
There just isn’t any real proof that we’re anywhere near changing that pricing model.
As for TAM, theoretically massive, but see above.

If Client A puiblishes a NIP-22 events without a root event tag, then Client B (and perhaps event Client A) won't be able to find it. Schemas can catch this error either in production or in a CI/CD pipeline. It can also detect these issues by fuzz testing events.

Rode Go II uses a USB-C connection and should be compatible with iP 15. Not lightning cable but USB-C
The receiving end is connected to your iPhone and the subjects have the wireless mic pack (small clip on block)
As long as both are charged these should pair easily and handle the audio. Each mic also records, so you have a backup if needed.
Tripods are subjective but a Manfroto TwistGrip has a standard universal connection that threads into a basic tripod stand. Maybe find an ultra lightweight tripod that packs small.
Lighting depends on environment. Night vs day, so tough to recommend anything but LED light rings can work in certain situations, again small and easy to pack. Light ring won't have a long throw, so this would be for close up shots.

When I think of businesses on NOSTR I think of Primal alone.
Of course, there are some that allow you to pay for relay space, but the vast majority aren't going to even know what that means. Relay space is for the moderately hardcore. The very hardcore run their own relays 😂
There are a few other services you can pay for but I wouldn't consider them businesses yet. More like coffees for the developer.
But even with Primal, it is a better bitcoin wallet than a NOSTR platform. That's a problem.

We have some really great developers but they don't prioritize appropriately.
Many large and successful businesses have failed because they decided to add features to their product/service and forgot about the product/service itself.
It's harder to do in a FOSS environment.
Maybe OpenSats and other supporters should be more firm on what they want with the grants. I know some are fairly loose - "just apply your genius."
There is a ton we can do with NOSTR but if it can't easily do the simplest item for everyone - sharing this little note for example - then what's the value with everything else.
All the above applies to Bitcoin products too. Though I feel there is a greater incentive to keep a strong core product there and some successful and wonderful businesses exist because of Bitcoin.
And maybe that's what NOSTR needs. Business. Profit makers.

Gab is a viable alternative though, they actually follow what Musk only claimed he would do: as long as it's not illegal, you can post anything, and it's moved to an open source Mastadon fork. Better experience than Twitter, longer posts & videos than X, and a huge user base, stores, marketplace, businesses, their own parallel payment system, they accept and promote Bitcoin, and they block Israeli IP addresses (based.)
Is an open, decentralized social media something the world demands if they can post what they want and still use Bitcoin on the platform? Do Notes need to be Relayed and identities/profiles be public/private keys? I don't know but so far it's worked well enough and I hope it gets better. 🤍 The non technical will still struggle a lot to get started here and use Nostr to it's potential though, this is still a nerdy cypherpunk niche thing that I'm not sure is solving a real problem for a lot of people.
Bitcoin gets people rich and it's still hard enough to get people to adopt that and barely interact with it. I don't think it's clear which way the world is moving but I like knowing Nostr is always a backup option to speak, share, and organize, at the very least.

I think more so it's just not a compelling product offering. Any of the other major steaming providers have better regular content and offer occasional extras like NFL games. I think Apple expected all of the Apple fanboys to subscribe just because they usually buy Apple stuff but that hasn't been the case.

the biggest obstacles to working nostr DMs is actually related to some simple things:
- relays need auth to check the identity of the query when DMs are being queried
- DMs that do not contain the authed npub in either the author or p tag fields should not be allowed to read the messages, at all, at all
- most clients currently don't react correctly when a relay demands auth because of a request for DMs, it has literally broken coracle and nostrudel by changing the relay to public readable... EXCEPT for DMs which must be authed
i've been saying this stuff for almost 14 months now but nobody listens to me because i call their ideas stupid
when their ideas are stupid, and the proof is in the fact that no client actually works with properly protected privacy of DMs, according to the simple scheme i just outlined
