One line above wansn't entirely accurate, but it's minor. You said, "This lets you create temporary keys that can sign events on your behalf, without exposing your private key." The bunker strings created for NIP-46 are not keys at all. They don't actually sign anything. ALL signing is done using your actual private key. The bunker string just gives a client the necessary information to communicate with the application that is storing your private key, that way the client can send a request for a signature that the signer app will use your private key to sign, and then send the signed event back to the client.
It's an important distinction, because it is why the device running the signer app has to remain online for NIP-46 signing to work. If the bunker strings were keys in and of themselves that could be used to sign events, then communication with the signer app remotely would not be necessary.

I have a love/hate relationship with lightning. It felt like the "community" was herded into this idea of lightning as THE solution, amd when we all went along, it became impolitic to say "wow when it works its great, bit when it sucks it SUUUCKS" and nobody really wanted to address the emergent problems.
It feels like we are coming up to the age of lightning realism. Where it is what it is. Big liquidity players run the show, and as long as your LP or node is connected to them, it's fast. And the promised privacy is sort of squishy and unguaranteed and mostly, slightly trustful.

Session is a messenger competitor/similar to Signal, but routes everything through tor and is decentralized. You also don't need a phone number to use it.
A decentralized design is better than a wholly centralized one, definitely. The issue arises when it morphs into a cat and mouse game; ambivalent clients and/or relays starting to censor what they consider "undesired" users, others gradually becoming more restrictive, etc.
Nostr client and relay maintainers seem hellbent on doing everything wrong with the fediverse, but on a far worse scale. The point isn't that you can't fuck off and use something else, but pondering how long until you'll no longer be able to do that.
I didn't leave the fediverse just to end up with an experience worse than it.
But this is highlighting the censorship resistance of Nostr. If one client does something you don't like or one relay does something you don't like, you have a plethora of other choices. X does not have different choices to post signal.me links. That's the difference. I know you get that.
Nostr itself doesn't, but popular clients implementing opt-out filters labeled as merely "spam filters" and then arguing in bad faith when called out on it sends a message a supposedly "censorship-resistant" protocol shouldn't be advocating for.
There's a reason I'm not using Amethyst anymore, as I also ceased using it during the Onyx fork era.

There is no second best name for a horse.
Nostrudel and amethyst have separate lists, these two didn't mess with each other. I use these two mostly can't speak for others.
Amethyst also had a bug for a time where it wouldn't decrypt your mute list correctly with Amber, which made it seem like your list was wiped.
I thought I last experienced the issue with Primal, but I'm not certain.
Try muting on amethyst and then mute someone on one of the other clients. See if the mute is still there and which one kills it. I don't know but Im suspecting the usual.

This is me taking metadata out of Nostr events and putting them in neo4j in such a way that "e" tags are transformed into relationships between events. Eventually I'll index every type of reference I can and make it into a functioning relay.
So if you have any kind 1 event id, you can query event IDs of the entire thread in one shot. Even if you're 100 replies away from the root, so long as every event in between is known to the relay. And you can then do it across kinds, like from a single react, get every event in it's neighborhood.

Mutes are just a NIP-51 List.
To see who-follows-who is a positive feature, to see who-mutes/blocks-who a negative.
There's a reason this feature isn't implemented in tradsoc, because it fires up tribalism and division like crazy. I mute some people that I like, they simply post too much or use caps lock which annoys me. I don't dislike them but now they think I do and so a completely unnecessary, useless and negative cycle of misunderstanding has started.

mine shows I haven't muted anyone. On Amethyst I don't even see a way to mute someone. I only see an option to block people. I've blocked around 10 profiles but it doesn't show on that website.
I think profiles should show how many people have blocked you/muted you and how many profiles that profile has blocked/muted.

I run mine on my Start9 as well. I believe there IS a way to set what relay you want to use, but it's not a setting you can just find in the UI. Has to be changed in the config file, if I remember correctly.
On a side note, I guess we found the point of failure for Alby Hub. 😂

It would be nice to be able to generate different connection strings and remove them if need be, so that we could essentially have different connections for different apps and manage them. I did this before by running different daemons but that's a bit much.

I run NWC on my start9 node, and it can be set to any relay. You just need to match the pairing client with the same relay. I believe. I didn't do it, lol.

I ran https://github.com/benthecarman/nostr-wallet-connect-lnd for over a year. I only recently switched to Alby Hub because I wanted to test it out and I wanted to see the different configuration options for multiple apps. @nprofile…p3r5's app doesn't have the ability for this, but you can configure limits and they work fine. I'm probably going back to this to be honest. Alby needs a way to allow people to choose their own relay so we're not reliant on them.

It's just an evolution like going from punched cards to doing assembly, going from horses to cars or living under the sky or in a cave to living under a roof.

I wonder if the best way to resolve this is to have a kind 1 client as a user's initial onboarding client, that gets them set up with a private key, their profile, and allows them to have a NIP-60 wallet right away or connect a wallet of their own, and then can be used as a signer app for any other Nostr app they want to log into. That way it is still just one app that has their nsec, and provides them instruction to back it up, of course, but also only one app that a new user needs to install to get onboarded.

Not according to me. According to real events that have actually happened where private keys were exposed because nsec login was permitted and though the dev believed he was being careful not to let that data be exposed, he found out there was something he hadn't taken into account.
Other clients may have actually intentionally gathered private keys from their users. A lot of early Nostr users may have had their private keys compromised from one client in particular. @nprofile…n6q3 would probably remember which one. It started with an A, if I remember correctly. No, not Amethyst.
I believe even @nprofile…pyug has talked about dropping support for nsec login in the past.

I have question GM since the beginning. BUT, it has made me think about the contrast of legacy social media (self centered and negativity) vs a community that at least say GM....

Yeah, I was talking about a stamp. I can get them made with a 3d printer, and then use a mallet to imprint them. I've seen other soapmaker's do it, but they are always using liquid oils in their soaps. Ie olive, castor, etc.

What client are you using that you have to manually scroll up to see new posts? Most clients start you at the top with the most recent note first, and then you scroll down, seeing the author's information first, then the content they posted, and finally reactions from others.
When new posts are added to the top while you are scrolling down, most clients offer some means of jumping back to the top to see them, which would then give you the same ordering of author info at the top, then content, and then reactions.
If a feed was in the reverse order, and new posts were added to the bottom, then you would just have the same problem you are talking about when you are scrolling up to see previous posts. You would see the reactions first, without context as to why they are there, then the content, without knowing who wrote it, and finally the author.
This might be "solved" if the client remembered where you left off in the chronology, so you would rarely be scrolling up. But that comes back to what I mentioned before about not needing any context from previous posts in the feed to understand the post you are currently reading. Clients don't "save your place" for you, because where you left off really doesn't matter for consuming microblogging content. There is no inherent requirement that the user see every post in their feed in the order it was posted like there is for chat feeds. One post does not organically develop from the post that came before it, and therefore none of its meaning relies on ensuring you read the posts in the order they were posted.
Now, you might be able to find a dev that agrees with you and wants to present kind 1 notes with the most recent notes getting added to the bottom of the feed as they come in, rather than the top, and saving where you left off so you are still almost always scrolling downward to see newer and newer posts, but I have yet to encounter one. Indeed, you are the first person I have encountered who wanted or expected that experience from a microblog feed. It may be something you would have to build yourself if you want to see it built at all.

Ordering is not the issue, scrolling is. Right now, new messages are stacked on top. From whatever post I'm on, to see newest posts you have to scroll in a manner where you see the bottom of the note filled with emojis and zaps with no context why these emojis and zaps exist because you haven't seen the text nor the author yet. Then you get to the top of post and then scroll in an opposite direction to read it. Then having to do the same stupid thing for each post.

I don't know of any Nostr clients that show "the entire post from the end to the beginning." Maybe we are referring to different things as the "post" though.
In the example below from Coracle, there is an "entire post" from @nprofile…86df , clearly displayed from beginning to end, with the beginning of the post at the top, and the end of the post at the bottom." Below that, is a completely separate post from @nprofile…535t, also displayed from beginning to end.

Each of these separate posts reads quite naturally, because you don't need any context from @nprofile…7ghk' post in order to understand @nprofile…dh0g's post. What order each post appears in is entirely irrelevant, because they are unrelated posts. If @nprofile…jppm' post appeared above @nprofile…mxr7's post, it would not provide any benefit to the reader of either post, since they are unrelated. If the post DOES need context from another post, users will reference that post from within their post, as @nprofile…ja5d has done with @nprofile…un3y's beer post above. This is done because the author cannot rely on anyone who reads their post to have also read the post they are were to. They may not even be following @nprofile…mzr9, after all. Though... that is admittedly unlikely, since almost everyone on Nostr follows him.
Indeed, chronological order is only one among many ways that microblogging posts can be ordered. All sorts of algorithms are being developed, and many are already available, for users to choose how posts ought to be prioritized in their feed. Algorithms are not a bad thing. Lack of choice about what algorithm you want to use is one of the biggest issues with centralized social media, and one that Nostr is aiming to fix.
It is entirely possible that you could create your own algorithm that arranged posts in your feed so that you could view all the posts from those you follow that were posted in the last 24 hours, but with a reverse chronology, so the oldest was at the top, rather than the newest. The most likely clients to allow you to do such a thing right now would be Primal or Coracle. I don't think they have that particular way to order notes as an option yet, though. It could probably be done with a DVM feed, which both of those clients also support, but I have never tried to create one of those myself.
In general, though, microblogging follows the same ordering of events as long-form blogging. If you go to a blog site, the most recent blog will be displayed at the top, and you can read a preview of it before deciding if you want to click into it to read more, or you can scroll down to see older blogs. Microblogging usually doesn't have a need to only show a preview, since posts are intended to be relatively short, but for posts that get a bit lengthy, clients often do the exact same thing as long-form blog sites, displaying a preview and giving the option to click into the post to read the rest if you want.
Therefore, most users expect that a microblogging app, if the posts are displayed chronologically, will put the newest posts at the top, and older posts at the bottom.
