It's really too bad another group hasn't adopted Nostr like the Bitcoiners did. People gave Bitcoiners shit for using the site and now I see many of those guys no longer posting. Congrats, I guess.
One of the issues I saw with Nostr was pop culture accounts like music, sports and what not weren't here. They're now using BlueSky and I'm seeing posts on Reddit pointing to them like X has/had.

As a dude, I'm also not pro or anti-abortion. Not that I don't think men can/should have a say, but I believe we should all be free to make our own choices. Like you said, your choices have consequences and you have to deal with them in the aftermath. That's part of the human existence.
My one belief in this whole thing is the subject should not be handled at the Federal level but rather at the State level. When dictated federally, the decision is made by our overlords and dictated upon the people whereas if it is a State issue, it is put on the ballot for the collective people to make the decision.

Theoretically if they have a long enough post history, they can develop a virtual persona bot. That's a new wrinkle but I was actually talking with my wife about this several years back.
It was the anniversary of her dad's passing and I said in the future some company would offer posthumous bots that have LLM'd email, social media, and other data sources so people could talk to their loved ones that have passed on. Guess Bitcoin got boring with the resurgence of nuclear news, the NYT has a new villain to attack. This article doesn't even really deserve a response. I think the very first comment I saw on the actual article was sufficient:

A couple things:
1) Most are twatter blue checks and get paid for their content and it can be significant. If they've built bases outside of BTC, they rake in even more and most cross pollinate into econ, investing, etc. I know someone personally that is a small account and makes several hundred (to low thousands) bucks monthly for shitposting.
2) Engagement is still better there. I know some of you guys get great engagement here, but mine is minimal even when I spend time responding to other's content. So they're unlikely interested in rebuilding that.
So I guess what I'm getting at is that between getting their welfare and engagement, they're willing to sacrifice the other stuff. Toss in the fact that there are UI/UX challenges (and some devs cry when you bring them up), I don't really blame them for not joining us.

You get one life. What benefit do you get by hodling forever? Unless you already were well off and FIAT flush, the beauty of Bitcoin's gains are you and your loved ones could experience things you may otherwise not be able to.

So per CNBC, the ILA turned down a 50% raise and is demanding 61.5% for workers. They already have an average salary of $147k and have had a 77% wage increase over the last 6 years.
This is going to be interesting to watch the Democrats mental gymnastics here since they are pro-union but one of Kamala's main talking points has been about price gouging. What happens to prices if they relent? Those higher prices will no doubt cascade down the supply chain to the consumer.
A couple more thoughts:
1) If you don't think the companies running those ports aren't leveraging their contacts to see how China has automated large swaths of their ports, you're kidding yourself.
2) If we didn't buy into the globalization is awesome bullshit narrative and had more manufacturing and industry stateside, maybe we wouldn't have to worry so much about the dock workers strike.
A potential central point of failure like this, especially when it comes to the delivery of critical goods to your populace, shows years of bad leadership of letting this situation manifest itself.

Research comes from the same country that just went through a nuclear phase-out, which produces the greenest, densest energy on the planet. Since their buffoonery, they've turned around and had to spend billions building out coal and gas plants because they've had energy issues and rolling blackouts.
Make it make sense.
Either climate change is a problem or it isn't. If it is, nuclear is the best energy generation technology we've got. Yes, it's expensive to build out... but so is the $38 trillion number they threw around in this article.
