A roadblock is something that stops progress. Taking a while to recreate (or even improve-upon) a mature enterprise system to a quality and service level that inspires confidence in professional software developers used to using GitLab or GitHub, is just normal dev work.
This is not going to be done by one person, speaking to no one, hiding in his basement. This is an effort from an entire group of different teams and persons, coordinating, forking, and discussing, over the course of years.
So long as we see steady progress and deliveries, it's fine.

I've only used doctrine and validator before. Nice to have doctrine back, with the database. Also implemented Monolog, since I'm used to that.

You would think that something as easy to build with, as Nostr -- that even comes with its own built-in communications channel and extremely cheap, global data storage -- would give rise to many large, low running-cost, volunteer-driven teams, building resilient, stable, complex systems.
But it doesn't, because everyone here is brainwashed by the People In Charge to think that this isn't possible. You can vibe-code some widget, but not build an enterprise system. Enterprise systems are only for the Chosen Few. We are all supposed to just sit around and wait for them to rain apps down on us, from the cloud, as if we were part of some cargo cult of software.
But isn't one goal of Nostr, that there not be any "People in Charge"? Isn't one goal of Nostr, that there not be a Chosen Few? How did we end up with both rules _and_ rulers?
Do you know what it costs to build software?
Time.
Knowledge.
Experience.
Determination.
Trust in your own capabilities. You can learn this stuff. You can form large teams. You can put your noses to the grind and churn out something grand. Nobody needs to pay you a salary, to get you to work, if you work for yourself, building something you want to have.
Just build it.

We'll see. @npub10np…tl5h actually kills off most of the spam and stuff and we'll soon have @npub1226…grkj also manning the gates. Should be fine.
We're also going to be implementing outbox for the social feed on #Alexandria, so we could just put a toggle in the settings to only use our standard relays. Then users can turn it off on that end, as a temporary fix. And we can blacklist relays for the outboxes, if they're too spammy.

I don't want to speculate about their motives, but I've complained about them replacing my content with image links to their cache server or Highlighter or whatnot, and they don't care. They say it's necessary for the UX, but it actually makes the app slower because you can write immediately, but reads get fed through a long, tiny data funnel and fiddled with.
It's why everyone thinks relays are slow. No, relays are really fast. Communication is nearly-instantaneous, in both directions.
But, since so many people use Primal, everyone who "has tried Nostr" has used Primal, so they determine what everyone thinks Nostr is.

They write directly to relays, but they read the notes over a caching server. Which is like a relay, but I think not really because it enriches the notes, rather than just storing them for a while and passing them on when you request.

Instead of just bitching at you, here are some tips for getting code out of your AI that even a beginner might be able to read and understand, and that might not be complete garbage:
Include in your prompt a file of instructions like:
1. Do not make any function longer than 5 lines of code, excluding documentation and logging. Limit all files to 250 lines of code.
2. Make the code highly object-oriented (or highly functional, whichever you prefer or depending upon your use case) and modular.
3. Include a logger, integrate it into every function, and make it so that I can run the app with different logging levels.
4. Write extensive user documentation for everything, including type definitions and examples for implementation.
5. Use constants wherever applicable, and group the constants at the top of the class or module.
6. Use private or protected wherever useful.
7. Refactor and simply the code, and remove any dead or redundant code, after each pass.
8. Separate concerns, and give all functions a human-readable name.
9. Add a description of the architecture, patterns, protocols (like Nostr), and libraries you expect to be preferred.
10. If implementing a GUI or other user interface, point it to an example of one you like and tell it to give you something similar.
Then submit your request in Gherkin scenarios, instead of prose.
Reorganize the scenarios into features -- which should be relatively small, like "broadcast button" -- and get it all sort of comprehensive and coherent, and then feed the AI one feature at a time, along with the prompt instruction file.
And then work that one feature until it's good, manually test it and refactor the code, AND THEN COMMIT THE CODE TO GIT, before asking it to do the next feature. Start a new conversation before the next feature. This is like high-speed agile development and will ALWAYS get a better result because it's iterative and therefore more like how the best human developers work.
If you ask it to fix some code, open a different chat and tell it that another AI wrote the code. Even better, ask another AI and tell it the name of the other one. Just trust me on this one.
Once you have it doing what you want it to do, and the state can be fixed and tagged, have it write unit tests to freeze the functionality. Then make sure the unit tests are easy to read and understand. Remove any test you don't understand. Avoid mocking relays. Use a local or ephemeral relay for testing, instead.
And then write your own integration test, with some realistic examples.

This is actually an incredibly expensive way to develop, tho. It's faster because you front-load all the computation, but that means all the "thinking" has to be paid for in advance, and you can't lower that price tag by doing some of the thinking yourself.
If I hadn't intervened and hit the stop, it would have just gone on to translate the entire Latin Bible, all the Saints histories, etc. and then hit me with the bill.
Also, it's almost always the case that the solutions offered are less efficient than what I would have built, and bug-fixes just pile more code on top of the bugs, rather than correcting anything.
Have to watch it like a hawk and reject every second or third suggestion because they're bullshit.

And I have a local nostr-rs-relay instance on my laptop and #Citrine 🍋 on my cell phone. Citrine is the most user-friendly personal relay, IMO because you can set a filter for what you want to download from where, and then click the "fetch events" button and it just goes relay-by-relay and pulls everything.

It is true. We built a special "GDPR delete" function that just went and replaced "Tom.Smith@gmail.com" with "nobody@nothing.com" and "Smith, Tom" with "Nobody, Whoever" and birthdate to "01.01.9999" or whatnot, and then we'd filter them out of queries.
You don't have to hard-delete an RDB class to get rid of one record. Just replace anything personal with gibberish.
