Updated Nostr-Login widget with "nostrconnect:" support!
Below is a short demo. We reworked the UI to group the options better, and the main addition is support for nostrconnect: nip46 connection strings. These allow us to have a one-click experience when connecting to key store, instead of having to enter a user name. Bonus - quick access to Amber app!
Npub.pro sites and all apps using latest nostr-login should be updated now.

Awesome, not it works! But it only creates a connection if I launch Amber on nostrconnect: string, if I scan or paste it it just jumps to homepage, no connection, nothing in logs. The string is the same in both cases, like this:

Most have given up because they just came to try "running a relay", not "to host my own content for me and my friends". They weren't creators, they were devs. And for creators, tools for relay management and access policies aren't there yet.
Running a public relay is hard - spam, costs, etc - I know what it's like with our big one. Running a personal relay that has strict access policies has no such costs. We run two specialized relays that have zero ongoing costs or scaling issues, just 1% CPU of a server we're paying for anyways.

The fact that we're observing some volatility doesn't mean it's different in principle. I don't see any difference in incentives. Only difference is initial audience - web was being grown by tech people, and the only way to participate was to host a web server. Nostr is growing with not tech but freedom-loving people for the most parrt, who for now have some free relays serving them.
Many tech people do have their own relays here, which aren't good for public use, and they shouldn't be. That's why we have outbox model, so that personal relays could participate. The bigger nostr gets, the more valuable being on nostr becomes, the more relays there will be, run by people with profit motives, for themselves and their following.

There is 100m self-hosted sites on the web, and owners _pay_ to host every one of them. Their incentive is their business/hobby/etc. On Nostr, creators/businesses have the same incentive to run their own relays and to pay for good relays to have their notes delivered to followers. There would be at least 10m relays if Nostr got widely adopted, not counting all those phone relays serving as local caches.
Creators pay for web hosting. Creators will pay for nostr relays/media-hosting/etc.
I know free social platforms made this a bit non-obvious, but please look around the web. Hundred million people and businesses pay to have their own online space. Nothing new here.

Import content from Ghost to Nostr, anyone?
Here is a work-in-progress tool for that: https://npub.pro/import-ghost
You can bring articles from your Ghost site to Nostr and make them accessible for people here to zap/react/comment.
Eventually the tool will let you copy all website settings from Ghost to an npub.pro site. For now - content only.
Ghost is great, but nothing beats adding your cryptographic signature to your article and broadcasting it to an open interoperable network, right?!

When creating a website you choose which hashtags to show - it's not only about navigation, it's about what content is shown on the site.
Main page shows everything you've selected (all hashtags you've chosen) by default, but you can choose specific hashtags for homepage in settings.
Whenever you post something with selected hashtags it appears on the website.
And "long form posts" are posts you can make using habla.news or highlighter.com - they have title, summary, and allow for formatting (links, lists, subtitles etc).

You can login using one-time code - choose Login with DM, enter your npub, get a code a nostr direct message and enter the code. Works perfectly on mobile, no need to set up nsec.app or extension.

Yes we don't store your content, it's stored on relays, so you should publish to multiple relays and also make local backups of your notes so you could rebroadcast them if need arises. Not sure about backup services, I think I saw something but can't find it.

I understand, but our primary use case for nsec.app is to onboard people on the web (on nostr sites) into a web-based key storage, without asking for extension install, so we're focusing on that part. If someone adds nip46 to extension I'm totally fine with that, it's just not our focus.

The post contains a link to your wordpress blog, Damus just shows the preview of that link. Npub.pro shows the preview too if you open the post, but it can't take a photo from the preview link and use it as the photo of a post, it needs a direct link to the photo inside the post itself.

It's just a way for you to mark this session as "I shared it with this npub". If you gave someone access by confirming a login on their device and then mark a session using this option, then you'd be able to filter the activity and connections on the key's screen - you'll be able to select "yourself" or "that npub you shared with". This is some beginnings of shared access, just for reporting.

Oh that's an interesting idea of using extension key as app key... need to think it through.
Meanwhile, if they're gonna use just one app, they could try to log in as your main key on their device, you would confirm on main device, add needed permissions (manually or on request) and then they'd just keep using it? If they'd need to re-login you'd have to confirm again, but once the session is created they should be able to use it just fine?

Thanks! This post has hashtags mentioned in the content, but not in event's "t" tags, which are used by npub.pro to fetch the content. Looking through the plugin code, I guess it was supposed to offer you to select which hashtags to include in the post, did it? Could you please try again and include one of hashtags you've specified on your npub.pro site (#travel, #photography etc)? Maybe include a screenshot if you did that already? Thank you!

Do you confirm using popups, or do you keep nsec.app tab open? Popups should show the app's domain name, not just npub, you wouldn't have to edit the name manually.

I have not tried using nsecbunker to share access, but from my understanding what you want is:
- add npubs that are allowed to control the main key
- set permissions for each such npub - is they can accept connections, confirm certain kinds, etc
- then if one of those users are trying to log into an app, they would confirm the connection/signing themselves (but within limits that you've specified)
- all this without your friends getting access to your main nsec, which is stored safely on one of your devices

Hi, nsec.app and bunker-urls have nothing to do with browser extensions. Every time you log in to an app, the app generates a temporary nsec/npub which is used to connect to your keys inside nsec.app (and that temporary npub you see in connection requests). Each time a connection is established the new key is generated by an app, and you have to approve it in nsec.app. Limited shared access is impossible atm - you'd need to basically give your friends full access to nsec.app so that they themselves would be able to approve the connection requests without your help. I have limited shared access feature outlined on the roadmap, but it's actually quite hard to implement and you're only a second person to ask for it, so I guess it will take a while before we start working on it.
Can you please tell me more about what your expectation was with browser extensions + nsec.app? Did you mean nsec stored in extension would somehow be "allowed" in nsec.app and then something good could happen? Thanks.

Npub.pro doesn't store your posts, it just pulls them from relays, so if you don't have a relay that stores your post for long-term, the npub.pro won't help.

Nsec.app only exports nsec in encrypted form, Amethyst supports it, not sure about others. I'd suggest creating keys elsewhere, i.e. in nak.nostr.com and then importing into nsec.app if you need the raw nsec.
I have been publishing using Habla news and nsec.app just fine. Are you on iOS? Which browser? Anything related to 'blocked popups' etc when you tried to post?

Long form is a separate kind, supports markdown.
Some apps show it on the feed, some don't.
Habla highlighter and Yakihonne should all be interoperable, create in any of them.
Not sure what's better for privacy. We don't ask for email etc if that's your concern.
Npub.pro website is a nostr event describing who the author is and what content is included. Then our engine converts it into html pages.
You get npub.pro subdomain by default. Can also self host on any web server.

Ideally images and videos are transcoded to optimal format and then several copies are created with different resolution etc. And that could be done on client or server. And if on server then there is trust involved. And then appropriate version of file has to be served depending on client needs. And then it should be content-addressable, with as little trust to third parties as possible. That's just what comes to mind, and it's already much wider scope than what blossom covers. I am not saying nip96 covers it all, but it's authors are trying to reconcile all this. Seems like a good effort to me.

That indeed felt overly negative. Nip96 is built by people who understand media hosting, and that has to be reconciled with our desire for verifiable replication etc. Media hosting is 99% of current file uploads, feels pretty important.

We tried this with nsec.app, and went back to one req per confirm screen, because then there is more space for showing details of what the app is doing - raw json, raw encrypted payload, users added to contact list etc. Just saying, if that adds something to your design decisions. Maybe also check Amber, they are quite ahead of the curve here, i.e. support approval by nip, not just kind.

That's correct, what I am saying is that for whatever reason, maybe bcs it wasn't supported by other extensions, most apps don't do this, and if started would get errors from existing extensions, and thus it's not gonna be of any benefit for most apps.
