This is insane... If you don't know whats going on here then your probably better of not knowing. its some pretty crazy JavaScript stuff and some dynamic Typescript types.
But the result is an API that is based on RxJS observables and can be chained as deep as you want and then ended with `$first(<timeout>)` to produce a promise with a timeout, or `.subscribe` to subscribe to the RxJS observable.
Next ill have to find a way to write docs for this so Claude and other AI models can understand how to use this.

Found a strange bug with this event in noStrudel. turns out there is a bug in applesauce that lets users delete events of other users... Sent me down a long rabbit hole of how delete (kind 5) events should be handled on the client

Applesauce explicitly transforms all hashtags to lowercase when creating or parsing events content. I cant find the nip anymore 😢 that defined that hashtags MUST always be lowercase but its needed for the "t" tag to work correctly with dump relays
that or relays need to transform all "t" tags to lowercase when indexing 😞

The issue with IndexedDB is the indexes... Ironically when you insert data into stores with 5+ indexes it waits till the first read to compute the indexes, at which point it freezes the tab for 20+ seconds (on a good machine). Its usable with <5k rows but anything more than 10k rows and things start to really slow down
SQLite in WASM is much more reliable as long as you can handle the shutdown and parallel tabs correct so it does not corrupt the database. the biggest hurdle to get it running is enabling OPFS for the app and loading the 2Mb+ wasm file
And finally, the best way I've found to store events is to just use the users local relay (nostr-relay-tray) ws://localhost:4869 if it exists. usually so much faster and can hold 1 million+ events. I built https://github.com/hzrd149/window.nostrdb.js a while back so that smaller nostr apps could easily connect to the local relay without needing to think about it
Either way, if its possible to put the local event cache in a separate thread and reuse that thread between tabs then that really allows apps to play with new ways of loading and caching data. maybe even remote event cache on another machine?

IndexedDB is the reason I'm looking to make multiple threads. getting sick of it freezing the main thread. but its built-in to all browsers so it makes sense to use it as a default
Then maybe have an option to detect and use the local nostr-relay-tray or a SQLite WASM database

The idea is the bulk of the apps nostr logic (connections, event storage, subscriptions) are handled in a service worker so that the main rendering thread in the tabs don't lock up so much. also in theory this should be more efferent since the service worker can handle the signature verification and duplicate events from multiple relays

A first draft of a crazy idea, a framework for a multi-threaded web app framework. If nostr web apps were built like this then they would only make a single relay connection for all open tabs and all open tabs would sync profiles / events / follow lists.
No idea how far ill get but this does look possible... 🤔

Out of all the package managers (even npm) go is by far the easiest to install and maintain packages on your system. everything goes in the $HOME/go folder. and it installs directly from github
I just had to update nak and it was so much easier then I thought it was going to be. no download, no manually installing a .deb file

@npub1agh…mhct can we get first class support for community app stores? I want to publish my own library of random nostr apps but most of them are too highly specific to publish to the main Umbrel app store.
And there is no way I can tell my friends or other users to go to Store -> Small upper-right menu -> Community App Stores -> Enter URL -> Finally browse apps

The privacy gain is a nice side effect of using probabilistic filters but not main benefit as far as I'm concerned. the benefit to using them is allowing clients to quickly check if a server says its hosting blobs.
The existing HEAD /<sha256> endpoint is a nice way to check the status of a single hash. but when the client needs to check >100 hashes it get really spamy. probabilistic filters could allow clients to check the status of almost an unlimited number of hashes with a single request.

If anyone wants to help out and contribute to #blossom then stress testing this would be great.
Blossom needs a way for clients to quickly check if 1000s of blobs are present on a server and its a bonus if it can be done without the server knowing which blobs are being checked. (reduces ability for server to lie)
If no one else is able to work on this ill probably take a stab at it, but its going to take me a while since my time is limited and it would be much better to have some help

Small improvements. making it easier to connect the relay pool with the event store using the loaders in applesauce.
Now instead of needing to manually create both an event loader and a replaceable loader (profiles) there is a new unified loader that handles both and method that automatically sets it up with the event store so profiles can be loaded by calling eventStore.profile

I have a small mental list, but usually a short 5 minute session with Claude or cursor in the repo will find some docs that are out of date.
Usually my process for updating the docs is to tell the AI what files Ive changed and tell me what docs are out of date. then update them. then I review and cleanup the doc changes. commit... profit?

I always find the occasional nostr drama interesting. I try to keep my mouth shut, read through the comments, and find people I should mute or avoid in the future.
Its also interesting to see how some people are determined to be victims or oppressed even when no one is putting them down.
