I think Bitcoin will be the world currency but may not be the universal currency. You need forks of bitcoin or some other commodity to go interplanetary or at the very least to go interstellar. It's kind of like how tobacco was a good currency in colonial Virginia, as it was tied to the local resources and proof of work in that area.

I keep seeing people #vibing projects talking about running out of token, then I realized some of my friends have just been building their apps through the online chat interfaces, with Anthropic or OpenAI directly.
I have some suggestions. Not everyone likes the rate or bleeding edge quality of GitHub Copilot, but its $100/year for "unlimited" usage, plus access to like 10 models in chat, with about 5-6 models available in agent mode, where it basically writes code in your IDE for you. I've hit some rate limits when letting 3 Claude 4 agents cook in the background just rabidly clicking continue while testing this. That was only for a single model, I was able to switch to Gemini and continue for a while longer. On my regular daily usage, I never run into limits.
I've heard similar results with Cursor, who seems to be more on the bleeding edge but you have to use their IDE which is not for me. I also have no idea how the payment system is structured.
If you want to keep using your token based LLMs, you can use Continue.dev or Cline linked up to most of the big providers you already pay for in your IDE. VS Code is the most supported.
Finally you can use Cline or Continue with your own LLM server like ollama, or ollama + owui an the even recommend the models to use, but you'll need some serious hardware to get anywhere near the quality of the paid LLMs. My hardware is a little too dated to really use it full time. I love the privacy but it's not practical for me yet. Once LLM prices go up compared to hardware, I may invest. These two also have far more tuning abilities than Copilot or others IMO, just lack the inlegence.

I love my house. It is so comfortable. It has resort life vibes. There are so many windows with natural light that there is barely a wall to hang a painting on. The master is off to one side with a full bathroom. The floor plan is completely open built around a center stone fireplace. The kitchen is a modern galley with concrete counter tops and a wolf range that looks into the dining room and the living room. The den sits offset looking into backyard. Big double doors open up to a huge covered patio. An open patio and small grassy areas buffer a large swimming pool in fenced yard with big trees. There is plenty of room for the dogs to run and gardens to tend. The full basement has spare bedrooms, a full bath, a laundry room bomb shelter and that big 90's like basement family room with cozy oversized couch and a tv. The house is a moderately updated fifties brick rancher, long slung low with all the subtle mid century modern elements, The floors are hardwood and heated tile. I like to open the doors and windows, put Frank Sinatra on the turntable, take a dive in the cold pool first thing in the morning and then walk around shirtless and barefoot like a king while drinking coffee and shitposting on nostr. gm

Yeah. It's catchy slogans to drive home the message of distrust clearly. It's important that we have extremely high standards for trust and are aware of the possibilities. The idea that an IOU is completely worthless just because there's a 0.1% chance it will become irredeemable, is a little overkill, but it drives home the message as quickly and effectively as possible that you don't know, that there is that real chance. It's like an oversimplified guideline.
The way it all works in reality is we tailor our risk tolerance to ourselves, as well as craft a risk model, an understanding of how this all works, in our heads. We use the tech but allocate this percent or that percent to onchain, liquid, lightning, cashu, etc... we engage our friends with certain subsets of that and help them allocate for what makes sense for their use cases and risks. The simple message is just a good reminder for plebs who've been in a long time, and a good initiation for new plebs who are ready to become paranoid.

My focus is back on Damus at the moment. There’s a lot of things sorely needed to bring the iOS app up to par with Nostr protocol standards so that it can scale — spam mitigation, NIP-17 DMs, Blossom, outbox model, deletion requests, adding polish to the UI. etc.
I also just shipped some improvements with the Nostash signer. It’s at a stable place now, so I don’t need to touch that.

There is no reason why an extension cannot post to nostr - 'Share-on-Nostr' does exactly this its just not designed for posting notes only sharing links so to use it this way requires work. Still 1000x quicker than most web clients

I didn’t want to go too into it at work but I discussed a few things about how dollars can just be printed and bitcoin can’t, and said they will just create a new currency once they are done with Bitcoin.
I explained a few points, she said she wished she had bought back in the day when her friend bought for $400/coin.
I did talk to another who said he did have some and that made me happy.
Poor sod was so sure that Bitcoin was going to go up that he borrowed enough fiat to buy 99.2 Bitcoin. However, lenders aren't about to risk losing their principal, so when the price went down far enough, he was forced to sell everything just to pay the lenders back, losing all of his own money that he'd put into the deal, as well.

After several years of FOMO, I finally attended HRF's #OsloFreedomForum. I took a friend who's political but not Bitcoiner, so I had the experience of seeing it through someone else's eyes, as well as my own. Obviously there's a lot to unpack: talking face-to-face with activists who are working in real danger is confronting in itself, and hearing their experiences fresh and recent is an emotional and impactful experience.
I was surprised, however, at the large number of Bitcoiners at the conference: it's not a Bitcoin conference, but the HRF (particularly @npub1trr…hdpu) has been courting bitcoiners for technical assistance (and, presumably, donations) for several years now and it has resulted in a fascinating intersection. Those present are builders, not (just?) talkers. My non-bitcoiner friend noted the remarkable humility of those present: an insightful comment.
Of all the discussions I had, the one which haunts me most is a conversation with Peter McCormack (ex- WBD, now rejuvinating his home town and trying to raise awareness of UK's pressing misgovernance issues). To paraphrase: "Where are the Bitcoiners improving the world? Wasn't that what this was about?". In a context of three days' exposure to people who are dedicating their lives to something much bigger than software, this question really affected me.
I was expecting to leave the conference with a list of software priorities, and I did. But I still feel it's inadaquate, and so I'm now pondering the question: "what else should I be doing?".

At my niece's graduation ceremony tonight.
They do the pledge of allegiance. Everyone stands up and im the only one who remained seated. Listening to the entire crowd recite the propaganda pledge drilled into us since we were old enough to go to school. I was taken aback at the whole thing. How many just do so out of the inability to question what it is they are doing? How many do it for fear of social ostracization? The photo below explains exactly how i know alot of us feel around the " normal" people.
I know better now, i too was once ignorant, i chose to learn and unlearn the things i was taught. We will continue to feel like this but everytime we choose our principles over wanting to fit in we can ignite the flame of liberty in thoae around us, the sleeping lions, awaiting to be awoken. It’s really weird and I don’t understand it. If you have a debit card you are prompted to enter a PIN, but you can just hit a button to bypass it and run it as a credit card, which doesn’t really do anything different, except you can’t ask for cash back at the register. And some places still ask for a signature, but you can literally write a smiley face because nobody writes a signature on the back of their cards anymore for the merchant to compare.
