I mean… I don’t think wearing clothes at all, and thereby covering beauty, is a sin (though you could argue that the way we do it, for propriety rather than pure adornment, celebration, and comfort, it is a consequence of sin)
I DO think “covering” personhood is a sin, and I can’t help but see the progressive swallowing up of women in more garments, so concurrent with their being swallowed up in oppression, as symbolic of that.
But I believe the sins here are exerting control over other human beings. Tyranny, gaslighting, and spiritual abuse.
Saying “dress this way or we are entitled to attack you” and “dress this way or you are sinning” and causing women to reduce themselves in order to survive is the evil here, not simply clothes.

This is one of the prime examples of “just because it’s in the Bible doesn’t mean God approved; to the contrary.”
It doesn’t always say “and this angered the Lord” because we are supposed to understand that without being told.
Having a concubine, let alone abandoning her to be abused, is so far removed from “she is bone of my bone, flesh of my flesh” and the Love that God Is that it is supposed to stand out as starkly as it does to us.
I don’t think modern people are removed from this behavior at all. Even in nations that are “at peace” internally, you have cruel criminals and crueler politicians perpetuating horrific evils every day.

Don’t buy a home to get into the housing market; buy a home to have a home if you don’t want to deal with a landlord (I.e., telling you how you can’t paint or garden, etc.)
If the school is government-run, I hope you can be persuaded to consider other options. They are awful in so many ways.

Whoever is good at pushups:
I think I don’t really do pushups correctly, mostly because I don’t think my back stays straight, but probably many other flaws.
I want to join the #100pushups gang …eventually… and have started with a small number of knee pushups a day. This does not satisfy me; I want to do the real thing correctly as I scale up to 100 a day.
Are any of you willing to take 15-45 minutes or so to provide tips and corrections over something like Hivetalk? Looking for someone who will not ridicule my abysmal knowledge of basic exercises, but instead gently help me overcome it.

Today I confirmed that someone was on my mutelist probably by mistake (a thorough review of their profile several weeks back showed they had not met my criteria for muting).
I usually take some care with these things, so I can’t figure that out.
My reason for bringing this up is something that has been troubling my mind for a while for going unsaid:
I want to make sure that EVERYONE knows that they are welcome in #nostrbiblestudy as long as they are respectful to the other participants and the spirit of the group, showing up to learn in good faith.
It doesn’t matter if I’ve muted you, by accident or on purpose. It doesn’t matter if we’ve never spoken or if we have had heated arguments. What I hope to accomplish in that room is vastly bigger than my feed, my preferences, or the past. I leave all that outside.

Seeing the height of this bridge compared to the boat made me wonder…
We can trace the width of our modern road lanes and railroads back to the width of Roman roads because the modern systems were based on the ancient one, in turn based on the width a carriage pulled by two yoked horses had to be.
Is there the same thing for boating and sailing culture? Are the heights of various boats based on the clearances of various ancient bridges, for example?
Boating culture has always seemed like such a rich and alien world, full of its own traditions. From the outside looking in, at least, it seems distinct cross-culturally as well.
It’s one thing I wish I could’ve learned more about from my mom.

Lucky number 13~
Yesterday’s church chili cookoff was fun! I think it’s the most chili entries I’ve ever seen. My first year at this church I think there were only about six.
@npub1jrx…htaq had been excited about the opportunity to win Spiciest Chili since I talked about entering, but my concern was more with making a tasty chili, not a spicy one. After all, I’ll have to eat the leftovers!

Maybe it was the 1/4 c chipotle adobo, or the close to 1 c roasted mixed hot peppers 🤔
They had no idea how much hotter it could have been 🤣
My mother in law won Best Chicken Chili, as well. As winners, we got our pick of towels as prizes and I found this set with a sweet embroidered stag 🦌
This is the first chili I’ve made in years. It was delicious. Making chili with stew beef is a revelation to someone like me who hates the texture of ground meat. I’m really looking forward to eating the leftovers (with some added beans) and my leftover sourdough 🤤 glad to have just a little left over of both cumin seed and bacon pepper jack loaves!

After removing from the fridge, I always add more flour and some cane sugar and honey, which definitely gets consumed and turned into loft.

I found some for sale at my state fair claimed never to warp. But it was over $100 for a SMALL baking sheet! I’m gonna need a demonstration at least that it doesn’t warp, not just assurance… and even then, whoa
I bet there are great options for cheaper
