my kids and i spent the afternoon on the back patio eating take-out mexican food and watermelon, drinking sun tea, chatting about travel, playing with the puppies, and generally loafing. my mother is at the dentist and i will probably chat with her later. i checked my emails and sassed wealth management. they seem upset they "lost" my footprint which is ironic because they never had it anyway. i paid the hotel for the kids' reservation with a wire transfer. i think we will have spaghetti for dinner. i might read the news, i probably will not get to the ecology papers today, i might write lovely things later.

O número de pessoas que recebem o Benefício de Prestação Continuada (BPC) aumentará em 111% até 2060. O dado faz parte de uma previsão do Ministério do Desenvolvimento Social (MDS) anexada ao Projeto de Lei de Diretrizes Orçamentárias (PLDO) de 2026.
Segundo a previsão do governo, a quantidade de beneficiários deve saltar de 6,7 milhões em 2026 para 14,1 milhões em 2060. O BPC é um tipo de aposentadoria paga a idosos que não têm direito à previdência social e a pessoas com deficiência.

Na semana passada, o secretário executivo do Ministério da Fazenda, Dario Durigan, demonstrou preocupação com a derrubada do veto presidencial sobre o BPC.
No dia 17 de junho, o Congresso Nacional derrubou 12 vetos presidenciais, dentre eles, o veto total ao projeto que dispensa o aposentado por invalidez e quem recebe o BPC de passar por revisão médico-pericial. Na prática, o projeto facilita o acesso ao benefício.
Envelhecimento da população
Os dados do MDS ainda mostram que, em 2045, o BPC terá mais pessoas com deficiência do que idosos recebendo o benefício. No ano seguinte, em 2046, cada grupo terá cerca de 5,5 milhões de cadastrados.
Entretanto, o quadro deverá virar nos anos subsequentes em decorrência do envelhecimento da população. Em 2060, serão 7,9 milhões de idosos e 6,2 milhões de pessoas com deficiência recebendo o benefício.

The US Supreme Court just lifted a lower court's order that required the Trump administration to give people 10 days' notice and a chance to object before deporting them to a third country.

“When illegal aliens commit crimes in this country, they are typically ordered removed. But when those crimes are especially heinous, their countries of origin are often unwilling to take them back. As a result, criminal aliens are often allowed to stay in the United States for years on end, victimizing law-abiding Americans in the meantime.”

The government has tried to speed up the deportation process “by removing aliens to third countries that have agreed to accept them.”
“Convincing third countries to accept some of the most undesirable aliens requires sensitive diplomacy, which involves negotiation and the balancing of other foreign-policy interests,” it stated.
Now, the administration can proceed with fast-track deportations of “some of the worst of the worst illegal aliens” to countries it has made deals with, such as South Sudan.
Of course, not everyone is happy.
“The ramifications of the Supreme Court’s order will be horrifying,” said Trina Realmuto, executive director of the National Immigration Litigation Alliance.

A irmã da jovem Juliana Marins usou as redes sociais para dizer que o resgate deve ser retomado nas próximas horas, nesta segunda-feira (23). O vídeo foi postado em um horário equivalente a quase 6h da manhã de terça-feira (24) na Indonésia - são 11 horas de diferença no fuso horário. Juliana caiu durante uma trilha no Monte Rinjani, no fim da madrugada de sábado (21).
"Tá chegando a noite, a nossa expectativa aumenta, o resgate vai ser retomado. A gente está na expectativa de ver a Juliana novamente, viva e bem aqui com a gente", afirma Mariana Marins.
"Quero agradecer toda energia positiva, todo carinho que vocês tem enviado. Tenho certeza que ela está sentindo isso lá agora e isso está mantendo ela viva. Eu sinto isso. A gente não tem confirmação do estado, mas tenho certeza que isso tá fazendo muita diferença. Vamos trazer a Juliana pra casa", agradece ela.
Na última operação de resgate, conseguiram localizar o ponto onde a jovem está. Juliana passou a chegar mais de 24 horas desaparecida no desfiladeiro.
Inicialmente, ela tinha caído 300 metros abaixo, mas depois escorregou por mais cerca de 250 a 300 metros. Ela foi localizada imóvel por um drone.

O perfil criado pela irmã para dar informações sobre o caso fez críticas às autoridades da Indonésia. “O parque segue com a sua atividade normalmente, turistas continuam fazendo a trilha, enquanto Juliana está precisando de socorro! Nós não sabemos o estado de saúde dela! Ela segue sem água, comida e agasalhos! Juliana vai passar mais uma noite sem resgate por negligência!”, escreveu.
Aparentemente é padrão nessa época do ano que o clima se comporte dessa forma, eles têm ciência disso e não agilizam o processo de resgate! Lento, sem planejamento, competência e estrutura!”
O resgate havia sido suspenso neste domingo (22) também por causa das condições climáticas difíceis, com muita neblina.
A irmã de Juliana, Mariana, disse em entrevista ao Fantástico que ainda tem esperança de que ela seja encontrada.
Desde fevereiro, ela fazia um mochilão pela Ásia, tendo passado por Filipinas, Vietnã e Tailândia antes de chegar à Indonésia.

A informação que temos é que até agora não conseguiram chegar até ela, pois as cordas não tinham tamanho suficiente, além da baixa visibilidade”, afirmou Mariana, que está no Brasil.
Drone flagra brasileira que caiu em trilha na Indonésia
A irmã também denunciou que vídeos divulgados como sendo do momento do resgate foram forjados.
"Todos os vídeos que foram feitos são mentiras, inclusive o do resgate chegando nela. O vídeo foi forjado para parecer isso, junto com essa mensagem associada a ele", disse Mariana.
A embaixada do Brasil na Indonésia diz que acompanha o caso e que pediu que a operação de resgate seja feita mesmo à noite. Ao Fantástico, o embaixador admitiu que repassou informações incorretas no início, com base em relatos imprecisos das autoridades locais.
Segundo nota do Itamaraty, dois funcionários da embaixada do Brasil na Indonésia foram enviados, no sábado (21), para acompanhar pessoalmente os esforços pelo resgate.

Em uma postagem nas redes sociais, Mariana deu detalhes sobre a queda da irmã na trilha. Segundo ela, Juliana saiu com um grupo de 5 pessoas e um guia local. O grupo já estava em seu 2º dia de trilha, quando Juliana disse que estava cansada para continuar.
"O guia falou: 'então descansa' e seguiu viagem. A gente tinha recebido a informação que o guia tinha ficado com ela, que ela tinha tropeçado e caído. Não foi isso que aconteceu".
"O guia só seguiu viagem para chegar até o cume. A gente só tem essas informações de mídia local. Juliana ficou desesperada porque ninguém mais voltou e caiu. Abandonaram Juliana", disse Mariana.

Imagens divulgadas neste domingo (22), pelo Fantástico, programa da TV Globo, mostraram o momento em que um homem deixou o sítio em São Pedro (SP) onde foram encontrados os corpos de José Eduardo Ometto Pavani, de 69 anos, e Rosana Ferrari, de 61 anos - mortos em abril deste ano (saiba mais abaixo).

A Polícia Civil recuperou boa parte de imagens de câmeras de segurança do casal entre o trajeto de Araraquara (SP), cidade em que moravam, e São Pedro.
A família de José Eduardo disse que ele era cauteloso no volante e que estranhou a velocidade com que o carro passou pela chácara. Nas imagens, um homem é visto ao fundo abandonando o local a pé e correndo. Confira acima 👆

A Polícia Militar (PM) encontrou os corpos do casal dentro de um veículo estacionado na própria chácara, na serra de São Pedro, em 6 de abril deste ano.

Principais suspeitos
De acordo com a investigação da Polícia Civil, os executores agiram a mando de advogados Fernanda e Hércules Barroso, que prestavam serviços ao casal desde 2013 e que teriam interesse no patrimônio das vítimas, estimado em R$ 12 milhões.
Já os executores são, segundo a polícia, Carlos César Lopes de Oliveira, motorista particular e ex-candidato a vereador em São Carlos, e Ednaldo José Vieira.

Segundo a polícia, o casal saiu de Araraquara em direção a São Pedro no dia do crime. Câmeras de segurança registraram o veículo passando por um posto de combustível e um pedágio na estrada.
Advogados suspeitos de mandar matar casal de clientes milionários em SP: veja cronologia do caso
Uma testemunha foi a última a ver o casal com vida, na Estância Morro Verde, propriedade das vítimas, que fica próxima ao local onde os corpos foram encontrados. Ela relatou que os dois estavam acompanhados de outra pessoa e pareciam ter uma conversa de negociação envolvendo a venda ou locação do terreno.
Como os suspeitos foram identificados
Todas as pessoas que passaram pelo local foram identificadas a partir de dados de telefonia e cruzamento de informações, informou a Polícia Civil. Dessa forma, eles chegaram em Carlos César Lopes de Oliveira e Ednaldo José Vieira.
Segundo a polícia, Carlos César era segurança dos advogados Fernanda e Hércules Barroso. A investigação cibernética constatou que os suspeitos da execução estavam com os advogados dias antes da data do crime naquele local.

Disputa judicial e motivação
Segundo a investigação, a relação do casal de empresários com os advogados começou em 2013 quando José Eduardo comprou 16 flats em São Carlos (SP). No entanto, o empreendimento não teve sucesso. José Eduardo ficou responsável pela execução do projeto, mas também não teve êxito. Como resultado, os credores que haviam adquirido unidades no local ingressaram com ações judiciais contra o casal.
Para proteger o próprio patrimônio, José tentou transferi-lo para uma nova empresa e a Justiça entendeu como fraude. Posteriormente, os bens foram repassados à advogada Fernanda Barroso, sob o pretexto de pagamento de honorários e por meio de uma holding. A operação chamou atenção da polícia pelo valor R$ 12 milhões, considerado elevado pela delegada Juliana Ricci, uma das responsáveis pelo caso.
A polícia acredita que os advogados encomendaram os assassinatos para garantir a posse definitiva dos bens das vítimas.
Prisões e defesa
Os quatro suspeitos foram presos na terça-feira passada (17). Na residência dos advogados, a polícia apreendeu três armas de fogo. Em nota, a defesa dos advogados afirmou que o caso ainda está sob investigação e que não há provas concretas da participação dos clientes no crime. Também foi informado que já foi protocolado um pedido para que ambos respondam ao processo em liberdade.

Recent electoral victories are chipping away at California’s woke madness, and even the woke Angelenos and San Franciscans who insisted on voting left are tired of getting left behind in their brazen destruction. They want a change. One of the worst, wokest county district attorneys in the country (LA County District Attorney George Gascon) lost his job last year in a total rout. Republican-turned-common-sense-independent DA Nathan Hochman took his place, and he is cleaning house, even more conservative than the DA who preceded Gascon. San Francisco’s BLM-on-steroids mayor, London Breed, lost to the more centrist (at least by San Francisco standards) Levi-Strauss heir Daniel Lurie, who is trying to restore some semblance of law and order to the city.
Even former Democratic Sheriff of LA County, Alex Villanueva, moved to the right when his deputies started getting assassinated. He resisted the COVID-19 lockdown orders during his tenure. What about the current governor?
Gavin Newsom, who as mayor of San Francisco appointed George Gascon to replace Kamala Harris as San Francisco District Attorney, is the real train wreck. He’s presided over and accelerated the epic, public collapse of our once Golden State.
The state’s budget has ballooned on his watch, while Californians are fleeing as fast as they can every day. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he locked down businesses, ordered mask mandates across the state, and released prisoners early. He deemed pot shops and the porn shops essential businesses, but he ordered the churches, charities, and legitimate businesses closed. Unreal! He gives food, medical care, and schooling to illegal aliens, while everyday citizens clamor for justice and a decent living, and get neither. He’s the face—hair gel and all—for California’s failure today.

What accounts for Gavin’s near-sociopathic disconnect? He has never lost a general election in California. Aside from losing a non-partisan 1995 city council race in Tiburon, CA, Newsom is undefeated politically. From his two terms on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors to two terms as mayor to his election as lieutenant governor (defeating a Republican incumbent) and then governor, Newsom has been unstoppable. Imagine what would happen if Newsom ran and won the Democratic nomination. Is there any hope for California with this guy in charge?

There I discovered for the first time what psoriasis was and that I had inherited it from my mother.
