also, yeah, not to forget, i totally flattened the concurrency of the event store, so, it also is a solution for that, excessive amounts of threads in each query were a component of the resource leak problem i found with khatru/eventstore design
i have also added, btw, an index to the event store that lets you go from event serial to having the pubkey, event ID and created_at of the event, without having to decode any JSON, this was built to enable the different API i made that the /filter endpoint only returns event IDs, meaning the client can then paginate them arbitrarily, without pushing that work to the relay
there are some cases where it's better to paginate on the networked DB and i don't think that the client use case is that, this way, clients can grab a whole massive list of event IDs matching a query and pick at them as the user wants to see them

I first purchased Bitcoin and started thinking more about it in 2017 or so.
I kinda knew what mining was and how it worked, but just enough to have BTC "click" in my head.
I have focused more on stacking sats, educating and onboarding beginners along the way, but mining was always in the back on my head to explore at some point.
A couple weeks ago I ordered a Bitaxe Gamma 601 from @nprofile…62jx and fired it up.
I completely understand that solo mining with a Gamma is a lotto ticket at best for mining a block, but setting this up and digging in has taught me more about mining in less than 7 days than I picked up along the way over 7 years.
It also has me looking at some cool little projects in the near future.

Publieke omroep over vier jaar op de schop, omroep NTR verdwijnt
De publieke omroep gaat vanaf 2029 flink op de schop. Dat heeft minister Bruins (Media) in een brief aan de Tweede Kamer bekendgemaakt. Hij wil onder meer dat er fors wordt gesnoeid in het aantal ledenomroepen. De elf ledenomroepen die er nu zijn, moeten ook organisatorisch nauw gaan samenwerken in vier of hooguit vijf 'omroephuizen', die vast onderdeel van het bestel worden.
Omroep NTR wordt niet in één van de omroephuizen opgenomen, schrijft Bruins. Hij gaat nog uitwerken hoe het aanbod van deze omroep "gewaarborgd blijft". De minister wil zelf het woord opheffen niet in de mond nemen. "Ik hoop dat de mooie programma's blijven", zegt de minister over NTR.
Die omroep maakt nu programma's over kunst en cultuur, minderheden, jeugd, educatie en achtergrondjournalistiek. Bekende programma's zijn bijvoorbeeld Het Sinterklaas Journaal, Nieuwsuur en Andere Tijden, soms in samenwerking met andere omroepen. Bruins zegt "oog te hebben voor het feit dat dit voor medewerkers binnen NTR grote gevolgen kan hebben".
Substantiële achterban
De elf omroepen zijn nu AVROTROS, PowNed, MAX, WNL, VPRO, Human, BNNVARA, KRO-NCRV, EO, ON! en Zwart. Er wordt nu nog elke vijf jaar gecheckt of zij nog minimaal 100.000 leden hebben. Dat aantal moet staan voor een substantiële en specifieke achterban, is de redenering.
Ook zou het goed zijn voor de pluriformiteit in de uitzendingen, waarbij allerlei verschillende culturele stromingen en opvattingen aan bod komen. Maar het huidige omroepstelsel werkt niet meer, blijkt uit tientallen onderzoeken van de afgelopen jaren.
Om genoeg leden te vergaren, strijden de omroepen onderling om "hun zichtbaarheid", zegt Bruins. Die onderlinge concurrentie is groot en dat gaat ten koste van de pluriformiteit. Bruins wil dat er "meer geluiden uit de samenleving" in het nieuwe omroepstelsel te horen zijn. "Dit stelsel krijgt meer maatschappelijke worteling."
Het ledencriterium moet nu worden losgelaten. De minister wil de pluriformiteit in het nieuwe stelsel waarborgen door de nieuwe omroephuizen te verplichten alle geluiden in de samenleving te laten horen. Hij beaamt in zijn brief aan de Kamer dat het onvermijdelijk is dat het programma-aanbod geraakt zal worden, omdat er straks eenvoudigweg minder smaken aan omroepen zijn.
Minder bestuur en overhead
Het idee is dat er straks een efficiëntere publieke omroep komt, met minder bestuurslagen en minder overhead. Volgens de minister leidt dit tot meer grip op de programmering, waardoor ook meer mensen een vast contract kunnen krijgen.
"Een aantal maatregelen grijpt fundamenteel in op hoe de landelijke publieke omroep is georganiseerd", zegt Bruins "Dat heeft ook gevolgen voor de mensen die werken, omdat er veel zaken gaan veranderen. Dat besef ik. Maar als we willen dat de omroep ertoe blijft doen, moeten we behouden wat waardevol is en durven veranderen wat noodzakelijk is."
Voor de NOS verandert er organisatorisch niks. De NOS en NTR zijn zogeheten taakomroepen zonder leden, maar met een wettelijke opdracht. De NOS moet zorgen voor een brede, onafhankelijke nieuwsvoorziening.
Het plan van Bruins komt niet uit de lucht vallen. In 2023 verscheen een kritisch rapport over het versnipperde omroeplandschap van een adviescollege onder leiding van oud-CDA-politicus Van Geel. Daar stond al in dat er maximaal zes omroepverenigingen zouden moeten komen.
Een deel van de plannen van minister Bruins lekte deze week al uit via het AD. Vandaag heeft hij goedkeuring gekregen van de ministerraad.

Well, to this day the statement that you can perform logical computation on a qubit is entirely speculation and has yet to actually be demonstrated. Shor’s algo relies on this speculation to be true. Like I said, the psychological attack is merely convincing one that this is possible.
I’m saying that a quantum computer and its memory states function identically to a blockchain. Remove the money aspect. UTXOs have the same exact properties as a qubit. We are talking about the same thing; you are applying additional theory on top of a shared definition that we have.
The centralization in quantum computing is far from irrelevant. Observation is fundamental to quantum mechanics; a singular observer is a single point of truth and a reality defined and dictated by a singular authority. A centralized measurement god collapsing the wavefunction for everyone with no independent verification. Centralized measurement is the literal definition and predecessor of decoherence. As a bitcoiner, how can you just bat an eye at centralization only when it applies to an idea you are trying to defend. Quantum coherence and centralization do not mix at all.
Bitcoin does use specialize hardware: asics/miners and nodes to create a quantum system. It’s quantum and classical. Do you not recognize Bitcoin as both quantized time and energy? The physics are all there and I am working on finalizing the proof.
Bitcoin does not exploit qubits by dictating centralized computation upon the qubits; rather the users and owners of the individual qubits compute their own meaning and value. The nonce is the intersection of all infinite possibilities collapsing into a singular shared state of reality. Bitcoin is computing a shared, fair and equal reality; I’d argue this computation is far more important than anything your defined quantum computer can do. Show me a single UTXO subject to decoherence.
Bitcoin has been here for 16 years; maybe it’s your definition and expectation of a quantum computer that is wrong? If Bitcoin is a quantum computer, there is no second best, and it already computes the most important thing, what are we really discussing?
I didn’t even begin to probe at the idea that a singular centralized computer can remove the veil upon all uncertainty without the use and recognition of the energy. Funny how Bitcoin does tho.

I am going to flip that question on its head a bit. What is the incentive NOT to make your own blocks? If you already run a node that has its own mempool, why would you want to be beholden to someone else dictating what your miner is hashing? What do you get out of that that you would not get if you created your own block templates?
In my mind, the only reason not to create your own block templates is if you aren't running a node. And then question is, why the heck aren't you running a node?
And then, yes. OCEAN gives a discount on the pool fee for those who use DATUM to create their own templates, and you pay zero pool fee whatsoever if you are lottery mining using DATUM. So the incentive is you get paid more in either scenario. Assuming you are fortunate enough to get paid at all in the lottery mining option.

You're right. At the moment nostr is pretty chill but it could pose a problem with people abusing it in the future. I'm currently following asknostr hashtag because it's educational most of the times.
As for asking dumb questions yourself, try this experiment and see how it feels. Imo it keeps you humble and grounded which is great in bitcoin. Also, people tend to offer their input more if they know you a little, otherwise there might not be enough context for the question asked.
Anyway, your creation is really cool and there are cases when pseudoanonymity is needed or preferred. Congrats!

i'm not pleased about how much features i have plugged into realy at this point, i wish i could tease them apart and make them pluggable and modular, but i think that the http protocol is going to be a big deal and to make it viable it has to have the old protocol and the new experimental protocol available at teh same time or it isn't really useful for new protocol clients
i don't like go-nostr at all, though i'm not saying that realy's libraries are exactly perfect, the tags, in particular, are a bit clunky, but performance of the library is way above what exists, it's damn near if not the fastest library for all the things
i am in a steady process of improving the documentation of realy and its libraries, and if you go to https://realy.lol and go look at the /realy directory, that is basically the core, and /cmd/realy is the parts that start it up
if you were to contribute a new relay framework scheme to realy that would be amazing, and you can just add them by names or a subdirectory of items under /cmd and add any extra libraries you need at the root
i spent a lot of time studying how satoshi structured bitcoin's codebase and if you are familiar with that, you will see that i have followed a similar pattern, the reason for it though is shorter import names, but it is ugly on github, but fuck github, they should show the readme above the file list anyway

I am always conflicted when doing media moderation. On one side we have clear rules about what is and is not acceptable, on the other side I don’t know if the person even knows they upload to us. Problem with lack of transparency about the full chain of services, and one of the difficulties with decentralization 🤔
I get it, but that happens more often when you think. If that is someone who is close to you, they’ll come around and realize with time. If a stranger, just ignore and forget. It happens often, really often 🫂
