I agree it's difficult. Most people do live paycheck to paycheck, and debt is drowning everything around us. But the barrier to entry isn't $104k to buy a while Bitcoin, it's $1.00 that we don't have to spend today that we can send to Strike or the $100 that we won't need for a month that we can send to River. The objective is not to get 1.0 BTC, it's to get off zero, and build slowly over time. When we look back over the decade, the opportunity cost of not doing what we can is going to be very high.

Was still at work, just needed to type that out. I've looked at the agreement, and it mostly fits the framing that I've been using for a wealth based economy, getting away from the debt based economic system that is destroying us.
The way I define things: Debt based systems pull from the future to build the present. Wealth based systems build from the present to build the future.
Bitcoin aligns well with a wealth-based system due to its finite supply and decentralized nature, avoiding reliance on debt-based fiat systems. The SAFBP’s use of Bitcoin payments supports this, but the minimum payment clause and lack of operational clarity introduce debt-like risks.

Whether an investment in a company outpaces bitcoin itself is meaningless, in my opinion. It's the wrong framing.
We invest in securities, or anything honestly, to get returns in two major categories. Income or Equity. Revenue Stream or Nest Egg.
Bitcoin, if it grows in purchasing power compared to the base monetary asset (currently USD), is Global Equity. It's part of a Nest Egg, and the only way to get any value out of it is to exchange it for goods and services, or in exchange for other assets which we then turn around and exchange for goods and services.
That's not what I'm looking for in an investment, personally. If that's all I want, then I'd just buy Bitcoin and be done with it. Securities, companies, investments, they need to provide the other type of return. They need to give me a revenue stream. If they can do that, and added with all of the other investments I have I can pay my expenses for the life I want to live, then I will never have to sell any Bitcoin to pay for that life. That's the dream, that's the goal.
Bitcoin itself provides no income stream, unless we are operating a miner. It's all second hand. But expenses never go away, because we have to pay for food, lodging, travel, utilities, entertainment, all the things. I don't want to have to sell Bitcoin, I want my investments to generate a revenue stream so I don't have to.
I'm buying investment securities on the wall street side right now to build that revenue stream. I'm paying USD for those securities, and getting the revenue stream in USD. When (not if) Bitcoin becomes the Medium of Exchange and Unit of Account, I will be willing to spend Bitcoin for those securities, either on the wall street side of things or tokens on the Bitcoin/blockchain side of things. But they're going to have to show me that they can pay me a revenue stream, otherwise they're not worth the investment.
I'm not really a 'maxi', because I haven't converted my entire stack of capital to Bitcoin. But I strongly support efforts to transition to a fully wealth based system for capital, information, innovation and trust. Bitcoin is the foundation for a wealth based capital system. The others are coming.

Worthy discussion, and you make some good points. However, I will submit the reality that bitbonds still pay an interest rate. The proposed rate is much lower than current Treasury bonds at 1%, but it still leads to the expansion of the circulating currency, so while it might reduce inflation down to the stated goal of 2% or maybe even lower, that target rate still INCREASES the amount of debt, it doesn't decrease it. If the goal is to reduce the size of the US Federal Government, increasing the total debt is not going to do that. We need to combine it with other action that doesn't just reduce the rate of the increase, but actually decreases the amount of debt on the books.
The only real path forward is by balancing the budget so new bonds are not needed, in any form. We can cut spending all day long, but until the deficit is zero or the budget surplus is back, it's not going to have the impact we want to see.
I do see bitbonds as a fantastic innovation, and I would encourage their use for states, municipalities and corporations. But having the US Treasury use them would not actually solve the problem, at least not as far as i can see.

Bitcoin as Money should be used, not hoarded. Buy hashrate, sell the bitcoin that comes out of the miners, put the money from the sale into the general fund. Keep building that for 30 years, and income taxes become unnecessary. Tariffs become unnecessary. The US dollar explodes in value because it's not being devalued every year because of the budget deficit. And when all bonds are paid off after 30 years, switch the Medium of Exchange to the Satoshi and let's expand to the stars.

I think you're on the right track, but I think you're missing something. The figure of $454 trillion being cited as total global wealth is actually net asset value, which is total asset value subtracting liabilities. If we're moving away from a debt based monetary system and towards a wealth based monetary system, then I think you're using the wrong number. The Bitcoin network represents ALL capital value in the world. So I think it's very possible that the total asset value could exceed $1 Quadrillion, which would give each Bitcoin a value of $47,619,047.62.

There are authorities that are actively hunting for the source of these images, globally. As much as I hate the content, the best thing we can do if we want to let those authorities find the kids and the perps is to flag the user account and the content as such and let those hunters do their jobs. That's not ignoring the problem and hoping it goes away, it's specifically identifying the profiles and accounts to that the metadata on the images can remain intact and available. Mesh Networking became popularized during the Arab Spring, and there was a lot of development work done to create apps that could cache information for later distribution once an internet connection was found. One of the largest at the time was FireChat, which was also used during political events in the US leading up to the 2016 election.
Adding mesh networking functionality to Nostr would be a huge step forward.

You've got the right idea here. Governments should have a 1% budget surplus and ZERO long term debt. The SWF should be used to transition our entire society away from a debt based monetary system to a wealth based monetary system. And the first step to that is to invest in assets that generate a revenue stream without depending on taxes. So yes, they can buy Bitcoin and put it in cold storage, but what would be even better is if they invested Hash that generated Bitcoin and then actually USED that Bitcoin to pay for government expenses. If we can get more and more investment into hashrate, we could eventually end ALL taxes because the revenue our government institutions need could come directly from the mining hash.

The issue is a Yin/Yang with all the colors of the wind. Everything feeds on itself and each other. Our electoral system in the US was designed to be first past the post because we didn't have time to develop systems like RCV or Proportional Representation. And it takes money to run, which means you have to get money to run, the more the money the higher the probability of winning, and it's a downward spiral from there.
The best book on real democracy that I've read is the Tao of Democracy, with the idea that representatives should be chosen at random from the populace to serve a term, run for reelection to see if they have done a good job, with a max of 12 years in a chamber, House, Senate, Oval Office, Court Bench, etc. Any shorter than that and we see staff taking over, any longer and it just becomes an oligarchy.
The source of ALL our fiat debt based economic problems is budget deficits, and at least at the federal level where it counts absolutely NOBODY is talking about what it would take to balance the budget and keep it balanced.

Hyperbitcoinization will come if a government decides to be stupid. It means that they have tried to print their way out of disaster, which then becomes the disaster.
The only way to avoid it is to be a responsible government with a balanced budget, converting away from tax revenue towards mining revenue. The first government that ignores the Siren calls of a "Strategic Bitcoin Reserve" or some other nonsense and actually puts capital towards hashrate to build a revenue stream will win the fight against the money printers.

No question that anyone can send me a zap, I'm just curious of anyone is thinking about whether they should. If someone sends me a zap, I usually try to track back which post or comment they are responding to. I've gotten many zaps into my wallet that don't seem to be coming from appreciation for something I said or posted, and I have not known what to do with those. I can certainly see the value of sending a zap to 'compensate' someone for screen space and time taken, but I really question whether doing that to random profiles. Something like that should absolutely be built into a search engine type app that operates on Nostr, which might be a specific feed where we type in what we are looking for and then have the ability to sort by zapped advertising so that when we click on a link to learn more it pays us a bit before we pay them if we choose to buy the product or service from them.

I've been seeing that being built, and it really makes me nervous. I have hated advertising my entire life. And I don't mean a wavy hand disregard, I mean an active HATRED towards the interruption of whatever I was watching or reading just because someone wants to shove content in my face that I don't want to see. If I'm actively looking for a product or service, advertising in search results is logical and welcome. Show me your stuff when I'm looking for it. But get in my screen with bells and whistles when I'm not looking for it, and that company has very likely lost a potential customer because I won't support that kind of interruption bullshit.
I love Nostr because it has no algorithms, no corporations and no advertising. I hope that doesn't change, at least not in the apps that I choose to use. If an app I use frequently changes to allow ads or corporate takeovers of screen space and my time, that app can burn in the fires of Muspelheim.

What we are seeing is the beginning of the collapse of the advertising model.
When TikTok threatened to shut down, 'influencers' were guests on tv news programs talking about how they made a living on social media using contracts with brands, advertising revenue and whatever schemes and tricks they could come up with to have money come in. Lying was on the table, cheating was necessary and encouraged, stealing other people's sponsorship deals was all part of the game. But actual work? Meh, that's so 20th century. I'm in chats on X where it's all the tricks and sneaky ways to get 'impressions' so they can trigger a bigger check from the monetization formula. I find it amusing to watch, but it's like watching an episode of Idiocracy.
Proof of Work means more than just the miners. It needs to be the core mantra of our civilization if it is going to thrive. People do want to work, and they want that work to be meaningful and appreciated. So when I see a post or a comment that shows that someone has done work that I appreciate, that's when the lightning bolt comes out. Even just 21 sats is meaningful today, regardless of how much that might be worth some day in the future.
Nostr and Zaps work on the Appreciation Model. We need to kick the advertising model into the trash can. Sooo fiat.
