Looks like it used to be possible to fake zap other people back when zaps were new, which was what I thought I remembered too, but here’s where it was fixed in Damus. No doubt some of the other clients had the issue too and fixed it after this. Nostr.band probably never purged those from their stats, as I think that’s the only place now you can see that.

True. I agree on all points. Though, I would suggest using a few other models and see if you experience the same results. Some of the latest versions have gotten a lot better with fewer mistakes. In the earlier days and even still to some degree today they might ghost edit a block of code you didn’t even prompt them to. So, you must continually audit everything line. But, this issue seems to have gotten better with Claude Opus 4, Grok 3, and GPT 4.1

Really wish there was a consensus amongst #Nostr client devs in wholly supporting nip44 for DMs or not. Pretty annoying when I have it set but someone else doesn’t and they never see my DMs. Or vice versa. It needs to be the standard for everyone. Fragmentation is a killer.
Sometimes when I find myself not finishing a book but am still curious to at least know the ending, I ask AI to summarize it for me.
But today I wanted to remember something from a book I fully read many years ago, and asked AI to summarize it for me, and noticed that it was totally wrong at multiple points. Dramatically so. I pointed out that it was wrong and it’s like “my bad, here’s the right answer.”
So I asked how it could confidently make mistakes like that. Like what specifically happened in this case?
And it talked about how it extrapolates from stories and thus if something avoids the usual tropes, it could get it wrong. It said if I ask for citations it could help it prove its accuracy (which I didn’t think to do for fiction, I mean the entire objective answer is in one book, there’s not like multiple conflicting answers here).
So I was like “okay what happened to (this character) at the end? With citations.”
It gave me a wrong answer with misleading citations. So I pointed that out.
And it was basically like “oh wow, you’re right, I know that is disappointing to happen twice.” And some more boilerplate.
So I asked “I mean, I should just disregard all your prior summaries, right?”
And it more or less was like “Yeah. But we can revisit them if you want.”
By the end I felt like JK Simmons in Burn After Reading.

Totally understand! I do the same thing, but with Bread and Toast.
A friend and I were debating this today and came to the conclusion that US leaders may have made promises not to expand NATO eastward, but nothing official like a treaty was put in writing stating that. My friend's position is that therefore, there was no promise. He states that in diplomacy a formal written agreement has to be signed by both sides.
Therefore, NATO was free to expand into other countries, including #Ukraine. However, I can still see why that would be threatening to #Russia, if NATO brought nukes pointed at them right on their borders.

The only difference is that Russia had attacked Ukraine "physically" 2 times (crimea first and all the country after that).
And people living there were just living their live in peace before that.

Nobody is free as far as I'm aware. We are all tax slaves to some government. But some are more free than others. I don't see any difference between being in Ukraine or Russia when it comes to freedom. From what I understand, I think I would be more free in Russia than in Ukraine. I think this argument that Ukraine is more free is propaganda.
Yes, Russia has attacked more civilians than Ukraine has. But this is largely a consequence of the theatre of war being Ukraine, not Russia.
I am first for the civilians. My whole motiviation for talking about it at all is to save as many human lives as possible, to avoid as much death as possible. I may be wrong about how to achieve it.

Adding an npub to my kind 3 just means I'll see that npub's posts in my feed. We've not necessarily made any kind of mutual connection and may have no relationship to one another at all.
All that it means is that I am interested in seeing what that npub has to say.
If it worked by sending some kind of request to connect that had to be approved by the npub I was trying to connect with, then you might be on to something.

It's even more fascinating when you begin connecting all the dots: back in cycle 24 we saw a huge increase in aggression from the US in the Middle East for a about a six year timeframe before it began to gradually deter. So, around the middle of the cycle this had occurred. We're seeing something very similar now with this cycle, not just with actual wars, but with an increased focus on economic, political, and cultural wars, as well. When you said weak-minded people it reminded me of how things such as too much convenience, state-controlled narratives, and forced compliance essentially robs or depletes the effectiveness of certain mental capabilities within individuals. For example, characteristics like critical thinking and logical reasoning. I just didn't think astrophysical reasons played a role in the display of such behavior. That being said, it's becoming easier to observe varying levels of increased aggression in society, much of the time over trivial matters. And we are around the middle of this cycle... so🤷.

Feel like rebranding "followers" to "connections" or something like that would be a healthy thing for the internet. "Followers" implied a kind of awkward hierarchical relationship, mostly meant for advertisers and personal brands.
Nostr is definitely not a place for breaking news. Nobody in my feed mentioned the Boulder, CO molotov throwing attack, except for @nprofile…8lp0, indirectly with a photo of the suspect, and he was making a joke. Searching for "boulder" on Amethyst this morning had very few relevant results.
Nostr is still great, but in it's utility for escaping the onslaught of cynical influencing and rage bait, you lose some connection to facts on the ground.

Does that context correlate much with what you're talking about re: governments acting trifling? Closest existing things are https://flare.pub + https://zap.stream + https://kinostr.com. But they are nothing like PeerTube. Also all of them seem to be closed source.
I'd be great to have something based on p2p-media-loader + nostr + blossom. But it shouldn't lock us on a single blossom server and shouldn't force us to update links to blossom servers in every single post we've made if we migrated to other blossom server(s). Similar to NIP-65, there could be a list of webtorrent trackers and blossom servers which could be preferably used for media lookups. And the nostr note could just store something like a magnet link.
Additionally, non-browser nostr clients could also do a real p2p with DHT (without webtorrent trackers and webrtc signaling servers).
Any risk is the "greatest" when it become reality.
I don't think we have to focus on one point only and forgot any other concern.
Decentralization should be the concern on any centralization point, technical or just human ones.
Just because centralization is the weakest point on ANY network (technical or human).

Devs that create literal altcoins in the form of ecash tokens don’t have the moral high ground to say this. Some (maybe even most) of these companies might end up being shitcoin companies that will play the fiat ponzi games, but bitcoin on the balance sheet of companies is literally the early stages of hyperbitcoinisation. For Ukraine to come out of this war OK, it needs to take some kind of action or actions that cause Russia to stop attacking it and stop capturing it's land.
Maybe that action is a negotiated agreement.
Maybe that action is some kind of well designed military strikes.
But whatever actions are taken, they must not cause Russia to feel that it is under an existential threat. Attacks that disable Russia's ability to defend itself against other worldwide nuclear powers, like against its first-strike radar (as was done), or its nuclear bombers (as was done), may cause Russia to take the severe action of disabling Ukraine for good.
Attacking Ukraine with nuclear weapons probably would not cause NATO powers to strike Russia with nuclear weapons, because that would be well known as the MAD ending. Russia doesn't want to hit Ukraine with nukes. But it becomes their best strategic choice as soon as Ukraine effectively disables their ability to retaliate against a nuclear attack. Was this attack on the bombers such a thing? Probably not. But it's definitely encroaching on that territory.
If Russia nuked Ukraine in retaliation for the attack on their bombers, I'm not sure there is any way Ukraine or NATO could effectively respond. And that makes it strategically viable for Russia to do it, whereas yesterday it wasn't. And that is why I mentioned earlier that Ukraine making it's last moves was strategically "questionable".
Daring them is dumb. You will think you are winning until the day you lose catastrophically. Like double-or-nothing on the roulette table.

Watched The Wrestler (2008), directed by Darren Aronofsky. A movie about a washed up wrestler. A heart attack forces him to retire. He tries to reconnect with his daughter and build a relationship with a stripper. He desperately tries to build a life for himself outside the ring, but his identity is tied to wrestling . Mickey Rourke plays the leading role and is absolutely phenomenal. The camera is behind him most of the time, as if he’s always going to enter the ring. Very entertaining.
