Is the 18,888 sat admission fee for nostr.wine a one-time fee, or a recurring monthly subscription? I didn't see anything on their site to indicate one way or the other.
I've replaced almost all of my general relays with wot relays from the list provided by @nprofile…8grv. So far, so good! My feed is full of solid content from real people, and I haven't seen a single piece of spam or other low-grade notes. I was worried that I wouldn't qualify to use some of them, but apparently I've got enough good people in my network to grant me admission. WoT is a great way to ensure a quality feed without any of the bullshit. And most of them are NIP-42 so they can be used as private home relays.
That's true. Although it depends on how willing members of the other side are to negotiate, and work across the aisle. In a perfect world, our elected leaders would prioritize getting things done for the American people over the tribal partisanship. But as has become apparent, we definitely do not live in a perfect world.
Yep. But if you have 40% of Congress, you can get things done with a little negotiations. If you've 0% you're getting nothing done.
The American People: 4 more years of crazed division
3rd parties absolutely need to build their support and infrastructure through local and state elections before they can expect to be able to compete, and be a viable choice.
Well, typically the winning candidate has the unified support of their party. So, if a Republican president wins, and Republicans control Congress, then the president basically has the support of Congress. It gets a little trickier when the opposing party controls Congress because then you have a divided government. Some people prefer a divided government because they believe the controlling opposition provides a check on the power of the president. Others are opposed to divided government because it makes executing the president's agenda more difficult, which is either good or bad depending on whether your party is in control of Congress.
A 3rd party presidential candidate is a waste.
I think third parties should endorse presidents and get representation in the house / senate / states first.
What would a president with no backing do?
Remember when all the hoopla about politics ended days after the election? Those were the days... It's now a 24x7x365 grievance and hatred industry based on keeping the American people furious, and perpetually engaged in the manufactured division.
By and large, people are lazy and don't want anything more than a choice between A and B, despite the regular complaining about the fact that we only have two viable parties. In all this time, not one 3rd party has done the work to elect local and state candidates, and build the necessary infrastructure to plausibly compete. They always pop up every four years to run a promotional candidate with no chance of succeeding without having done any of the ground work to make their party viable.
Maybe, but his sentence was within the legally established guidelines. Any anger about his circumstances should be directed at the judge in his case, and not any greater notion of "them". He was convicted by a jury of his peers after a trial where he was represented by competent counsel, and the judge made the decision to sentence him to life based largely on the evidence presented at the trial supporting the prosecutor's contention that he attempted to contract the killing of 5 people. Then, he lost his appeals to overturn the conviction with the appeals court again pointing to the evidence that he attempted to hire a hit man to murder 5 people. On paper, his sentence may be seen as overly harsh, and I am one of the people who believe it was an excessive sentence, but he was most definitely afforded due process within the bounds of the law.
That's funny, but it's important to keep in mind that, despite the incessant ranting about voter fraud by Republicans, voter fraud—which is exceedingly rare—is almost entirely carried out by Republicans. It's another case of, "accuse yout enemies of that which you are guilty", and repeat it often so that that false notion is perceived as truth by the public.
* The first part about where your notes are published should say "public OUTBOX relays", not public INBOX relays. Sorry for the mistype.
It's a little confusing. I sat down with pen and paper and made a diagram to help me visualize and understand it.
Notes, replies, reactions and zaps to other people's notes get published on your public inbox relays.
Replies, reactions, and zaps to your published notes and replies from other users get logged to your public inbox relays.
Private messages, both incoming and outgoing, get written to your DM Inbox relays.
Your drafts, and client app settings get written to and accessed from your Private Home relays.
Your local relay (Citrine) is used like a public outbox relay. It stores copies of all your published notes, replies, reactions, as well as information about zaps you've made.
Search is handled by your search (NIP-50) relays. These relays are queried whenever you conduct a search from your client app.
General relays are the foundation of your feed. They deliver everyone else's notes to your client to be viewed and accessed on your feeds.
No that was before these types of notes
Did it generate one of those cool whale-zap notes? I always wanted to be whale zapped. 😔🐳
I use Haven for my main inbox / outbox and that seems to be running great.
Still get confused by the whole inbox outbox model and how events propagate
I that case, I don't think Citrine comes into play. Pokey is generating notifications from your configured public and private relays. If you just have Citrine configured as a local relay, I believe it only records your published notes and replies, as if it was another public outbox relay. I don't believe it also acts as a public inbox. Also, unless you've opened up a port so that it could be accessed from outside of your device, I don't believe it would be able to act as an inbox relay, because inboxes need to be able to be accessed and written to from the internet.
Not as a public inbox, just the local relay setting in Amethyst
Are you using Citrine as one of your public inbox relays?
I was thinking maybe pokey didn't register it until Citrine saw a reply posted, then notified. But that doesn't explain why other nodes didn't work then too until the reply 🤷♂️
There was a review site that did comprehensive comparisons of all the different hardware wallets, but I can't remember the URL, and I don't I bookmarked it. I'm going to dig through my browser history and see if I can find it. It wasn't that long ago, so maybe it's still in my history 🤷♂️
It's weird, isn't it? Like, what's happening behind the scenes that could explain that? Does something happen with the status of a reply once you reply to it that alerts Pokey that it's a new event that needs to generate a notification? I always get the craziest bugs! Lol and I feel bad about bothering the devs, but at the same time I know devs wants their projects to work properly, so it's important to report issues like this.
I think I noticed that too. Not sure of the cause
Hey @nprofile…vh28... I think I mentioned that the Amber authentication bug in Pokey has been successfully resolved, and its properly authenticating now with the release of v0.0.5-alpha.
Now, I hate to be the annoying guy with all the bugs, but I think I discovered another potential issue. I've noticed that generally, notifications are instantaneous. However, when someone replies to one of my comments, I don't get a notification for that event until I comment on their reply. Weird huh?
I'm not sure if anyone else is experiencing this, or have noticed this, but I figured my best course of action is to just let you know about it so that you can appropriately address it if the situation actually calls for a fix. I appreciate all you do!
I'm with you. It seems like it's become a nonstop, all-the-time thing. It used to be that nobody thought about politics until a month before an election. Some people who are die hard politics fanatics did, but the average person didn't really think about it, and it wasn't in your face every day.
We need a break. It's not healthy for there to be this constant, national focus on political battles, and divisive political propaganda.
I haven't zapped any large amounts. My default zap is 21 sats, and my max zap is 100 sats. If I had a specific, compelling reason to zap more (ie. lost a bet, making a purchase of some sort, etc), I definitely would, but for the purpose of rewarding quality content, I've found that the 21-100 sat range is just fine. The lower amounts allow me to reward more notes than if I was zapping 500+ zaps.
I have a budget, and I want to be able to reward the most people while staying within my means. Plus, my goal is to increase my holdings over time, and if I'm pretending to be a high-roller with overly generous zaps every day, I'm shooting myself in the foot for sake of promoting an image that isn't authentic.
I don't think so. I've never come across an account for them.
Yeah, I guess they don't want to burden noobs with info they supposedly don't need. But it's still important to provide for debugging etc. LN isn't so stable yet. Is WoS on nostr...?
That's crazy if that info isn't available in the app. That's pretty standard stuff. Maybe a good reason to switch to another wallet?
I can't help but speculate. It's in my nature.
I wouldn’t try to read the tea leaves - you’re gonna go blind
Given that many bitcoiners believe Trump would be good for bitcoin while Harris would not, pre-election dumping may indicate a belief that Harris will win, resulting in the price dropping. The sell-off could be an attempt lock in profits before the anticipated price drop associated with5a Harris victory.
@nprofile…deau will be thrilled that he has another task!
Super cool. Thanks for the great answer (and best in class service)
In Amethyst, do you know what relay catagories these wot relays should be used for? Are they supposed to be your public inbox/outbox relays? Or do they go in the general relay section?
I'm no longer getting the "Amber not installed" error, and looking at my Pokey entry in Amber, a full suite of permissions is now associated. It's looking real good!
In addition to the normal free relays we broadcast notes to we also follow NIP-65 which states:
“When broadcasting an event, Clients SHOULD:
Broadcast the event to the WRITE relays of the author
Broadcast the event to all READ relays of each tagged user”
However, we have to have some limits to avoid spamming notes out like crazy. As such, we only do this additional broadcasting to the first 5 tagged users of each note and only to a max of 4 “read” relays per npub.
Keep the questions coming! Happy to answer 🍷
I just sent a new pull request. It wasnt calling amber with content resolver and it wasnt replying the auth event to the relay
I'm not getting the error with the latest build. Passing the pubkey seems to have fixed the issue but I'll still make a PR on the empty string pubkey since Amber should (imho) probably treat it the same as a null value
I all, I just released a new version, can somebody test it out?
If it's still happening I believe the only option is to apply that change on Amber
Np! I’m honored by the association lol
Lol, this pretty much sums up why this relay is such a great use of sats 💪
One question - what does this mean?
**
“Filter also broadcast notes to 3 of the recipients (tagged users) NIP-65 relays”
**
I’m reading it as: the relay picks three of the npubs tagged in a note (if there are tagged users), and then sends the note to their preferred relays (?)
Specifically their read/write relays?
The first three tagged users?
How many of their relays?
(Sorry to pepper you with questions lol, just curious because this sounds like another tremendous value-add)
I believe it’s Vitor’s guide. #naddr1qq…cq4q
I have filter in my outbox list and not in my inbox list, per a guide I saw somewhere and can't seem to find again...
Thanks Boston!
I am certainly not an expert when it comes to Amethyst relay settings but you are right about how filter works.
Filter reads from (and deduplicates) and broadcasts to a list of public relays so that you don’t need to make all those individual connections.
Filter also broadcast notes to 3 of the recipients (tagged users) NIP-65 relays.
Though filter will not accept notes directly from non-subscribers (and thus shouldn’t be placed in an inbox/outbox list, it will pick up notes that come through any of the public relays automatically.
Without knowing for sure, the way you’ve set it up sounds correct to me!
In case you need more info about filter there is a fairly long readme here: https://filter.nostr.wine
Also @npub18kz…x5sz or @npub1qlk…lf5y may be able to shed more light on the nostr.wine question (I don’t run that relay, we just both love wine! Lol)
See @nprofile…5wdd above 😃
I have watched gov after gov for decades, lie, lie and lie again. But 4 years later everyone forgets..
I expect Gov to lie. I expect them to change the formula that is used to calculate inflation to be changed to suit.
I think Sizzler went bankrupt. "We going to Sizzler, daddy!" is a line from the movie, "White Men Can't Jump.
Sizzler is gourmet these days?
I'm going to Sizzler, daddy!
I know what you mean. My mom's at that age where I start panicking everytime I call her and she doesn't answer, or everytime she calls at an odd time. It's so stressful.
Fantastic. There's not much value in ecash if you can't redeem tokens minted from outside mints. Coinos.io looks great, and has the potential to be a really valuable platform for both Nostr, and lightning payments in general. I can't wait til I can move over completely.👍
Oh nice, thanks! I don't see the DM yet but will sort that out later. Supporting Ecash from other mints is one of our next priorities.
I just DM'd you to let you know that I've resolved the problem. It was an issue on my end. My DNS blocker was interfering with the zaps. The solution was to exempt Amethyst from my DNS blocker. It's now working perfectly.
Now, we just need the ability to redeem ecash from mints other than the coinos.io mint, and I'll be able completely move to coinos.io.
Can you share who you're trying to zap to so we can see what the receiving lightning node is and make sure we can reach them?
I think you may want to keep those others as read-only general relays so that you're properly connecting with users who are using those relays. The nostr.wine relay with deliver that consolidated content, but it won't necessarily provide a connection with your followers who are using other relays. I could be wrong about this, but that's how I believe it works. It may be worth reaching out to the operator of nostr.wine to get a authoritaritative answer on this.
So it looks like the problem was on my end after all. Turns out my system DNS blocker was interfering with the zaps. I exempted Amethyst from the DNS blocker and it's now working fine.
I'm not saying your followers to follows ratio should be 1:1, and that you should automatically follow everyone who follows you.
You should look at their profile and read through some of their notes and replies to get an idea of what their account is all about, but I think the goal should be to add quality accounts that mesh with you, and to also make sure you're following users with different viewpoints and ideas.
You don't want to create a monoculture echo-chamber. Look for value and diversity, and follow it. It really will improve your experience on Nostr.
That's OK. I'm an equal opportunity nostrich. Although I'm not sure why anyone here would hate me. I may have conflicting opinions with some, I always try to treat people with respect and dignity. Besides, life would be pretty boring if we all believed the same things, and had the same perspective.
tbf
some of those are hate follows 🤣
That's an excellent analogy. 👍
Hey @nprofile…tdq0! My zap.store app isn't detecting that apps have been uninstalled, and is showing these old apps as needing updates. Basically, it thinks these apps are still installed on my device. And I don't see any way of correcting this o my end. Not a big deal, but perhaps something you'll want to address in a future relase.
Tip for new users:
I doubled my followers, from 65 to 131, in just one week. Engagement is the secret. The more you engage and interact with others, adding quality content to discussions with various other users, the more value your account will have, and the more people will want to follow you. And follow them back! The more good users you add to your network, the better your feed will be and the more value you will get out of nostr. You get what you give.
It sucks that institutional discrimination against those without a permanent address still exists in banking. Like life isn't already hard enough. It's great that you're pushing through and making it work despite the obstacles.
Cash ap w bitkey is my goto. I'm homeless and don't have a place to secure a seed phrase. Additionally wo a permanent address local banks ans credit unions wont accept me.
I've got an awful pair of loafers that should have been retired at the turn of the century. They're totally falling apart and have holes worn into them so that my foot is exposed at various locations. I only wear them when I take the dog out because they're so damn comfortable and perfectly molded to my feet from years of wear, but I wouldn't be caught dead wearing them in public. People would think I'm homeless. I'm riding these bitches til the wheels fall off, which could be any day now.
Yep. The New York struggle is still real for us. I just kick those sats to boltz.
Being outside of NY, I'm still able to do lightning transactions. It sucks that NY has restricted lightning. Very shortsighted and oppressive if you ask me.
Free on-chain withdrawal is great. I can’t use their Lightning feature but I can buy sats and deposit to my node to open a channel.
They’re a regulated finance company so this of probably something their compliance department requires. They also disabled Lightning features for NY users based KYC location.
I bet it's reading the bootloader status flag, or the factory/non-factory ROM flag and preventing operation is one or both of them are tripped. I sorta understand their desire to prevent their system from being accessed by a non-standard device. I know they're not the only one who takes similar precautions. Some other banking and financial apps also restrict use to official, standard devices.
I'm not sure if it's on the cashapp side or Graphene. Fold and strike work just fine. Cashapp and NFC is the only thing I have found that won't work
I wonder if the devs have restricted its use on devices with an unlocked bootloader, or a non-factory ROM?
It will download just fine but you are unable to log into your account. Just get into a doom loop of never being able to log in. Very frustrating Bec it is a good service
Oh I see. Any way to side-load it? Or will the app just not work on a non-standard ROM?
A smartphone. I want to just use it on the go from my phone but the cashapp app doesn't work on Graphene OS
Cash App is super underrated. I’ve gotten a bunch of people into using Bitcoin simply because I was able to show them how easy it was with their Cash App. I just tell them how to get their address or Lightning invoice and then send them some. The rest of the process is self evident
Same!
Not going back to Coinbase and swan is a non-starter after being grandfathered in.
I also like that sending sats to self-custody can only take a few hours using the “free 24-hour” option.
But bitcoin isn't illegal, nor does it have a history of being used to criminalize a huge number of people, disproportionately minorities. I don't think this is an either/or situation. I think we can do the right thing with both weed and bitcoin, even as what that actually means is different for both.
Yeah, that's different from me because I only have 3 inbox relays defined; nostr.land, relays.diggoo.com, and my personal inbox/outbox relay from relay.tools. And I just added relay.coinos.io to see if that made a difference.
Be that as it may, it’s pretty much all I use.
Attention coinos.io who use Amethyst... Have you been able to successfully zap via NWC in Amethyst? Or does the zap fail?
This other user seemed to have fixed it. But his issue was different. The zap wasn't arriving because of the amount of inbox relays and limits of coinos relay lists.
#nevent1q…f6fv
This is why I'm curious if this is me problem, or if it's a wider systemic issue.
Yes that's correct. The wheel gets to about 95% complete (about the 11 o'clock position) and it just hangs. Not indication of any communication with Coinos.io, no corresponding zap entries in my inbox relays. I don't think it's a budget issue with coinos.io because I can immediately paste the same NWC connect string into Primal and it zaps just fine.
Wait, does it get to 95% and you don't see any lightning payment on coinos at all? Then, there might be something wrong with the request itself. Or maybe a budget limitation that was setup on coinos?
Cash App gets a bad rap among the more hardcore bitcoiners, probably due to KYC requirements, but I think it's a really convenient and reasonable service. I was able to buy bitcoin in under a minute using the app. I didn't even need to wait for confirmations. And the coin was on its way to my self-custodial wallet literally a minute after I bought. Also, their rate was good, and didn't include some jacked up premium.
How else would you know your balance or move money? Unless I'm mistaken, you have to either use a computer, a smartphone, or call into the bank.
It's not really useful if you have to go into the wallet and approve the transaction everytime someone zaps you. How would you even know to go into the wallet?
None of them require auth (42). I just checked my personal relay.tools relay which is one of my configured inbox relays, and it's got no entries for kind 9734 or 9735.
Additionally, I tried adding relay.coinos.io to my public inbox config, and I'm getting the same result: the purple wheel gets to about 95% complete and it just hangs. Checking my coinos.io wallet, there's no corresponding zap transaction. And checking my personal relay records show no corresponding 9734 or 9735 entries.
Do you know if any other coinos.io users have successfully zapped via NWC in Amethyst? I think it would be helpful to know whether this is a systemic issue, or some weird thing specific to me.
Also, check if your inbox relays aren't requiring auth, regardless if they accept posts or not. Some NWC services never even auth.
Ok thanks. I'll get to work! I appreciate your help, as always.
9735. 9734 is the zap request. 9735 is the final receipt that should mark it as zapped.
I should look for kind 9734, right?
I need to put Supertestnet's brick wallet & bankify on my node so its always on
I have same issues with cashu. me; it works great, but need to keep swapping back n' forth is a hassle
So it could be a problem with my inbox relays? Should I add the coinos.io relay to my inbox config? I'm just confused why it works quickly and without problem o Primal, but the same NWC connect string in Amethyst keeps failing.
I had the same issue with Cashu.me so I switched to the Minibits Wallet and it's been smooth sailing.
Usually when the zap circle hangs in the last 5% of so, it means that Amethyst is still waiting for the NWC wallet to reply with the successful package OR the zap event to show up. Amethyst requests the zap event to be sent to ALL of your inbox relays. So, you can watch if the event gets there as well.
And FYI, my comment wasn't directed at you. Just the general state of affairs.
They put their foot down on transaction fees!
It would be great if relay operators started keeping their NIP-11 info up-to-date so we had reliable way of determining which relays support which functionality.
I can totally relate. I'm pretty handy behind the scenes, but my design and UX abilities are virtually nonexistent. I think it's two distinctly different skillsets, and modes of thought, and it's rare to find someone adept at both. That's why it's always a good idea to pair up with a design guy (or gal) so that each of you can focus on what you do best. And like chocolate and peanut butter, the two sides come together to make a magical end product.
I don't worry about the tiny amount of sats, I treat them like extra daily #zaps
I worry more about investing in the hashrate to improve the #Bitcoin network security
Does the meshtastic network provide high bandwidth? Or is low-bandwith used mostly for text transmissions?
So I tested it in Primal, and it works fine. But it's not working in Amethyst. That means either there's an issue on Amethyst's side, or some FUBAR problem specific to my Amethyst configuration. @nprofile…deau and @nprofile…0pev, any idea why Coinos.io NWC is working in Primal, but failing in Amethyst?
I'll test it out, I think that updating ExternalSignerLauncher with the pubkey once I got it might solve the thing
Things tend to take a turn after 35.
Wow that's great! And that really adds up over time. At an average of 75 sats per day, that returns over 27,000 sats per year at the current difficulty. It'll take little time zero out your ROI, but it's a longterm investment.👍
I have a #Bitaxe Supra 401 right now, and I have it connected to Braiins Pool. It averages 600-700 gigahashes (about half of what the Gamma has).
That miner averages about 40 sats a day, so I'm assuming with 1.2 Terahashes the Gamma should average around 75 sats a day.
Are you referring to birth and death registration (certificates)?
Do you know about how many sats per month this device generates?
I disable tor for money operations, so that's not an issue for me, but I agree that zapping in Amethyst feels slower than in Primal, or Nostrudel. But that may be an illusion because Amethyst displays that little purple progress wheel that goes around, and then hangs for a bit before zap is completed while Primal and Nostrudel immediately register the zap visually while the zap completes in the background.
One that in developing, didn't tested in amethyst, but sometimes nwc feels slow in amet, maybe is due tor 🤔
Oh I see. Could it be that one or more of the relays is paid? Because I have two paid relays defined as my outbox relays, and one paid relay defined as my DM Inbox relay.
By "dud relay" I meant a relay specified in the key's relay list which isn't accepting notes, either because the key isn't authorized or there's something wrong with the relay and it's rejecting all messages. Looking at it more deeply, it's possible it's just any relay that requires authorization, so if you have one or more of them on your relay list than that might be what's causing the Amber not found message.
Damn. That would suggest that the problem is on my end. May I ask which client you're using?
I used it couple days ago and worked
The exciting thing isn't purchasing a ticket for ecash, but for basically creating a new Cashu-based token type to be used as the ticket. So, your ticket is a Cashu token.
Has anyone got their @nprofile…0pev wallet to successfully work with NWC? It Just doesn't work for me. I'll try to zap in Amethyst, and that little purple wheel of death spins to the 11 o'clock position and just freezes. No error message generated, and no indication of transaction in the wallet. I'm really curious if it's a general problem, or something that's specific to me.
Let me know if you'd like me confirm that this fix resolves the original problem of auth failing and that "Amber not installed" toast being generated before you publish an updated Amber release.
@nprofile…fpck is tagged in this thread, so let's see what he has to say about it. Awesome debugging work! Nothing gives me the tingles like collaboration! When you say "dud relay" does that mean that the issue ultimately stems from a bad relay defined in Amber?
The issue is in the get public key method pr when hes trying to auth to a relay?
Can you send a pull request to fix the null check?
You're welcome, I've been working on NIP-55 integration for a while so I'm always interested in these edge cases. I think the issue lies in the bogus hex key that Amber generates from the empty npub string. It needs more testing with various pubkeys combinations, but changing the null check in Amber fixes the problem for me. I'm happy to raise an issue, the bug is easily reproducible with the right test keys, the only question is which repo - Pokey, Amber or both?
That's really interesting, thanks is for you work!! But what I am supposed to send if I'm actually using that request to get the npub?
Digging deeper, it seems to be related to the npub being sent by Pokey to Amber in the "current_user" Intent field for Relay auth. Pokey is sending an empty string which Amber is converting to a hex string and signing the Auth event with, which in turn is being rejected by the Relay, which causes the error. At least *I think so* - because debugging IPC is complicated! When I change the null check in Amber to be isNullOrEmpty() then the error goes away.

It will be most certainly added by end of this week. Keep the feedbacks coming and we will make sure that YakiHonne will meet your expectations 🙏
On-chain + cleaning up the few minor bugs = perfect wallet
Use Primal if you want Facebook-simplicity and a dumbed down experience.
Or even double tapping the home icon would be nice to have it reload feed
Pull2Refresh is the one feature that's sorely missing. I keep instinctively swiping down to refresh, but no joy! Lol Hopefully it will be added in a future relase.
A simple metronome would work, too.
True story: Minibits is incredibly easy to setup an use.
Devs like YakiHonne are making long-form articles easier to create and promote which will encourage creators to make nostr their home. Nostr is a work in progress, and the more we can do to encourage and lift people up, the better it will be for us all. I'm not really sure what the point is of pointing out correlations between some external factor and levels of engagement, but it doesn't move the ball forward. Positivity and encouragement are the way to growth.
Absolutely. That's just a matter of engineering. Bringing this concept from theory to practical reality is a truly amazing feat. Why the hell haven't I heard of this before now?? This should be on the front page of every newspaper!
The 480v input is the main obstacle to mass production,...but with an advanced electrical grid...anything is possible.
"Imagine Trump wins and appoints Elon to accountability office and Elon brings in Ron Paul and they actually cut the budget."
I had not heard about this machine, or it's creator. So, I stand corrected on the water issue. I appreciate you showing me this.
I stand corrected. Not exactly what I was thinking, but it definitely fits with what I was talking about. Thanks for sharing this. If it actually works as advertised, it's an amazing advancement with the potential to save lives.
I thought I was taking crazy pills. I was scouring the site for like a half hour trying to figure out how to redeem the damn token. Lol Instead of a button that says "Redeem token", they have a button that's "Swap", which isn't helpful if you're trying to redeem. But it's in that swap function that the message about not accepting outside mints appears. So, maybe an update to some of links and button labels would be good, in addition to actually allowing outside mints to be redeemed.
Yeah the goal is great. The way of achieving the goal that's been described here is not great.
Cutting budget would be fantastic
Yeah, it doesn’t work yet. Hopefully this will be implemented soon.
Really? https://video.nostr.build/e2a765b65af3d18a1ea2294b141d86437ec19e3889139e47c7282df027ca80d5.mp4

You never heard of Moses West's machine yet? The one that produces water out of the atmoshpere using 480v electricity? 🤔

Do you have any evidence that the numbers are wrong? Or do you suspect they're wrong and are conflating your suspicion with fact?
I wore the dam mask, when I would get harrased without it. Got 1 jab, sadly.
Again, you agreed inflation is "expected". Not sure why you believe gov figures though.
I don't know what you're talking about. We can't magically create food and water out of nothing.
I dont wanna be on a food line either bro...and i doubt any of us will be in one...after all we now live in an abundant/artificially scarce world of, 3d printed foods...world hunger has been practically fixed amirite?
Scarcity plays a major role in traditional economics, but we have the technology now to produce food where there was no food before and water where there was no water before.
Traditional economics cant even compensate for AI and the effects on GDP yet.
I'm actually interested in discussions with people of various beliefs, and not engaging in ad hominens, and personal attacks and insults. So I think we're at an impasse.
Well, you could learn on your own. The library is filled with good books on the subject. Or you could take economics courses in college. If you're actually interested, you could easily obtain a relevant syllabus from pretty much any university, and use that as a guide for your own self-directed learning.
Eh, well.. Sounds your very pro our current financial system. which is just weird.. and interested to hear what other gov. narrartivs you've gone along with..
let me ask you this then.
where do you go to learn about these supposed "sound economic principles"?
maybe at some point they were "two separate things"
but they are de facto one now.
I agree with you about the problem, but not your take on the solution.
I'm not arguing that everything is great and nothing needs to be fixed. But economic principles and the application of economic principles are two very different things. One is empirical, based on math, and the other is tainted by politicians and their perpetual priority of advancing their own self-interests. I'm speaking about the empirical stuff. The math. You're talking about the political side which I'm in complete agreement with you on.
Id love to agree w/ you...but look at how the MMT people are running the show....according to them 35T debt doesnt matter
The only way to validate traditional economics is with a hard crash that takes the entire economy down...stocks, RE, bonds, everything.
Otherwise business cycle reloops and S&P hits $10,000
Ok, so apparently the ability to redeem ecash tokens from "outside" mints is "coming soon". I think that means that only ecash minted by Coinos.io's mint can be redeemed. Which is dumb because why would I be redeeming ecash minted by coinos.io into my coinos.io account? Unless I've received that ecash from another coinos.io user, I'm basically SOL. Hopefully they get that squared away sooner than later.
which is why things are going so well of course.
its just math.
based on all the freely available empirical data 🙄
(that data doesnt exist either, any more than there are "sound principles")
the incentive structure is broken.
as a result the "sound economic principles" are manufactured to match presupposed necessities.
and then data is tainted with confirmation bias to support them.
its not just economics. its every highly politically charged arena where power and money is involved.
I can't redeem ecash tokens either. It correctly reads the token and displays its value, but there doesn't seem to be any way to actually redeem the token so that its value is reflected in my balance. Has anyone had any luck redeeming ecash tokens?
And there it is. The pivot to ad hominens.
Another edgy non-response. LMFAO 🤣
Utter nonsense. Sound economic principles are a matter of objective fact based on empirical evidence and data. It's literally math. Looney Tunes ideas about economics by people who have never studied economics and have no educational or experiential foundation for their beliefs are not a basis for determining how our problems should be addressed.
When you manage to do anything other than rehash horseshit like a deranged NPC, you'll see the responses improving.
I said nothing about runaway inflation. Just that it can't be stopped. You agreed..
So you believe Gov. figures.. lol... All masked up were you, how many jabs did you get?
I like how you have nothing substantive to say, just some edgy sarcasm.
The inflation rate just fell for the 6th consecutive month. The perception of the situation doesn't exactly match the reality. The fact is we live in an inflationary economy, and inflation is normal, expectated aspect. There's still work to be done, especially in sectors like food, and transportation, but it's simply not true that we're in some runaway inflation. And the notion that we can end inflation is absurdity that's being sold by politicians as a way of getting elected. Such a thing has no basis in fact.
You forgot to leave the caps lock on.
There is no stopping the inflation shit show. Two options, burn it down slow, or burn it down fast..
tbh
if "reputable economists" were clamoring for anything
I'd be opposed on principle.
the economics profession is in shambles
Você que é o foda .
Quem é você ?
Elon Musk one of the most incompetent people currently walking the earth. The only Elon Musk company that Elon Musk actually manages is fucking Twitter. And look at what he's done to that shit heap. All his other companies that are normal and turning a profit are run by other people. Putting him in charge of running government departments that impact the lives of the American people would be unprecedented catastrophe. And Ron Paul is a fucking lunatic whose economic theories are literally insane, and go against every tested economic principle. You don't see reputable economists clamoring for Ron Fucking Paul to fix the economy, and you sure as shit don't see any reputable people calling for Musk to be in charge of things that will have a real impact on the lives of Americans. Wanting to fix things and putting these two idiots in charge are not the same thing. You can want things to get better AND find sane, sober, competent people to carry it out.
You will need even more help if it doesn't. It has to happen at some point.
What's the point of editing a note if nobody ever sees the edited version? I sometimes make mistakes—spelling, punctuation, missing word, etc—and when I edit the note, the edit is never visible to anyone else, or even me in another client. So what's the point?
There's nothing fun about any of this. And God help us all if the scenario you laid out actually comes to pass.
Some of it has been verified, but due to the nature of his military and government employment, some of it is locked up tight in the cloak of national security. It's been verified that he was a counterintelligence officer in the military. He did "work" in Afghanistan and Iraq, and he did interrogations at Gitmo.
It's also been verified that he ran the AATIP program (Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program) for the DoD. That was the program that was responsible for the three video clips that were all over the NY Times back in 2017. Beyond that, nothing about him is independently verified.
I’m curious if anyone has actually verified his work history and credentials 🤨
Here's the best version I could find.
https://image.nostr.build/338b3ee5ad8cd1a98dc1090ff779d95a7c1798b6f7688650c2008f9668aba86a.jpg
Oh damn, you haven't seen it? Or heard about it? OK, well he was speaking at some event and he displayed a bunch of photos that were supposedly legit and confirmed by the government, but one of them was a fake. And it didn't even look real. But he claimed it was taken in Romania in 2022, and was given to him by someone credible inside the government.
The fucking NY Post debunked it, exposing it as a fake, and Elizondo has been on a apology tour ever since, claiming didn't realize it was phony. The whole thing stinks. Here's a video clip of his presentation. You can see the in the video. I'll see if there's a better version available and post it here.
https://x.com/MiddleOfMayhem/status/1851273969422520382
I keep thinking that the whole fake photograph and apology situation was entirely manufactured to discredit both himself, and the greater UFO subject. It seems implausible that a man of his background could mistakenly present a bullshit photo as legit. Especially one as bad as the pic in question.
I feel like Elizondo's whole presence in the UFO community has been one large debunking and discrediting operation. And who better to carry it out than a career, smoke & mirrors, counterintelligence officer with the implied credibility of government.
Oh damn. I didn't realize it wasn't available on iOS. I feel like a jerk now. Lol
well whenever it comes to IOS I’ll gib it a try 🫡
Browser extensions are good, too. I use Nos2x, but I try to use Amber as much as possible to keep it centralized.
Once again, the people screaming about voter fraud are the ones committing voter fraud. To be clear, voter fraud is very rare, and has never affected the outcome of an election, but when it does happen, it's almost always perpetrated by a Republican. That's just a fact. Insane claims of election fraud are just the intentional groundwork for an anticipated claim of a stolen election. They did it in 2020, and they're doing it again now.
https://www.ibtimes.com/maga-property-manager-boasted-online-that-he-voted-trump-six-times-3749225
I’m joking
i use Nostore & Alby most of the time
there’s a 5% chance of not using it when the client is new tho bc some devs r lazy n leave extensions for last min
Remember, he's a career counterintelligence officer. That fact should be applied to everything he says.
It seems to me that Amethyst needs a dual configuration option to accommodate the algorithm relay, and future relays of the same type. Maybe a toggle that presents either the algorithm configuration, or the standard configuration that we have now. This way you can keep the existing outbox model while also offering the option of utilizing the algorithm relays.
I think different applications call for different solutions, and there's room for both schools of thought. Not everything should be ephemeral, and not everything should be saved forever. Nuance, gentlemen.
Why not? It's a single safe locker for your key that authenticates requests instead of putting your nsec into every website with a form field. I'm not currently aware of a better solution, but I'm always open.
I just ordered one of these Cryptosteel Capsules to safely store my 12 words on metal. You set it up once, and it's there forever.
https://cryptosteel.com/product/cryptosteel-capsule-solo/
I think calling on relay operators to keep their information up-to-date is the only thing we can do. Maybe a "Have you updated your NIP-11?" signature on all your notes would help 🤷♂️
lmao but then it wouldn't be updated
how do we fix this?
Yeah, the NIP-11 query should just return the server operator's home phone number. 🤣
maybe rewrite NIP 11 to say users must contact relay owners by a phone call
Relay operators should start maintaining their NIP-11 data properly. This is important information that should be kept up-to-date, and accurate. It doesn't do anyone any good if it doesn't accurately reflect the capabilities of the server.
Wow. I've never been the vanguard of a movement! I better get my good boots out of the closet.
Not that I know of. Users don't seem to care if their relays are writing accurate NIP-11s or not.
You can start the movement.
Ok, but is there some push to reestablish the accuracy of NIP-11 reporting in relay servers? For the time being, it's not a problem to contact relay operators to ask them what their server supports, but that's not sustainable longterm.
It's not better. It's your only option today.
That's a pretty inefficient system. We're abandoning NIP-11, which automatically reports server compatibility, in favor of manually contacting all your relay operators to ask them which NIPs their server supports? Why is that better?
Nip-11 is irrelevant. You shouldn't do anything based on it at this point. Just talk to your relay operator. They will tell you if they support or not.
So what's the point? How are we supposed to know which NIPs a server supports if nobody bothers to maintain their NIP-11?
No. It should be manually adjusted by each operator. And no one changes that.
If it supports NIP-17 but it's not showing up in the NIP-11 info document, I'd say that's a problem that needs to be resolved. When important components are left out of date and inaccurate, it forms the basis of the network's demise. If a server supports a particular NIP, it should be accurately reflected in the NIP-11 document.
Isn't the NIP-11 document automatically generated based on the specific configuration of the relay server?
That's just old info from their relays... No relay operator ever changes that information.
If you click on the relays in the Amethyst relay list, it shows which NIPs the relay supports. Neither show NIP-17 as one of the NIPs they support. The NIP-11 info document for those relays also do not indicate support for NIP-17.
I don't understand what you are saying. I have used them daily for over 9 months now. They fully support it.
I agree they should support NIP-17, but last I checked, they do not.
I dunno about that. US users aren't allowed to use Wise so I haven't been able to play with it.
WoS can also do on-chain I believe
Both auth.nostr1.com and inbox.nostr.wine were made for nip-17. :)
But most relays accept it.
Speaking of NIP-17... Do you have a list of NIP-17 relays? So far, the only one I've found is relay.0xchat.com. Neither auth.nostr1.com nor inbox.nostr.wine support NIP-17 so I'd like some other options.
If you want on-chain, lightning, and lightning address, Speed Wallet is the only choice. Just be cautious about putting large sums of coin into Speed Wallet because the custodial nature. I'm also keeping my eye on Coinos.io. They've got some issues to work out, but it's got the potential to be a excellent wallet option.
Yeah, the lack of LN address is a deal-breaker for use with nostr. I'm just trying out Minibits, it's very nice. But as you said, no on-chain yet. I'm sure it's coming soon though, as integrating boltz swaps is quite straightforward I believe.
This is a great idea. It would be awesome if you put that behind a web app so that anyone with a web browser could build their optimized relay list.
It doesn't provide a lightning address (user@appname.com), unfortunately. That's the one feature it's missing. It just works with standard lightning invoices. But its combined ability to transact on both lightning and chain networks, and its seamless, transparent lightning node functionality makes it a great foundation wallet to base your funds out of. Combined with Minibits, or Speed Wallet if you don't care about NWC, it's a great option.
Of course, Speed Wallet also transacts on both lightning and on-chain, and it provides a lightning address, so that may be a more attractive option for Nostr users.
The only thing that bothers me about Speed Wallet is that it's 100% custodial, so you're relying entirely on the Speed Wallet company to responsibly hold your funds. With Breez it's self-custodial so you get a 12-word seed phrase that you can use to restore your wallet if necessary. No such thing with Speed. If something goes wrong, you have to email support and hope they do the right thing.
Does Breeze provide an LN address?
Minibits doesn't allow on-chain transactions, but Breez Wallet does! Breez is a self-custodial wallet that manages lightning channels transparently in the background with no user intervention required. It operates like custodial wallet, but is actually self-custodial behind the scenes. And it had integrated on-chain transactions. When you click send or receive, it offers you the choice between lightning and on-chain. And you don't need to open your own channels. It handles all of that automatically. It just takes a 2500 sat fee on your first transaction, and after that you're just subject to standard network fees.
Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help diagnose the problem.
Yeah, Timestamp problem is already identified. I'll try to do some combinations to see if I'm able to reproduce the Amber thing
I don't have the timestamp problem with v0.0.3-alpha. And since v0.0.3-alpha doesn't authenticate with Amber (other than to pull the npub), there's no process that triggers the "Amber not installed" toast.
Did you try with v0.0.3-alpha??
In the meantime, I've reverted to Pokey v0.0.3-alpha. All notifications are working properly except DM Inbox notifications. I'll wait til this issue is resolved to upgrade.
No, my timestamps are fine although I saw some other people had the timestamp issue. I think it's two distinct and unconnected issues. But as much as I'm sad that you're having trouble with Pokey, I'm a little glad I'm not the only one who's having this problem with the Amber authentication failing. @nprofile…vh28 here's another user who's having that problem with Pokey v0.0.4-alpha not authenticating with Amber, and the "Amber not installed" toast.
I am also seeing this Amber not installed error. Are your notification timestamps wrong?
#nevent1q…atrx
I really don't think the problem is with Amber because Amber works just fine with literally every other app. The only other issue I had with Amber was with using bunker with Ditto. And you helped me resolve that. I strongly suspect the problem lies with Pokey, or with the communication between Amber and Pokey.
No joy. Using the offline version produces the same problem. I get that "Amber not Installed" toast.
Just doing some quick debugging and I think it's related to relay authorization/subscribing, when I add a key that has some dud relays on its relay list I get the following errors in Logcat (the same number as dud relays):
```
ActivityThread com.koalasat.pokey.debug E Failed to find provider info for .SIGN_EVENT
ActivityThread com.koalasat.pokey.debug E Failed to find provider info for .SIGN_EVENT
ActivityThread com.koalasat.pokey.debug E Failed to find provider info for .SIGN_EVENT
```
When I add a key with good relays, I don't get this error
I'll dig a little more and see if there's an issue/PR to file
Do you think it's worth trying a different variation of Amber, such as the offline version?
It's so weird. Not sure how the problem could be present on both of my devices, but not able to reproduce on another device. The only things my two devices have in common are they're both Samsungs, and they're on the same network 🤔
Im trying to reproduce here but no luck yet
And if you leave that website open, it will continuously monitor the network for new relays, and update the response times of each. It's a really good tool for picking the best relays. You can also click on each relay in the list and it will pull up a detail page where it shows you the various capabilities for each relay.
So you know @npub18dl…h8x3 ? He is very very smart too.
milliseconds... It's measuring how long it takes to contact and connect with each relay.
Amazing link! All those relays…what does ms mean?
It's very interesting how the different types of pollen produce such different flavors.
I've heard nothing but good things about Damus. But since it's iOS only, I haven't been able to try it myself. There's a website that lists all the relays, but you have to do some investigation to figure out the right relay for the right purpose. But if Damus doesn't give you the option of defining specific types of relays, your best option is to use the configured defaults. There's no need to get in the weeds with different types of relays if your client doesn't give the ability to define different types.
Here's that relay tracking website if you want to check it out >> https://legacy.nostr.watch/relays/find
It is less intensely sweet. Perhaps more earthy, where you notice the beeswax, and various floral tones. Clover is more like Karo syrup to my taste. Gallberry has a fennel finish that old-time beekeepers call a sting at the end. It is milder but sweeter, than Wildflower.
Thank you! So, where does one find what kind are their relays? I just thought #Damus was so awesome that it picked the most suitable relay for the note traffic at the time. Me very low IQ
Are you sure he wasn't referring to the cowbell? Cuz you're gonna want to have that cowbell.
Oh... I'm not sure about Damus because I'm on Android, and Primal doesn't provide the ability to differentiate between the different types of relays. I don't know if Amethyst is available on iOS, but it let's you define the following types of relays: public outbox, public inbox, DM inbox, private home, search, local, and general.
I'm addicted to clover honey. You're right, it is very sweet. I use it when I make smoothies. I always add 2tbsp to the milk, yogurt, and frozen fruit. It adds sweetness, and that distinct clover flavor. Is the wildflower honey also sweet?
It is a sweet business ♡ We have Wildflower, Gallberry , Tupelo, and Sourwood.
No, we do not have clover, a clear super-sweet honey. There is globe and red clover in our early summer wildflower, but not probably the taste you seek. Thanks for asking! Go to www.kittrellsdaydream.com to read more about Gallberry and Wildflower.
Also, I checked in Amber, and my Pokey entry has a full set of approved permissions, so I'm thinking the problem is either with Pokey, or maybe some FUBAR communication problem between Amber and Pokey. Because I wouldn't be seeing all these permissions in Amber if it didn't authenticate properly.
https://image.nostr.build/fe54f65e89bb854a6030cad989218743b53d46bb8a4e566250a81be0ab98aaa7.jpg
Vegans are the most insufferable people on the planet.
cutting carrots into pieces doesn't make you a better person because
https://www.bbcearth.com/news/plants-have-feelings-too
https://caroljadams.com/spom-the-book
And this is happening on two separate devices.
I tried reinstalling Amber, and reinstalling Pokey. I've tried force-closing and restarting both apps. No matter what I do I get that fail toast.
Its supposed to only reach this code of he rejects the permission or the app is not installed. Maybe force closing amber and them opening it again fixes it
If it matters, I'm using Amber v2.0.8-free
Maybe @nprofile…fpck can help us here. Any idea why the code is reaching this point? https://github.com/KoalaSat/pokey/blob/5c746991be6152c09909e901a5ec31ba79ea34a1/app/src/main/java/com/koalasat/pokey/models/ExternalSigner.kt#L28
Ok, so I'm not getting notifications on DMs. I've tried removing my Pokey permissions from Amber and starting fresh, but no matter what I do I'm unable to get DM notifications.
I just tested it on my second device and the same thing is happening. I authenticate with Amber, and the Pokey service starts but puts up that toast notification.
Yes, I approve the request like normal, and it starts the service normally. I haven't received an DM yet so I'm not sure if DM notifications are working, but non-auth notifications are fine. It just keeps putting up that toast message.
Did you grant permissions to Pokey?
I love the idea of selling your own honey for bitcoin. Do you have clover honey? Do you ship? 🐝🍯🪙
The latest version of #Pokey is using Amber, presumably for auth to DM inboxes. It correctly calls Amber, and starts the service after I've authenticated, but it's also throwing up a toast message saying "Amber not installed". @nprofile…vh28 any idea of what this problem is? It just an errant toast message? Or do you think there's something actually going wrong?
https://image.nostr.build/4104d8f258cbdaf14ca579ad1fe086fcf5695bb72be9ca1535b6e5f37eab30ef.jpg
Lol are you using Amethyst? Or some other client?
IDK? How do I tell the difference? Me stoopud
Have you bought food at the stadium lately? Especially the World Series? Honestly, I bet they were close to $50 each. No joke.
I linked my Breez wallet in the meantime. I'll try NWC again once you get it worked out.
yep thats why, we are currently only supporting alby nwc connection thats why you coupdnt lol, we figured that out just yesterday. I will DM you when it is implemented. u can created a wallet and use it temporary if you want from within the app itself or use external wallets for that 🙏
No, I use Minibits. It uses standard NWC.
your NWC is alby NWC or which one ?
I hope the docs gave you appropriate pain meds. It must be excruciating.
The wallet still doesn't work. I get a, "Invalid pairing secret" error when I try pasting my NWC connect string.
Thanks much appreciated 🙏
I just loaded the Android app and it's 100% better than it was the other day. Everything loaded properly and it looks great. I'll touch base with you again after I've had a chance to use it more. And I'll try the wallet thing again, too. 👍
I use Minibits Wallet. After it kept rejecting my connect string, I plugged the same credentials into Amethyst and Primal and it worked without any issues.
We are working on that and trying to get it ready for both obtainium and zap.store
No apologies necessary. These are the realities of active development. I'm downloading the app again now. Is there a reason why you don't make the mobile apps available for download through your github repo? I hate using the Play Store, and I'm pretty sure most Nostr users would prefer to go straight to the source rather than deal with Google and Apple app stores. I use Obtainium for pretty much everything, and would prefer to download and update through your development repo. Just a thought.
May i know the NWC you were trying to use is Alby nwc or another provider ?
the Amber issue has already been fixed along what is related to ot. It would really be nice if you could inform us via DMs of any issue you are facing and we are ready to fix. We are testing in both emulators and real devices, however we dont know which version of amber everyone is installing along other things. Sorry again for any inconvenience.
I am using Amber, so perhaps that's responsible for some of my issues although I don't think that would be the cause of the wallet issue. I'll give it another try. As I said, I was excited to try it because of how good the redesign looks. And I've been looking for a good home for long-form articles.
Welcome! Happy to know ya!
Its okay with that, i’m just asking because i didnt see your feedback anywhere else. If you are using Amber, they changed some specs requirements thats why it was not working however now its working properly. We are sorry for any inconvenience, however, just providing critical feedback is good for us rather than hearing something like this. Thats all.
I downloaded the android app because of how good the new design looked, but it was just one problem after another. The feed wasn't loading right, it wasn't pulling in my profile properly, and the wallet kept rejecting my NWC credentials despite the fact that the exact same connect string works fine everywhere else. It was just a struggle, and I ultimately gave up. I'll try it again in the future once the kinks are worked out, but based on my experience, and conversations with others, it's got a ways to go before it's really ready for production use.
what problems you are seeing to see something like this ?
I'm generally not a fan of KYC, but it's a hell of a lot easier to make regular purchases through commercial outlets like Onramper or Cash App than it is to make a p2p buy. And it's cheaper, too. I only paid a 1% premium as opposed to the 5%+ that p2p sellers were looking for. One dude had a 25% premium on his offer.
around here we have dark views about KYC buys 🤨
I'm feeling extra dumb today. 🤣
The whole reason I was looking for a p2p buy was because my ID is expired so I can't use it for KYC. But I forgot that I already did the KYC thing with Cash App when I signed up so I was good to go. I really should have thought things through before jumping into a Robosats trade, but I was just focused on buying so I was sloppy. I'll know better for next time.
I used to think so too lol. But I'm pretty sure rice absorbs water at a certain rate for the temp
yeah
lol
its always a learning experience at first.
Wise is pretty useful though. still KYC
but at least they don't know it a Bitcoin purchase.
You have 11 outbox relays? Or 11 general relays?
I feel kinda bad because the dude accepted my contract offer like 20min after I bought from Cash App. I requested a mutual cancellation, but if he refuses I'm OK with him keeping the sats I spent locking in the contract. I understand it's an inconvenience for him. 🤷♂️
yeah
+1
ive never had a problem
but its always taken a little time 😄
Oh damn. That sucks. Just keep in mind that you'll come out the other end of this and be OK. I'm sure that's not much consolation right now, but positive thinking will make big difference. Try to keep your chin up, and be thankful that it wasn't worse than it is.
Patience has never been one of my virtues. Lol. I was able to get what I needed instantly on Cash App. Didn't even need to wait for confirmations. I had forgotten about buying BTC on Cash App until someone else reminded me.
Emulators are really popular with mobile developers these days. It wouldn't surprise me if their Q/A was all on the emulators.
Just be patient, sometimes it takes some time.
But I never had an issue with any trade I did. Always worked out well.
I'd love to know if they're only testing releases in emulator or on physical devices.
Wouldn't it take different amounts of time based on how much you're making? Or does it cook at the same rate regardless? I was thinking maybe it had a sensor that measured the steam or something. Lol
Nothing but problems with that app.
Pretty sure it's on a timer
How the hell does my rice cooker know when the rice is ready? 🤔🍚
Thanks, but I already found a solution and sats are already in my wallet! But I'll keep it in mind for my next purchase. I appreciate you!
Feature-wise, I totally agree. The android app still has some kinks to work out, but nothing that effects the core functionality. It's a great option, and I have not doubt it will only get better in time.
Minibits is one of the best bitcoin wallets
I was being a smart ass and I am an OG minibits shill
I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner, but I already confirmed my ID with Cash App so I was just about to make my purchase using that! It was so easy! I feel dumb for not thinking of that sooner. Already got my sats!
Yeah, I'm not really interested in mining. I'm just trying to get like 100-150k sats for my monthly purchase. Last month I bought from Onramper, but when I tried to buy again a little while ago the transaction failed, and no reason was given. I emailed their support, so maybe I'll get it worked out, but I'm not counting on it. Hence my search for private transaction.
It's @nprofile…ckyu. You need to buy equipment. Better to buy the BTC unless you have access to very cheap energy
Well that sucks. My problem is that my ID expired at the end of August and I can't get it renewed for another month or two. And those bullshit ID scans always reject expired ID.
Yeah it's automated scanning of a residence doc
How do they do it? Do you just enter your personal information and they check it? Or do they require scanning your ID?
I'm not sure. From what I can tell, each seller defines which payment methods they accept. On Robosats, most of them use Wise.
It's all fiat, so yes KYC is required
I don't really care about my identity being linked to the transaction. My current issue with KYC is that my ID is expired and so the stupid automatic ID scans that everyone uses doesn't go through. I'm probably not going to be able to renew my ID for another month or two, so I'm just looking for a way to purchase in the meantime.
Do you happen to know if Robosats supports Transferwise?
Oh really? Is KYC verification required to use it? Or is the fact that you're linking your bank account sufficient confirmation of identity?
I use Wise often. It's fast and reliable 👍
Cash in the mail with Bisq is the most private. With CashApp and RoboSats you can share only your display name with the other party, but obviously you've already done KYC with CashApp and that info is available if the seller turns out to be an operative or CashApp gets subpoena'd.
I think it's a great idea. Medical records are traditionally a black hole where you don't really know who has them, or how to go about reviewing them. You'd think records of such a personal nature would be securely in the possession of the individual, and up to them to decide who gets access to them.
I just started with Robosats. I've currently got a locked contract and am just waiting for the seller to do his part. But I'm a little nervous about it. Payment is using some wire service called Wise that I've never used before. I'm hoping everything goes smoothly, but I've got the first-time jitters. What's bisq and hodlhodl?
Yep, we already have people on it :) every thing will be HIPAA compliant
You're going to want to look at HIPPA requirements for a better idea of how to properly secure health care data. I don't know if you care about creating a compliant solution, but the requirements would give you a good idea of the data protection concerns related to the storage and use of medical records.
Is that cloud mining operation?
Solomining with @oceanmining
What are some good ways to purchase Bitcoin without any of that KYC bullshit? Maybe a private transaction exchange coin for fiat in the form of Zelle, Cash App, Venmo, PayPal?
OMG that must have cost $150 for the two! Stadium food is sooooooo expensive.
You do know that auth.nostr1.com and nos.lol aren't NIP-17 relays, right?
Has anyone used Robosats to purchase BTC? I'm attempting my first buy and I'd appreciate any feedback or advice on completing a successful transaction. The seller I'm contracted with accepts Wise money transfer as payment. I've setup a Wise account, and I'm now just waiting for them to respond to my locked contract.
I ran Alby for a month, and there's no question it's a nice platform that makes running a node very easy. But when you tally the channel fees and subscription fee, it really only makes financial sense if you're transacting at least 100k sats per month. Even at 100k sats per month, you're effectively paying 20-30% in fees. For average users who are just zapping, a custodial solution makes a lot more sense. It's significantly less expensive, and lot easier.
+1. Plus, Nostr can sometimes feel like a targeted ads platform for certain Lightning ecosystems. Very few people are willing to admit that running a Lightning node to transact just a few thousand sats per month actually sacrifices not only convenience but also time and hard-earned sats.
To be clear, @nprofile…4zgq, I'm not talking about you—you're not trying to hide information or mislead anyone. But I enjoy being a bit of a contrarian. There's too many people on Nostr funnelling users toward the same two or three companies selling "convenient" Lightning software and services. I’m 100% in support of users running CLN/LND nodes, as long as they have a clear understanding of what they’re getting into and why.
I generally agree, and I maintain my BTC in a self-custodial wallet, but for the small amount of sats I use for zaps, it just doesn't make sense to pay for my own lightning node. The monthly expense usually exceeds the amount of my transactions. If I used lightning for more than zaps, and transacted over 100k sats per month, running my own node would make sense, but that's just not my situation.
I hear you, but for me, the cost of maintaining self-custody is a small price to pay for true freedom. Depending on third parties for control over your assets is essentially sacrificing freedom for convenience.
I take the liberty of saying these thoughts out loud again and again, as it could be important for others who think like me and need to know about this fact.
I've been using the Minibits Wallet and it's been pretty good. No KYC, and it's NWC compatible. It's got a few minor bugs related to the display of the transaction log, but overall it's been reliable.
That's exactly my position. I just shut down my channels and now I just move small amounts of BTC into a custodial wallet as needed. I never keep more than 50k sats in the lightning wallet as I only use it for zaps. The rest is kept on-chain. I just don't transact enough volume to justify the expense of running my own node.
I got a fever! And the only prescription is MORE COWBELL!
My life got a lot better when I switched to an independent, local pharmacy.
Money is a huge leverage point for the government to use to manipulate the populace. I agree this doesn't "solve" tyranny in large, but does take one piece out of the equation, money.
Next is censorship and government approved speech. Nostr takes this piece out of the equation, free speach.
Lastly is taking away ones ability to defend themselves but 3D printed guns and ghost guns takes this piece out of the equation, right to bear arms.
That being said tyranny is still not solved but it is kept in better check than before these technologies. To your point though, hopefully not that many bitcoiners are voting for Harris.
Wait, what? How does bitcoin solve the problem of tyranny and authoritarianism? Just look at the number of bitcoiners who are lining up to vote for the most dangerous, fascistic leader in our lifetime. Bitcoin doesn't negate the human impulses, and self-deceptions that allow democracy to fall, and tyranny to rise in its place.
I'm reading, "On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century", by Timothy Snyder today. It's important to be vigilant, and recognize the signs of authoritarianism.
"Could not return signatures necessary for this transaction" >> "Outputs have already been signed before"
Check the error detail in related transaction audit trail in the wallet.
I changed my receive address if you wanna try again. 🤙
I'm using Minibits Wallet (android).
Thanks for trying. What wallet/client are you using?
I am unable to zap you! 😢 It keeps giving an error stating that it "couldn't return signatures necessary for this transaction". I tried twice.
Zap if you want. I'm zapping you in advance! Zap! Zap! ⚡
It certainly can be frustrating. There's a lot of people who a guided entirely by their desire to believe, and never once employ critical thinking when evaluating some of these claims. But if you stick with it and cut through the weeds, there are definitely some amazing cases that defy conventional explanation. Those 1-5% of cases are what keep me engaged.
And then you go to the UFO subreddit and there's all these idiots talking about how they were "doing their CE5 meditation" and looked up and saw some ambiguous light moving across the sky. And they act like they've proven that they communicate with UFOs. Meanwhile, it's just the ISS moving across the sky, or some other innocuous object. But they're convinced that they've created a mind connection with the aliens. 🤦♂️
It's absolutely true. Just search "Steven Greer CE5" and you'll see all sorts of crap about it. He even sold his teachings as some sort of video course.
Wow, you’ve got to be kidding. If this is true I can’t listen to another minute 🤣
What a clown 🤡
He's also veered into some of the more ridiculous woo. He sells these "CE5" packages where you fly to some exotic location and mediate with him while he points out moving lights in the sky and pretends that they're UFOs that you have contacted with your meditation. I really despise him and everything he stands for. Grifters like him are a big part of the reason why it's been so difficult to get the mainstream to take the subject seriously.
I get the same vibes from him. He seems to love tying a bunch of conspiracies into one big one. So much of what he says contradicts himself and the main ideas he puts forward. My charlatan bells go off when I try to listen to him, same as graham dude that likes to do the big podcast circuit
Greer is absolutely a fraud and a charlatan. He's one of the worst characters in the UFO community. He actually used to be a decent guy, but something snapped in his brain following his 2001 DC Press Club conference. It was a huge success, and produced some really notable testimony, but it awoke a narcissistic demon in him.
Damn.... 14 years. How does that even happen? It's not like they weren't aware of the flaw. They knew about it since at least 2010. That's crazy.
Oh, then you don't have a choice. You have to just let it ride. When you finally get in touch with him, explain the miscommunication and maybe be prepared to make a one-time donation to OpenSats if he's upset about it. It will be a small price to pay to ensure satisfaction and future relations with him, and others.
That's a good idea because algo-relay is the most exciting thing to happen to relays in a long time, and by making your web client compatible you'll draw more users who want to try it.
I will make some adaptations for it. 🫡
If you've been reaching out to them, sending them DMs, and they haven't responded, there's not much you can do. You have the choice of either letting their sponsorship proceed, or cancelling it and returning their payment. I would just let their sponsorship proceed since exposure is probably their primary goal, but you may want to err on the side of caution. When does the epoch they've sponsored begin?
I've been trying trying to contact @nprofile…g6se about their sponsorship because it seems they sponsored under the pretense the OpenSats donation was still going. It was probably my fault since I didn't update the UI at the same time we made the decision to put the donations on hold while we bootstrap the user base. So now trying to figure out what to do, but they haven't responded 😅
Algo-relay was the first thing I thought of when I read this.
Minestr is a really fun and addictive game. I won the 6th epoch, and am planning on playing again soon. And they paid out my winnings very quickly, as well. It's run by good people who operate a straight game with integrity.
Phish-n-Ships... 😂 I like it (the name, not the tactic)
Welcome! I know it can be a bit overwhelming and confusing when you're just getting started. But it's pretty intuitive once you get the hang of it.
Assuming you're using Amethyst, which allows the configuration of different relay types, I would suggest the following as an initial config:
Public Inbox & Outbox Relays
* wss://relay.damus.io
* wss://relays.diggoo.com
* wss://nos.lol
DM Inbox Relays
* wss://auth.nostr1.com
* wss://relay.0xchat.com
Private Home Relays
* wss://relays.diggoo.com
Search Relays
* wss://relay.nostr.band
* wss://relay.noswhere.com
* wss://nostr.wine
General Relays
* wss://relay.nostr.band
* wss://relay.damus.io
* wss://relay.primal.net
* wss://nos.lol
* wss://relay.mostr.pub
* wss://relay.0xchat.com
This is a solid starting configuration that will provide you with fast and reliable note storage, authenticated private messaging, private storage of drafts and app settings, robust search, and comprehensive access to notes published by users across the network.
I would also recommend that if you're using Android, you download Citrine and run a local relay on your device. A local relay will store every note and comment you publish, and can serve as a backup and guard against censorship, as well as deletions by your public relays.
After you've been a user for a while, you may also want to consider paid relays which can offer greater spam protection, faster speeds, greater note retention, and greater security for your private DMs.
Aren't videos the domain of NIP-96? I thought that was for media while blossom was for file sharing.
Which would you recommend?
I've only been here for 14 days, though, time is warped and it feels like I've been part of the community for a lot longer 🗽
Every relay creates traffic. There's no functional benefit to having more that three strategically chosen relays.
That's way too many. You should aim for 3 public inbox/outbox relays. Anymore than that just creates extra traffic with no benefit.
I've found that 3 the optimum number of public inbox/outbox relays. One personal relay, one fast local relay, and one global relay. Anymore than that is just superfluous, and creates unnecessary, redundant traffic.
Lol Akshully... If we're being literal, those are individual mints, not single mints. A single mint would be alone, and not with a group of other individuals. 🤓
Single mints.
https://imgs.search.brave.com/7mg_dSAHLG8rVX2T5A-A7mtp6Puwjii48UQlXtZF6zo/rs:fit:860:0:0:0/g:ce/aHR0cHM6Ly9jZG4x/LmJpZ2NvbW1lcmNl/LmNvbS9zZXJ2ZXI0/ODAwL2M5N2M0L3By/b2R1Y3RzLzY5L2lt/YWdlcy80MjEvTWVu/dG9zX01pbnRfTG9v/c2VfQnVsa19XX182/NzcxMy4xNDEwNzM3/MjYyLjE3MS4xNzEu/anBnP2M9Mg
Hmmm... Maybe this is an unrelated problem. Or it's the same problem that I've incorrectly attributed to my mint consolidation, although my problem pretty much disappeared as soon as I went to a single mint.
A corresponding problem I was having was that about half the time, my transactions weren't showing up in my transaction log even though they were successful. I think Minibits has flagged that as a bug that will be resolved in a future release.
Is it only Alby zap sends you're having trouble with, or is it every provider?
I'm curious if you have multiple mints configured in Minibits, or just a single mint? I was having issues with zaps failing, and after I consolidated into a single mint the problem seemed to be resolved. I've been sending and receiving zaps via Amethyst NWC successfully ever since.
Ugh... I hate pickles. I'll give you whatever pickles they give me.
I'm not sure that name inspires confidence 🤔
I love the ability to customize your own experience. Just another way nostr is superior to other platforms.
I guess I'm wondering how long my account can stay dormant before it and my LN address are deleted. I may opt for a self-hosted option within the next 30-60days, so I'm hoping my account won't be nuked right away.
I don't think so. I have getalby ln address without the cloud subscription, and you can have alby hub self hosted btw.
100 $GRASS?! Sign me the hell up! 🤪
I am aware. It's something I'm considering. My account and the LN address I created won't be deleted just because I discontinued the cloud subscription, will it?
PS
@npub1vkg…q4uq you know that you can run your Alby Hub on your PC, Raspberry PI or server?
It costs nothing and you really run your own node 😉
That place is a hell-hole.
Just hours after Elon Musk admitted Donald Trump’s policies will tank the entire economy, Trump confirmed his plans to let Musk be a part of the destruction, claiming that “nobody is going to feel it.” 🤦♂️ https://newrepublic.com/post/187712/elon-musk-trump-tank-economy
The fact that it was an event that everyone fondly remembers tells you how rare and unlikely such an occurrence actually is. Something akin to winning Powerball.
Donald Trump's plan to eliminate income tax is insane economics.
It will hurt desperately poor people and further enrich the very wealthy.
That's why the billionaires who are pouring tens of millions of dollars into his campaign are so excited about it.
https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/10/41642184/bernie-sanders-says-trumps-plan-to-eliminate-all-income-taxes-is-insane-economics-will-trigger-the-b
The web app has problems, too. While it correctly loads my profile, it says I don't have any notes. But if I go to the dashboard, it lists my popular notes correctly. So there's some disconnect in displaying a user's notes despite the fact that the data is obviously there.
It's just the stock Samsung ROM. I'm using a Note 10+ right now. I haven't tried it on my S22 Ultra yet.
Actually scratch that. It doesn't provide a PWA, only a basic link to the site. Boooooooo this would be a perfect site for a PWA. 👎
Are you running GOS or other PrivSec ROM or just stock android?
The web app seems to work. It read my profile in via my Nos2x browser extension and correctly populated my profile with my nostr profile Pic and details. The feed loaded without a problem. I haven't tried the wallet yet, but I I bet it's gonna work. I'm just going to create a PWA link on my home screen and forget about the mobile app for now.
Ooh, that's spicy. I like it.
I don't know because they have a GitHub repo. But it only has the code, not the apk releases. That makes no sense to me, especially considering their audience.
Yeah I wanted to try it out too
but it's only available on the Play Store so I'm kinda meh also
It sucks because the screenshots look really good. I was excited to get into it. 🤷♂️
ah damn and here I thought maybe it was Lockdown Mode getting in the way for me.
Sad to hear the app is just borked all around
doesnt load for me either on Graphene
I guess I'm the unlucky android user who couldn't get it to work. Grrrrrr
No, I'm on Android. I tried an older version a while ago, but I don't think I liked it because I got rid of it. I don't even remember it that much. But I saw that the new version was released, and the details and screenshots looked really good so I figured I'd try it again.
I was pleased at first because it worked with Amber to sign in, but it just went downhill from there. Even through it read my npub, it just had a generic profile without any of my details. Then, I went to update the relays to include my public outbox relays and it wouldn't save them. It just kept failing to save. Then, I tried to configure my wallet using NWC, which has worked flawlessly on Amethyst, Primal, and Nostrmo, and it just kept rejecting my NWC credentials.
That's three strikes as far as I'm concerned. Maybe I'll try it again in the future to see if they get the kinks worked out.
sounds like Android users have been fine... I wonder if they are using a multi-platform framework and it's not ios 18 optimized
yeah
i tried it out today
profile wouldn't load
following feed was empty
relays all gone
looked good but not impressed
yea the feed almost never loads for me too.
are you on ios?
I've had nothing but problems with that app. It refuses to update my relay list, it rejects my NWC config, it isn't importing my nostr profile properly, and I'm having trouble getting the notes feed to populate. I got frustrated with it after a half hour of trying to get it to work, so I uninstalled it. Life is too short.
Lol I did not know that was your co-signing emoji. I'll keep that in mind next time. 😁👍
You could also try tapping on the Pokey icon in your application switcher and select Keep Open. https://image.nostr.build/ba4e5e2fd3ffa2167e2c1775954df69f7b4a8940df8a6f8ca9ebefd7a8dfcffb.jpg
I tend to restart it once or twice a day just out of habit. I do that for every service that runs all the time. Android, especially newer models, can be very aggressive with app shutdowns, even if you takes steps to tell it not to shut down certain apps.
It's similar to Strike. You have to take Pic of your ID. But I've been using Speed for a while now and I never completed the KYC thing. It hasn't interfered with my use so I'm not sure what's point 🤷♂️ Maybe it only comes into play if you try selling your coins through their marketplace.
I've done this, it's still not working sometimes so I have to restart it.
Likes like they are KYC only for US users unfortunately 😔
Make sure you go into the battery settings for the app and disable battery optimizations. It should be set to "Unrestricted". https://image.nostr.build/f856f886835056c95e07807dc09bcc6be3554b8fc45606de58fad5f5f4a6ab7b.jpg
Awesome! You're kicking some serious ass with Pokey! You're a true nostr hero! 🐴
If you are using Amber, yes. Its already part of the next release.
Both of my defined DM Inbox relays require auth. Will Pokey be able to generate notifications from DMs through these relays? For reference, I'm using auth.nostr1.com and inbox.nostr.wine
True. You're taking a chance on that first run.
Yes...but you don't know when you just start using it....
I refuse to use clients that disrespect my relay config.
Ludicrously fast! LMFAO 🤣
It's just the normal network routing fees on transactions under 100k sats, and an additional 10 sats for every 100k on spend transactions.
Stephen Hawking was a staunch atheist.
Thanks for your feedback SLCW! We are trying our best to bring down that cost and put more functionality into the Hub.
We're glad you gave it a try and hope you come back one day! Good luck 🔥
Nah, if I think it was I would have added an exclamation mark at the end of the sentence❗️
Brief history of time, the author gives a very objective concept based on evidence and belief.
What are the fees like? I've heard about this wallet from @nprofile…j54p before I think. Or maybe it was @nprofile…h5yj
This is the error I get whenever I try to add Citrine to Amber. https://file.nostrmedia.com/f/65912a7ad17fd5cf3bacce9759f3bea3a44f9a3397340e559cf067945dc638bf/ee83f4733c68fa1fc9a896b6c53d4f7c06371bf1cf42d6e2279df79ed86a1158.jpg
It wouldn't practically work out right now. Maybe in a few year. I wouldn't be able to make the limited space work.
If you're looking for a Nostr-compatible sat wallet to send and receive zaps, check out Speed Wallet!
Speed Wallet is a fast, reliable custodial wallet supporting Bitcoin and Tether. All accounts include a custom Lightning address. Great for small-denominations, no minimum transaction size restrictions.
If you sign up with my referral link, you'll get 500 sats cashback FREE with your first transaction of 1000+ sats. If you deposit 1000 sats into the wallet, that qualifies you for the 500 sats cashback.
Use my referral code 8EZ7ST or simply click the link below to get started.
https://links.speed.app/referral?referral_code=8EZ7ST
That's fun, little PWA. I did some test transactions and it worked without any issues. I probably won't actively use it because it's so early in development, and I'm already using Minibits Wallet, but I'm keeping it bookmarked for future use. I love the retro UX! It reminds me of when I learned C on an IBM AS/400!
Should I start using Taproot (P2TR) addresses? Or is Segwit (P2WPKH) still the recommended address type?
I'd love to live in a van down by the river.
My first paid job as a teenager was dressing up as various characters for kid's birthday parties. Sesame Street and Ninja Turtles were my specialty. It even led to a gig working as the mall Easter Bunny. Those were the days.
It's fun when it works. If I want a high-availability relay server backed by service-level agreements and guaranteed uptime, a leased VPS is probably the best, most economical solution. I've got a few spare machines I could hook to my home internet and run a reverse proxy on, but I prefer the idea of running a competent server out of data center with redundant hardware and connectivity. Call me crazy 🤪
Yes but where's the fun in that
Would haven run well on a rented VPS? Are there any special hardware or performance requirements?
It looks like you're already running away with this one! I think you and the other high-roller should have paced yourselves so that more people weren't intimidated into avoiding the game. In the end, I think it would have benefitted you to have a full field of pool players who were all invested so that winning actually meant winning money. As it is, it looks like you and the other high-flux fella are going to split the pot, meaning you're basically just getting back what you put in. 🤷♂️
You say that like it's a good thing 🙄
#ElonMusk is promising economic #hardship if #Trump is elected, in service to some ambiguous, undefined, future greatness. Of course, #billionaires like #Musk won't actually have to contend with the consequences of such hardship, but the vast majority of Americans surely will. It's beyond insane that one of Trump's main surrogates is promising economic hardship as a #campaign pledge. But I'm sure the #cult is excited for the coming struggle.

After much consideration, I shut down my @nprofile…qss4 Hub channels, and cancelled my Alby Cloud subscription this afternoon. While Alby Hub is an amazing platform, I just don't conduct enough transactions or volume to justify the subscription fee.
If my Lightning volume increases, I'll consider reestablishing my subscription, but for now I'll be using Aqua Wallet for on-chain and Lightning savings, and Minibits Wallet for Lightning and eCash spending, including zaps. This arrangement provides me with the functionality I need, but without the 10-20k sats per month in fees.
It's been fun, Alby. I wish you well, and recommend you to anyone looking for an inclusive, self-custodial Lightning platform.
Not really. All of the evidence supports evolution, and none of the evidence supports creation. Creation has nothing but assertion without empirical basis. It's possible that the initial spark of life was the result of some creation process, but the entire body of evidence supports evolution as the process by which the most rudimentary form of life became the most complex. And in that body of evidence is the probability that life began out of some natural process, and not some act of divine creation. These are not equally likely explanations.
It's a purely subjective evaluation. A lot of people love those Yeezy shoes, but I think they're hideous. My view is but that of one man.
Three cheers for @nprofile…x66a!
Hip-hip hooray!
Hip-hip hooray!
Hip-hip hooray!
We could do a round of "For he's a jolly good fellow" next!
Seriously tho, he does amazing work and has contributed greatly across the Nostr spectrum, everything from original relays to Cashu mints, and lots in between. I hope people are being generous with their zaps, because he deserves every sat!
There's too much flat black. It makes the Damus logo look kitschy and cheap. It would be better if the black base was broken up with some lines or other design so that the Damus logo isn't the only thing that stands out.
You'll need to increase your flux to around the level of the top 2 players if you want to be competitive.
So, it just allows users to upload files? Similar to how NIP-96 works for media?
It's a protocol for managing files on nostr
I see a bunch of new players joined the game. Y'all better start spending some sats to beef up your mining operations. If you want to be competitive, your flux output needs to greater than the leading player. Otherwise, you'll never catch up and your sats will end up in @nprofile…x3gd's wallet!
Sorry for being dumb, but what is Blossom?
Next time. I may have won, but we both walked away with basically the same prize. We going to Sizzler, daddy!
congrats 🍾 for winning epoch 6. i can’t afford more sats to catch you up
I like Primal zaps more than on Amethyst. I like how it just instantly lights up indicating a zap, as opposed to Amethyst which does that little purple wheel of death where you sit there praying the zap went through.
same for me. though I'm trying to use Primal only for the next few days to find out what I feel it's missing the most.
Primal is nice, but there's something about it that just doesn't feel like home. I always find myself returning to Amethyst.
Timing analysis was always a weakness of tor. But you need to have certain information about your targets ahead of time to effectively carry it out. I wonder what potential solutions there are to such an analytical exploit?
This guide on running your own relay, including detailed walk through on installing and configuring HAVEN may by of some assistance to you.

UPDATE: I contacted @nprofile…3xgh support and they took a look at my OPML file and discovered a bug in how they were processing it. A fix will be included in the next release! Thanks Fountain, for responding so quickly and diagnosing the problem. I look forward to importing all my titles as soon as the next version is released!
How fast they're moving has nothing to do with what their expressed goal is. This isn't a secret, or some baseless speculation. It's their agenda as they have repeatedly stated.
Lol. Ah yes, the 300 year long plan. They aren't moving very fast. 😂
Newsflash: you don't demolish cities to ruble if you plan on keeping them and settling them.
They do, but it doesn't look like their mobile apps are available on their repos. Have a look:
https://github.com/sovereign-app
I don’t use play store…
Do they have a GitHub
It's available on the Play Store as well.
It's probably because until relatively recently, left-handed people were considered evil, and murdered before they could reproduce. Artificial selection made the gene more rare. I'm not sure if that's actually the reason, but it makes sense to my monkey brain.
This article has a more scientific explanation, and ylu should probably rely on it instead of my speculation.
https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/why-are-more-people-right/
It's crazy to not use at least a 21-char, randomly generated password in 2024. Need mawr entropy!
What problems were you having with a larger number of follows?
I played the @nprofile…zy0n game, and they promptly payed out my winnings less than 24hrs after the game ended. Minestr is fun and addictive! Give it a try!
https://file.nostrmedia.com/f/65912a7ad17fd5cf3bacce9759f3bea3a44f9a3397340e559cf067945dc638bf/1bd7d2dee65cd412d14077bae53e44ae6df5831d3258caa8ae29375077573dff.jpg
Well, it is conjecture if don't have an empirical basis to justify the numbers. But I certainly accept the basis you've provided for your conjecture. It's possible that it would have gotten 100 million views if not for the censorship you claim. But you can't conflate your conjecture and assumptions with objective fact. Simply claiming it would have gotten 100 million views, and pointing to some other popular channel that gets 100 million views is not a basis for asserting it as a fact.
Oh really? Thanks for the heads up. I'd cry if I lost all my bookmarks.
Wow, that's an amazing extrapolation from the basic question I actually asked. I'm gonna get you a Jump to Conclusions mat for Christmas. Making an empirical assertion demands supporting evidence. A specific number was thrown out, and I'm just asking for the empirical basis for that number. Is it based on any data? Or is it just some large number that was plucked out of the air?
You see what you want to see.
You can't fathom that Goog doesn't align with Trump?
You can't imagine that they boost content they like and dampen content they don't?
Seriously?
be careful though Habla will kill your bookmarks
Conjecture? Those are typical views for a Mr beast video. It’s not that hard for a YouTube trending video to get to a hundred million. This is the most cultural relevant and iconic podcast episode in history. It’s got 1/3 of that while being shadow banned in search on both YouTube and google. It’s not conjecture. It would easily be 100+
I bought an ounce of gold back in 2012 from a metals dealer I met in the bitcoin-otc IRC channel.
They're probably going to discourage other users from joining the game. It'll be a head-to-head game and they'll end up splitting the pot, meaning they'll basically just get their money back. They should have gone slowly and got some more users in the game.
You were right lol. Poor @nprofile…fdvq 😅
This game is too rich for my blood. Y'all are crazy 🤪
Wow, this is getting insane. The pot is going to be up to a million sats by the end!
lfg 🚀 it’s now 🔥 catch us ⚡️
LMFAO this is going to be a crazy game. Good thing I just bought a fresh box of Orville Redenbacher. 🍿
This is gonna be a high-roller's game.
Go get 'em, killer. Watch out for @nprofile…x3gd. He's sneaky AF and he has the luck of the gods.
Oh damn, he's not playing around. I'm glad I decided to stay out of this one. Lol
Good luck to all the players. Except you, @nprofile…x3gd. You don't need anymore luck! 🤣 I'm sitting this one out, but I'll be back for the next game. Go mine some blocks!
Woo-Hoo! I never win anything, so this is nice. Thanks for creating such a fun game! It gets really addictive as the competition heats up. I'm looking forward to playing another epoch soon!
🥳 Epoch 6 has now finished!
The final leaderboard is below. Congratulations to 🏆 @npub1vkg…q4uq and all the other players who won some sats!

That's quite the conjecture. What are you basing that on?
It would have 100 million + if they weren’t censoring it from search.
Klanish, but also stylish!
You have to add one emoji at a time from your keyboard. Add it to the form field like you're typing, and then click the button to add it to your list.
Long-press on the reaction button instead of tapping it. It will bring up the interface to add more emojis.
Oh, I thought you were talking about value related to some other instrument.
Less compared to eachother. We are talking about Canidian vs Aussie dollars.
Less compared to what other instrument?
You are right that I was talking about value but if you want to get all in to the weeds they Aussie dollars are used far less as well as measured by either population using them or GDP.
They may be worthless, of limited worth, but they're not useless. They're still accepted everywhere for virtually every transaction, making them useful. That's different from value.
It's not good or bad. It's a medical procedure that women should have the right to choose for themselves. You wouldn't say amputation is good or bad. That's not the right dichotomy to view it in.
It got like 22 million views. If they were trying to censor it, I'm not sure they were very successful.
I'm sorry for your loss. Losing a beloved dog hurts so much, but the years of joy and love they give us is worth the pain. Peace and love to you and your family ❤️
That should say "Vitor", not Victor. Stupid autocorrect. Sorry, Vitor!
Vitor previously published a guide on how to properly setup your relays. Check it out!

I hate KYC. I've been successful in avoiding it so far, but I always worry about the noose tightening, making it impossible to find a provider to buy and sell BTC without requiring ID scans and other KYC bullshit.
Has anyone successfully imported their podcasts into Fountain? I exported my library in OPML format, and I'm able to pull them up in Fountain, but I can't them to actually finish importing so that they appear in my Fountain library. I don't get it.
LMFAO 🤣 it's a system that allows fast tabulation, and confirmation of accurate results. You should take a few minutes to update your understanding of how the system works.
that's "trust statistics and random audits bro" with no extra steps.
That's trust me bro with extra steps.
The digital votes are used for the primary tally, and the paper receipt allows the voter to ensure their vote was accurately recorded, and is also used for auditing. It's a hard confirmation that the votes were accurately tabulated, and that the results are accurate.
yes. machine counting is faster, so you get the results fast. Counting paper is slow, so you only do it for a few random machines just to audit the results, or if someone complains about a specific machine.
No, if it also uses paper ballots, why digital also?
It allows the voter to confirm that their vote was accurately captured and tabulated.
Okay so what’s the point then? Redundancy?
They print a paper ballot that's compared to the digital ballot to ensure the tally is accurate.
What about maybe adding a web form to the game screen where players can set their preferred lightning address for payouts? That would address the issue of people wanting their payouts to go to a different address while preserving your ability to process payouts programmatically.
They must have an unlimited data plan.
At small numbers it's manageable, but if we get like 50 players, it takes quite a while to send unique zaps with comments. There will be reminders about keeping zap addresses current prior to the automated payouts ☺️
Maybe a future version of Pokey will be able to auth via Amber to allow reading the DM relays.
I didn't get a Pokey notification for your DM, so I'll add nos.lol as you suggested. Hopefully that will trigger a notification on DM.
I don't know if Pokey is already AUTHing with your Amber key. That will be required to see your DMs.
I disabled Amethyst's notifications because I'm using Pokey which is hooked to my private inbox relays. I haven't had any DMs since I setup Pokey, but I'm assuming that it will be able to deliver DM notifications. Could you send me a DM to test that?
Only if you want DM notifications. Your DMs are now so private that even our Push Notification server cannot see them. So, if you want them, you need an opening, but everyone else will also see your events.
I'm confused. Why would I want my private DMs visible to others? Isn't the whole point to have relays that allow anyone to write, but require user authentication to read?
I wouldn't use citrine for Search. I would just use the default items there.
If you want DM notifications directly on amethyst, add nos.lol to your Private Inbox. This makes your DMs visible to others.
The profile download link works for me. I just downloaded mine with no problem.
You should check out Victor's relay guide.

I'd appreciate an official Vitor Pamplona review of my relays!
Ya, Primal doesn't differentiate the different types of relays the way Amethyst does.
I like the idea of money operations being done manually. Having a human review and process the payouts enhances trust, IMO. I can imagine a situation where someone might not want their payout to go to their listed zap address, but to some alternate address for whatever reason. A manual process allows such a user to communicate their preference to you before the payout the processed.
Yup, to the zap address. So everyone should make sure they have one 😁 It's done manually at the moment so it's usually within 24 hours. In future it will be automated to be sent immediately 👍
My Pokey is pulling less than 0.1% of battery usage. I comparison, Amethyst is pulling 1.4%. So Pokey's battery useage has been very good for me. I suspect its battery useage is dependant on how many notifications a user receives over time, but generally speaking it appears to be very efficient.
Did you disable battery optimizations for Pokey? It should be set to "Unrestricted" to keep it from being closed or deactivated by Android's regular device optimizations.
How do payouts work? Does it just go to our zap address?
We're living in the future!
I appreciate you letting us know about this issue.
We're approaching the finish line! 🏆🎉
cool, yes its only about 1/3 of the relays right now. contabo is having issues with one of the VM hosts.

My relay (rocky.nostr1.com) appears to be functioning properly.
Yeah, we'll see how it goes. It ain't over until it's over.
Yeah, it was pretty crazy. You've made up some ground since though 👍🍀
That evil @nprofile…x3gd has the luck of the Irish. He was hitting like 10 blocks in a row when he was 20k flux lower than me. I was so bitter. 🤣
I just zapped you from my Minibits Wallet via NWC and it went through just fine.
I thought that looked familiar. It's a really clean integration.
Yeah, they also built nostr-login, the tool that I use for user login at minestr.app 🤗
He doesn't have a very robust vocabulary.
That's a really cool service. I'm thinking of building a site with them for blogging and articles. I love that it's built on Nostr. So cool 😎
Perfect! This is exactly what I'm looking for. I like the way highlighter looks, but Habla appears to have better functionality. I think I'm going to start with Habla and see how it goes. Thanks for the links!
Maybe have a look at https://highlighter.com/ or https://habla.news/
What's the best client for posting long-form notes and articles? I'd like to get into some longer writing, but I'm not really sure where to go.
Oh there's no argument here. Just a friendly discussion and sharing of perspectives. I can't claim my beliefs as a fact because I don't have the data, but they are based on my personal interactions with a variety of people. I'm just extrapolating and applying my subjective experience to the larger population. I could easily be totally wrong.
I like your optimism and I won't argue with you.
That's true. For some people, they do take on the underlying beliefs of the extremists, becoming extremists themselves. But I believe that if you were able to sit everyone down one-on-one and question them not about their political identity, but about their views on specific issues, the result would be a majority objectively landing somewhere in the space between far-left and far-right. Extremism may be their outward identity, but querying their specific beliefs would reveal more nuance, and a complex identity that can't be lumped into either extreme.
Sure but at some point performative becomes reality. When you perform a certain way your actions are not on a stage. If you beat someone in a mob you can later say that your actions were just performative but there will still be a very real bloody person on the streets.
Yeah, it's basically a straight pipe between your relays and your device's notification system.
I agree with you, although I can't speak about Australia specifically. But people have a tendency to pay a role, and outwardly model their behavior on what they perceive as expected. The media is shaping expectations, and people who are really somewhere in between far-left and far-right are changing their behavior to conform with with they believe is expected, as conveyed by the media. It's all performative. When you actually ask these people about their views on various topics, it becomes clear they're a lot less extreme than their performance would indicate.
It's a new notification app for Nostr by @nprofile…33ka. It runs as a persistent service and attaches to your inbound relays. As soon as a qualifying event hits your relays, it triggers a notification that you can then click on and go straight to it in your client. It's still alpha software, but it's been really great so far.
I don't know mate.
I think if you dropped of a random person from Melbourne at just about any point in the past they would be seen as pretty radical.
Then again if you were to drop them off their views would change because they are incapable of thinking for themself and will just follow the dominant narritave.
I just received 4 notifications on pokey, 0 on oxchat. Pokey isn't missing any.
I don't know how to compare the two. They both reliably deliver notifications. But I think Pokey's mechanism is more elegant and functionally sound as it hooks directly to your relays and generates notifications the instant a new qualifying event hits. It's very fast, and in my experience so far, very reliable.
I think most people are not far-left or far-right, but somewhere in the middle. But the extremes are what's exciting, and what drive attention so the media focuses almost entirely on them, promoting the false notion that everyone is an extremist lunatic. The media is shaping the political reality rather than conveying what's actually going on. The result is a warped perspective that most people accept despite the fact that it doesn't match their lived experience.
This is the attitude of most faith leaders. If you don't subscribe to their specific religion, you're an enemy who's damned to eternal hellfire. This belief justifies their atrocious behavior, and mistreatment of those outside their faith.
You can edit in Amethyst, but not every relay shows the edited version. Personally, I like the ability to edit because I often make mistakes as a result of typing on the phone keyboard. On Nostr, I always make sure I proofread before posting due to the poor support for edits.
Do you do the whole rice, and toast thing?
Wiping your device is still the primary method of protecting your data recommended by manufacturers, but the valet mode, or "repair mode" is a good second option to consider. Here's a good explanation of how repair mode works on Android:
https://www.pocket-lint.com/what-is-google-pixel-repair-mode/
yes, new Androids have it. I don't trust it yet
Some devices have a "valet" mode. You activate it before bringing it in for service and it protects your data from being accessed.
be sure to wipe your device before taking to a service business to replace the battery
It depends on the specific model you have, but generally speaking I'd say just get a new phone. A lot of phones sold in the past 5-10 years have gotten rid of the user-serviceable battery. It's technically possible to replace the battery in these contained devices, but it's not an easy task, and there's no guarantee some hardware integrity system isn't going brick the phone when you boot it up the first time. Buying a new or used replacement device is probably the better option.
Wow. Let me introduce you to a new piece of technology known as the "pastebin".

#Meta (#Facebook / #Instagram) and #Twitter have both suspended the accounts of the kid who made that website tracking the private jets belonging to Zork and Musk. Hate speech, child exploitation, and overt disinformation are all welcome on these platforms, but don't dare inform people of the location of these executives' planes!
It's strikingly hypocritical for Zork and Musk to ban these accounts which are based entirely on publicly available data. I hope this guy joins Nostr where he can post this information without fear of censorship.

I might actually write up a guide. It would be good thing for new users, and would make getting their zaps properly setup a lot smoother. As it is, new users are sorta thrown to the wolves and not given much guidance on which wallet to use, and how to set it up with their Nostr client. Once you use NWC, you'll never want to use anything else. And right now, I'm pretty sure Alby and Minibits are the only wallets that support it. And Alby requires a significant financial commitment while Minibits doesn't require anything.
Well, it was easy for me. It has decent in-app documentation but it could probably benefit from a Nostr-specific how-to guide that walks the user through the entire setup process. As a wallet, it's pretty straightforward. It's basically install-and-go. But the Nostr Wallet Connect part might not be so intuitive for new normies.
Sorry that ? was meant to be a ! 😅
Thanks for the feedback? Would you say minibits is easy enough for new people to use?
This has to be the worst-ever rendition of the American National Anthem. She stopped in the middle of her caterwauling twice to say, "I fucked it up!" I would bet my last sat that she will never be asked to sing anything ever again. 🤯🇺🇸🎆

FYI, Wallet of Satoshi doesn't work for US users. Thr Minibits Wallet is the best option for US users as it integrates with Nostr via Nostr Wallet Connect.
I think it makes more sense to focus on core features and stability. I mean, anyone who wants to can an fork an OS and build nostr into it, but I think it makes more sense for nostr devs to focus on building and improving the protocol and functionality.
Is there a benefit to using this instead of the Minibits Wallet? The Minibits wallet provides a lightning address, and works with Nostr Wallet Connect for use with compatible Nostr clients. As far as I can tell, this web wallet doesn't provide that functionality. Am I missing something, or is the Minibits Wallet a better option for use with Nostr?
That's a very narrow view of what verification means. Nostr already has a process to verify your Mastodon github, and Twitter accounts. The process of linking your nostr profile to your external accounts is a form of identity verification that could conceivably be used to verify identity for a NIP-05 address.
I need to see your driver's license, social security number, and 3 pieces of mail sir.
🤣
I don't know. I'm just saying it's not verification without a verification process. As it is, it's just a user-friendly substitute for an npub.
How do you reliably verify anyone? You’d have to know them and do it in person, or via some other already verified channel.
It's only verification if there's a reliable verification process to get one. Now, it's just address association with an npub.
I hope I'm wrong, too. But I grew up in NY in the 80s and 90s, and I know who this man is. There's a reason why NY votes overwhelmingly against him. The Hitler thing is overblown, but there's no question he has fascist tendencies. And this has nothing to do with who I support. His statements and actions are textbook fascism, as are his stated desires related to his governing. This is an objective fact.
Last time around, he didn't know anything and he had people around him who pushed back against his worst instincts. That's not the case this time. He's put together a team of sycophantic loyalists who share his authoritarian desires, and will facilitate his agenda with no regard for the constitution. They seek the end of the republic, and the imposition of an authoritarian state influenced by Christian Nationalism.
Given his age, he also has nothing to lose. I believe he will be the absolute worst version of himself, and the country will pay a terrible price for it.
I hope you're wrong for the country's sake lol and I agree he's petty. But I don't think despite being an asshole, he's gonna be the boogieman Hitler archetype all the fearmongering media is making him out to be.
WTF is communist/fascist? Those are mutually exclusive terms. One is far-left and the other is far-right. Conflating the two is nonsensical. There's no such thing as a communist/fascist.
Come on, man. Trump has been openly calling for vengeance and retribution at every opportunity. He's already assembled a team of people responsible for making a list of people to go after if he wins. This isn't 2016, and if he wins he will have absolutely no guardrails or people to stand in his way. His entire life is filled with examples of revenge, and an obsession with seeking vengeance on his opponents. If he wins, retribution against his perceived enemies will be at the top of his agenda.
I like that there are many different types of clients. Different people have different needs, and having options is an attractive feature, IMO.
I have a Sears Roebuck catalog from the late 19th century and it doesn't have any tiny houses.
I saw a video of a guy who bought one these. He filmed the delivery and setup, then did a walk-through. Not the highest quality, and it's really small, but it's definitely a legit tiny house.
There's only so many hours in the day!
Well done ✅ I've been meaning to add some more questions, but working on a new feature currently, to be in time for next epoch 😊
I just rocked today's quiz! My bitcoin and nostr knowledge is fueling my Minestr mining operations!
There's nothing left-wing about claiming someone is a Russian asset. It may be people on the left making that claim, but it's not reflective of left-wing political ideology. I don't think Elon is a Russian asset, but he's ego-driven, and sloppy—both traits that the former KGB Russian dictator is known to seek out and exploit for his own purposes.
In any case, it's concerning that someone with Elon's money, government contracts, and security clearance is having regular conversations with one of America's primary enemies. I would feel the same way regardless of the political affiliation of the person having these contacts, and I only hope that American intelligence is monitoring the situation closely for the sake of protecting the nation's interests. I see this as a matter of national security, not politics.
Interesting. I thought it was a tardigrade. I wasn't familiar with bdelloids. #learning

Pokey's been stable and reliably delivering notifications like a champ on my devices. And it's so fast, too. Because it's pulling directly from my relays, notifications are pretty much instant. Also, power consumption has been really good, using less than 0.1% of my battery after 2hrs. For comparison, Amethyst uses 1.4% in the same time period. You've done a great service to the community, and I can't wait to see what changes new updates bring! 🐴 🥂 💯

I'm pretty sure it's Ubuntu with xfce. It does run better on weak hardware, old laptops etc. Whenever I get an older laptop, I always go with Mint. But otherwise, it's Ubuntu.
It's also illegal to change a vehicle's VIN.
SimpleX is awesome. Keychat is a good option for chatting with Nostr friends, but it doesn't provide the privacy of SimpleX.
Thanks for the comprehensive explanation. Really nice project! I will stick with Simplex for now but good to have a nostr native option that is secure.
Something has to be done about this guy.
Yeah, but this makes it really easy. Just install the app and plug in the npub of the person you want to monitor. Even if it doesn't solve the greater issue, requiring authentication would close a pretty big door.

Sure, but the change in the client won't change anything. Anyone can watch your notifications if your inbox relays allow them to. Especially if you use public/free relays.
Nothing embodies American culture more than Cracker Barrel.
I'm kinda concerned about privacy. You could put anyone's npub in Pokey and get their notifications including content. It would probably be wise to change it to use nsec or Amber to ensure that only the npub holder can configure it for their npub.
Everyone deserves a chance.
You probably use more than the average user, you being Derek Ross and all. I bet your Pokey is exhausted from relaying all those notifications.
After 2hrs of battery use, Pokey hasn't even used enough battery to show up on my app list. That means it's consuming less than 0.1% which is really good. For reference, Amethyst has used 1.4% in the same time.
There will probably also be some anonymous dick pics. But if some solid Intel makes it to the people, I guess it's worth it!
Thanks! That's precisely its mission 😎 Hopefully, it'll be used like that. ✊
This looks like a cool project. I can envision something like this being a great tool for whistleblowers and other people who need to get information out on a censorship-resistant platform without it being linked back to them.
Dunno. I've been plugged in all day. But I just unplugged so I'll see what looks like in a few hours.

He's quite persistent 😄💚 May the blocks be with you (and everyone else)! 😊
Pokey is running like a champ! It didn't like being updated, and I had to manually restart it to get my notifications back up, but once it's running and attached to your relays, the notifications are instantaneous. The latest version tries opening your client when you click on the notification, but Amethyst at least isn't handling the passed URI properly. So, you still have to manually open your client to interact with the notification. Can't wait to see what changes are in the next release!
Bisdak is getting on my last nerve 🤣

I'm not sure that removing the ability to login using nsec is a good idea. Maybe it would be better to make Amber more prominent while leaving a link to use nsec. I don't think you want to make Amethyst reliant on another app.

McDonald's didn't have bacon in the 80s and 90s except for breakfast I think. I think it wasn't until early 2000s that they introduced bacon on the lunch/dinner menu.
It works! And it's really fast, too. Notification is virtually instantaneous. It would be good if we could define a nostr app to open when notification is clicked on, but I totally understand that this is an early alpha release so it's a rough framework right now. Really great work!
Installed and running! No, I'm just gonna sit back and wait for the notifications to come pouring in!
I've been playing with @nprofile…trej and it's a really cool messaging app. Unlike some other nostr messengers, Keychat isn't yet another nostr client with messaging capabilities. It's a purpose-built, dedicated, private messaging app built on the Signal protocol, and nostr to provide a seamless, secure messaging experience. It also has integrated Cashu (eCash) for sending and receiving sats in-app. I highly recommend downloading it and giving it a try!
I installed Keychat but I don't know anyone else with it so I have nobody to Keychat with.
I can't imagine running more than a half a block without dying.
That sounds interesting. I used to play some role playing games. I was much more into gaming when I was a kid playing NES, Sega, and Turbo Grafx 16. At some point I just couldn't keep up with all the different consoles and games, and I sorta put it all away.
Two Dots is just a silly time waster. You get a screen that's a grid made up of various color dots and you have to make little squares to eliminate them and eventually clear the screen. It's pretty mindless, but it's got catchy music that keeps you engaged.
I don't play much I only play this one game called https://idlescape.com it's a marketplace type where you progress your character get items & craft them then sell it on the marketplace to other people. I'm addicted to trading & cooking food on there. I know of GTA & never heard of Two Dots.
Sorry, no. I'm not a gamer. I play GTA every now and then, and I've got a game called Two Dots on my phone that I break out in times of extreme boredom, but that's the extent of my gaming.
Yea I guess nothing exciting will happen today it's been dull here. Do you know of any idle games with a trademarket place?
I'm just watching some crap on Amazon Prime. It's an unusually uneventful evening.
Just hanging around not much looking at the new dragon ball daima
What's everybody up to this evening? Anything exciting going on?
NIP-04 is a red-headed stepchild.
At the very least, we should bring back slapping people with gloves.
Can you explain how you were able to go from 5000 flux to 20k flux after spending only 3000 sats?
yeah, i went from tail to head 😆
We're now 100 blocks into Epoch 6 (epoch progress ~ 10%). It's definitely still possible to catch the leader and win! All players get sats 😊
Here's the current leaderboard:
Rank Name (HR) Blocks (Payout)
1 @npub1s48…rzv8 (20,000) 22 (11,730 sats)
2 @npub1jfp…mhz8 (40) 19 (1,905 sats)
3 @npub1vkg…q4uq (7,316) 17 (1,704 sats)
4 @npub1ym4…4ar4 (1,320) 12 (1,203 sats)
5 @npub1zeh…8tgg (5,260) 8 (802 sats)
6 @npub1utx…50e8 (120) 5 (501 sats)

It's in a few places. I keep a master record in my password manager (Bitwarden), and I use Amber, and Nos2x in my browser.
Yeah, I'm using Amethyst and can see the vote.
By the way, the vote is visible in #Amethyst. Not sure about other apps!
Yeah, there needs to be a balance. But as @nprofile…w3yc argued, @nprofile…t406 gets massive donations compared to what we can provide. So in the bootstrapping (player base building) stage of Minestr, it might be better to incentivise players as much as possible now so that we can pay OpenSats more later?
If it's a choice between yes and no, I say yes. But I don't think it's necessary to completely cut out the OpenSats donation. I think pretty much everyone who's gonna play is supportive of OpenSats and the essential work they do to fund new and exciting projects. That's why I was saying an 80/20, or even a 70/30 split would be ideal. It provides a meaningful donation to OpenSats while preserving enough of the total pot to make the game exciting. That's my two sats.
Doing a 50/50 pot isn't ideal. Considering that people have to spend real money throughout the game to be competitive, I think it makes sense, and will attract more regular players if you have an 80/20 payout with 20% going to the house, and 80% being awarded to players. This will create more incentive, and a more dynamic game because more of each player's expenses will be returned through prizes.
You're an expert already! 😁 Please let me know if you have any feedback while playing 🙏
Oh there's definitely strategy involved. You gotta look at all your options and make the most cost-effective purchase decisions. It's all about maximizing your flux for the lowest cost.
I just went beast mode on the daily quiz, earning enough gSats to upgrade to a Fox Miner. I like this game 😁
Thanks for playing! There is probably also some strategy involved 😉 Taking the quiz each day to earn gSats, and deciding when and how to upgrade 😎
My inner gambler has compelled me to join the game.

Nope. It's been working just fine for me. I have it linked with Nostr Wallet Connect so the zap happens entirely within Amethyst, and it hasn't failed me yet.
Graham Hancock is a joke. He's the archeology version of that Ancient Aliens guy with the crazy hair. Actually, I think both shows were produced by the same company. It's mindless fodder for conspiracy theorists. Lots of big, bold claims, and outrageous conjecture masquerading as fact.
What an unbelievably arrogant shit-bag. This dude could singlehandedly end world poverty, and he's sitting here, driven by his bizarre procreation fetish, telling people who are struggling to forget about financial concerns and just start having children they have no idea how to afford. Because it'll all just work out. That's easy for him to say. He has more money than anyone, and has yet to be a parent to any of his 11 children. Seriously, fuck this guy.

I'm all for a variety of options. Not everyone is able or interested in running their own lightning node, especially if zaps are the only thing they're using it for. It sounds like a nice all-in-one solution for casual users that doesn't require a big financial or experiential commitment. It makes sats more accessible to a larger audience.
It sounds like it might be good for casual users with small amounts of sats. It's an easy, low-cost way to use lightning without any of the complexities or expenses involved with running your own lightning node. I can see where it has its place in the greater community, but not much value if you already run your own node and manage your own bitcoin.
My best friend growing up was an ENTJ. Probably why we meshed so well.
find an entj to sidekick if you want more sats
A world in which I have a vastly more sats in my wallet
what have you been envisioning lately dreamer?
What's the deal with these mints? What features do they offer? How is it different from running your own LND?
Fuck this, I'm going to Wendy's. https://file.nostrmedia.com/f/65912a7ad17fd5cf3bacce9759f3bea3a44f9a3397340e559cf067945dc638bf/13912466dd20d4e753a06a539f2d4b8ffa2a82589509721d38362ff0e795bfe3.jpg
The 10.5k sats is just the subscription fee for Alby Cloud. If you run your own LND node you can link it with Alby Hub for free. The fee is basically for having Alby host your node.
That is a handsome t-shirt.
Thanks for Rick Rolling me. I'm logging off now.
Finally! This is the app we've all been waiting for! Now I can learn to do push-ups from the experts!
I love the collaborative nature of nostr. We're all looking out for each other, and the greater userbase.
There are vastly more legit transactions each day than illegal ones. Consider our zaps. That's a regular, legitimate use of bitcoin that thousands of people use every day. I bet zaps alone outnumber all the illegal transactions that take place every day. The Fed has a vested interest in slamming crypto, so they're not a reputable source on the topic.
It is food. It's not good food, and it's got a ton of additives that you can do without, but it meets the definition of food. Food science IS complex, and Billy Joe from the trailer park doesn't have the knowledge or intellectual basis to come to reliably come to a factually correct conclusion on the subject. That goes for any subject that requires specific knowledge. People like to think they're equipped to instinctively understand, and arrive at the right answer on pretty much every topic, but that's just self-deception and overestimating one's intelligence and knowledge. Becoming competent requires study and experience.
It's not "complex". Do we really need research to know that fruit loops isn't food?
Is there a sign-up sheet for these Whale Zaps?
I don't necessarily disagree, but it's a fact that people, in general, are not good at performing accurate research that leads them to the right answer. They are too often guided by their personal biases, and what they've heard from others they trust. When it comes to complex matters on subjects they not have appropriate expertise in, they will almost always arrive at the wrong answer, and cling to it because it was based in emotion, and not objective fact.
I removed myself from the Facebook ecosystem entirely back in 2013 and it's a decision I've never once regretted. Something to consider.
We really don't have any great choices this time around. It's a bit discouraging.
I think Gemstone is a good app name. I'd use a push app called Gemstone.
Professional sandwich eaters go with square. Diagonal looks nicer, but square gives you a more consistent mouthful with every bite.
I don't get it. If I can easily keep my bitcoin in my own wallet that I control, why would I transfer custody of my holdings to some 3rd party? What value is there in doing that? While I'm not the smartest person, nor do I have millions of dollars in bitcoin, it just doesn't sound like an attractive option.
Bingo! It worked! Amazing! Going forward, I think a lot more people would have success if there was some documentation, or maybe a simple "How To" guide available. Because Amber is awesome once you get it running, and I think a lot of people would prefer to keep their keys locked up in a dedicated signer if they knew they had the option.
Lol I was wondering about that. OK, let's try again!
Ditto also need the use secret option enabled. I forgot about this
Still no good. Same neverending spinning progress wheel, and no apparent attempt to trigger Amber. I made wss://ditto.pub/relay the only saved relay for that app connection.
Doh! OK, I'll try that now and report back.
Oh, for ditto you need to use ditto.pub/relay
For other clients you can use the nsec.app
You will have medium and like it!
Ok, so I've set nsec.app to be the only configured relay. I've ensured I'm setup for direct connection in notifications. The app has network permissions. I've disabled tor. And I've exempted Amber from my system DNS blocker so it has a straight connection to the network. I've created an app connection for Ditto, saved it, copied the bunker url, and tried to use it to login on the Ditto login page where it asks for the bunker url. Still no luck. I just get a perpetually spinning progress wheel and no apparent effort to trigger Amber.
Also, it rejects my Citrine relay when I try to add it. It tries, but gives a, "Failed to send event to relay" error.
I should mention that Amber does work with Amethyst, but that's the only app I've had success with.
If you have any other ideas, please let me know and I'll try. I'm the meantime, I'll just use my browser keystore to access Ditto. Thanks for all you do. I appreciate your work, and the time you've spent debugging and I'm happy to be a guinea pig to help you iron out the kinks!
Also check if you enabled network permissions
Using relay.nsec.app should work, you could try using citrine too
It does matter because if you use a paid relay or a relay with auth it will not work since the client generates a new pubkey when you try to login and that pubkey will not be allowed in the relay
Yes, you have to create a new app first
And does it matter which relays I have configured for the app connection in Amber? It won't let me plug in any of my home relays because they're paid, so I'm just using diggoo and nsec.app.
Ok, so you're configured for direct connection, and you've got the persistent Amber notification. I'm setup the same way. Do you create the new app connection in Amber before using the bunker url?
Actually that's not right. I just checked and I'm configured for direct connection.
Are you using direct connection or the push notification server?
I'm convinced that the nsecbunker in Amber doesn't actually do anything. I've never been able to successfully use it to connect to an app. The only bunker I've ever gotten to work is the web-based nsec.app bunker, and even that only works sometimes.
I despise these automated tip prompts that are showing up everywhere. Tips are for tipped-wage workers who rely on tips to earn their living (wait staff, valet, etc). If you're earning a wage of $15+/hr, you don't get tips. I think these "tips everywhere" screens are pissing people off leading to fewer tips for the people who actually rely on them.
It would be cool to have an algo relay that's defined by user-selected parameters so that each user can define their own personal algorithm. Maybe a user wants more notes from people they follow. Maybe they want more notes from people who follow them. Maybe they want to see a chronological feed, or a feed organized by some other method. I imagine there are all sorts of variables that could be used to define and weight the feed. Power to the people!
Vitor is going to to have to make some special relay config category for algo relays, with a little checkbox that turns it on and deactivates all other relays when checked. That way we have an easy way of flipping between the algo relay (and other future algo relays) and our traditional relay set.
Say what you will about the tenets of National Socialism, at least it's an ethos.
Imagine if math was money, and to get more money you had to solve eye-watering math problems.
Does anyone else get sad when you've got everything setup and have nothing left to configure? Is there a name for that particular brand of ennui?
Hey @nprofile…qss4! Can you give this guy a hand? He's been struggling to get his self-hosted Alby Hub account going, and could really use your help. Help a brother out!
I'm sure you're on the edge of your seat, I have reached out to support. Hopefully they can do something for me.
You've got me there! I was hoping I had it handled, but now i'm only at 211,475 sats in the channel, it's recommending 40,000 more. I suppose i better see what they can do. If anything, this whole debacle has gotten me to do something with the stuff I had fermenting on AVAX.
But... That's why they have a support department. Like, you are the exact person they had in mind when they decided to provide support services. I think it's worth an email. There isn't some more worthy customer out there who you will be depriving of support by asking for assistance.
No, I'm too nonconfrontational. can't waste their time with my small problem and instead have thrown it out into the cosmos where you picked it up haha. Instead, I've just scraped up all of the crypto I have sitting around in various coins, converted to btc, and hopefully I can afford the rest of what I need for the hole I already dug.
Have you contacted support? They seem to be pretty eager and willing to help new users get things running.
This is so true... https://files.sovbit.host/media/65912a7ad17fd5cf3bacce9759f3bea3a44f9a3397340e559cf067945dc638bf/4713f575633e57bdd32ce10ac36725f4f721d670f1cd69484159477c8ed8204c.webp
I decided to cheap out on alby cloud and am running alby hub locally, which is probably where I went wrong. I'm definitely in over my head.
thank you for interacting and helping me out with the info!
Apparently you're part of the cult. 🤣 Good luck with that.
Aside from the fee to open the channel, which is usually under 10k sats, the money you put into the channel remains yours. It'll be available to you when the channel gets 3 confirmations and is open. I went through the process a little under a month ago and it cost me like 7500 sats to open the channel and the 200k I sent as my initial deposit was fully available to me as soon as I got the 3 confirmations. That's in addition to the 10.5k Alby Cloud subscription fee (if you're using Alby Cloud). So, my total expense to get everything going was 18k.
I clicked "Open channel" in albyhub, then open first channel. I didn't already have a lightning wallet to pay the invoice qr, so i clicked the option for "Open channel with onchain bitcoin". so now I have 51000 sats in savings, but i need at least 250k to do it with this method I believe, and I'm not sure Icould recieve those sats back from the savings, it seems like they're locked up till I can finish this method of starting a channel.
This is retarded.
Are you retarded?
Yeah, but Trump supporters specifically worship Trump. It's a fucking personality cult no different from Jim Jones and the People's Temple. Watch some interviews of Trump supporters.
Turns out Trump's McDonald's stunt was just that... A stunt. They bought out the McDonald's for the day and staged the entire thing, including car drive-thru rehearsals to capture the perfect photos. Like everything having to do with Trump, it was all a sham. https://files.sovbit.host/media/65912a7ad17fd5cf3bacce9759f3bea3a44f9a3397340e559cf067945dc638bf/73cfa9afd6c8f3dd0e02f24d7b15833907800d0225868dbcffddc5884d01bfef.webp

If you weren't talking about nostr, if you were talking about any other common-protocol-based network, would you think having one independent client act as error-correction for other clients is a reasonable strategy? I don't think so. It's not the job of one client to mitigate the incompetence of another.
This reeks of desperation. Next he'll be manning a MAGA gloryhole. Or, ya know, he could just run a normal, competent campaign.
Murder aside, I think the information could be used in conjunction with other metadata and sources as the basis of an exploitation. I just think it's preferable to give users the option to decide for themselves whether or not their IP is exposed.
💯
I’ve never used the above emoji with as much enthusiasm as I do now 😁
It would be absolutely epic if @npub1key…lt3h was just 100% funded by anon plebs. 🍻
I’m just hearing free drinks 😂
You just described hyperpubkeyization!
Yes, this is basically the idea. The main issues are that we need to build a dedicated screen at the bar, and find space for it (not easy!), and the bar staff needs to be aware of the protocol. There also has to be a way to either limit this to operating hours, otherwise we need to inform the sender that zapping at a time when we aren’t open means it goes onto the next day’s business.
So you can see we’ve been thinking about and it’s not as easy as it sounds. There are also costs involved to build it. If it doesn’t get a lot of regular usage, chances are it would be scrapped.
I did not know that. The last Apple product I used was an Apple IIgs back in the late 80s. Is there another tor engine for iOS that's more popular than Orbot?
Orbot is also available on iOS, but it’s clunky
Your personal experience doesn't define the greater reality. Pretending mostly conservative people aren't engaging in anti-lgbt hate and discrimination on a daily basis is just one more way to disregard and minimize the lived experiences of lgbt people. It's a gaslighting revictimization.
Custodial makes perfect sense as it means someone other than you maintains custody of your holdings. Self-custodial, on the other hand, is clunky and is a weird way to describe something you have control over. That's the term that needs to change.
LOL, the Mossad ain’t got time for that.
Yeah, and when one finally does go off, you've probably just eliminated some neckbeard and his mom.
I don't agree with assessment. ProtonVPN is probably the second best VPN provider after Mullvad. I have not seen a rational, fact-based argument against using them.
Turning cold storage devices into bombs is a very slow way to assassinate HODLers who only plug them in once every few months at most.
Maybe. But unless we all decide to takeover Israel, I think we'll be safe from Mossad.
You never know one day Bitcoiners could be labeled terrorists as fiat around the world start falling over like dominos
https://i.nostr.build/w1dEgfR9RXF1EjCI.gif
We should definitely be aware of the possibility of supply chain attacks, though.
Techy bitcoiners would be an odd target for the IDF.
Ledger sucks, but I don’t see exploding Ledgers taking out the next wave of the Hezbollah command. 😉
(I know that’s not exactly what you meant, but it’s a funny thought.)
Yea its a stretch. Plenty of other reasons not to buy a Ledger anyway.
Maybe it would be a good idea to integrate tor into Damus the way Vitor did with Amethyst? I understand Orbot is an Android-only app, but perhaps there's an iOS equivalent? Or maybe include an integrated tor engine?
This is literally exactly how I envision Nostr meet-ups.
One of the nice things about sending gift-wrapped DMs is not seeing the details of your conversation publicly reported by the goddammed DM reporter bot.
Lots of things are made in Hungary. I'm not sure there's any basis for drawing a connection between exploding pagers and this hardware wallet just because they both originated Hungary.
I think if you had a dedicated screen in the bar that put up the zapper's profile and maybe some celebratory animations whenever they zapped a round of drinks, and maybe figured some way for patrons to easily follow the zapper, it could be a cool reciprocal incentive. They zap a round of drinks and are celebrated for 30min, and potentially gain a bunch of new followers. Win Win.
My Amethyst notifications started working again with this update! I had almost forgotten that Amethyst was supposed to be notifying me. And my first notification was a Zap notification, so that was extra special!
I also got a lot of ODELL notes. Not that I don't like reading his stuff, but it was a bit ODELL-heavy.
I think @nprofile…deau is interested in making Amethyst work with the relay, so maybe that can be your next test environment.
Clients will definitely need to provide some kind of view for just single relays like this, then different relays will have different algorithms you can toggle between
Thanks for you feedback, glad you liked it better
Ok, so the relay is definitely generating a much higher quality feed than the typical experience. Notes returned were mostly from accounts I'm associated with, but there were some accounts I'm unfamiliar with who made the cut. I'm assuming they're "friends of friends".
Almost without exception, the note quality was high. No mediocre 2-sentence posts, none of the typical "Bitcoin is the way" ra ra cheerleading. These are informative and interesting posts that I actually want to read from people I enjoy hearing from, or newcomers I want to follow. The mixed chronology is a bit confusing at first, but it's not a detriment to the experience.
I am confused about how well this relay will play with others on a variety of clients. I imagine that the benefits of the algorithm relay will be ruined, or at least diminished when a feed is made up of a blend of relays, or by the client's own meddling.
Overall, a really nice experience in this demo environment. It's just the concerns I mentioned about interoperability with other relays and clients I'm unsure of.
It's no longer working for me. It worked yesterday, but today it's not returning any notes.
We're gonna need a bigger boat.
SimpleX has desktop support, and video calling.
SimpleX without a doubt. The others don't come close to SimpleX's privacy-centric design. And SimpleX just had an independent security protocol audit by Trail of Bits. The others simply do not compare.
I think strategically choosing relays is a smart play in this situation. If you pick two popular global relays, like damus.io and purplerelay.com, and then choose 2 or 3 mid-level relays, like diggoo and nos.lol, you'll have access to virtually all of nostr without needing a dozen other relays. And most of the traffic they generate is duplicates of what was found on the big relays, so it's a waste. Give it a try for a few days and see how it works out.
This version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" by Israel Kamakawiwoʻole is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. It makes me simultaneously incredibly joyful, and soul crushingly sad. What a wonderful world.

Hmm right, but centralising my data feed and risk to miss some data I guess at least during mobile usage?
Maybe there could be a low and high bandwidth setting for when no WiFi available
Just remove your other search relays so that only your Citrine relay is configured for search. Then, your searches will be limited to your Citrine relay. You can put the other search relays back when you're done.
But that searches all of Nostr. It's doesn't specifically search my profile.
I thought you meant i could specifically search my profile's notes.
With his every decision, Elon is sending Twitter deeper and deeper into the depths of digital hell. Interesting that the only Elon company that Elon actually manages is an absurd financial loser that's getting worse by the day.
Conspiracy thinking hooks the brain because it feels like critical thinking, even though it isn't.

They couldn't conceive of clean water back then. But they did understand that they didn't die after drinking booze. Plus, it was fun so two birds with one stone.
Did Jesus turn dirty water into clean water? No. He turned it into wine, at a wedding… like 600+ liters of wine…
It’s clear JC was trying to party.
Alcohol was good back then because if you drank the water you died from Dysentery (see Oregon Trail).
The manufacturer of Trump's $100k "Swiss" watches was traced to a Wyoming strip-mall, and is strangely incorporated under a virtually identical name as a "male-enhancement honey" company located in that same strip-mall.
So, the company that makes Trump's watches (and only came into existence a few weeks before their launch) is run by someone who's also peddling boner honey that the FDA has warned against consuming. How classy.
https://newrepublic.com/post/187289/trumps-swiss-watches-traced-derelict-wyoming-strip-mall
Reduce your number of relays. If you do it right, you don't need a zillion relays. 1-3 inbox/outbox, 1-2 DM Inbox, 2 search, 1 private home, and 3-4 general. This will significantly reduce your data useage.
That's really cool! As soon as I logged in, it returned notes from my follows and interactions. I can't wait to see how this evolves over time.
Once you set it as a search relay, you just use your client's built-in search (the way you'd search for anything in the client 🔍) and it will use your Citrine relay along with any other search relays you have set.
I set it as my search relay. How do I search my notes? I don't see any option in it.
If you're using Amethyst, you set Citrine as your local relay and it will save a local copy of all your notes and replies. Set it as your private home relay and it will save your drafts and app settings. Set it as a search relay and you'll be able to search all your saved content. It's an invaluable tool that every Android user should run.
And Hamas' plan is to exterminate the Israelis and take over Israel. How can you not see that Hamas and Likud are two sides of the same fucked up coin?
Israel's plan is to conquer all the territory around it, if you don't see that it's not my problem.
How the fuck is this "western Jewish propaganda"? I'm putting the blame where it belongs, with the two fanatical organizations that are responsible. The civilians on both sides are the victims of their extremist violence and quest for domination. I think your desire to hate Jews has blinded you to the reality of what's happening.
Western Jewish propaganda has no effect on me. Don't try it.
I don't think you have to devalue loss on one side to care about loss on the other. The losses on both sides are horrific. Both Hamas and Likud should be sent straight to hell for what they've done to the innocent people they've slaughtered.
75% of the revenue, not the profit. That means 75% of all the money people spend on his shitcoin goes straight into his pocket. If someone buys $100 worth of Trump coin, only $25 actually goes towards the purchase value of the tokens. It's not possible for this to be any bigger of a scam. Like Trump Casino, and Trump Steaks, and Trump University, Trump is the only one who will walk away with any money.

What nostr client are you using?
Does anyone have a guide or suggestions on which kinds I should configure my Citrine relay to accept?

I don't what objective health benefits there are, but it feels good to walk barefoot through grass.
Really? Because you keep replying. And I didn't accuse you of anything. My comments are entirely about the position you're representing. Claiming otherwise is dishonest. Let's just agree to disagree on this.
I don’t feel I need to address you accusing me of things I didn’t say.
Whatever. In all your underhanded pettiness, you haven't addressed anything I've said. Responding with a different opinion isn't being triggered. But saying that is a convenient way deflect and tarnish the messenger. Classy.
So triggered over nothing.

I don't care about the substance of your position. I've got kids of my own. It's the notion that your way is the only way, and that those who go a different route are somehow wrong or unfulfilled. It's an arrogant, narrow-minded notion.
Very odd to me that you would get triggered about someone saying “Get married and have children” the most normal thing in human history.
I thought this too until I got married and had a kid
It's arrogant AF to insist that one's own way is the only way, and that everyone should conform to that way. People are different. What's best for you isn't automatically best for everyone else. This sort of narrow-minded, absolutist thinking is at the heart of every totalitarian nightmare.
Richochet is an experimental, peer-to-peer messenger based on tor. It says it provides anonymity, but it's based on user identity like virtually every other messenger. It's closer to Tox than SimpleX.
SimpleX is a robust communications protocol that completely eliminates the concept of user identities. It's also server-based, so it avoids the inherent shortcomings of p2p systems, mostly related to persistence and reliability. SimpleX works with tor and has several tor integration points, but tor isn't required. It includes an integrated 2-hop onion routing protocol known as private routing. On its own, or in conjunction with tor, private routing protects the IP and session metadata of messaging connections. SimpleX encryption is quantum-resistant, based on the Signal double-ratchet protocol. I'm unsure of what richochet is using for encryption, but the differences between the two are significant.
What is the big diference of simpleX to ricochet?
I used nearly a terabyte of mobile data last month. I got Verizon's unlimited data plan, so I use it as my main internet provider. It's cheaper than having a seperate internet bill.
It looks really good. Beautiful design!
It's irresponsible and reckless.
Alarming but predictable. Wired is not what it once was.
I have that ability using the keyboard. I'm not sure if all keyboards provide this function, but some do have a clipboard feature that allows you to select any of your copies.
You can link it to your Alby Hub, too!
It’s alarming to see Wired not only criticize SimpleX for its strong privacy protections, but also subtly blame the European Court of Human Rights for upholding basic human rights by rejecting laws that would force encrypted apps to scan and hand over private messages before encryption.

Why would anyone willingly buy into yet another Trump scam?
Anyone who buys into this bullshit is a fucking moron. That's the nicest way to put it. If you expect to profit off a man whose entire existence is based on defrauding others and declaring bankruptcy, you deserve to be scammed. Because that's exactly what this is; a scam.

Well don't just stand there! Lol
As long as they don't yell at me in me middle if the sidewalk, I am happy. Gotta have low expectations 😅
I assure you, we come in all shapes and sizes!
What do you think New Yorkers look like?
Assuming you're referring to the FBI's investigation of Trump re: classified documents, framing that as an attempt to disqualify him from the presidency is an absurd mischaracterization. Section 2071, which stipulates that the offender “shall forfeit his office and be disqualified from holding any office under the United States.” cannot be a basis for disqualification since the Constitution’s qualifications for president can’t be superseded by a statue. That claim is a thoughtless bit of propaganda targeted at the unthinking MAGA cult.
Putting aside the clear legitimacy of the investigation, it cannot be seen as a real effort to disqualify since no such disqualification mechanism exists. Also, the investigation has certainly helped Trump more than it has hurt him. It has put him front-and-center again. It has made it easy for him to portray himself as an embattled victim. It has caused nearly everyone in the GOP to embrace him and for some to call for his swift and decisive nomination as the party’s presidential candidate again.
As for the assassination attempts, that's just a mischaracterization. The first kid was a registered Republican who happened to have donated like $15 to a single Democratic candidate years ago, but he was a staunch conservative whose activity on social networking reflected an antisemitic, anti-immigrant, extremist ideology, and espoused political violence. Characterizing him as a Democrat by way of calling him a Democratic donator is misleading as it doesn't tell the whole story. You left out the rest which would have been inconvenient to your narrative.
Thr second guy was a Trump voter in 2016, a gun afficionado, and by all accounts, a deranged lunatic. He also previously supported Bernie Sanders, Nikki Haley, and Vivek Ramaswamy. His political views were all over the map. So you see, the full picture doesn't exactly match your characterization. Furthermore, it doesn't appear that political idealogy was the motivating factor behind either attempt. The common denominators were an intense dislike of Trump, access to weapons, and mental instability. Neither of these incidents were the fault of either political party, or any particular ideal.
What is "fabricated nonsense" about this? Please do explain:
"The Biden Admin has employed the FBI to try and disqualify a presidential candidate.
A democratic voter and donator attempted to assassinate Trump. Two other possible assassination attempts thwarted."
Both sides are totalitarian and that's all I've stated with facts. But, I'd like to see how they're apparently nonsense for one side and not the other.
I feel weird now because I only have one nostr profile. Am I the only one? I'm not even sure what I'd do with another profile.
As soon as you allow yourself to believe you are immune to the powers of persuasion and propaganda, you make yourself more open to their effects. As human beings, we are inherently subject to these tactics, and none of us are immune. Vigilance, and the constant application of critical thinking are essential to minimize the impact, and that includes honestly acknowledging our susceptibility.
I have no team other than the republic. And I have the experience and education to know bullshit from objective fact. What this Republican candidate, and the party that has abandoned their values and allowed themselves to be captured by a psychopathic, megalomaniac have planned is unlike anything in American history, with the possible exception of the America First movement of the 1930s. There is just no comparing that to the basic bullshit on the other side. Just because both sides generally suck, and bad things happen on both sides doesn't mean they are equal or equivalent in their significance, or in the threat they pose to the nation. What's happening on the right is terrifyingly unique, and unmatched by anything the other side is doing, or would do if elected. These two things are not the same.
I don't subscribe to either political ideology and am therefore immune from their groupthink logic.
I don't ignore the bullshit on either side, for the sake of one being "my team".
Lol I think you've been taken in by MAGA media. You're repeating fabricated nonsense.
The Biden Admin has employed the FBI to try and disqualify a presidential candidate.
A democratic voter and donator attempted to assassinate Trump. Two other possible assassination attempts thwarted.
It's just as bad... if not worse atm. To be seen from MAGAts.
There's nothing remotely like this on the other side. I don't think there's any value in pretending that the imperfections and disappoints that are typical with American politics, and embodied by the current Democratic agenda, are the same thing as what's happening on the Republican side with their candidate and agenda. The "both sides" narrative simply does not wash.
Sadly, it seems to be the case from both sides 😔
He wants to use the military to oppress his political opponents, and American citizens who oppose him. This is the shit you see in tin-pot, authoritarian regimes. This man will unquestionably lead us down a road to fascism if he's elected. He will have no restraints, and a staff of loyalists who will support his every unhinged whim.
Well, there's no direct evidence for that, but there's certainly a boatload of suggestive evidence that supports that idea. Just as there's no direct evidence of your belief that the two assassination attempts were manufactured, but some suggestive evidence that supports that idea. You can't pick and choose when you want evidence.
I haven’t seen any evidence for this claim.
I think he believes that he has to purchase 250k sats, which would be about $165. It sounds like a misunderstanding of how it works.
You just called me a shill because you didn't agree with what I shared. I have no interest in arguing. I was just responding to the topic. Have a nice day.
Nasty, Personal attacks? Ok, I'll bite. Why are you saying that when I've never said anything personal about you?
Are you deflecting? Are you unable to name any governments that aren't corrupt so you've changed the subject and accused me of personally attacking you?
I guess you can't really say that nuclear power isn't funded by corrupt governments across the planet, so, deflect.
But really, I seriously am curious which government on this planet can be trusted to do an honest job of building a nuclear power plant?
I really do want anyone to answer that question. Come on all you nuclear shills. Name the honest government the world could trust with nuclear power!!!
You can't. Because like unicorn shit and man loving lesbians, honest governments that can be trusted with nuclear power don't exist.
It's not the nuclear technology that's the problem. It's having to trust governments to run them, that's the problem. Tell me how to fix the problem of corrupt governments and I'll support nuclear power. Nuclear power will never be economically viable because there's too much profit to be made from government corruption.
And, why do all you conspiracy nuts trust governments with nuclear power, but nothing else?
I mean, I can understand if you're an unemployed bum, or a billionaire that doesn't pay taxes, but, us taxpayers don't want our money wasted on nuclear bullshit. Get back to me when you've fixed the corruption problem and I'll have another look at your figures.
Until then, nuclear power is not economically viable.
Come on.... There's no reason to be nasty and engage in personal attacks just because you disagree on an issue. I shared factual information. I'm sorry that it conflicts with your beliefs but that doesn't mean it's wrong, and it doesn't mean I'm a shill. This is no way to conduct yourself.
Yes well, any website you link can be counted by linking to government websites where they have to subsidize nuclear power to the tune of billions of dollars that could be better spent on cheaper alternatives.
The reason why private companies are not investing their own money building nuclear power is because it's not economically viable.
The reason why there are companies milking billions of taxpayers money building nuclear power stations that will never be economically viable is because governments are corrupt. And companies are getting rich. And we working class suckers pay for this corruption.
Anyone can make a bullshit website with all sorts of outrageous claims. The only truth, is the billions of waisted taxpayers money on a corrupt industry by corrupt governments building nuclear power plants.
As I said before, if they really were profitable, private equity would be building them rather than taxpayers.
Unless you're going to argue that governments subsidizing nuclear power construction aren't corrupt, but are in fact honest decent people working for the betterment of us all. Because that's what you're saying when you support nuclear power.
Simply put, nuclear power is a scam.
And, as with all scams, there's plenty of shills.
Stop being a shill for a corrupt system.
Nuclear is one of the safest, cleanest, least environmentally burdensome and — ultimately, over the lifetime of a nuclear power plant — one of the cheapest sources of energy available.
https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2024/01/nuclear-energy-transistion-climate-change/
Maybe. Depends on the altitude of collision and how long they were able to stay up before hitting the ground.
250 miles is a huge area to cover if collided, no?
I'm a Roswell believer. And it wasn't just the one crash site. There was another about 250 miles northwest at the Plains of San Augustin. It's been speculated that two craft collided and went down in two areas.
Actually, it looks like this last one was just an exuberant Trump supporter who had no plans on attacking Trump. At least, that's what's being reported and what his friend said.
You still hating on UFOs? Lol
I think he's a Russian asset.
I use Obtainium to pull directly from the Aqua repo.
I've been advocating for Unified Push, but the lead dev wants to build his own solution. He's concerned about metadata leaks inherent in Unified Push, and so he's hesitant to employ it. In the meantime, we wait...
This is really cool. Lucid dreaming is a skill that can be taught, and facilitating communication between dreamers opens the door to amazing possibilities. This is an exciting topic to watch.

Great.
SimpleX needs a notification push system, so we can answer calls.
If you follow cool people and just block the uncool, you'll have a good experience. There are always haters, but you define your experience here, not some algorithm. It'll take a little bit to get used to, but it's worth the effort. There's a great community, and many more good people than bad.
No seriously I was expecting the worst by joining here. « Free speech » is screaming 🚩🚩🚩 but I wanted to see how it was anyway. And there is people that seems nice so that’s cool! And for sure I’ll block when I won’t be in the state of reading this. Reports are basically ignored for these kind of things I imagine?
Don't even waste your time. Just block those people and move on.
That's an amazing hashtag 😂
Oh I missed that. Thank you for pointing it out!
The announcement post says it is HIPPA compliant https://image.nostr.build/ce82dad98a711d45ada3ba297fb9bc46e226f9c549d38191e1fc162fc0ad2ab6.jpg
Is there a plan to make this HIPPA complaint for use in the United States?

Dunno... If you can run LND on it you can probably get it to work with Alby Hub.
Is alby hub workin on raspberry pi 4 with 8gb?
Setting up Alby Hub is ridiculously easy. I just went through the process. And by "process" I mean one click. Setting up your Alby account (email and password) was more complicated than setting up the hub.
I think you should avoid the urge to turn Amethyst into an everything app. I've seen a lot of good projects go bad when they try to turn it into all things for all people. I think it would be better to focus on its core purpose. That's my two sats.
It's another exciting day at SimpleX Chat HQ! Stable release v6.1 was just posted this morning.
