I would never advocate for not voting but we also should recognize that voting is a low impact act although it is also low effort. Also, trust in the election integrity is very low so I would understand people not participating in a system they don’t trust. Then finally, at least in the US, the elections are unfair and only candidates that are dependent of the system of control are given a chance to be elected. So I don’t think there is a good case to shame the non-voters.

I’m not familiar on how the web of trust mechanism is being applied to #nostr relays. It seems like an interesting idea but my main concern would be to know by who and how the web of trust algorithm is determined. It seems it could ultimately act as a #censorship mechanism.
Obviously Nostr has to be able to handle spam attacks such as the #ReplyGuy but this shouldn’t be at the cost of losing its censorship resistant properties.
Another alternative worth exploring would be for each npub to prove that its owner isn’t a bot but a human through the use of #ProofOfPersonhood protocols such as #Idena, #Humanode or #Holonym. A PoP aggregator such as the #GitcoinPassport could also be an option.
Of course this would add some significant friction for users hence it’s preferable that an alternative method is found to handle spam. However, we should remain vigilant that the censorship resistant nature of Nostr remains unaffected. #note1vtu…97yu

Are you referring to #Idena specifically? If so, then the token emission is to rewards the validators of the network like for the block reward in #Bitcoin.
But not all #ProofOfPersonhood systems have their own blockchain. #GitcoinPassport is an aggregator of PoP protocols which some are built on top of #Ethereum. Gitcoin also has a token and yes, this one has no real utility but you don’t need it to validate your identity on the passport neither do you need to buy iDNA tokens to validate your identity Idena.

One option to stop the spammers would be to require #Nostr users to authenticate their npub with a #ProofOfPersonhood protocol to prove that they aren’t a bot. There are solutions such as #GitcoinPassport that aggregate various PoP systems to make it less inconvenient for users to prove that they are a unique human.

My take on some of the narratives that were being propagated during the #Covid19 #plandemic :
1) The fake mainstream narrative:
SarS-CoV-2 is a dangerous zoonotic virus that has no existing remedy so we all need to take an experimental #mRNA vaccine to save humanity.
2) The fake conspiratorial narrative:
Viruses don’t exist, people are getting sick because 5G towers.
3) The true authorized conspiratorial narrative:
SarS-CoV-2 is a virus conceived by gain-of-function research and intentionally released to push a tyrannical agenda and inject populations with experimental mRNA vaccines containing harmful spike proteins.
4) The true unauthorized conspiratorial narrative:
Self-assembling nanostructures tech from DARPA were contained in the #CovidVaccine either to harm humans and/or to test the effects of transhumanist technologies on a large scale.
1) is used to obstruct the truth to the majority of the population and get their compliance.
2) is used to discredit critical thinkers by labeling them as crazy conspiracy theorists.
3) is a limited hangout to contain and control conspiratorial narratives to what is authorized to be disclosed and to shell the elements of the conspiracy that must remain unknown from the general public.

Wow! A peer reviewed paper just demonstrated that the #Covid19 Pfizer and Moderna vaccines produce self-assembling nanostructures when injected in the human body. Although it was known that similar technologies existed, I couldn’t really figure out to which extent the narrative related to the presence of self-assembling nanostructures was true. It still believe that the harm caused by the spike proteins is real but it looks like there had been something even more nefarious going on.
This brings a lot of questions:
What is the purpose of these structures?
To which extent are they harmful to humans?
Was the Covid-19 operation a large scale experimentation to test new a new technology serving the transhumanist agenda?

Is there a non-custodian option that doesn’t require to run your own #Lightning node? I support people fighting for our freedoms in the EU parlement and we need to keep fighting wherever decisions can be influenced but there is no doubt for me that that the EU is undermining European democracies.
Although this is also an issue with the media, people have no clue what’s going on in the EU and who to turn to for accountability. The EU also removes arbitrage against nation states. The EU parlement doesn’t have a lot of power but if I understand correctly they could block this regulation. The way the Commission is selected is anti-democratic. Leaving the EU doesn’t magically fix things but staying in is being doomed to a slow death.

The number of nodes is not as important as the decentralization of the hashrate and the money supply. First, non-minning nodes can be sybil-attacked so it’s not technically possible to know how many unique node participants a network has. Both #Bitcoin and #Monero have a healthy number of nodes, multiplying these numbers wouldn’t add substantial value to the network. When it comes to the hashrate, it has been concentrating in the Bitcoin network which is a concerning trend. The barrier to entry is now so high that mostly nation-states like actors enter the market hence, the future decentralization of the hashpower relies on those actors competing with each others. Due to privacy features of Monero, it’s hard to know for sure how concentrated the Monero hashrate is (which can be an argument against Monero by itself) but at least participating in mining remains accessible to anyone. Regarding the money supply, it seems pretty obvious that Bitcoin is seeing greater concentration of the its money supply than Monero. This is especially true since the launch of the ETF or the growing use of intermediary hubs to transact or store bitcoins. Again, hard to tell how concentrated the Monero supply is, but its growing use as a P2P payment method and desintermediation from the banking system decreasing favor its decentralization.

I’m actually interested in understanding further the utility of the #NYM token. For what I remember from last research I’ve done on the project, the token is used to vote for the servers you want the traffic to be direct to. I think, it’s a fine concept but I’ve always been concerned by the large pre-mine supply distributed to the team and investors. Couldn’t those parties potentially collude and vote for servers that are dishonest? I like the concept of NYM but I feel the privacy assumptions of the service are dependent of how decentralized the token supply is and unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be very decentralized. How to waste a great idea and talents with poor tokenomics.

I understand this is a complexe topic and I’m not the best person to discuss this in depth but I understand that the avalanche consensus has some unique properties versus BFT consensus. Also, I agree about the risk of large stakers potentially colluding over time. I think that the future of #ProofOfStake blockchains will be to integrate a #ProofOfPersonhood element like #Idena for which one human = one node. This would enable quadratic staking distributions which decrease the share held by large stakers over time (the greater your stake, the smaller your APY).

One attribute that #Monero lacks to make it a perfect medium of exchange is fast finality. Although this isn’t so much a problem for online transactions, it is definitely an issue for in-person transactions. As far as I understand this can’t be solved unless Monero switch to #ProofOfStake or at least to an hybrid #ProofOfWork / POS like #Zano did. Another example of hybrid POW/POS is #eCash which is a fork of #BitcoinCash (by the founding #BCH team). By mixing the #Nakamoto consensus with the #Avalanche consensus, eCash can reach sub three seconds finality while guaranteeing a the integrity of the chain history without the need of a trusted third party. Considering the fair launch of #XMR, it seems very possible for the Monero #blockchain to implement POS to its consensus without risking the chain from being corrupted.
What do you guys think are the pros and cons as well as the feasibility of the such an upgrade? It was a hot topic at the past #Monerotopia. The decision for the Zano team to move to POW/POS was mainly motivated for security reasons but from my perspective a greater benefit for Monero would be a much improve user experience for in-person transactions. By the way I don’t know if that’s a factor, but Zano has been a great performer price wise.

1. The addresses that hold #BlackRock BTC ETF are not known, so yes, fractional reserves could be run in this case. By your argument we could say that centralized exchanges without proof of reserves necessarily have full #BTC reserves which makes no sense.
2. IMO, it’s a naive view to think that BlackRock couldn’t in any way subsidize the miners he has invested in. Investment is already a form of subsidy. You’re referring to Bernie who is an individual who ran a Ponzi scheme. This is a totally different scenario.
3. That’s your interpretation that because node operators signal for one side that is the reason why this side has kept the ownership of the #Bitcoin brand but in reality the side that get to keep the brand is determined by a social consensus that goes beyond node operators and include the entire ecosystem including exchanges and miners. Node majority isn’t a hard coded consensus rule, it is a social one. Also, node majority voting isn’t resistant to sybil attacks that BlackRock could attempt.
4. Go tell that to Bitcoin Cash folks on how not owning the Bitcoin brand had impacted the value of this side of the fork. The Bitcoin brand is the greatest asset to Bitcoin for its numbers to go up. The side that lose the brand will lose the network effect over time.

1. Can you prove that #BlackRock BTC ETF isn’t running fractional reserves?
2. BlackRock has deep pockets. It can afford to subsidize the miners it controls.
3. The majority hashrate is the main determinant in the outcome of a fork. Node operators can influence miners and so BlackRock can too.
4. BlackRock and its partners including exchanges, media and governments have enough firepower to attempt a steal on the #Bitcoin brand. There would be a fight between the institutions and the grassroot community for the Bitcoin brand. Exchanges/brokers are particularly important as they are in control on what they call Bitcoin on their platform.
This post is a prospective scenario, I’m not saying that this is happening or will happen but I don’t think you’ve demonstrated that it can’t happen. I actually, think that the most likely way Bitcoin will be controlled by the institutions won’t be by controlling the network but by making Bitcoin non competitive as a medium of exchange and by forcing KYC on-chain.

If I was #BlackRock trying to take over the control of #Bitcoin, I would:
1) Run the ETF on fractional reserves
2) so I can more easily crash the price
3) to bankrupt a significant amount of miners
4) so that my share of hashrate that I control is over 50% of the network
5) which I’d use to support a Proof-of-stake fork
6) that will be deemed the real Bitcoin by me and my partners (exchanges, media)
7) then I’d start replenishing my #BTC ETF to full reserves with bitcoins bought on the cheap so me and my partners own more than 50% of the staked BTC.

I’m not familiar with the political context in Sweden so I can’t address this point but yes, #Trump is demonized by the mockingbird media, I totally agree with this, however this contributes to the second layer of deception. People end up supporting Trump because he’s the victim of the mockingbird media and big tech but these relentless attacks aim to grow support for Trump. Why? Because contrary to what the propaganda says, Trump isn’t a free man. He’s a #DeepState asset. Again, Boris Johnson was victimized like Trump during the Brexit and as you said, he’s a globalist. Trump still has his cover even if some past supporters have grown wary of him.

The political landscape is certainly different in Europe where there are more than two parties so it’s not possible for the “deep state” to control all parties but certainly most of the historic main parties (left and right) are to some degree influenced by #DeepState assets. Also, most of the control is taking place within the EU institution which dictates policies to member states. Also, I’m not saying the grass roots conservatives are controlled but a lot of their figure heads are such as #Trump in the US or Boris Johnson in the UK which was at the time of the brexit called the “UK Trump” while it’s pretty admitted now that Johnson is part of the global elite. Trump is also part of the global elite and marching towards the same agenda that the democrat party. He’s just controlled opposition.

For instance, the EU recently authorized the used of insect-based flour in foods in substitution to plant-based flour and no labeling is required which makes it hard for consumers to avoid produces containing insect-based flours.
