btw, the stuff about the black sea rising up over bulgaria, the eastern region of the country is full of sandstone, there's even one place i saw while travelling on the train to Varna that they had cut the top off a whole giant mountain made out of it, and one of the biggest lime factories in europe is in a town called Devnya and the size of the cable cars and the train station where it was loaded on was epic, i mean, epic... the factory was pretty damn huge too, several really big smoke stacks for the giant furnaces and shit... probably a big part of what glued most of eastern europe's commieblocks came from this place (i'd guess russia has some good ones of its own)... but massive sandstone deposits are clearly from the sea, sand and fragments of shells and diatoms and other bony microorganisms, coral, etc, animals that absorb the calcium from the water and use it to build their skeletons and other things (all shells, etc)
because it was bulgaria, that indicates that the initial shift was towards bulgaria, the sea rose up over the regions around the caspian and then as it al piled up over that peninsula and across the other side it then sloshed back
so, based on that i'd say that when this event happened the direction of the shift was east-northeast at that time, as the sloshback is more violent and rather than just flowing up, the whole seabed of the black sea would have been washed up onto the land

Yesterday I took care of my boys practically whole day.
So, eggs and ground meat for breakfast, lunch and dinner (when they ask for burger, they mean just the meat, they have to specify they want also the bun).
Trip to small stronghold changed to museum with bronze pieces, some of them themed from The Little Prince, we have red recently, so perfect match.
Then, obviously, we had to find some ice cream.
We continued on playground and ended in bed talking about lot of stuff, including what animal eats what and etc.

IMO geological evidence is the best time marker, and nothing is more reliable than the aging of volcanic stone, and the timing of these events is much more reliable, and what gets trapped inside the volcanic material signifies a lot about the space weather conditions more reliably than the sediment of the flood caused by the pole shifts, and i am pretty sure that the catastrophe described around Babel and Sodom and Gomorrah were actually the minor event of 6000 years and the impactors that hit sodom and gomorrah were the results of the material solidifying from that super-flare and happened in the following 600 years or so
there was also an event 6000 years ago, the most strong evidence of it was found in china, near the Tianchi volcano (the magnetic realignment and volcanic activity), this is reliable dating, the mud is not, dating stone by its weathering is a far more reliable method than carbon 14
further, carbon 14 dating is shit also because it assumes a constant uniform amount of solar activity, but during the 6000 year events, the sun flares a lot more for a short period so this means that a lot more carbon 14 is thrown at us during that time, so it cannot be counted as a reliable method of dating
as for the dinosaurs being a product of this hybrid breeding GMO stuff you are speculating about, i don't think so, the period leading up to the pole shift of 12000 years ago was very warm, from about 10000 years ago after about 1200 years of cold, the "younger dryas", and these megafauna were simply able to exist because there was so much heat and the plants grew bigger and so were able to support much larger animals, and the "giants", or "nephilim" were human/angel hybrids who were obviously gonna need a lot of food and so this led to them destroying most of that stuff, and yeah, most of the dinosaurs, at least the ones walking on two legs, were actually ground fowl like the Cassowary and Ostrich, but imagine there was 1000x more plants and thus 1000x more smaller animals for them to eat

Raw hides take about 1 to 2 month to be transform into leather using the vegetable tanning method (the best). With that said I'm sure I would never have any difficulty to obtain simple blank hides with natural color and no finish. The problem arise when you start looking for finished hides.

Each tannery have their own technique to obtain their finish. Badalassi Carlo has this beautiful pueblo I use a lot. A very distinct look. But they have only one tannery to supply the entire world. There's many suppliers around the world that has stocks so if you really want a hide you can find one but your favorite supplier who can satisfy your thickness desire might often run out and the supply chain is not as fast as Amazon. I'm currently stuck waiting a month to get my hands on tabacco pueblo. But the REAL scarcity is found in shell cordovan.

Shell cordovan is a rare, high-end leather made from a small, dense layer of fibrous tissue found in the rump of a horse. My favorite one is the Japanese shinki-hikaku. The process take from 6 to 10 months. There is only a couple handful of hides available in any given color. They are very difficult to obtain reliably and are all sold individually. You buy a specific hide. There is an orange one at my main supplier. Only 1 left out of 3. I haven't found anywhere else I can get it. Maybe it's possible to get it elsewhere, but I haven't found it.

With AIs creating their models of the world primarily by reading text online, there's never been a more critical time to write than it is today.
This is an idea I've heard in a recent interview with Gwern and it's been reverberating in me ever since. Think about anything you care about, anything that's good or bad, anything of value to you. If it doesn't exist online, it basically doesn't exist at all for the AIs. That also means that your writings might be part of the training data of future AIs. By publishing your thoughts, you can become a tiny part of latent space tilting the self-reflection of the world in a direction you want to.
I get the sentiment.. but those are somewhat correlated. You are not actually broadcasting to the world if only a select few are using

I haven't experienced any downsides whatsoever by leaving all this behind and using Nostr as my one and only social media tool. On the contrary: with Nostr, I’m finally enjoying the internet again! One more year today.
I can take any system, and I can define the "set of all things" on that system. For example, I could consider my desk a system and define the set of all things on my desk. By making such a definition, do I change the system? No. The definition about the system doesn't affect the system.
Then I could name this set. I could take the country of China as a system and the set of all people in China and I could call that set the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Now, by defining such a thing into existance, does that have any real world effect on the ground? No. It's just an abstraction.
Of course the real CCP is not the set of all people in China.
My point is that the longer single-party rules goes on in China, the larger that party grows, the closer it resembles a zero-party system. Rather than political debate happening between parties with firm stances, political debate happens between different political camps that all reside inside of the party, and eventually the party itself is meaningless when it includes everybody.
I don't know if that will happen, but I have it on good authority that China is somewhere in between. Which makes it trickier to think about. There are 8 parties outside the CCP whose leaders are chosen by the CCP and whose roles are limited to making proposals to the CCP. This is scarcely different from being inside the CCP.
I think this is China's path out.

Nostrudel broke for me a while back when he changed how it works with relays. Now it always throws some warning at the top of the screen. I haven’t used it since. But I prefer native mobile apps anyway.

The middle class has grown a lot in China. I actually met two Chinese girls that were born there and came to the US. One of them is actually here for a Chinese business and the other is in school. Both said that the portrayal of China in the media is exaggerated but one of them did mention there is a lot of surveillance. But there’s a lot of surveillance in the US and Europe. It was interesting that they felt China is a lot safer though.

But somewhere along the line, that got turned into "95% made by AI" by the time it reached the Western ears. So definitely not "made", but seems to have helped quite a lot. The Next Big Idea in News Media
People hate the news. Because not only do they get some small facts wrong, explanations even more wrong, but the normative context and word choices belie a belief system that huge numbers of people disagree with.
News media tried to solve this problem by reporting "just the facts" without any contextualization, choosing the most neutral words they could. You might think that would be the perfect news that you would want to get your news from. But it is not. You will find it boring. The viewership numbers of that kind of thing plummet. It is far better to give the *wrong* context and infuriate you than to give no context.
Well, what if you could give a personalized context to everybody? With A.I. now we can. We can have "just the facts" neutral news fed into a personalized (or group personalized) A.I. which contextualizes the news for you making it interesting again without infuriating you, and IMHO people will *trust* this news far more than what they currently get.
What do you all think? Should we take this serious, fund it and set it afloat?

I don't understand why we don't make Nostr #privacy tech. The npun / nsec key pair is already the perfect identity system. Sign up or sign into anything without a name, email, phone number, or any PII of any kind. Yet can still guarantee identity. It's just downstream that needs work.

There are many good nostr apps. @nprofile…z7tc and @nprofile…39pt are my favorites. Highly recommend trying both if you haven’t.
If someone could make some nostr apps that used semantic web syntax and it’d get added to the spec. The thing is almost all nips are optional so having it in the spec doesn’t mean apps or relays will use it. But if it’s useful to some people then do it!

When finding an unknown event kinds Chachi will show you clients that support those so you get the full experience and discover cool new apps. This is critical for Chachi since it's a client focused on discovering, viewing, sharing and interacting with content while letting other tools handle content creation.

Publishing is complex, and at least in damus is not apparent which relays an event is published to.
For example, say you have 10 relays. You hit post, and hear back from three with successful post. Two relays reject your post. You have not heard back from the remainder five relays in a short amount of time.

I've never been able to use listr.lol successfully, I've tried on mobile and desktop. I didn't realize nostr.band supported lists.
That being said what a pain in the butt it is using multiple different apps to handle a simple function like lists of users I follow. It seems like a feature any client should have, as a single list with hundreds (or thousands) of people with no way to categorize them is useless. Trying to organize a 700 person list is painful. Hopefully there is an Amethyst update soon, it's been 3 months.
I'm trying out Nostrmo. Maybe it has better list management functions.

the HTTP api is simple, there is literally just a channel that sends a context from the http request, the authed pubkey (if any), *one* filter, and a channel to receive new events on
in contrast, the websocket has three functions, one to add a new subscription, one to close a specific subscription of one socket, and to remove all of the subscriptions of one socket
i feel like the right way to do this is to make them uniform, so instead of having this complicated scheme, each subscription itself is distinct, but then i have the problem of supporting the closing of all the subscriptions of a socket, this is the main difference between the two interfaces
reconciling these two separate things into a uniform and simplified interface is really what i want to do here, and then each individual subscription has one filter and one close context, but i need a means to have all of them cancel at once...
i'm still a bit lost how to do this, but i'm gonna try and figure out a means to solve the problem

i feel it is going to need something different, so where currently the sockets are not maintaining the state of their individual subscriptions, but using the websocket as a grouping for a set of subscriptions tied to one socket... >_< gonna figure this out soon
this is the hardest part of splitting the two apis apart, it's the place where they are connected to the relay's subscription management scheme, once i can have one uniform mechanism for distributing new events out and closing them as one or as a group i'll have it done and then i can put the implementations of the interface into each api package and then if the api is disabled it just isn't being checked, currently they are spaghetti

I think the lead example if far fetched because whether in tiny amounts or large amounts it’s explicitly toxic to human tissue. Whereas the problem with cereals and constant ingestion of grains is the ceaseless minor damage building up over very extended periods. It’s mostly that the body never has time to repair the inflammation. But also some people can handle much more than others and your genetics and where in the world your ancestors are from matter too. Some people have integrated certain foods for tens of thousands of years, some were only exposed within a few hundred years. I fully recognize the picture isn’t perfectly identical for everyone.

yep, clients could easily implement basic auditing thanks to nostr's event history. basically zero code. you don't even necessarily need manual, prose reviews - a positive paper trail of pro-social behavior goes pretty far. (of course, implementations could add reviews trivially as well with existing Kinds. this could be a distinguising feature that might attract users to your client)

But that doesn’t mean every single person who eats cereal gets cancer, and it certainly doesn’t mean that your other foods and lifestyle don’t change things. They clearly have an enormous effect.
Example, my friend’s grandmother smoked everyday until she was in her 90s and never got lung cancer. That wouldn’t be sufficient evidence that it’s fine for everyone to smoke everyday and there will be no consequences. I also ate cereal for much of my life until my mid twenties and never got cancer nor had a heart attack. But within weeks of drastically changing my diet away from foods like that, there were significant shifts, including a persistent full body “puffy ness” (inflammation) that I had never seen because I’d never corrected my diet for long enough to see it subside. My face literally looked different. My wife did the same and we can now see it in all of our old pictures. We can just look through pictures and know if it was before or after that period because our faces are just puffy.
That doesn’t mean the experience would be exactly the same for everyone, but we are constantly sold an absolute inversion of the truth when it comes to diet. We are told to eat grains, vegetables, and fibers when we get almost no nutrients from these things, can’t digest much of them, and they produce bad cholesterols, have bad oils, and carry tons of toxins. While simple animals oils, meat, good cholesterols, and healthy fats are not only not encouraged, but actively attacked.
We’ve done exactly what has been suggested by our “health professionals,” yet we are drowning in chronic disease, inflammation and are horribly unhealthy. The results speak for themselves, imo.
It would also seem to me to be backward for someone to be bothered about hearing that foods that are actually healthy… are in fact healthy - even if exaggerated to the importance. Especially when what amount to flat lies about the same topic are broadcast from every direction, pushed by much of the medical establishment, and repeated as gospel at every commercial break all day long. 🤷🏻♂️
Maybe be bothered by that as well considering what it has done to our country? 🤔 Worth considering which one to focus on, imo.

My suggestions would be same as @npub1m64…uaks's and that is to wipe YakiHonne, delete all site data and cookies from your browser (and Amber I guess) and then reauthenticate with the app. It "should" fetch your profile and relays. If that is not the case then add your relays as you have them in Amethyst.

My easy cheat code weight loss meal is a good spicy chili, but I add in a fair amount of finely chopped cabbage. Chopped fine enough it doesn't change the texture, and a long simmer negates any cabbage taste. Super filling and tasty. I make a giant batch and freeze for later. 😋
