Todo mundo já ouviu que o bitcoin é uma “moeda digital”; porém devemos ter consciência que tudo o que é digital só existe porque há uma hardware físico funcionando em algum lugar. No caso do bitcoin são as “ASICS” e os “nodes”; não vou descrever sobre os mesmo, porque sinceramente não os compreendo plenamente. Porém, hoje é necessário um grande investimento para manter uma ASICS.
E aqui surge um potencial problema; em mais ou menos 150 anos a mineração de bitcoin que usa as ASICS irá terminar. Você pode imaginar que os mineradores poderiam convertê-las em nodes, porém uma node é uma ferramente (até onde entendo) que se torna rentável na medida em que transações são realizadas na rede. E aqui a valorização constante do bitcoin pode ser um problema.
Um ativo que sempre tende a se valorizar não será usado como moeda corrente; isso implica que o numero de transações na rede será extremamente baixo. Então teremos uma tempestade perfeita; o fim da mineração, o baixo numero de transações na rede e a constante valorização do bitcoin (que desestimula a utilização deste como moeda corrente).
Isso no mínimo irá tornar a rede extremamente lenta; ou mesmo levá-la ao colapso. E aqui talvez acontece algo inimaginável! Grupos metacapitalistas como a blackrock; que até onde sabemos tem investido milhões em bitcoin e mesmo os estados passem a colocar hardware para funcionar e manter a estabilidade da rede.
Porém isso acarretará no sequestro do bitcoin; uma ferramenta que surgiu como um mecanismo para liberar indivíduos o poder do estado e das metacorporações pode acabar sendo dominado por estes entes.

Has anyone put together a list of developers and the projects that they are working on so that the community can easily see who to zap with support if they like how an app is working?
I know Amethyst has the "zap the devs" thing which pops up like an advertisement whenever I load the app, but all that does is discourage me from loading the app. I'll zap a post about a new version or upgrade to something that I use if I see it in my feed, but I'm not really in a position to send more than a hundred sats here or there. More exposure for the devs would be great, and even though I know that I'm following most of the ones I like, the VAST majority of content that I see is regular life posts, not "see what I built".
I'd actually like to see more of the "see what I did" posts. Every upgrade, every new version, etc.

Eu tinha uma criação de frangos até esse ano, mas tive que acabar pois o preço da energia é da ração N parava de subir e não podia aumentar o preço da venda dos ovos e animais pois N teria o escoamento da produção. No final agr vai ser aquele esquema de ter que virar finca se N vai ser tenso viver aqui. Queria sair do país, mas tenho que cuidar de minha mãe oq torna isso inviável infelizmente.

Opensats should consider that many infrastructure operations do not need to update GitHub every day. And they have a lot of work to do. They also need funds to support their continued operations. You can also formulate separate funding rules for infrastructure operation developers. So that they can apply for funds better.

I will continue to use Alby irregardless but was just giving my thoughts on the 98% of non-technical, less fee tolerant audience.
He went bonkers pretty much. Unfollowed him when in his video about how to not get scammed some nft, he launched some nft project as a sponsor (wolf society? ) - turned out to be his rugpull token. Later, in video about dangers of financial advise gurus he promoted Yotta and so on, always dissing something as bad, then promoting his own "good" alternative which is the same shit. One could argue "he warned ya", but in reality he pretty much sold out his userbase who thought of him as "authority", while at the same time, just switching to clickbait ai generated content for segments where is is NOT rugpulling them (and thus does not care about retaining attention, just clicks).

I love Alby and I think their browser extension in the single most awesome and useful Lightning thing ever created. Having said that, I do think having to pay to be non-custodial (whether via Alby cloud service or your own node), is a total non-starter for 95% of users, and is of course a large reason why lightning has struggled in general.
Additionally, the thing that lightning is best at currently is SMALL payments, which honestly most people don't need non-custodial when it is for small amounts.
Non-custodial is for my cold wallet. I don't mind having some sums in custodial things, so long as they are very convenient and cheap to use.
I'd have happily paid a 500-1000 sats every month to use alby custodially, and I hope they considered that, but guessing it's not possible from a legal standpoint in many jurisdictions.

I’ve seen people here say they’d like a Nostr app like TikTok for video. I’ve even thought that at times. Throughout the election season, I spent a fair amount of time browsing other social media apps, including Tiktok. I hadn’t used it in a couple years and I hate it now compared to what it used to be. It is essentially this generation’s “Home Shopping Network.” Nothing but constant ads, even from people who “aren’t advertising.” This isn’t really surprising, I guess, but it’s a horrendous user experience. We recently installed CoreLightning to tryout Bolt12 but when I generate an offer and try to pay from @npub1ex7…vyt9 , I get an error that a route couldn’t be found. But if I generate a lightning invoice request form the CoreLightning node, I can pay that and invoice. I’m confused how one could work and the other will not.

Checkout some of the non bitcoin focused podcasts. See how much they are "boosting."
It will put you to shame. That crowd gets it.
You would think that bitcoin nostr would be torch bearer here, but it's not.
I say this with love. But the podcasting people have figured out this lifestyle years ago.
Now, apart from that there is a technical issue that the podcasting people use keysend for lighting and nostr uses a different method. Which is why node running is prevalent in that group.
But the generosity is still orders of magnitude higher over there.
Yeah I suppose if you only relied upon zaps that would be pretty weak sause.
Now with Podcasting 2.0 where the culture actually understands what value means, f you tap into that model and scene and culture I think you'd have a node paid for in no time.
The cost/time associated with running a node is absolutely negligible, though. People act like it's a full-time job. It's not. I spend more time constantly clearing out my email inbox than I do fussing over my node.
As far as risk, custodial services being lower risk is laughable to me.

So I’m thinking of buying a retreat center in the redwoods of Northern California that supports about 50 people in a rustic setting.
It’s pretty badass. 8 cabins, riverside, large hot tub, 3 saunas, swimming pond on about +200 acres. It’s expensive and would take a few years to get cashflow positive, but I could do it.
I think it would be a great spot to do various workshops on self-sovereignty, and get brilliant people together to teach, learn, and collaborate together. Only problem is I have no fucking clue what I am doing or how to run something like this. I feel confident I could figure it out, I just know it’ll be a lot of work, administration, and management the first several years.
But with that being said, I guess get busy living or get busy dying.
