If you have never made pull request to a free open-source project you should make that your weeks challenge. Even something simple, like fixing some spelling in a readme doc. Don't be scared. There's a bunch of technical ways to make a pr, but the easiest is to edit a doc directly in github, it will make the pr for you. Just register on github, go to the page you want to edit and click the edit button 👍.

It's the quality of federation and how the funds are secured. So far I wouldn't trust the federations being discussed. Early days tho. Liquid go to great pains to secure their federation, for now that seems like a better solution to me. Or trust a high signal team, like Galoy and Blink.

To be clear, I love ecash, it has great applications, such as paid API calls like in Wasabi. The worlds soft currencies will be ecash, built on Bitcoin stack.
There is however an issue when 90% bitcoiners think ecash is noncustodial, pegged, see it as a "scaling" solution.
* There are no proof of reserve proposals that make sense, mints can always brr.
* Ecash is not a scaling solution, it's a custodial solution.
* You are giving someone your bitcoin, and they are giving you a thing they claim is bitcoin.
* Mint operators should be aware of the legal risks.

I am utterly unafraid of CBDCs.
The hysteria is mostly formed from superficial doom-circle-jerk analysis. Successful CBDCs will be a private federated ecash (or something very similar), the wisest built on the Bitcoin stack:
* Private banks will not sacrifice their power over money production via debt (as mints' status quo can continue).
* Privacy/fungibility and acquiring users overrides any Stalinist incentives.
* All we need is 1 sovereign currency producing country to use a fedi-like system built on Bitcoin, Gresham's law will do the rest.
* Building digitally native money is really fucking hard, do not underestimate the work we have done, and how governments will make use of it.
Zoom out. Post WW2 monetary order was a design choice, the next will be for apolitical money as world reserve currency, (let's not be humble) Bitcoin really is the best candidate.
Sovereign currency-producing countries, who actually do their homework, know all this. Having a native digital currency entirely interoperable with other countries' currency via its apolitical base (Bitcoin) IS the solution we are tip-toeing towards. Humanity moves toward greater liberation.
As time wears on, and liquidity pours in bitcoin, it will become stable enough to use naively. Whether people will use really depends on how poorly their CBDC treat them.
This is how hyperbitcoinisation happens.

Using #arduinonostr library its possible to make a #nostr mesh-network of cheap microcontrollers.
A node is both dumb relay and client, it looks for other nodes nearby and connects to them over ble/wifi to share notes. Notes are push/pulled over webserial to a device (phone, whatever).
As long as the microcontrollers are always looking for new connections, the mesh will be self-healing.

I did an interesting early breakdown of #nostr and its potential to create public commons of Twitter, Uber, Ebay, and more on @WhatBitcoinDid Jan 2022.
Takeaway: I love the twitter clients but #nostr is far more profound than just twitter.

Man, I love #Amethyst UI, feels great!
All that sucks is the name, which is hard to spell and remember, hopefully they'll change. It's sad when great projects handicap themselves with bad names.
