Ano, přemýšlí o tom všichni. Se svým letitým oponentem v debatách, u kterého jsem dnes byl na grilování s jeho rodinu u nich na chatě, jsme se dnes shodli, že ve skutečnosti reagujeme na specifické americké agendy, které v Evropě v podstatě nejsou z řady důvodů úplně relevantní. Přesto jsme se neshodli na spoustě jiných věcí, třeba jestli ve světě začínají vyhrávat "hloupí a zlí lidé", nebo "chytří a zlí lidé" (můj komentář byl, že pokud jsou fakt hloupí, ještě to není tak zlé, protože dlouho vládnout nevydrží).
Tvojí potřebu vědět, kdo je odborník Unie na Američany, sice chápu, ale je to úplně marné. Lidi, co tam skutečně žili, zažili každý úplně jinou Ameriku. Neexistuje jednotná zkušenost. Míra polarizace politické scény tam dosáhla nejvyšší úrovně za snad 150 let. Žádný takový odborník neexistuje, protože nikdo nechápe, co se tam děje. Amerika je předlužená, potenciálně neschopná splácet dluhy. Není jasné, co to znamená, a navrhované zadlužování EU má potenciál EU dostat do stejného stavu. Donkichotské snahy o "úspory" ale neřeší nic. Trump je známým mistrem bankrotů.
Nemyslím, že lze současné zmatečné signály vysílané Trumpovou administrativou pochopit zaprvé bez pochopení ekonomických souvislostí a za druhé bez pochopení toho, že se mstí těm, kteří uznali jeho porážku v roce 2020 (např. Brian Krebs, apod.) A odměňuje naopak ty, které "perzekuovala" za útok na Kapitol předchozí vláda. Posunulo se to na úroveň rozvojových zemí, ve kterých každá následující vláda, která vyhraje, pozavírá zástupce té předchozí.

In February, 50-year-old Hamit Coskun was charged with causing “harassment, alarm or distress” to the Islamic faith after burning a Quran outside the Turkish consulate in London. A KC told the National Secular Society that the charges were “plainly defective”, while the NSS accused prosecutors of reintroducing a blasphemy law “by the back door”.
It’s true, if Coskun is convicted, that this would mark yet another step in Europe’s steady capitulation to the “Jihadists’ Veto” — where fear of violent backlash dictates the boundaries of lawful expression. Coskun said his display was a protest against Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. On X, Coskun claimed that Turkey is being turned into a “base for radical Islamists”. He also wanted to express solidarity with Salwan Momika, an Iraqi refugee who was assassinated in Sweden in January after burning Qurans in repeated public protests.
Coskun’s reference to events in Sweden illustrates a broader European trend. A spate of Quran burnings, particularly in Scandinavia, has exposed the growing influence of what might be called outsourced censorship. This is the result of a mix of pressure from authoritarian regimes, especially the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC); threats from jihadist groups; and appeasement by liberal democracies.
The UK has its own examples where the state has failed to defend its citizens’ right to criticise religious doctrine. In the case of the Batley Grammar School teacher — who is still in hiding four years after showing a caricature of the Prophet Muhammad during a class on religious education — he was not even criticising the religion. Yet the British Government allowed the mob to threaten and intimidate someone merely doing their job. And who can forget the 2023 case of the autistic pupil who received death threats for allegedly damaging a copy of the Quran?

We were hit hard by the DeRP and having many older staff SME's.My coworker is a gs7 covering the responsibilities of a gs11 and a gs12. I think I'm now their supervisor as a non-sup 11 come 01May.Another coworker is a gs11 covering an additional gs11 and a gs13.They ask 'what's the point.' And I don't know. At what point do we just let important things fall apart? How do you answer the question: "why am I overworking myself." Or "what's the point"?

This is true of all organisations in our public sphere : the sum of the parts is greater than the whole. But what happens to those organisations when lies are promoted by leaders? What happens when those in positions of some influence are told by that leadership to deny reality? And what happens to children on the receiving end of reality denial and collusion aimed at maintaining the lie? Children’s cognitive development, understanding, general wellbeing and mental health is more than likely to suffer. Those delivering the lie will suffer psychologically too.
Surely then such a state of affairs should be avoided? Yet, one year on from the Cass Report and the Scottish Government’s acceptance of it, nothing has changed. This article will focus on our schools, but we suggest that our conclusions are relevant for all our public services.
ScotPAG’s view is that our Scottish Government has ignored the Cass Review’s recommendations by ignoring the importance of schools and Dr Cass’s comments about schools. Cass states that given the current societal context in which children and teenagers are growing up, care must be exercised due to influential factors already impacting on children and teenagers´ mental health.

A US woman based in Illinois has got a new lease of life after doctors managed to reattach her head to her spine, following a freak sports injury that left her on the verge of being "internally decapitated". Megan King was only 16 when during a gym class, she leapt in the air to catch a football but fell awkwardly to the ground -- damaging her right ankle and spine whilst tearing the muscle off both shoulder blades.
Despite undergoing dozens of surgeries over the next few years, her condition continued to decline, leaving doctors scratching their heads. With no treatment in sight, Ms King's muscles started to tear apart while the joints weakened.
In 2015, a decade after the injury, doctors diagnosed her with hypermobile Ehler's-Danlos syndrome (hEDS), a genetic disorder that stops collagen - a key joint tissue - from forming properly and leads to joint instability.

Two different takes on the idea of a strawberry-frosted lemon bar -- "strawberry lemonade bars".
The first is from King Arthur. The bars ended up oily and overly flexible -- probably from using flax eggs instead of real egg. Maybe psyllium husk would've been better here. But it's all dairy-free using plant butter, and the result is tasty, even if oily.
The second are vegan lemon brownies (vegan to avoid dairy for allergies, and expensive eggs) with a strawberry marshmallow fluff frosting. The first batch was gross as far as brownies -- leave out the lemon extract -- but the second small batch was great! The fluff didn't fluff up right, but it set well and was still delicious.
Lots of things learned. Was fun though! Even if I was disappointed at the time.
