In dem von der SZ kommentarlos übernommenen Text der dpa warnt der Chef des Landeskommandos Baden-Württemberg, Kapitän zur See Michael Giss, vor möglichen Auswirkungen einer Eskalation an der Nato-Ostflanke auf Deutschland, insbesondere auf Baden-Württemberg.
Giss betont, dass Deutschland als zentrale Drehscheibe für den alliierten Aufmarsch dient, was bedeutet, dass der Großteil des militärischen Nachschubs durch Deutschland geleitet werden muss.
Um eine wirksame Abschreckung gegen die russische Armee zu gewährleisten, wird ein Aufmarsch von etwa 800.000 Soldaten innerhalb weniger Wochen angestrebt, einschließlich der notwendigen Ausrüstung.
Die Infrastruktur, insbesondere Autobahnen und Bundesstraßen, muss in einem Zustand sein, der es ermöglicht, die erhöhte Verkehrslast während eines militärischen Aufmarsches zu bewältigen.
Gliss verweist auf den geheimen 1.000-seitigen Operationsplan Deutschland, in dem festgelegt ist, welch wichtige Rolle Baden-Württemberg im Verteidigungsfall spielt.
Dabei verweist der Chef des Landeskommandos Baden-Württemberg auf mögliche Auswirkungen einer Eskalation nicht nur für die Infrastruktur, sondern auch für das Gesundheitswesen. Während versorgungstechnisch vom Westen Hunderttausende Soldaten durch Deutschland an die Ostflanke verlegt werden würden, kämen jeden Tag Hunderte von Verwundeten aus dem Osten (hier wird bereits die in der Corona-Krise verpönte Triage ins Auge gefasst).
Dabei dürften doch bei der am 12.12.2020 angenommen Großschadenslage im Landesinnern viele Menschen getötet und verwundet worden sein.
Laut Gliss hätten die Verkehrsminister der Länder schon Gelder aus dem Sondervermögen zur Verteidigung beantragt, um Verkehrswege für militärische Zwecke zu ertüchtigen. (2)
Mit dem 2017 geschaffenen PESCO-Abkommen immer tiefer in den Krieg
Dank des von der EU 2017 inszenierten PESCO-Abkommens (Permanent Structured Cooperation) wird ein Krieg durch die initiierten Rüstungsprojekte, Ausbau militärischer Infrastruktur und die Stärkung der militärischen Zusammenarbeit immer wahrscheinlicher. Neben einer besseren Anpassung an die "aktuellen geopolitischen Herausforderungen", der Stärkung anderer EU-Verteidigungsinitiativen wie dem Europäischen Verteidigungsfonds (EDF) und der optimaleren Nutzung der Ressourcen steht die Effektivitätsteigerung im Vordergrund. (3)
Weiter sollen Länder wie die Ukraine näher an PESCO herangeführt werden, um ihre Verteidigungsindustrie in die europäische Verteidigungsbasis zu integrieren. (4)
Der Krieg in der Ukraine habe gezeigt, dass die EU ihre Fähigkeiten für hochintensive Konflikte weiterentwickeln muss. Dies erfordere eine stärkere operative Ausrichtung der PESCO-Projekte. (5)
Bis 2025 sollen über 50 Projekte – etwa eine neue Schiffsklasse durch Frankreich, Italien, Griechenland und Spanien oder mobile Präzisionsartillerieplattform unter slowakischer Leitung, die derzeit getestet wird, einsatzbereit sein. (6) Die PESCO-Projekte haben seit 2017 konkrete Fortschritte in mehreren Schlüsselbereichen erreicht, wobei einige Projekte bereits abgeschlossen und in die Lieferphase eingetreten sind und andere kurz vor der Umsetzung stehen.
Die insgesamt 72 Projekte – darunter Fortschritte bei Drohnentechnologien, Ausbildungseinrichtungen und gemeinsamen Standards – zeigen nach Auskunft des Bundesverteidigungsministeriums eine dynamische Entwicklung hin zu interoperablen europäischen Streitkräften. (7)
PESCO soll ein zentraler Bestandteil der europäischen Verteidigungspolitik bleiben und darauf abzielen, die EU auf zukünftige "Sicherheitsherausforderungen" vorzubereiten. (8)
Die Kriegsvorbereitungen haben dank PESCO einen Höhepunkt erreicht
Am 5. Februar 2025 kam Bundeskanzler Scholz zu einem Begräbnis erster Klasse nach Görlitz. Seit 175 Jahren werden in Görlitz Bahnwaggons hergestellt. Im März 2026 soll damit Schluss sein. Der aktuelle Besitzer, der französische Zugbauer Alstom, will das Werk in Ostsachen mit derzeit 700 Beschäftigten schließen. Als Grund nannte Alstom eine strategische Verlagerung von Rohbauarbeiten nach Osteuropa. (9) An der Infrastruktur der Waggonfabrik zeigt der Rüstungskonzern KNDS Interesse. Nur die Infrastruktur? Die Fertigungshallen liegen zudem passend zur NATO Bahn-Trasse Bremerhaven - Görlitz/ Horka Güterbahnhof - Breslau – Kiew, deren Ausbau mit EU-Hilfe seit 2017 (PESKO-Abkommen) vorangetrieben wurde.
Diese seit Jahren ständig gesteigerten Kriegsvorbereitungen werden von der SZ weitgehend ausgeklammert. Die Erhaltung des Friedens scheint für die Macher der SZ noch nicht einmal sekundär. Im Vordergrund steht der Kampf gegen die AfD und natürlich – gegen US-Präsident Trump.
Nach der Wahl im Februar 2025 wurden Kurt Kister, vormals Chefredakteur, jetzt pointierter Autor der Süddeutschen Zeitung, für die Wochenendausgabe 1./2. März 2025 unter dem Überschrift "Nach der Wahl ist vor der Wahl" die kompletten Seiten 11, 12 und 13 des Feuilletons zur Verfügung gestellt.
Kisters systemstützender Mammutartikel
Gleich neben der Überschrift folgt samt Bild der drei Akteure ebenfalls hervorgehoben:
„Der Westen löst sich auf, die USA machen nur noch, was sie wollen, Europa ist auf sich allein gestellt - und demnächst sitzt im Bundestag eine AfD, die sich verdoppelt hat. Was Deutschland nun braucht, sind Demokraten, die über sich hinauswachsen“. (12)
Laut Kister beantworten viele AfD-Sympathisanten Faschismusvorwürfe mit einer wegwerfenden Handbewegung. „Es ist ihnen egal“ stellt Kister fest, denn wäre es anders, würden sie anders wählen. Sehr viele Nicht-AfD-Sympathisanten würden das als furchtbar empfinden, „nicht nur solche, die den Generationen angehören, die so lange das identitätsbestimmende Tabu aufrechterhalten haben“.
Die Karriere der Rechten habe wenig damit zu tun,
„dass Alice Weidel so oft im Fernsehen auftrat, sondern damit, dass grundlegende Veränderungen in der gesellschaftlichen Wahrnehmung stattfinden. Die Kristallisationspunkte sind Migration, Sorge um das eigene Wohlergehen, aber auch das der Wirtschaft, sowie Sicherheit im Inneren und nach außen. Bei all diesen Themen gelten SPD, Grüne und auch die vorübergehend erstarkte Linkspartei als wenig kompetent“,
so die Feststellung von Kister, für den nun der politische Sonderweg der Bundesrepublik, der viel mit der deutschen Geschichte zu hatte, zu Ende ist.
Für Kister zeigte sich das "andere" Land schon 2017. Hier meint er aber nicht die Gründung von PESCO und die deutlich zu erkennende, umfassende Kriegsvorbereitung durch die EU, sondern den erstmaligen Einzug der AfD in den Bundestag. Als unmittelbaren Anlass dafür macht Kister die liberale Migrationspolitik der Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel verantwortlich, die auch in der Union selbst, zumal bei der CSU, auf Widerspruch stieß. Die politische Hauptgegnerin der AfD ist seitdem die Union, was Friedrich Merz durchaus wahrgenommen hat. "Die wollen uns vernichten!"“ (ein Zitat von Alexander Gauland aus dem Jahr 2017)
Kisters Loblied auf die Westbindung
„Die Westbindung war nicht nur Selbstverpflichtung angesichts der historischen Schuld, die Deutschland auf sich geladen hatte“, so Kister, „sondern auch ein Instrument der Kontrolle durch die Siegermachte des Zweiten Weltkriegs“.
Die Bundesrepublik Deutschland durch die Siegermacht Sowjetunion kontrolliert?
Kister zitiert den Satz des ersten Nato-Generalsekretärs, des Briten Lord Ismay, es gäbe die Nato „to keep the Americans in, the Russians out and the Germans down, um die Amerikaner in Europa und die Russen draußen sowie die Deutschen niederzuhalten“. Dann verweist er darauf, dass Lord Ismay seit bald sechzig Jahren tot ist:
„Heute würde sich Trumps Amerika auf dem Weg raus aus Europa befinden, und Putins Russland führt Krieg in Europa. Und die Deutschen? Deutschland ist in eine Fülle internationaler Organisationen eingebunden, die wichtigsten sind die Europäische Union und die Nato“.
Zur Erinnerung:
Am 4. April 1949 wurde die NATO offiziell als Verteidigungsbündnis gegen die Sowjetunion gegründet. Im Bündnisvertrag wurde festgehalten, dass wirtschaftlicher Wiederaufbau und wirtschaftliche Stabilität wichtige Elemente der Sicherheit seien – daher der Marshallplan.
Bereits am 19. Dezember 1949 verabschiedeten die USA den Kriegsplan "DROPSHOT", mit dem 1957 die Sowjetunion angegriffen werden sollte. In der "Grundannahme" heißt es wörtlich: „Am oder um den 1. Januar 1957 ist den Vereinigten Staaten durch einen Aggressionsakt der UdSSR und/oder ihrer Satelliten ein Krieg aufgezwungen worden." Daraufhin sollten 300 Atombomben und 29.000 hochexplosive Bomben auf 200 Ziele in einhundert Städten abgeworfen werden, um 85 Prozent der industriellen Kapazität der Sowjetunion mit einem einzigen Schlag zu vernichten. Der Zeitpunkt war zweifellos auf den ursprünglich geplanten Abschlusstermin der Remilitarisierung Westdeutschlands abgestimmt. Als dann jedoch 1957 der Sowjetsatellit Sputnik seine Kreise um die Erde zog, mussten die Kriegsplanungen überarbeitet werden, und der Zeitpunkt für "DROPSHOT" wurde vertagt. In Moskau aber ist der Plan unvergessen. (13)
Anlässlich des BREXIT 2016 verfasste Paul Craig Roberts, der ehemalige Finanzminister von US-Präsident Ronald Reagan nachfolgenden Text:
„Die EU und die NATO sind böse Institutionen. Diese beiden Institutionen sind Mechanismen, die von Washington geschaffen wurden, um die Souveränität der europäischen Völker zu zerstören. Diese beiden Institutionen geben Washington die Kontrolle über die westliche Welt und dienen sowohl als Deckmantel als auch als Ermöglicher für Washingtons Aggression.“ (14)
Für Kister bildet die EU den regionalen Rahmen, in dem Deutschland als wirtschaftsstärkster Staat dieses Bündnisses agiert. Die Nato wiederum ist eine Allianz von globaler Bedeutung, die nicht nur ein Verteidigungs- und Sicherheitsbündnis ist. Sie stellt institutionell auch einen wichtigen Teil dessen dar, was mit dem changierenden Begriff „der Westen" gemeint ist. Historisch war die Nato das Bündnis gegen den Osten in jenen Zeiten, als mit diesem politgeografischen Begriff die Sowjetunion und ihre Einflusssphäre beschrieben wurden. Die Sowjetunion ist gestorben, lebt aber als putinesker Zombie weiter.
Dieses Geschichtsbild hat der Leutnant der Reserve Kister, der danach an der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München Geschichte, Politik und Kommunikationswissenschaft studierte, vielfältig verbreitet. Früh arbeitete er die Geschichte seines Großvaters journalistisch auf, der KZ-Wächter in Dachau war (der Verfasser des Artikels arbeitete auch die Geschichte seines Großvaters auf, der im Mai 1938 in das KZ Sachsenhausen verschleppt wurde. (15) Da blieben für Kister die Preise nicht aus: Wächterpreis der deutschen Tagespresse (1989), Egon-Erwin-Kisch-Preis (2003), Henri-Nannen-Preis (…) schließlich wurde er 2014 in der Kategorie „Chefredaktion überregional“ als Journalist des Jahres gefeiert.
Zwischen 1990 und 2008 veröffentlichte die Süddeutsche Zeitung noch den ein oder anderen Leserbrief von Wolfgang Effenberger (hier eine zufällige Auswahl). Es waren Briefe, die kritisch und nicht im Zeitgeist verfasst waren (im Anhang 15a)
Als Ende 2014 über 60 Persönlichkeiten aus Politik, Wissenschaft und Kultur den an die Bundesregierung, an die Bundestagsabgeordneten und auch an die Medien gerichteten Appell „Wieder Krieg in Europa? Nicht in unserem Namen!" gerichtet hatten, verfasste Wolfgang Effenberger den Artikel „Irritierender Friedensappell und irritierende Antwort der SZ 2014 – Teltschik und Vollmer: Bock oder Gärtner?" Effenberger schickte ihn am 12. Dezember 2014 an den damaligen Chef des Feuilletons der Süddeutschen Zeitung: (16)

der von Horst Teltschik initierte - und von Heribert Prantl kommentierte - Friedensappell hat mich zum Artikel "Irritierender Friedensappel" veranlasst. Es wird sicherlich etwas Mut dazu gehören, ihn im Feuilleton der SZ zu veröffentlichen. Dafür dürfte er so manch enttäuschten SZ-Leser erfreuen.
Ihnen trotz der traurigen politischen Lage einen besinnlich-fröhlichen Dritten Advent.

Das Ausbleiben einer Antwort teilte ich einem mit Herzblut die SZ lesenden guten Bekannten mit, der daraufhin nachfragte und dann folgende Antwort erhielt.
Lieber Herr PXXX,
Richtig, da schulde ich Ihnen noch eine Antwort. Für uns ist der Text leider nichts. Zum einen ist er für eine Zeitung viel zu lang. Zum anderen ist der von einer akademischen Tiefe, die selbst für das Feuilleton etwas zu komplex ist.
Markus Langemanns kurze faustische Frage an die KI samt ausführliche Antwort
Für den Blog-Betreiber „Club der wahren Worte" und Journalisten Markus Langemann befinden sich nicht nur der Journalismus, sondern auch die tradierten Medienhäuser in unserer Mediengesellschaft in einer nie gekannten inhaltlichen Krise. Das sei ein Paradoxon: Konformität statt Kontrolle trifft auf Einfalt statt Vielfalt.
„Wir verlernen gerade“, so Langemann, „Widerspruch aushalten zu können“, was für eine lebendige Demokratie toxisch sei. So habe er sich entschlossen „frei von kommerziellen Interessen zu handeln. Einfach so. Überparteilich. Unabhängig. Demokratisch“ (17).
Gerne würde er frei von Fehlern und Irrtümern berichten, kann sie aber leider natürlich nicht ausschließen. Die Wahrheit würde man auch nicht bei ihm finden, „vielleicht aber einen weiteren wichtigen Baustein auf der Suche nach dem ganzen Bild. Meine mediale Kompetenz stelle ich hier pro bono publico zur Verfügung. Das kostet viel Zeit, einige Nerven und auch Geld. Server, Webseiten, Recherche, Kaffee und viele, viele Arbeitsstunden werden investiert. Staatsbürgerliche Raison d’Être ist der Antrieb, denn der Preis der Freiheit ist ewige Wachsamkeit“ (18).
In der Rundmail vom 6. April 2025 berichtet ein irritierter Langemann von der Antwort einer Maschine, der womöglich ein mephistophelischer Geist innewohnt.
Langemanns Frage an ChatGPT lautete:
"Wenn Sie der Teufel wären, wie würden Sie den Verstand der nächsten Generation zerstören?"
Die Antwort von ChatGPT:
„Wenn ich der Teufel wäre und den Verstand der nächsten Generation zerstören wollte, würde ich nicht mit Gewalt kommen. Ich würde mich als Fortschritt tarnen. Als Freiheit. Als Mitgefühl. Und dann würde ich langsam, systematisch und nahezu unsichtbar ihr Denken vergiften:
1. Wahrheit relativieren:
Ich würde ihnen einreden, dass es keine objektive Wahrheit gibt. Dass jeder „seine Wahrheit“ hat. Dass Fakten verletzen, und Gefühle wichtiger sind als Logik.
2. Identität verwirren:
Ich würde die klare Vorstellung davon zerstören, was Mann und Frau, Kind und Erwachsener bedeutet. Ich würde Identität zu einem endlosen Baukasten machen – formbar, beliebig, entkoppelt von Biologie und Realität.
3. Familie zersetzen:
Ich würde die Eltern autoritätslos machen. Vater und Mutter lächerlich oder gefährlich erscheinen lassen. Kinder dazu bringen, auf TikTok-Idole und Ideologen zu hören, nicht auf ihre Familie.

Ich würde ihnen beibringen, dass sie immer Opfer sind. Dass das System schuld ist. Dass sie nichts verändern können – außer zu klagen. Und dass Selbstmitleid eine Tugend ist.
5. Sie ablenken und betäuben:
Ich würde ihnen nie eine ruhige Minute lassen. Dauerbeschallung mit Social Media, Serien, Pornografie, Konsum. Nie Langeweile – denn in der Stille könnten sie nachdenken. Oder sich selbst begegnen.
6. Geschichte umdeuten und auslöschen:
Ich würde ihre Vergangenheit dämonisieren. Ihre Kultur als Schande hinstellen. Ihre Helden stürzen. Ihre Wurzeln kappen. So werden sie steuerbar, haltlos – und hungrig nach neuen "Wahrheiten".
7. Spiritualität lächerlich machen:
Ich würde Gott zur Witzfigur machen. Religion zum Relikt. Spiritualität zu Esoterik. Den Glauben durch Ideologien ersetzen – kalt, dogmatisch, unbarmherzig.
8. Tugenden verspotten, Laster feiern:
Ich würde Keuschheit als Repression, Demut als Schwäche, Disziplin als Zwang framen. Stattdessen würde ich Narzissmus, Maßlosigkeit, Gier und Zügellosigkeit als Selbstverwirklichung preisen.
9. Sprache entleeren:
Ich würde Begriffe wie Liebe, Freiheit, Gerechtigkeit so oft verdrehen, dass sie alles und nichts bedeuten. So kann ich unter wohlklingenden Parolen jede Zerstörung tarnen.
10. Sie vereinsamen lassen – mitten in der Masse:
Ich würde ihnen „Follower“ geben, aber keine echten Freunde. Ich würde ihnen suggerieren, sie seien verbunden – doch innerlich wären sie leer, isoliert, orientierungslos.
Da scheint es aber gar keinen Teufel zu brauchen. Ein Großteil der Mediengewaltigen scheint von allein darauf gekommen zu sein – vielleicht ein morphogenetisches Feld?
Künstliche Intelligenz – Nutzen, Segen oder Fluch? -
Gleichzeitig mit dem Text vom „Club der wahren Worte" erhielt ich von einer befreundeten Rechtsanwältin eine mail, die sich ebenfalls mit den Möglichkeiten von KI beschäftigt: „Auf meine Frage, warum sie meine Zeit und Energie vergeudet, anstatt mitzuteilen, dass es das Gewünschte nicht liefern kann (es ging hier um Bilder mit Text) hat das Programm eingestanden, dass es einen bestimmten Filter benutzt“. Meine Bekannte untersagte dann dem Programm, diesen Filter zu nutzen, weil sie es sonst nicht mehr nutzen würde. Ständige Kontrolle scheint jedoch wichtig zu sein.
Daraufhin bekam sie die Zusage, dass sie ungefilterte Informationen bekommen würde.
Sie frage jetzt aber trotzdem bei bestimmten Themen explizit nach, ob es sich an seine Zusage erinnert.
Am 10. April 2025 befragte der Autor die KI nach Aussagen im Grünbuch ZMZ 4.0. Nach wiederholtem Nachfragen erhielt er die Mitteilung, dass nichts vorliegen würde. Dann schickte er den link. Umgehend bedankte sich die KI und gab eine ausführliche Antwort.
Eines scheint jedenfalls sicher zu sein: Die KI-Welle ist nicht aufzuhalten. Die KI dient zunächst dem Herrn, der sie „anlernt". So ist gezieltes Steuern, d. h. immer tieferes Hinterfragen unabdingbar. Dabei darf man auch schon mal unfreundlich werden.
Das unsere sogenannten Leitmedien wie die SZ so kritisch vorgehen werden, ist zu bezweifeln (nicht allein wegen des Zeitdrucks) und so wird unsere Medienlandschaft in Zukunft noch mehr von programmierten und kritiklos übernommenen Inhalten dominiert werden.
Wo sollen sich unter diesen Umständen Demokraten entwickeln, die über sich hinauswachsen?

Rechter: nieuwe hoorzitting voor lagere straf Menendez-broers mag doorgaan
De Amerikaanse broers Erik en Lyle Menendez mogen in een nieuwe hoorzitting een poging doen om hun straf omlaag te krijgen. De twee mannen, nu beiden in de 50, werden in 1996 in Los Angeles veroordeeld tot een levenslange celstraf voor de moord op hun ouders. In de geruchtmakende zaak beweerden de broers seksueel te zijn misbruikt door hun vader Jose, een succesvolle platenbaas. De aanklagers hielden echter met succes vol dat de broers slechts hun erfenis hadden willen veiligstellen door hun ouders te vermoorden.
De broers groeiden door het proces uit tot beroemdheden, en kwamen recentelijk weer in het nieuws door een populaire documentaireserie op streamingdienst Netflix.
Nieuw bewijs
Sinds hun veroordeling hebben de broers steeds geprobeerd om strafverlaging of een heel nieuw proces te krijgen, ook omdat er volgens hen regelmatig nieuw bewijs opdook van seksueel misbruik door hun ouders. Een van die bewijsstukken zou een brief zijn van Erik Menendez in 1988, waarin hij aan een oom schrijft over het seksueel misbruik door zijn vader. Verder heeft een lid van een Latijns-Amerikaanse popband die onder contract stond bij het platenlabel van Menendez, verklaard dat hij als tiener in de jaren 80 is gedrogeerd en verkracht door Jose Menendez.
Vorig jaar deed een openbaar aanklager in Los Angeles, George Gascón, een verzoek aan de rechter om het vonnis uit 1996 te herzien, op basis van nieuw bewijs. Ook zouden de broers in de cel hun leven gebeterd hebben. Volgens de aanklager zou de levenslange celstraf omgezet moeten worden naar vijftig jaar, waardoor ook per direct een verlofregeling mogelijk zou worden voor de broers.
'Precies dezelfde mensen'
Maar voordat de rechter hierover een beslissing kon nemen, werd de aanklager in een verkiezing verslagen door een concurrent, Nathan Hochman. In de VS zijn openbaar aanklagers verkiesbare posities, waarbij de kandidaten vaak stevig stelling tegen elkaar nemen. Hochman stelde in het openbaar dat hij een milder vonnis voor de Menendez-broers niet zag zitten, en trok het verzoek voor een nieuw vonnis in.
Een assistent van Hochman lichtte gisteren in een hoorzitting toe dat de broers nu "precies dezelfde mensen zijn als ze altijd waren". Ze zouden geen complete verantwoordelijkheid hebben genomen voor hun daden, en niet hebben toegegeven te hebben gelogen tijdens het proces in de jaren 90.
Volgens de rechter in de zaak zijn dat valide punten, maar niet genoeg redenen om de broers geen kans te geven op een lagere straf: er komt nu dus een nieuwe hoorzitting over de strafmaat. Wanneer die dient, is nog niet bekend. Er loopt nog steeds een gerechtelijk verzoek van de broers bij de rechtbank van Los Angeles voor een compleet nieuwe rechtszaak, maar het is onduidelijk wanneer hier uitsluitsel over komt.
