It’s incredible to think what those paintings might have cost back then. In the late 1940s and 50s, works by Renoir or Van Gogh could be acquired for the price of a modest home or even less. Van Gogh’s pieces, now worth tens of millions, sold for a few thousand dollars at the time. It really was like buying Bitcoin before anyone believed in it. Your great-grandmother wasn’t just collecting art, she was safeguarding culture before the world realized its worth. That kind of vision is rare and timeless. 💛💛💛

Been a bit lost in routine lately but today I visited the annual exhibition at the Latvian Academy of Arts. The space was overflowing with works from emerging artists each piece brimming with raw vision and experimentation. It was moving to witness the courage and chaos of young creators putting themselves into form.
I’m lucky to have a close friend who’s a recognized artist here in Latvia, she’s been gently educating me on how to see. Art through her lens becomes less about taste and more about essence intention presence.
(I’ve even been her muse. Some of her most intimate works were born while I posed for her for hours.

The Great Toilet Reveal
I was going to the restroom at a shopping mall with my friend. There were three stalls, the middle one had a red lock, so my friend went into the first, and I headed to the third.
As I opened the door… BAM! Things started falling out of the stall - a purse, some clothes, a jacket, and who knows what else! 👜👗🧥 I looked up in shock and there she was… a woman sitting on the toilet, wearing just a bra and glasses, casually scrolling her phone like she was chilling at home. 📱🫣
I froze. For like five seconds I just stood there, staring at that poor purse stuck between the stall door and the floor. Meanwhile, more women started walking in and got treated to this glorious scene 😂 a half-naked lady and her personal belongings scattered all over the floor like a chaotic garage sale. 😳🚽🫠
Suddenly she stood up and slammed the door shut like nothing happened.
Me? 👀
I did my business in record time and sprinted out of there like my life depended on it, no way I was gonna meet her outside all dressed up and angry! 🏃‍♀️💨😅

Winter has returned to Latvia ❄️ Yesterday it got really cold again, and in some places, snow even fell! Today we at least got a bit of sunshine ☀️, but temperatures are still below zero with a biting wind 💨. Hard to believe that just on Thursday it was around +20°C!
We finally went on our first walk with Molly 🐾 after spending the week indoors or just in the garden . She’s been feeling cold even outside in the yard, especially since she’s lost quite a bit of weight. I’m so glad I found her warm winter coat !

How do you start your day? With coffee or tea? Or maybe like me? 🤭
I only drink hot water, no caffeine for about a year now, due to anxiety.
Caffeine makes me feel overstimulated and my heart races, so hot water, sometimes with lemon, has become something really tasty and comforting.
Once in a while, I’ll treat myself to a decaf latte just for the taste! 😁

Great News!
Today is the day when Mollija finally feels much better than before! Finally!
She hadn’t eaten for 4 full days! Four!!! But thanks to being on the BARF diet, she had good reserves to survive those days!
The vets threatened that she wouldn’t make it unless she underwent manipulations that only they could perform. She had to be pulled out of their hands and out of that veterinary clinic’s money-sucking system, just in time before they started chemical interventions. And right after that, at home, she vomited everything unnecessary and began to feel better.
They called after receiving the blood test results, saying the dog urgently needed to be brought to the clinic or she wouldn’t survive (without even asking how she was feeling or any questions about her condition).
Molly did everything instinctively! She just needed time, patience, and to be allowed to do what felt right to her. That’s when the road to recovery began, and today, for the first time, she ate a little. Just a bit -but that’s enough, because her stomach is so shrunken that it shouldn’t be overloaded.
She was surrounded by loved ones who cared, listened to her instincts, and let her body do what it needed to do! Just as nature intended. And everything is good! 💜

This morning didn’t start as usual. Molly isn’t feeling well, she’s been lying down all the time and hasn’t eaten breakfast (which is very unlike her). Just like a true mom, I’m right by her side. It’s so hard to see my beloved dog, who usually follows me around like a shadow, makes me smile, and loves to play, looking so weak. She’s being closely monitored, and I’m using homeopathy to support her. I really hope that by the evening she’ll feel much better. 🙏🏼🥹

How my eating habits changed my life 🫣
I never really paid much attention to what I ate, and that came with a price – my mental health. It manifested as anxiety, panic attacks, and severe depression. I was drinking alcohol daily, using hard drugs, taking antidepressants and benzos, and eating catastrophically bad food. My weight went up to 80 kg 😱 – even though I’m tall, it looked terrible, and I felt disgusted in my own skin, body, and reflection. It hit me hard that I needed to change my life from the ground up.
That’s when I started learning about food, habits, inner well-being, and the state of the soul. I realized I couldn’t keep going like this – my path was heading straight to an early grave, just like my father. So, I made a plan to change everything.
• March 2024: I quit antidepressants.
• June 2024: I quit drugs.
• July 2024: Extreme anxiety hit me hard, so I completely cut out alcohol and switched to homeopathy on a friend’s recommendation.
Anxiety is a whole topic on its own, and I could talk about it for ages, but that’s for another time.
I also met a unique person who made me think deeply about what I put into my body and soul through unhealthy food and habits. Gradually, step by step, I absorbed a lot of information and started changing my eating habits. I eliminated chemicals, preservatives, artificial colors, added sugars, processed foods, seed oils, and most flour-based products (which had been my daily staples for years), as well as pasteurized dairy and other junk.
Instead, I embraced clean, whole foods – meat, eggs, vegetables, fruits, berries, honey, and other natural gifts. I started cooking my own meals (something I never really did before because I was too lazy), spending time outdoors, walking over 10,000 steps a day, and reading books on anxiety and psychosomatics.
My weight started dropping day by day – from size 44 pants to size 36 in about 9 months.
However, in August 2024, hormonal acne hit hard – that was a new challenge.(That’s also a topic a next time) But I stayed committed to my clean eating, daily walks, and holistic approach. Now, in March 2025, the nightmare is over. I can finally live without anxiety, feeling slim, healthy, and my skin is still healing from scars. I see life completely different than previously..

Every animal has such a unique personality, regardless of the breed – they’re like mirrors of humans, shaped partly by how they’re raised. Molly has so many human-like traits that it’s almost eerie at times. We are incredibly close to each other. With strangers, she’s very cautious and won’t let anyone touch her.
But when it comes to food, that’s a sacred affair – even I don’t get a say in that! 😁

I have those tweezers in every bag because in Latvia, ticks are everywhere, plus 50 percent of the country is covered by forests. After just one walk in the woods, dogs can get 20+ ticks in their fur. 😁
The main thing is to make sure they don’t burrow in, but if they do, remove them correctly.
