I anticipate a future with spam and to prevent this I expect payments to be the rate limiter
The challenge is implementing payments in a frictionless fashion
Do you have any clever ideas?
I basically expect this to be like Kagi search engine but instead of returning webpages, it returns replies from people
My best idea right now is a wallet that’s created when the user first opens the app and a balance is deducted with each search
Maybe there’s a better way

I worried about people thinking it’s a spam bot and blocking
On one hand, it’s hard to block because it’s a new npub each time, on the other I should add a common criteria so it can be blocked if people want
I add profile metadata before each post to show people what it is but maybe there’s more I can be doing

One challenge I’ve found is integrating persistent mobile login on a web-app for iOS that doesn’t have terrible UX
I don’t want to handle keys and there isn’t an Amber equivalent on iOS yet
So my workaround has been to not require login at all and just give people links generated by my own key
I could add some logic like:
“IF logged in, then user uploads must be signed by user; ELSE, sign event on user’s behalf with gifbuddy key”
Then make a new page for logged-in users to see their own uploaded content
Is that what you had in mind?
Or are you guys thinking about it differently?

I use the wallet, but I don’t buy sats from it since you can deposit from other sources, I think it’s 25%-30% premium so Apple and Google can take their cut
You can only buy $5 worth at a time so people aren’t irresponsibly buying bitcoin at such a nasty premium
It’s just convenience for those with Apple Pay

Brainstorming a journal app, which may already exist
- text input or audio recording
- whisper.cpp transcription
- user-selected, local AI model that can help navigate obstacles, reflect, or search for content
- offline support
- private, open source
The immediate challenges I see are that transcription and local AI are memory intensive and aren’t practical to live only on frontend so it may not be possible as a PWA without compromise
Any other ideas/thoughts on this?
Not sure if nostr fits in since it is intended to be entirely personal and private

I don’t play games as much as I use to, but it was really impactful to me during formative years of my life
There may not be a huge advantage in that point specifically, even nostr devs are considering using their own token instead of sats within their client (surprisingly)
If I extrapolate out into the future, I don’t like the idea of having to deposit money into my game/app/service to retrieve credits
That just leaves dead money in pockets everywhere
I much prefer the NIP60 approach by @nprofile…srrg where you can have a “services wallet” that has an amount accessible immediately upon logging in

It must have been a couple years ago now, but SuperTestnet had a programming course on building a simple web wallet using LNbits
So I had played with that, created a wallet, had an API key and then one day months later I read that some of the LNbits servers were attacked
So I check and then I no longer had access to my wallet, my keys no longer worked, the server was dead
I never stored that much on there because I knew the risks, but I was pretty disappointed nonetheless
I like the idea of the project and hope it does better in future, but I lost faith after that

Your collections, while published under your key, are still public for anyone to use
