Great question! I've got a long (edit: VERY long!), many-pronged answer for you :)
The best answer is that the protocol doesn't enforce this and the three parties involved could choose to do exactly what you're saying. As I fill out the site more I'll be sure to include this important detail, so thanks very much for that.
The arbiter might advertise that they _don't_ judge work and the patron might make clear in their project description that they also work this way. In that case, the agent would send their work directly to the patron and then all three would need to coordinate with the arbiter to get the escrow released to someone.
The only thing the protocol expects is that _the arbiter_ is the one who creates the "job done" event and attests to the final conclusion and escrow release receipt.
There's a tightrope walk between making the protocol too opinionated such that it gets in the way, vs making it so loose that it doesn't provide any tools for consensus.
That said, I personally think keeping the arbiter "in the loop" as a judge is likely to yield better outcomes:
- Domain expertise for adjudication. If an arbiter is only doing dispute resolution, they'll still need to have domain expertise. If the patron and free agent come to the arbiter with a dispute about some implementation detail of a technical system, the arbiter is going to need to understand it to make a decision. By agreeing to judge the work itself, the arbiter is solidifying a promise about their domain expertise.
- It allows for a **patron** who _doesn't_ have domain expertise! Imagine a patron who has a lot of money, likes a particular open source nostr client, but doesn't know a thing about programming. He could request a feature, described in grug-brain language, "me want big blue button here that make picture". This clever patron selects the _high profile developer_ of the open source client as the arbiter. Now we're in interesting territory... The patron gets his button, the agent gets paid, and the arbiter/open source developer basically gets a PR/contribution to review (either to the upstream project or a personal fork for the patron). **He's getting his FOSS project extended without spending any money - in fact he makes money off arbiter fees.**
Sure, maybe this sets up new and bizarre incentives or cheats - but that's part of the fun!
- Last one because I wrote way too much here. The are many specific cases in which it is beneficial for two strangers to have a trusted third party in the loop: one example is "anonymous" shipping. Say I want to buy some stuff off @npub15dc…yv6e but I'm paranoid about leaking my address. Imagine there is a super high-profile and trustworthy arbiter out there who I think is _less likely_ than the vendor to dox me. I create a task to get the product to me (as a patron), with the vendor as the free agent and the trusted "shipping intermediary" as the arbiter. I pay ("escrow") the arbiter for the product, the free agent "does the work" of shipping **to the arbiter**. I've already trusted the arbiter with my address (privately), so they ship the product to me and release the funds to the vendor. I would expect to pay high arbiter fees for this incredible service that I can't get elsewhere!
In the last example, providing some basic protocol features that _allow_ (or at least don't preclude) the arbiter from being deeply in the loop creates opportunities for people to build creative service businesses. I'm sure people will come up with even more surprising ones, and I hope they build custom client apps for their weird things, and I hope they contract out the software work via Catallax.

I am a little worry about security of the network and relay.

He has created his account today, have been following about 1200 users and after unfollow quite all of them.
He had liked all my recent notes immediately after i post them.
And there is multiple "like" of him on my notes which should not be possible ?
One user can like multiple time one note ?
On some of my note he liked them 7 times (it is what primal display) ???
I am not complaining about this, we can expect this kind of bot-assisted account. A real man that write true note and reply, assisted with a bot that flood the network of follow/like or whatever.
But i really worry about bot attack against the relay and the network.
If a little bot can do so much flood, what could happen under thousands bots flood...
It is hard to know if there is a human behind a public key and not a bot or a AI. But i think it will be the real next challenge to avoid #nostr been under this kind of attack one day.

Not sure if I get it right because I only read the translated text but it sounds like device and app level security which is something that can only really work if there's a trusted attestation as to which software is running at your counterparties device I suppose?
My knowledge on this is very limited and I know that attestation is a thing but I don't know whether you wouls need to use apple or android-specific security features for it. Some banking apps seem to be doing this and also therefore don't run on modified OS etc.
More insights on this would be welcome.

Cashu é um protocolo de código aberto em que existem Minters que recebem Bitcoin pela rede Lightning, e esse Minter te dá um token eCash que corresponde à quantidade de sats que você enviou para ele.
Você guarda esse token eCash literalmente no seu dispositivo.
Você pode entregar esse token para outra pessoa mesmo estando offline, de forma “física”, literalmente.
A pessoa que recebeu o token pode escolher se confia ou não no Minter que o emitiu, filtrando assim possíveis scammers.
Só tem um porém: da mesma forma que você pode entregar um token, que é apenas uma string, para outra pessoa, você também pode salvar essa string e fazer a "reclamação" (reclaim) mais rápido do que ela. Quando a outra pessoa tentar fazer o reclaim, o Minter vai informar que aquele token já foi resgatado.
Sugiro que seja criada uma rede de wallets Cashu com um nível de segurança no lado do cliente, onde:
Os tokens nos dispositivos sejam criptografados para evitar alterações maliciosas por parte do usuário.
Assim que forem transferidos, os tokens sejam deletados automaticamente do cliente do usuário, para manter a integridade da existência única do token.
Assim como já existe o aviso sobre confiar no Minter ao receber um token eCash, deveria haver também um aviso sobre confiar na wallet que está recebendo o token. Assim, a comunidade saberia que a wallet implementou as garantias e seguranças acima, o que aumenta a legitimidade do token.
Se alguém criar uma wallet capaz de duplicar tokens eCash com intenção de aplicar golpes, a pessoa do outro lado receberia uma mensagem avisando que a wallet da qual está recebendo o token não faz parte das wallets com “selo” de verificação da comunidade, um alerta de que o emissor pode ter más intenções.
As wallets poderiam criar um banco de dados com uma lista de wallets “confiáveis”, contendo um checksum que possa ser facilmente verificado durante a negociação. Assim, se alguém usar uma wallet que era aceita pela comunidade, mas teve seu código alterado e essa nova versão não for mais considerada segura, o receptor saberia disso. There's only one US phone company, Apple, (that produces in China), and only one pure electric car manufacturer, Tesla. Both are wildly popular in China. In case of a trade war (or a real war), China can easily replace those products with their own alternatives for their domestic market. No western country could do the same.
I would distinguish the obscene Trump tariffs from the EU. The latter is intended to compensate for Chinese state subsidies. The bigger question is why China wants to exploit its own workers to make cars artificially cheap for foreigners.
Maybe in order to kill the EU car industry for the long run and then jack up prices later. Though that seems like a risky bet. Maybe the EU should just let them.
The quality remains to be seen. I wouldn't trust safety stats from China, nor from the current US government. These new cars will need to drive for a while in the EU to know. You can also use an AI tool to help you look at a projects GitHub page, look at the open issues, ask your AI things like “what are developers working on?” “Any unresolved issues?”
This way you can use a sort of “web of trust” to review the code and products you decide to use, even as someone who cannot read code themselves.

Chapter 13 of Broken Money is called "Heavy is the Head that Wears the Crown".
It focuses on the US trade deficit and why it arises structurally. In short, since the USD is the global reserve currency (for reserve assets, international contracts, FX trading pairs, and cross-border funding), there is tremendous automatic demand for USD in the world compared to other fiat currencies.
To supply the world with that ever-growing need for USD to service all sorts of needs, the United States runs structural trade deficits with the rest of the world. That's how the USD spills out to the rest of the world for them to use. And the mechanism for that is that the overvalued USD boosts Americans' import power, reduces Americans' low-margin export competiveness, and basically forces open that trade deficit.
That trade deficit is the cost of maintaining the benefits USD system as currently structured. The fatal flaw is that those who bear the cost (e.g. industrialists in the Rust Belt) are not the same as those to gain the benefits (e.g. Wall Street and Washington DC folks). And those costs and benefits accumulate over decades, resulting in rising populism and pushback, which is now front and center.
The challenge that the administration faces is that they have identified a real problem, but are tackling the surface issues rather than the underlying structural issues.

LOL, funny but totally absurd. Trump’s tariffs may work in the end, or they may not, but this is a poor “theory of mind” for someone who was elected president twice over the all-in objection of the most powerful factions in the world.
The idea he’s some total idiot is not just wrong, it’s moronic. He’s done lot of things in his life, had a lot of success (and some failure).
To believe he’d just destroy his legacy and his country over trying to “look tough” is not grappling with reality. He has a reason to believe what he believes — he’s been talking about trade imbalances for at least 30 years — and again, I have no idea whether his plan will succeed or fail.
But he has *some* credible plan, and he is the only president even attempting to deal with the $36T debt crisis in any way. I’m giving him a shot, and in any event the $11T in paper wealth is not real wealth anyway.
