it lasts longer without freezer burn if all air is removed. freezer burn is dehydration.
if I don't remember buying it, I get rid of it.

- how civil service jobs and pensions drain tax dollars and deliver nothing
those are concrete reasons. saying we need change without backing up why is pointless. you are not pointless.
I think you want to help. Take up all those points and know them inside out, including the Liberal arguments they use against them and you win every argument with a Liberal or they lose it and freak out.
that is how to change it.

green (fermented) pu-erh (polei/bolei in Cantonese) tea
{erh is pronounced er as in her, not air as in hair}
green pu-erh is fermented, the cooked kind is a different process and doesn't develop the same over time. neither is 'green tea' like dragon well or sencha, green pu-erh refers to the natural uncooked process of fermentation. cooked pu-erh is heated up to rush it and suffers the same fate as other rushed products, lack of depth.
(both of these are pre 2000, its sadly 99% fakes after that)
the bricks were bought a long time ago by Mm-Tai (Mrs. Ng) from a warehouse in China. she would often mix a chunk of one of the green bricks with some cooked pu-erh. the green bricks are as hard as a brick, and therefore difficult to open (break into chunks)
i have 2 cupboards full of these. they ripen with age. some i don't drink yet because they should be 30-40+ years old first. pu-erh tea improves with age like some wines that can be kept for a long time.
i don't know who gets the collection when i croak 🤣

my baby boomer parents got their original house in the 1960s for under 15k $ CDN
they sold it for a lot bought a better one, sold that for at least 300k in the early 90s and downsized.
my husband and I started off with a house in the late 90s for way too much money and no help from either of our parents and still have a mortgage. he will be working til he is 70, at least. my parents had no mortgage by their 40s, did not help me or my brother, and wasted money on gambling trips to Nevada, the casino at home in BC, boozing, and overconsumption of everything they could. one is still alive, the other is dead.
meanwhile in the late 80s and early 90s, GenX young adults walked into a work force dominated by baby boomers who had all the jobs. many of us had to wait to get started.
It's worse for Millennials but both are suffering from the results of the most ignorant, entitled and wasteful generation.
thankfully I spent a lot of time with my grandparents and other family who were adults during the wars.
the current devaluation of money due to heavy government spending to support social programs the baby boomers set up is appalling.
I suppose I could be bitter about it but I am not. It's just the situation that we have as a result of people's choices from before. that doesn't excuse the extreme selfishness of baby boomers. it is how it looks. most of them won't admit what they have created, at least the baby boomers that I have known won't.
my grandparents on my mother's side saw the writing on the wall, spoke out about it, and warned their kids. i listened. my parents did not.
the best generation followed by the worst.
don't rely on most genXers either. most that I know are more like my parents than I ever was or will be. my genX neighbours are mostly appalling, and routinely say things like "I'd rather not know", when confronted with reality. just like their baby boomer parents.
taking responsibility is the beginning. copping to our own part we play in the world is important.

Background: My husband and I have bought Canadian products for years, almost 30 years now. As much as possible as local as possible. We have said to people that if we all do that then the price of Canadian products will be lower. We have said to people to support Canadian businesses. People laughed, said rude things... blah blah. I'm working on a master study/copy of "Patroclus" by Jacques-Louis David now. I'm painting on canvas that I prepared by gessoing with a rough texture since the background of the origibal painting is a rocky background. I ragged a reddish color to start since the original has a lot of red tones. This afternoon, I transferred the image with charcoal and painted in the outlines and blocked in the darks with burnt umber. This painting is significantly larger than the last one. I'm aiming for late summer to early fall to complete it.

I am sick to death of people shilling 3-liners as haiku. They are not.
I don't care what people write. Write it. But call it what it is.
Haiku is not a 3 liner nor is it 5-7-5.
I made a badge for haikustr. I've quietly given it to 4 people on here who wrote actual haikus. Either they paid attention to my writing, read haïkus and studied up on it, or whatever. They made the effort.
It is insulting to artists who have taken up the art and practice of poetry and writing.
This trash harms serious artists and writers by diluting the meaning of what haiku is.
I write and share openly my daily practice of haiku and share my poetry and other writing. It takes immense effort to write and I ask for nothing in return. I am now considering leaving. I'm quite happy I have kept my trad website alive as an exit strategy if needed.
