Nostr currently has ~14k-32k users. It’s great being here with the freaks. There isn’t as much pressure to be an influencer. You’re free to be more genuine and weird. There’s probably extreme alpha here too, but people from the outside wouldn’t even think to look. Everyone is so radically individualistic that much of what’s said here wouldn’t compute to a collectivist, polite-society outsider.

Fun, inconvenient observation: As CO2 increases, the stomata on plant leaves don’t need to open as much to intake CO2, which also means that the plant retains more H2O. More H2O retainment means that plants can survive in more arid environments. Which means that plants can encroach further into deserts. More CO2 = de-desertification. Very inconvenient for CO2 alarmists.

I am not a doctor, or a specialist.. but my lower back pain went away after I got the connection between my not strong enough ankles, influencing my knees and so hip and lower back. Of course a lot derived from the foot and shoes itself..

I'm probably on your side in general on this issue, but it's unhelpful to misrepresent the actual arguments. I've never heard anyone argue that 0% CO2 on the planet is the goal or even a good thing. There are a few anti-human nuts who actually do just want us all to die (still wouldn't take us to 0%), but I see that as an extreme minority.
There is a point at which too much CO2 would kill us. You can cover your head with an airtight plastic bag and prove that. The question is whether current levels are as emergent as people claim (I have doubts).
The protected tag is a relatively new feature that clients may have slowly been adding. I think it was originally thought up for the sake of lockbox and zapbox relays, so that there could be kind 1 and other standard note types that could be published to a specific relay that only a select group could read from. This would be more private than publishing to public relays that anyone can read from, but less private than encrypting the content.

Looks like that wot relay is dead or not connecting. You follow ~1200 people. Many relays start to have trouble when that number gets over 800. You can now have multiple lists in Amethyst, a good way to keep the main follow list smaller.
Following that many people it's highly likely some of them no longer use Nostr. Definitely check that out.

2 common things I see with people who have issues with Amethyst crashing is either they follow a large amount of people, or they have too many inbox/outbox relays set up.
For the user list plebs vs zombies can help clear out dead users. For the second issue cutting back to 3 or 4 relays for inbox & outbox will help.

My guess is that if the client has a feature to specify a particular relay to post to, rather than posting to your outbox relays like normal, it probably adds that tag, assuming that you ONLY want the note to exist on that relay. Generally a safe assumption, except in this case.

Tollgate is a different product entirely, since it is the user paying the wifi provider directly. There's no reason someone couldn't create something similar to what you described, where the cell phone company pays the wifi provider in Bitcoin whenever their customers use the wifi, though.

Time and energy verified is the most natural foundation. Silver vs gold already played out. Gold failed when paper money was created. Bitcoin is now naturally winning. Slowly then suddenly.
There's still sometimes spam / porn that leaks in through hashtags, but just make sure to report it and the relay runners are very good with removing it. I found people by looking through hashtags, and also by switching to the conversation mode so I was seeing not just what the people I follow post but what they were replying to.
That mode is like lurking and sneaking into someone else's conversation though so I've had some folks imply it's a bit creepy. But haters gonna hate no matter what and it is a good way to get more exposure to real people users on Nostr.
If you start to see too much spam or porn or whatever look into switching up your relays. More popular relays that act as the starter pack will get spammed more. Less popular relays will have more real people and you wouldn't see their content unless you're also in their relay.
It's all complicated and annoying but that's the price of freedom 🤣 and eventually you'll get used to it 🥰

The main problem is that a lot of Lightning, ecash, etc. wallets allow you to associate an nsec to unlock the wallet. Not many people pasting their nsecs into random vibecoded apps are security-conscious enough to use a separate Nostr key, so if one of those vibecoded apps leaks nsecs, you can pretty much scan the respective lud16 for half a dozen popular wallet domains and, more likely than not, hit the BTC jackpot.

I just sent an audio note, a picture, and then e-cash to a friend over bitchat all while OFFLINE.
Receiving the e-cash required internet connection, but everything else was bluetooth only.

The material has to be extremely thin, .5mm or less, and I have used .2mm thick aluminum previously. The aluminum usually comes in small sheets and is anodized or treated somehow with different colors.
The details:
33mm outside diameter circle
2.2mm diameter hole in center for the watch hands.

Yup, if you have the technical know-how, then going the terminal install and manual configuration route is best. I installed HAVEN that way for this npub, and would happily do so again.
It's nice to have a more approachable version for less technical users, though. It would be great if more Nostr users were running their own personal relays for more than just keeping a backup copy of their notes.

Not sure how Nosotros works on the back end, whether it has the outbox model implemented, etc. I expect it at least reads from your preferred write relays when looking for your follow list, which means it shouldn't have issues with erasing previous follows like Primal often does. Depends. Do you trust the random cashu mint more or less than the lightning custodian?
They're both custodial, and therefore have counterparty risk. You are holding nothing more than an IOU in either case. Cashu is more private, because it uses ecash rather than a simple internal account system like custodial lightning, but that privacy doesn't automatically make the mint more trustworthy. Just means the concern with the mint is that they will rug everyone, while the concern with custodial lightning is that they could rug everyone using their service, or they could rug a particular account of their choice.
Either way, you are gambling on whether some random mint, that anyone with an ounce of technical know-how can spin up easily, is trustworthy, vs a lightning custodian that is typically a bigger barrier to entry, and which often has a brand reputation at stake, at least more than the average Cashu mint.
So, as with pretty well everything in this space, there are tradeoffs, not clear solutions.

Use a client that reads from your actual relays for following people. Seems like you already figured out that Amethyst is much better for this.
The "add a bunch of relays so you get more reach" is a leftover mentality from when relays were quite basic and general purpose. Now we have the outbox model in many clients, so that even if those who follow you haven't selected ANY relays you are writing to as "read" relays, they will still see your notes, because their client will look for your relay list and pull your notes from the relays YOU say that you write to.
Additionally, many folks are reading from relays that aggregate notes from other relays, after filtering for spam, such as nostr.wine, or nostr.land, or even their own Web-of-Trust relay. You don't need to actively post to these relays, as they will pull your notes in from wherever you are writing to, so long as you are writing to one of the relays they pull from.
The more relays you have listed as "write" relays, the more places Nostr clients have to look for your notes using the outbox model, slowing down the client and using a LOT of bandwidth. Realistically, after the first 3 or 4 relays, all of the notes received from the rest will almost certainly be duplicates.
If you are concerned that some people who aren't yet following you might not see your notes if they aren't reading from the relays you are posting to, then the answer is to use a blastr relay such as filter.nostr.wine as one of your outbox relays. You can also run your own HAVEN relay, which has a blastr feature. These relays automatically rebroadcast your notes to a set list of relays without those relays needing to be in your relay list.

Looks like your follow list was not well propagated to various relays.
Also, when you follow someone on Primal, a new version of your follow list is created on your chosen "write" relays. However, the Primal app doesn't read from those relays. It only reads from their caching server, which tries to aggregate from all known relays. If you try to follow someone else before your new follow list has been aggregated by Primal's caching server, then it will just keep basing the new follow list it creates on the list it has previously aggregated, without taking any more recent lists into account.

The built-in wallet in KeyChat is ecash, though. I am not sure whether each device would have a separate balance, or if they would have a unified balance. My guess is the former.
And KeyChat is more of a chat app with a web-browser and built in signer & wallet, rather than being a dedicated wallet + signer app like the Alby Extension.
Outside of that, there is not any cross-platform signer+wallet app, though. Particularly not one that works to sign with native apps on all of the devices you mentioned.

well, it's also true what greenart is sayiny is that when app switching, connections tend to get all screwed up (in the browser or maybe amber too, thats why watching the events is helpful, just assume, its not the relays because you tried multiple known working relays aready). So, with this version I can log in using Citrine and the bunker url flow, but still can't with the nostrconnect flow. Amber window now closes, but it seems like things get sorta stuck after that, I.e. clients keep struggling to load timelines, etc.

Nah, nsec is like the password for your Bitwarden or 1password, it is much more than just a password for an individual social media website. And if you have a lightining address it is like throwing your credit cards in the mix as well, you simply shouldn't use it on experimental clients (which is most of Nostr). Yes, reusing your Gmail password on vibecoded sites is bad, and this exactly why people shouldn't do it. The problem is the path not to do it in Nostr is broken.
TL;DR on deVine is that press and some big timer YouTube channels like Linus Tdch ztips got wind of it and a gazillion folks tried to join at once. Basically too many users / too heavy of a worjload for existing relay software and available relays. There was a room with the usual folks trying to provision relays for it (Gleason et all) but if you don't have the infrastructure for the normies to flock in all of the hype is wasted.

Do Nostr clients, like Amethyst (@npub1gcx…nj5z ) support streaming videos using HLS?
I ask because HLS works very well with Blossom, as the adaptive-bitrate logic is all clientside, and I'm making progress with a video player that pays the Blossom server via a Cashu Spilman Channel (see below for the channel thing), sending a signature for the updated 'commitment transaction' in each HTTP request to Blossom. The Blossom update seems easy to do so far, I'm making good progress adjusting Blossom for the payments
So I hope that Amethyst supports HLS already for playing videos in notes, as then I'll make a PR to Amethyst to include the channel payment system 😀.

We unfortunately have 200 other problems to solve besides NIP-47, starting with Nostr content and the attitude towards non-bitcoiners, but this is a big one for sure. I don’t think most folks are ready to move to totally ephemeral pubkeys, and reusing nsecs across experimental, increasingly vibecoded clients is just... dangerous... Nostr really needs to get the basics done right. As a community, we have wasted so many opportunities to scale Nostr already.
I joined about a year and a half ago, during one of the many huge waves of people quitting Twitter. Since then we have lost at least three other opportunities to grow. The last one was the hype around @nprofile…62p3’s deVine stuff. Every time one of the non-BTC Twitter experiments shows some promise, Nostr seems to crap its pants.
We really, really need to get the basics right for Nostr to have any chance. I don’t think lightning will keep striking the same place over and over again, and we may not get many more opportunities to make Nostr scale.

They could... We could. ActivityPub folks did it with as little or even less resources than Nostr, and their protocol was just as bad in the early days, constantly self DDOising. Nostr is at what, 10k to 20k active daily users? Peaks of a few dozen kind 1 notes per second maybe? If the underlying architecture was sound this wouldn't be resource intensive and hard to serve at all.
I could even argue that ActivityPub architecture is much more complex than a bunch of signed json payloads over websockets. If it can scale so does Nostr. The difference, other than time, is that tbey have a more mature and diverse community of FOSS devs there. Also, there isn't an overly dominant community there like the BTC folks on Nostr. I feel like a lot of folks here want it to remain a tiny BTC Twitter bubble.

I setup all the apps (qbit, prowlarr, radarr, sonarr, lidarr). I requested a few movies with radarr. I get a download warning: qbittorrent is reporting an error. When I check the logs in qbit, I see “error:read-only file system”. How do I fix this? I set acl permissions to modify access in radarr, sonarr, lidarr and qbit, for downloads folder and the respective media folder

This one seems very likely to be a bug on Amber by elimination (i.e. everything works together as long as Amber isn’t in the flow). Nak can act as a bunker on its own, but it’s a major hassle to use it on mobile, as it means having my VPN on and SSHing into my linux box to retrieve bunker URLs when I’m outside my network. Plus, running Amber and Citrine locally is the only way I know of for remote signing to work even relatively well, as NIP-46 is extremely sensitive to latency. Even the latency of a WireGuard VPN is enough to degrade the experience, with Amethyst becoming absolutely sluggish, almost unusable.

one way to tell where the big is, .. do a nak stream of those events while you sign-in, you should see them flowing into the relay from amber. if you don't see them, then it's a bug in amber. if you *do see them, then it's a bug in the app..

Do to my current living situation I had to pay someone to mount it too. I tried to get it to on my back porch but I couldn't get a clear view of the sky. The app makes it super easy to get the alignment correct.

So, restarting didn't work, downgrading to 4.0.4 worked (sorta).
I can login using the bunker flow and Citrine, it pops up an error about "mute kind something something" but eventually it works.

But even 4.0.4 isn't letting me login with a standard nostrconnect flow which is the only option in some clients out here.

IMO there's definitely a regression here, or rather several, as Amber used to work even with nostrconnect flows for me. Unfortunately I don't have another device to test this. What do you want to do here? Happy to drop this as I'm not even really using Nostr that much anymore, but if you want me to do anything to help you troubleshoot this, happy to DM you logs, grant you remote access or do any other tests you require.

I use it. It's been running for almost a month without any outages. The wife uses it everyday for voice and videos calls. I paid the first month plus the set up fee. Billing was all transparent with no hidden fees.

In nak works because you don't change apps when you connect to it. When you open amber the browser suspends the relay connection and then unsuspend it when you open the page again
If there's no failed to send logs or relay disconnected logs amber is working just fine
Relays should also implement the mute keyword fiatjaf added some months ago so we can always be sure when a client is losing the messages

I had figured that “specific time” or whatever that term is can’t be calculated because the instance that the user is interacting with “begins” at the first prompt and the ai doesn’t have the “bigger picture” unless the user logs in or has some special access.
I didn’t think it was prohibited information - but it makes me wonder how long it would be before someone teaches a means to calculate actual current time to an ai model, since there is plenty of reference material out there to learn from.

I've sent many over past couple days. I'm a bit lazy and usually hit submit without comments. I don't imagine my comments would be all that helpful anyway.
Going to a user profile or a hashtag feed seems to be main precursor to crashes. I'll notice app get very laggy, and soon after it'll be stuck and either crash right then, or I'll quit and see crash message when I reopen. It's also been bad about loading pfps in general.
The worst case I had was yesterday morning; after a crash I could not reopen the ap at all. It would crash instantly before even displaying on my phone. I must have trued a dozen times, and even rebooted phone. Had to delete and reinstall ap to get it to open for me.
Not complaining, just curious if it's a me-thing or generally happening a lot with others.

I know it doesn't need liquid cooling, I need 150w or so of water getting heated. Right now it looks like the octaxe isn't available from any reputable dealer and will cost 3x the Canaan.
Any other recommendations for a liquid cooled 150w or so miner are welcome. It is a heat application replacing a big dumb resistor but still looking to get a little more w/th than an S9 can offer. The qaxe looks great but only 70w and it costs more than the Avalon, looking at 3x the up front for the same W of heat and maybe slightly better hash rate.

I am definitely a fan of a strong defense being an effective deterrent. That was Western Germany and it worked. If you do not invest enough in defense, you will gain adversaries. You should not wait until the barbarians are at the gates and then scrounge around for bows and arrows. Those bows and arrows have to be ready _before_ the barbarians arrive. And you need to have archers, who are trained to use them. That takes years. You have to be ready years before anyone makes a move.
I also think there is no higher form of cowardice and shamelessness than expecting foreigners to protect you, while you lounge around and wax poetic about world peace, climate change, feminist diplomacy, and how you want to spend the money you save on defense on more vacation days, vegan school lunches, and free bus tickets. As the European NATO has done for decades, with the USA. I think that is incredibly outrageous behavior and the US Presidents have _all_ complained about it, and their complaints are entirely justified.
The only reason they haven't abandoned us, entirely, in exasperation, is because of countries like Poland and the Scandinavians.

Loaf Pound Cake:

3 eggs
