The ETH comment is the end result I forsee when the spammers use the witness anyway when Nodes start pruning OP_RETURN. I don't know where I lied exactly but I take your word that I wasn't clear either.
A year and a half ago there was an initiative to fix the filters but that was pushed aside as "censorship" so, that's perhaps why we never solved the monkey sharing problem.
Regardless, I think we see each other's postion we just disagree on outcome which neither of us know.

There is no way (outside of using DATUM) to filter that spam in the witness. Period. So, all of what you said is conjecture. They are CHOOSING to use OP_RETURN, that is non-binding. Which given a toggle is my perogative. Also, as I said before no single node has an accurate view of pending transactions. So having a few less transactions in my mempool is no different now than it was before.
My goal as far as you are aware is to filter my mempool. Spam on valid blocks is an inevitability but their proliferation using my broadcast node is not.
"On-chain" is what the Miners and Nodes agree is on-chain. We will see what a less performant Ethereum gets you, but I don't think this concession will work out the way you hope it will.

"Run a node" your node's policy is what tells the miners what transactions are to be added. Spam reduction is from a majority setting limits on data carrier fields.
You can never prevent all spam but you can make it difficult and expensive.
That's what protection means. A fence doesn't mean no trespassers. It means a reduction in trespassers who can't overcome the cost.

As far as I can tell with SafePal, you can use the swap feature after adding Bitcoin as an asset to the main wallet. Tether does not have a mnemonic phrase so, he would have to set one up for his Bitcoin. WRITE IT DOWN.
Then after the USDT is swapped for BTC he can reconstitute that wallet on better more secure software.
Then he can create a new wallet (if the swap wallet is compromised) and transfer to an address HE owns.

Censorship is inherent to every node. If not explicit, the hardware limitation itself censors transactions.
It feels like the conflation of censorship resistance and personal sovereignty is being done in bad faith.
Rational people understand that you don't have to accept someone insulting you in your home because that space is yours to do with as you wish. That limitation IS censorship.
It is not the same as censorship as way of permission. The network is resistant to centralization of permission, not that permission doesn't exist on an individual's node.

Because Bitcoin is not a distributed data storage service. It is a monetary network for monetary transactions. Paying a fake key IS a financial transaction at the end of the day. If I pay a shell company for items that I never receive I still paid it.
Preventing spam is not the point anyway, it is this strange reframing of "We are taking away a config option which gives you more freedom"

As for the cost, yes it does. If the only way to propagate spam was to have a sidechannel to a miner that is socially coslty, technically costly, and still block weight costly.
If every peer you connect to rejects your transactions as invalid by not keeping it in their mempool, that make it a time and opportunity cost as well.
This always smack of the little girl throwing fish back into the ocean that washed ashore. She'll never be able to save them all but that's not the point. The ones she did save are grateful. Never tell anyone that doing what they believe has "little point" because it alone doesn't fix the problem. It is the agregate actions of many that do.

It's so funny I feel like we are saying the same thing at different times.
My point is that if I run code that I agree with my mempool doesn't propagate things I consider to be spam. I have no illusions that if a miner mines a valid block with transactions I dislike, I will still have to store that block in my UTXO set. But the choice of not propagating trash is what is up for debate here not the bounds of a valid transaction in the block.

That is already the case with node mempools, no? My mempool doesn't accept over 80 bytes in OP_RETURN data. Other peers do. My node finds those transactions invalid.
The implementation that has a bug is the same as a Core node that accepts 400k bytes of data in a trasaction to my node.

You are misunderstanding consensus in this context. Consensus is not something that will "still be in my blockchain data and utxo set" the nodes dictate valid. Miners offer candidates based on the CONSENSUS of the nodes they pull the previous transaction blocks from. Which is determined by the CONFIGURED ruleset.

It's nothing to do with UTXO bloat. It is the ability to control what you accept as valid on your computer. The UTXO set expansion does have limitations but it is the height of arrogance to think you know what the future holds with any clarity.
The crux of the argument is:
If I can't "Code my own" implementation do I have the right to configure what my node accepts as valid?
If no, then why is it right that the Bitcoin Network "censors" Ethereum transactions as "invalid" they paid for space on the block in ETH, why does every node reject it?
The only answer with any ethical consistency with "A permissionless money" is allow nodes to filter transactions or not depending on their preference.

Well, when I sell my services there's a surcharge for having me convert fiat into real money. First the credit processing fee then another 2-3% to cover the conversion spread on the exchange I convert to bitcoin on.
