The idea behind putting handlers with nprofile and such might be that there are clients that don't render profile metadata(rarer case perhaps) or even kind1s like in my case.
My app creates a feed of freelance tickets instead of a kind1 feed.
However, I could implement mechanics to jump to a different client to render kind1s under certain conditions or an iframe to render any event that references my freelance ticket/offer.
Not sure, just thinking out loud.

You can't read from blastr type of relays. They are proxies, talking to other relays.
I write the type of data you mention to blastr relays in addition to user write relays and, for extra safety, "bootstrap" relays like purplepages.
But I don't read this metadata from relay proxies, only from bootstrap and user write relays.

I wonder that this is because the user might want to get the proofs in the preferred unit or denomination.
So best to avoid checking a bunch of stuff about the Proofs and just get a new Token with said proofs according to exact receiver preferences.

Removing the last byte of the p2pk seems to be a bug caused by the tricky splice(start, end) fn, start being inclusive, end being _exclusive_ . Removal of the padding is '02' is fair enough.

### Nostr is Signal
We live in a world where noise dominates most people's lives through social media and Big-Tech services. So they divide us and conquer. They sell our data and attention to the highest bidder. Interestingly, bidders aren't better off for this deal. Quite the opposite.
Bringing products and services to the right audience is hard.
Companies struggle to find their customers and so they succumb to the attention-harvesting Big-Tech. They play the ad game. They also add to the noise level exacerbating the situation.
"It's for survival, it's do or die" - they say.
Really, it's just short-term hopium that tightens their bond to their master.
The vicious cycle continues.
Subvertising.
Nostr solves this. I firmly believe that.
It destroys greedy middle-men and HELPS FIND SIGNAL. Your reputation on nostr cannot be stopped or destroyed. It lives on as long as those signed nostr notes can be broadcasted from anywhere in the world and your web of trust is listening.
They just fetch your relay list and the magic happens. It's so simple.
Back to history:
Discovery went from word of mouth to newspapers and billboards, then TV and now it is captured by Big-Tech search and social media platforms. It is the same path fiat took:
1. Word of mouth was the golden era
2. Paper was introduced, enhancing reach, but lessening the need for the personal touch, diluting our connections
3. We started living in small apartments in big cities, isolated, staring at the TV all day, watching commercials, filling our brain with clutter. This can be compared to the Telegraph era of money, in the early 20th century. The slope steepens.
4. The advent of the internet and smart phones cut the last ties of real connections people had: You take the noise with you even when you venture outside your tiny pod. It's the 1971-style fiat rug. It was inevitable. The slope was there and we stepped on it and slid.
We needed to go down the painful path I believe. It's the meaning crisis. It's the ideological zombie hordes. It's the unbearable noise of all this, with now AI on top. Perfect storm. If Nostr had a blockchain(lol) it should inscribe something like this in the genesis block:
"ELON MUSK INTRODUCING NEW AI ON X, FORMERLY TWITTER"
But we know what happens when it's darkest. That's when heroes arise.
We can't go back to just physical word of mouth anymore, just like we can't go back on a Gold Standard. Even if we tried it's unfeasible, and we come to understand that all these deformed, perverted ways like fiat and Big-Tech platforms solved real problems initially. Those problems don't go away just because we go back to stone age. However, we can learn from mistakes made in the past. We can come clean. We can start over. It's never too late.
It's time to embrace nostr. It's hard at first encounter. You don't know wtf you are doing. What are relays? What do you mean by "signed notes"? And most importantly, why doesn't this shit work like a decent app? If you read so far I can tell you a story: My name is Five because as a software engineer I was fking clueless about how to even use clients back when I started. The name comes from an accidental profile setting in whatever broken client. Don't let your path to truth and signal be a flash in the pan. By endurance we conquer(a tagline of Sovereign Engineering).
I believe through nostr we can go back to the idea of word-of-mouth in the digital era. Some call it the localized internet. We can create experiences that come as close as we can get to physical interactions. Nostr is the language of freedom. The identity that serves you instead of exploiting you.
And it's cool as fuck.

#Nostr is becoming something truly beautiful.
A diverse ecosystem of specs, apps, relays and most importantly: people.
I love it because it's just like nature:
Simple yet chaotic: Strong primitives with unbound room for creativity.
People with an open mind will thrive here because just like in nature, many decisions are pushed to the margins:
- The spec should leave as much room for the app developer as possible
- The app developer should give the user as much freedom and agency as possible
The Cathedral-builder mindset will not thrive in nostr but can thrive building on #bitcoin.
Nostr and Bitcoin are Yin and Yang.
They together form a better world.

In the process of getting ecash payments into SatShoot!
@nprofile…qdrm If I remember correctly, an earlier version of the spec had a section about encrypting privkey with passphrase.
Now it's just nip44 which is just encrypting to my own nsec.
Guess I can still double-encrypt but what is the threat model in this version of the spec?
If app has access to nsec directly or indirectly via nsecbunker it can basically steal the ecash right?
I am thinking of ways to communicate caveats to users effectively in SatShoot.

Guess:
Decryption tricked me once in ndk because sender and receiver pubkey namings can be confusing.
You always need to decrypt with providing the recipient pubkey(p-tag) and the PEER pubkey.
This "peer pubkey" could be your user (your user sent a message) OR another user (p-tag refers to YOUR user as recipient and someone sent your user a message).
I had to check which is which to get it right.

The content creator economy will come to nostr eventually. But needs time and FOCUSED effort.
I believe that we often talk about things not being private or decentralized enough but fail to acknowledge that real life is not perfect. We gotta solve a problem that exists with a 10x improvement FOR SOME PPL. NOT EVERYONE. Just enough to sustain operations.
In this context UX is less pressing of an issue but there is no excuse for making mistakes on rudimentary things:
MOST NOSTR APPS LACK BASIC USABILITY. PERIOD.
Let's do our best and don't fool ourselves. We can improve. We can also get help to progress faster. That's what I do on multiple fronts at this point.
It only takes one app to solve a problem with 10x improvement. Others will follow suit. But I have given up always trying to adhere to newest protocol "trends" because I have a problem to solve.
Nip04 dm-s being one example. In my app users connect via the Deal-process anyway. I'm prompting users to execute contracts elsewhere. Good enough to me FOR NOW. This is how we get results. Getting the crucial stuff right, not spreading ourselves thin.
Last but not least, *most* content creators clearly don't have a crucial problem. They are just complaining every now and then. We need to seek out those who might have vested interest in a no-bs, more Freedom-oriented solution. @nprofile…fd8d told about ppl with humongous followings. That's NOT the criteria I would look for.

Listening to the Thank God for Nostr pod made me realize why I never got into social media. @nprofile…ph8a had profound insights:
People don't need to know what I'm doing in my everyday life. They don't care, or it's pretty scary if they do.
My family perhaps cares but I can tell them personally about my day when I arrive home from work and I can tell my broader family and friends about how I am doing when we catch up at gatherings.
Social media however is NOT the same as sharing a truly interesting finding or asking for professional advice for example.
I am on nostr to find the signal I need to live a better and more successful life.
NOT TO CHECK OUT PEOPLES' PERSONAL SHIT.
This is something Jimmy put his fingers on really nicely. Social media sucks. And we'll never beat Big Tech in their own game, oh no.
A question to #nostr developers:
YOU REALLY THINK PEOPLE WATCHING CAT VIDEOS ALL DAY WILL CARE ABOUT NOSTR?
Answer this question honestly to yourselves. And act accordingly.

Ecash is not crypto. It's a minted token backed by anything.
People will choose their preferred mint backed by their preferred money.
They can use Keychat with any money that has a custodian running a Cashu mint. Even a mixture of different assets while we're at it.
It's just that now bitcoin-backed Cashu still dominates.

An excellent thought!
I think linking the Contract negotiation (ie SatShoot) to the actual problem (expressed in git issues in this case) would be doable with an e-tag pointing to a kind 1621 from a SatShoot Ticket(kind 32767).
As a left-side-of-the-bell-curve approach I would just copy paste URL-s pointing to GitHub AND Gitworkshop.dev if I can make it work, the repo is already available there.
GitHub is certainly quite advanced in UI around issues but doing it in parallel then maybe also switching would be a great win! PRs already work with ngit as I tested it with nostrapps.com .
Will look into this!

## Devs Alert!
Let's try this experiment:
I'm going to try to boost productivity of the development of [SatShoot](https://satshoot.com) this way:
1. Will create Tickets in SatShoot pointing to [GitHub issues](https://github.com/Pleb5/satshoot/issues)
2. Share it as kind1 for everyone to see
3. Waiting for aspiring open-source devs to bid on these issues in SatShoot
Why not just post bounties you may ask?
I don't believe bounties are a good way to incentivize development.
You start to work on sth and _hope_ to win the bounty. If you don't win you don't make money, your time is mostly wasted. Only one person or team can win because that's easier to handle for the poster of the bounty. So you don't bother, it's too much risk.
You need the precommitment from the job poster but he needs competition to hire the best dev available. This is why contract negotiation works better than bounties.
However, you can get the competitive nature of bounties with SatShoot: Everyone interested will bid on the Ticket. You can negotiate with the potential Client in DM and even edit things until you come to agreement BUT ANYONE CAN BID on Tickets as long as they are NOT taken. Competition and contract negotiation.
A Ticket in SatShoot is essentially a Request For Quote and an Offer is a Bid or a Quote to solve that problem. I think this model captures best what nostr is about:
Open competition in an Unstoppable market fueled by freedom tech.
What do you guys think? Let me know and I'll be excited to run this experiment!

Do better. Build better. I believe that betting on business models with long time-preference incentives will work out better eventually:
- Open source therefore verifiable, remixable, viral. More eyes on it, the better.
- Brand ~ Reputation is still big and here to stay. Think about Your reputation as a business or entrepreneur, but also the reputation of users - status matters and you better make use of this.
- Centralized but optional ancillary services. This is NOT freemium. This is standards-based(eg DVM) free market of extra features that some users might find useful but they can choose any service they like. No vendor lock-in

Good question.
I think the answer lies in the fact that you handle your own identities on nostr and you can create as many npubs for different purposes as you like.
It's your choice how much you share this way. Even more so if you use relays to segment your data into public and protected notes.
There are many technicalities to this but the basic point is that nostr gives you the choice as a service provider to empower your users while you don't suffer from the disadvantages of purely p2p architecture.

Been doing stress tests on [SatShoot](https://satshoot.com) lately and on mobile there have been challenges with websocket connections.
If the app gets in the background because e.g. device is locked then on Android all connections are dropped after just minutes and #ndk cannot recover from that unless page is reloaded or app is restarted. In my app this is pretty bad because live updates are crucial for freelancers and their clients. Could only solve this with nasty hacks and I am looking for elegant solutions.
I also tested some other clients with adb how they perform under these conditions. Most had the same issues.
Only #nostrudel from @nprofile…69jx and #coracle from @nprofile…9zgs and #primal (on web) from @nprofile…mqq0 were able to recover relay connections from under severe resource constraints it seems.
What's your secret sauce guys? :)

On second thought nip51 might be an overkill. We have to fundamentally rely on ppl not deleting their kind 10002 relays from the whole network.
If you have those redundantly disseminated then you just query those and then the announcement events for repos, wallets, blossom servers etc. with the relay hints if applicable.

The best would be to package ngit and git-remote-nostr with nix and publish it to github. [Hydra](https://github.com/NixOS/hydra) can help with CI too.
This way it will be available on nixos.org and easily searchable and be included in a nix config.
Also publishing something nix-bitcoin does like a configurable, modularized template helps a lot. It's a lot of work though.

'~/.cargo/bin'
What worked was
'$HOME/.cargo/bin'
I don't actually know why but in the shell everything seemed fine I could invoke the command but git could not access it the first way.

You might be right... I setup the binary cargo installed in the devshell flake not in the configuration.nix where the git package is defined on the nixOS level.

"git remote-<transport>"
I guess that should be the mechanism git-remote-nostr is using but I haven’t checked your code.

## Native git commands failing with git-remote-nostr
I was able to make ngit work and the SatShoot repo was pushed to Gitworkshop.dev.
However, when I try to use git fetch or push or clone native commands with the remote that is configured with the nostr:// URL, git complains with "git: 'remote-nostr' is not a git command. See 'git --help'. " error message.
Other details:
- I installed ngit and git-remote-nostr with cargo and they are recognized on $PATH
- I am using a nix devshell setup with the 'GIT_REMOTE_HELPERS' env variable exported correctly with the 'nostr' string added next to other built-in transfer protocols.
What could be wrong and how to make this work?

Hey @nprofile…crvd I am trying to submit [SatShoot](https://SatShoot.com) to @nprofile…cy6q 's nostrapps.com project via #ngit.
I installed ngit and cloned the repo with fiatjaf's https URL but then set the remote url to nostr://[repo-details] .
Then created my new pr branch and committed my app's details.
The problem is when I try to submit the PR with 'ngit send'. You most likely are not using the relay defined in the repo's 30617 event (wss://git.fiatjaf.com) and the result is:
'Error, no repo events at specified coordinates' .
I am basing this on the fact that I see the relays it tries to fetch the repo event from and neither of them is the correct one.
I am not entirely sure I do everything right but this seems to be the problem. Can you help me out here?
After this I want to push SatShoot with ngit as well.

I think the strongest incentive for nostr comes from the "own your audience" or better put "own your connections".
This comes from owning your online identity.
Nostr will be the only place where you will be able to build a reputation that lasts FOREVER.
Comms need to be directed towards people with something to offer: Serious content creators, businesses, freelancers, open-source project leaders etc. They have skin in the game as they will ALWAYS lose their hard-earned reputation until they realize, on nostr your connections i.e. your reputation cannot be rugged. Don't waste your time on silly normies with nothing to gain, nothing to lose.
So the message becomes:
"If you start to build your audience on nostr apps you will make compounded gains without the fear of rugpull - Otherwise you will be left behind by people who made that choice earlier.
