In short, too many calories
Secondary is this idea that fat and meat is bad, but eating meat is the best way to actually feel full and satiated. Without them you end up stuffing yourself with empty carbs (which is sugar) and never feel satisfied.
But I am preaching to the choir here, its actually very rare to find an obese bitcoiner.

Yes, but then I will be getting zapped from people's tor nodes they run as a hobby from their houses. This is the main source of stuck htlcs. Been burned too many times I've learned my lesson already. Much rather just use a custodian for zaps
Results are not linear, at least for most things. You put in 3 years into rock climbing and improve a lot. Then you put 3 more in and improve very little. Then you put in another year and you find yourself doing things you didn't dream of doing.
We like linearity. It's put in this much effort, get these predictable outcomes. Put in a little more effort, get a little better outcomes. What dirves us crazy is putting in a lot of effort and not seeing results. It's discouraging if not devastating.
But the world is non-linear and the curve of effort and time vs results is maddeningly unpredictable, so we make artificial linear outcomes. This is why jobs are so popular. They don't require specific outcomes, but pay based on time put in. And why entrepreneurialism is so scary, the results are non-linear.
This desire for predictability is at the heart of why people tolerate fiat money. Central banks promise some level of normalcy in return for continuous theft. Sadly, all that volatility just gets built up until it explodes some place as hyperinflation, war or worse.
So embrace non-linearity. If you're on here in a sense you already have. Bitcoin price is very non-linear and so is post engagement. But embrace it more. Because the wins are worth it and because it's more in alignment with reality.

It's right on schedule based on previous cycles around halvenings. If anything the political timing may well have to do with politicians noticing that and looking for some memory of prescience. Also, Satoshi timing things to coincide with US election years was either genius, or ridiculously coincidental.

You're one of the higher zapped guys I follow, and your 4 month zap number is regularly hit on single episodes of v4v podcasts with fewer than 500 listeners.

Now with Podcasting 2.0 where the culture actually understands what value means, f you tap into that model and scene and culture I think you'd have a node paid for in no time.
The cost/time associated with running a node is absolutely negligible, though. People act like it's a full-time job. It's not. I spend more time constantly clearing out my email inbox than I do fussing over my node.
As far as risk, custodial services being lower risk is laughable to me.

昨天我做了个梦，梦到古人做金字塔的方法，就是把金字塔周边围起来，形成一个堰塞湖，通过水运把石头，运到地点，放好一层；然后放水，水位提高，就可以划船进去第二层放满，然后再提高水位，往复循环，直到放到塔顶。最后把堰塞湖水放完，一个金字塔就建成了。。

我们公司招的那个公安系统出来的，真是个人才，100多个同时进行的项目，数十个机房的房租，物业费，项目中的内容还有很多交叉，居然都不会乱，一个个表格清晰展示，我也真是服了。本来想怎么也要请至少3个人，没想到一个人就全干玩了，还把行政，人力招聘，日常采购等工作也都兼了，公务员这个能力，还真是可以的。
马斯克这个政府效率部是很牛x的。马斯克之前说了目标是把政府预算从6.5万亿削减两万亿。美国是分赃政治，以钱管人。所有政治博弈围绕着争取预算。州长、联邦参议院、众议员、各行政系统头头脑脑主要工作就是争取预算。
先不说能不能砍掉两万亿，砍谁不砍谁。只要刀拿起来，各路人马就听话了。而且根本不用一个个裁人。整个部门的预算被取消了，就集体下岗了。
今天看到消息。说是马斯克准备把这事儿上网，让群众来提意见哪些部门行尸走肉，要裁撤。马老师心思太活络了。这么一来，就不是我要搞你，而是群众的呼声。估计某些人的第一步公关方向就是千万不要让我们上热搜。给自己的平台带一波流量都是小意思了。[允悲][允悲]
另外一个关键职位是第二个任命的移民局长，这个回头再说。

@nprofile…gmr8 I was just debating over on twitter with people talking about the idea that Bitcoin is a ponzi scheme, and will go to zero (yes it was comments on one of Peter Schiff's posts), and having read Broken Money, I can only conclude that EVENTUALLY there may be something to the theory (much like how there is no "intrinsic" value to beads, wampum, or tobacco, even though for a time they were perfectly fine money for the situations in which they were used). And it dawned on me -- the blockchain, as it is now anyway, relies upon terrestrial Internet. Space travel, particularly of the interstellar variety, would turn Bitcoin into "broken money," at least for the purposes of that space-faring society.
Of course, you're already in the middle of a book, and perhaps I should be exploring this for myself, but it does strike me that an allegory about this future society wherein Bitcoin meets its obsolesence (or at least finds limitations, much like how gold currently has some, but no longer all, of the aspects of money that it once did), could be an interesting way to illustrate the transition between monetary standards that would allow us to see some of our own dynamics, from a bit more of a distance than we normally get to experience.
Throwing it out there in case you're totally addicted to this book writing business these days. I look forward to seeing what you've got on what you've been working on.

Is there anyone who is *strongly* interested in being an early round beta reader for my sci fi manuscript?
Near-future sci-fi, crime/thriller/cyberpunk. A blend of action and multi-character depth, and moral analysis. The action is key and all, but alpha readers thus far cried at the character aspects; that's what hit them hard enough to care how they would engage with the action.
Strict Requirements for first-stage beta readers:
-I need to know/trust you personally, either in person or very well online with high reputation, to the point that I'd send an unfinished manuscript to you. There's no strict requirements, but if you know, you know.
-You like sci fi and/or fantasy books, and would be happy to read and offer objective (even brutal) feedback on a sci-fi action/crime thriller novel within the next month or two.
-You can comment or DM, for privacy sake.
That's a small group, but I'm putting it here on Nostr first for what I consider my pre-beta or readers. I will then expand 10x on Twitter and elsewhere for my full beta readers.
Meanwhile, I'm in the early revision stage. Manuscripts won't be sent out immediately. I'm still doing revisions and working with alpha readers, but I'm at the stage where I can start *planning* for the next step to see who might be interested to be early beta readers. Nostr folks get the exclusive early notice here.
I do tend to move pretty fast, though.
All pre-beta readers that provide meaningful input would be mentioned in the acknowledgement section, if the book were to be published, which of course I cannot guarantee will happen. I will only publish good books, one way or another.
But like, the alpha readers do like it. ;)

已经网友有私信来问私密民宿怎么运营了。。。民宿最核心问题就是获客，一提到私密民宿马上网友就产生联想了，什么吹牛老爹都出来了。我反正也没什么可隐瞒的，我就说说这个思路。
前不久有个老板抓我去一个私密民宿玩，这个民宿不对外开放，也没有运营资质，因为也不需要，就是老板用来招待自己上下游伙伴，客户用的。主打的就是一个免费。
这年头送东西，已经送不出去了，谁也不敢拿，你把人喊到这里来放松一下（以出差的名义），当然是正当放松，不是那种网友想象的“放松”。也顺便谈个生意，多好。有时候谈生意是真需要一个放松的场合，泡泡温泉，骑骑马，乐呵乐呵，多好。
现在快倒闭的民宿太多了，符合租赁条件的民宿也多，稍微改造一下就可以了。
