I am generally against the ridiculously long terms of "protection" that copyright laws enforce (and I know Disney has been able to stretch that) I honestly cringe knowing how people are going to eff up Mickey Mouse. I can't really speak to other cities because it's not my experience, but I've seen the significant pay differential my employer pays to employees in CA and NY so that should help.
But yeah, I hear a LOT about housing availability issues in large cities. Guess that's always been a problem.

I could buy a house right now for around 100K well within commute distance to STL metro. I see a lot of 20's and 30 yo's buying 4-5 bdrm 3 bath houses and complaining about how much it costs. Our first house was a one bedroom one bath. Our second was a 2 bedroom one bath. Capitalism has grossly warped what young people think of as satisfactory housing. And 13% interest vs 5% is a massive difference in house payment.

Um... I don't know how old pops is or when he bought his first home, but our first home loan in 1979 was 12.9%. Also, the cost of homes was proportionate to income. We were making around $25,000 (BEFORE taxes/ins) and the house cost $60K
There seems to be gross misinformation about what things looked like for the "parents", but the historical information is readily available. It's not economically worse today than it was then. We did have cheaper health ins though.

I think there is still a widely held belief (amongst the white, male, privileged cadre) that sex is a woman's "fault". I think that, particularly for individuals raised in the Catholic church, indoctrination is complete... that the only way to heaven is through the Catholic church.
Even for someone who is questioning their faith and at odds with the church, there will be a strong desire to make sure their child will be welcomed into heaven. Hedging the bet so to speak.
WHY an adult LGBTQ person would choose to be baptized into a church that thinks they're akin to "witches", I can't imagine.

I rarely vote for local judges because for the most part, unless there has been something egregious, there isn't any information available. You can check the bar to see if there are any sanctions or issues but beyond that, it's pretty much a crap shoot. Also, in MO, judgeships are partisan elections. That seems so wrong to me. Aren't the courts at least supposed to *appear* to be unbiased?

I believe the ONLY way he can get elected is for there to be massive election fraud, including corrupting the electoral system (which is already on it's last legs). I have no doubt that many in the #GQP are willing to do it. I hope there are enough not-entirely-crazies to prevent it.
A civil war is not how I am hoping to spend my retirement.

Without massive fraud, there is not a chance in hell that conald will win. He lost last time (and lost the popular vote in 2016) and that was BEFORE his coup attempt , 1/6, and all his lies and bullshite since, plus almost 100 felony indictments.
NOT A CHANCE.
If election fraud on the scale necessary to put him back in the white house occurs, then I believe there will be only 2 options. A shooting war or just abandoning the United States to the fascists.

The only response to this kind of terrorism is for EVERYONE who supports the #LGBTQ community to put up a flag, but instead so many are willing to let the bad guys win. There is a ally less than a 1/4 mile from me who is flying a huge PRIDE flag and has had written death threats put on her car. The police say that putting a note on someone's car isn't against the law. Even my little garden-size PRIDE flag was stolen on 7/4. I got a new one and put it in sight of my camera.

I've been saying this for a LONG time. No one is confused about what the GOP stands for. They know what it is and have chosen to support racism, bigotry, and fascism. Different words might come out of their mouths, but their continued support of the GOP shows us very clearly what they really are. In 2023 there is no supporter of the GOP that can be rehabilitated and we need to stop wasting our time trying. I stopped being willing to run headlong into a brick wall several years ago.

Exactly. I no longer believe in the myth of the "good Republican". At this point, anyone who supports the GOP in any way is untrustworthy and decidedly NOT a "good person". Just because your GOP supporting next door neighbor isn't burning down your house and speaks to you nicely when you meet him at the mailboxes, it doesn't make him a "good person". Anyone who supports racism, bigotry, misogyny and religious (or secular) fascism, either overtly or covertly, is NOT a good person.

I strongly believe that being conciliatory is what has brought us to this point. The role of mediator/helpmate is only responsible when the other side is rational and not using every underhanded, illegal, and unethical means (openly) to force their agenda on the nation in spite of the fact that it is not what the majority supports. I was a conciliator. No more.

LITERALLY ANYONE ELSE with these kinds of serious felony charges against them would be sitting in jail with no bail. (Well, actually anyone else would have already been tried, convicted, and incarcerated). Add to that the fact that he's clearly attempting to intimidate the judge by spurring his kkklan to violent acts, and it seems like throwing his fat orange caboose in jail is a no-brainer. He continues to endanger every single American and our justice system is letting him.

I've given that anomaly some thought (minority voters that support candidates that are clearly racist) and the best explanation I have come up with is that: all communities have individuals who are solely interested in "getting theirs" and once that has been accomplished to their satisfaction, they push others down to force them to "fight and suffer" as they believe they did. Contrary to past societal norms, many believe in making it harder rather than easier for those who come after.
