I think that, particularly for individuals raised in the Catholic church, indoctrination is complete... that the only way to heaven is through the Catholic church.
Even for someone who is questioning their faith and at odds with the church, there will be a strong desire to make sure their child will be welcomed into heaven. Hedging the bet so to speak.
WHY an adult LGBTQ person would choose to be baptized into a church that thinks they're akin to "witches", I can't imagine.
