I've given that anomaly some thought (minority voters that support candidates that are clearly racist) and the best explanation I have come up with is that: all communities have individuals who are solely interested in "getting theirs" and once that has been accomplished to their satisfaction, they push others down to force them to "fight and suffer" as they believe they did. Contrary to past societal norms, many believe in making it harder rather than easier for those who come after.
