to be clear, it's limited by how much can be accessed by digging as gold mining companies are actually able to dig, excluding some giant and unforeseen leap in mining technology.
course the calculation for bitcoin could also be upset by quantum and other technologies, so there's always that x factor.
well no, obviously not. it's limited by how much there is.

Are you discussing kind:3 events? If so, don't worry, jumble will not delete content that is unsupported in kind:3
Thanks! Maybe you just missed some of the messier parts, haha.
That's definitely necessary. You can track this issue here: https://github.com/CodyTseng/jumble/issues/49
I'm always happy to hear user feedback. But I'm also pretty lazy, so I've piled up a lot of issues! 😌
This feature has been on my to-do list for quite a while, haha!
Oof. I accidentally vibe coded myself into a $300+ bill. I did not know it would be that expensive. The app works well though 👀 It's about 85% done. I need to add NWC and zaps and then I'll deploy it.
O chinês me adora, abro vários issues, pago bounties, discuto features, rs. Olha aí uns bounties que já abri: https://app.lightningbounties.com/. Se quiser contribuir com sats, fique a vontade.

Hi @npub1syj…f6wl any chance to be able to reproduce Youtube videos directly on Jumble feed? Thanks.
I haven't watched that in ages. I should give it a viewing again!
The more movies I watch from before ubiquitous CGI, the more I realize how much artistry has been lost. There was more PoW to make a great scene with practical effects, and I find they hold up better.
Can you check the inspector and see if there is something useful? Probably https://github.com/dtonon/nstart/issues is the best place to report a this kind of problems
Thanks
It works for me.
When it does this there is some problem with the connection to the signers (relays), usually a retry fixes the issue. Can you confirm?
This doesn't work:

A browser disguised as a messaging app will become a super app. Keychat is on the right track.
Thanks so much! Jumble has been updated as well. 🙌
You can just share the link from the browser’s address bar.

Waiting for nstart-modal to update
Absolutely right. However, nostr-tools doesn't support, so I'll need to find some time to implement it myself. It might take a little while.
@npub1syj…f6wl A QR code would be a real blessing, tho.
It fails more often, now, than before.
Have refresh multiple times, to see notifications or change the page.
In my opinion, Instagram and YouTube aren’t really super apps. They just have a lot of users. Some Chinese super apps, on the other hand, cater to all your daily needs—messaging, payments, shopping, food delivery, ride-hailing...
I have very few apps on my phone because WeChat meets most of my needs. So I deeply understand that super apps are more likely to be favored by people.
Jumble will ultimately be just a toy for a few, but that's enough.
Most people would choose a feature-rich app over multiple specialized microapps. They want to get everything done in one place, without jumping between different apps. This is the current trend across all applications, not just nostr.
Has the issue improved after nostr-tools started supporting automatic reconnections? Do you still encounter signature failures often?
We are winning.

No. It shows a lack of expectation that they would even care or respond productively.

Google+ was great and more active than Twitter. It failed because Vic Gundotra left and no longer had anyone championing it, IMO. Then they merged several departments together and it all went to shit after the redesign and focus on communities. I had 4M followers there.

We need to look into how to optimize it.
I'm on Android and is very slow too.
I'm using macOS, and the built-in web engine should be Safari, right? I know that Safari is already quite slow. But it actually feels even slower than Safari 🤣
We're currently using WebView, which is the web engine built into the operating system.
Which browser kernel is being used? It feels like the processing speed is a bit slow.

I think the 302 response has a CORS issue, so the browser doesn’t follow the redirect. The CORS tester makes requests from the server, so it won't be stopped by a CORS issue in the 302 response.

I think you're right. I tested several other web clients, and they all threw CORS error. The only one that worked without issues was Coracle, but it seems like it fetches the wallet information server-side rather than directly through the web client.
Nostur "Push" notifications work a bit different from regular Push notifications, it runs on your phone and periodically checks in the background if there are any new things to notify about.
Normal iOS Push notifications requires another service to run somewhere else to check for you and then push a notification to your phone.
The background method Nostur uses is a bit of a hack, it uses something called “App Refresh” that is normally used to make apps appear fast by fetching stuff before you have even opened the app. To save battery your phone learns how often and when you use each app and tries to refresh apps in the background efficiently, Nostur hooks into this to check for notifications.
Practically this means Nostur notifications could be a bit delayed, especially if you almost never open the app, but as a daily driver they work well.
I guess you're using a extension that supports multiple accounts. The actual npub used for posting depends on which npub's private key the signer is using to sign the post. Perhaps I should add an alert dialog when the npub used for posting doesn't match the one displayed on Jumble.
Need to add the Access-Control-Allow-Origin header to allow requests from other origins, otherwise web clients won’t be able to retrieve the wallet information.
Error: 'https://accioly.social/.well-known/lnurlp/anthony' from origin 'https://jumble.social' has been blocked by CORS policy: No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource. If an opaque response serves your needs, set the request's mode to 'no-cors' to fetch the resource with CORS disabled.

emoji reactions or NIP-30?
Just busy watching anime.
I think it’s not quite the right time for that. But if you’d like, you can still post bounties on GitHub issues like before. If a developer is checking out Jumble’s issues, it means they’re somewhat familiar with the project and interested in contributing. I imagine they’d be pretty happy to discover there’s a little reward waiting for them, haha.
When I tell about Jumble for people here, they usually question the lack of these two things:
1- Missing an app
2- Option to add custom emojis.
cc @npub1syj…f6wl
Understood. So you really prefer that I don't open any new bounty, right?
It might be because I don't have design drafts, design guidelines, or coding standards. So contributors didn't know what the standards were. I didn't know either, I just kept trying until I was satisfied. There's quite a big difference between front-end and back-end projects.
There is no centralized authority to provide follower counts on nostr. Follower accounts are calculated by looking at contact lists that you use. And there's no good way to calculate this quickly or accurately for every single relay that exists or npub that exists. Follower accounts are not a good metric in a decentralized network.
Explaining and reviewing.
I have the impression that these bounties doesn't work, because the time you spend explaining things is more than if you started to work on the issue yourself. Maybe is a good idea only for people that really likes Nostr and Jumble.
Actually, I rewrote almost everything, but his codes helped me finish it quickly.
We should thank Ali Raza, I just made a few small adjustments.
After using it today, putting it at the bottom is indeed more convenient. You were right.

Property purchase restrictions mainly depend on housing prices. When prices rise too fast, the government tightens controls. But since prices are falling now, those rules are easing up. Honestly, past data shows these measures don't really work that well.

I wish I knew what BPD was before i started talking to this chick.. she literally told me ahead of time.. I could’ve just googled it.. but nooooo
I kind of know what he's talking about, but his understanding is wrong. Simply put, everyone belongs to a certain city. You can go to any city to live and work. But if you don't belong to that city, you'll lack some benefits and rights, like in aspects such as healthcare, education, and house-buying. When you meet certain conditions, you can change the city you belong to, and the conditions vary from city to city. But in recent years, the gap in benefits and rights between these two types of identities has been gradually narrowing. So this system doesn't hold much significance anymore, and it's just a matter of time before it gets abolished.
sounds like digit was this rappers ghost writer all along
What I mean by move, is change residency. Live in another city that you were not born.
Hum, I saw a podcast recently from a Portuguese person saying that have restrictions, that you are only allowed to move to a new city in certain circunstancies, like if you are approved to study in a University, things like this.
I heard there was a time before I was born when it wasn’t allowed, but I’m not very familiar with that part of history. After I was born, there were no restrictions at all, and the transportation was very convenient.

China probably has the largest number of ACG (Anime, Comics, and Games) fans in the world, and the government has no reason to offend so many people, haha.

Yes plz need to see if recording works
I almost forgot, Jumble still doesn’t support playing .mp3, haha.
That rumor was around more than a decade ago, I even stayed up all night back then downloading all the romance anime I liked, just in case.
Also, there’s no rating system for films and TV shows in China, so explicit sexual or violent content usually gets censored. But honestly, these kinds of restrictions don’t mean much in the face of the internet.
This is a screenshot from the biggest anime platform in China, all of it is officially licensed.

Haha, no problem. It's just to not lose the habit of asking for things for @npub1syj…f6wl
@npub1syj…f6wl when be able to listen Voice Notes on Jumble?
Jumble will attempt to obtain your personal information and send it to China. Please use it with caution. 🤗
That definitely doesn't sound very free.
You are not wrong. And when we have a socialist constitution that is almost impossible to change, like in Brazil, in practice works like a one party system but that is possible to change the people in power every four years.
So we delude ourselves into thinking that something will change but nothing never really changes.
First of all, I really appreciate that you referred to it as COVID-19 and not the "Wuhan Virus."
As an ordinary person, I can only say that I don’t know what caused COVID-19. It could be China, the U.S., or even nature itself. I don’t want to listen to conclusions from the media of any country, whether it’s China’s or the U.S.'s. If a more authoritative medical institution steps forward with evidence, and it turns out China is responsible, I’ll stand with you in criticizing China. But without evidence, our discussion is meaningless.
Yeah, we don’t have elections, but to be honest, people still complain and insult politicians in private all the time, haha.
Considering the U.S. situation, the election system isn’t always great. Changing parties every four years keeps the country in a constant swing, moving slowly.
Are you sure this is the kind of freedom you’re talking about? Haha.
So for ordinary people, probably doesn't have much difference.
Brazil is more and less like China. I think the only difference between Brazil and China, is that we can insult politics and we have elections. But the way of life, I think all we can do, Chineses can do too.
Can you tell me something you’re able to do that I can’t? That way I can understand why I’m considered not free.
If you’re capable of writing such a high-performance program, I’m pretty sure the U.S. Department of Defense would spare no expense to hire you.
I’m not sure, haha. China has over a billion people, so most of the time, no one really cares about what you say, haha. But if you're a public figure and insult the government, you might get into trouble.
Acho que o que ele quis dizer é que para a pessoa comum a vida não é muito diferente da vida de um outro país qualquer que se diz democrático. E acho que ele não está errado nisso.
I’ll try and see if it can be a good alternative.
Interesting. Something I heard sometimes about China is that if you insult the government you need to go to a school to to re-educate oneself. Is this true?
Before Bitcoin trading was banned in China, the BTC/CNY trading volume was actually much higher than BTC/USD. Several of the largest crypto exchanges today were founded by Chinese people.
Bitcoin adoption in China is low due to trading restrictions, but many still hold it. Meanwhile, Hong Kong is actively developing in the crypto space.
To be honest, China might be quite different from what you’ve heard or imagined. It’s true that people in China can’t openly insult the government or the ruling party, but other countries also have their own sensitive topics. For example, in many Western countries, it’s not acceptable to speak freely about religion, gender, or race.
It’s also true that the average person in China can’t freely access foreign websites. But in reality, if you have some basic technical knowledge and are willing to pay a bit, it’s not difficult at all.
I understand that many people are concerned about the widespread surveillance cameras in China, but the truth is, these cameras make everyday life much safer for ordinary people. Privacy does come at a cost, and if you’re not doing anything wrong, sacrificing a bit of privacy for the sake of security can be worth it.
Of course, this is just my own personal and humble opinion.
And how is Bitcoin adoption in China? many people know about it?
As a Chinese person, what people in China think about liberty? People really like this kind of regime? Or they don't think much about it?
Chinese IPs can't access GitHub now 😂
https://image.nostr.build/3bcbff14b057ecf9c40f698cc83850b28b37731b0c771d267d0cc79e8fde3cad.jpg
I also found out that other people call it danmaku when building on this project, haha.
@npub1s3h…75wz for publishing and archiving all the things on relays. A true library in cyberspace.
@npub1jlr…ynqn for bringing meat-space communities to Nostr through Flotilla.
@npub1syj…f6wl for making relays the focus again with Jumble, and for making them dead simple for ANYONE to run with Nostr Relay Tray.
Those are who I can think of right off the top of my head. There are plenty more that are building incredible things, too.
I really loved this feature, which is why I built danmakustr. On Japanese and Chinese video platforms, every video is filled with danmaku, you get to see how others feel at the exact same moment in the video. It’s like watching together with a crowd.
However, when there aren’t many users, most of the time users only see their own bullet comments, which is very boring. This causes users to lose interest in sending bullet comments, and as a result, the number of bullet comments never increases. So, I’ve decided to stop maintaining this project, haha.
i don’t care how many people use nostr.
i care that this is the one place that will always be there for me to broadcast to the world.
This one is from @npub1syj…f6wl, the same developer of the great Nostr client jumble.social.

It looks like a great project! However, Jumble isn't planning to support event kinds other than kind:1 for now. We can support displaying and linking to other clients in repost and embedded notes, similar to how we currently handle long-form content.

#AskNostr #Bitcoin #Lightning
I come to #asknostr today with a question that is way out of my scope:
What AI models/tools/agents/whatever would be best suited for the following:
- collect .las files from both online and offline sources
- organize it into charts and graphs
- analyze it under adjustable parameters and look for patterns
- organize it into various summaries and generate thorough reports.
There would be a bunch of stuff available for training, if that's needed. Ideally, parts of this could happen in live time, particularly pattern recognition.

Who here has ever worked with Cashu?
Say hi, shill your project, and let me follow you 🫡
What’s a good name for a writing app?
Great question! I've got a long (edit: VERY long!), many-pronged answer for you :)
The best answer is that the protocol doesn't enforce this and the three parties involved could choose to do exactly what you're saying. As I fill out the site more I'll be sure to include this important detail, so thanks very much for that.
The arbiter might advertise that they _don't_ judge work and the patron might make clear in their project description that they also work this way. In that case, the agent would send their work directly to the patron and then all three would need to coordinate with the arbiter to get the escrow released to someone.
The only thing the protocol expects is that _the arbiter_ is the one who creates the "job done" event and attests to the final conclusion and escrow release receipt.
There's a tightrope walk between making the protocol too opinionated such that it gets in the way, vs making it so loose that it doesn't provide any tools for consensus.
That said, I personally think keeping the arbiter "in the loop" as a judge is likely to yield better outcomes:
- Domain expertise for adjudication. If an arbiter is only doing dispute resolution, they'll still need to have domain expertise. If the patron and free agent come to the arbiter with a dispute about some implementation detail of a technical system, the arbiter is going to need to understand it to make a decision. By agreeing to judge the work itself, the arbiter is solidifying a promise about their domain expertise.
- It allows for a **patron** who _doesn't_ have domain expertise! Imagine a patron who has a lot of money, likes a particular open source nostr client, but doesn't know a thing about programming. He could request a feature, described in grug-brain language, "me want big blue button here that make picture". This clever patron selects the _high profile developer_ of the open source client as the arbiter. Now we're in interesting territory... The patron gets his button, the agent gets paid, and the arbiter/open source developer basically gets a PR/contribution to review (either to the upstream project or a personal fork for the patron). **He's getting his FOSS project extended without spending any money - in fact he makes money off arbiter fees.**
Sure, maybe this sets up new and bizarre incentives or cheats - but that's part of the fun!
- Last one because I wrote way too much here. The are many specific cases in which it is beneficial for two strangers to have a trusted third party in the loop: one example is "anonymous" shipping. Say I want to buy some stuff off @npub15dc…yv6e but I'm paranoid about leaking my address. Imagine there is a super high-profile and trustworthy arbiter out there who I think is _less likely_ than the vendor to dox me. I create a task to get the product to me (as a patron), with the vendor as the free agent and the trusted "shipping intermediary" as the arbiter. I pay ("escrow") the arbiter for the product, the free agent "does the work" of shipping **to the arbiter**. I've already trusted the arbiter with my address (privately), so they ship the product to me and release the funds to the vendor. I would expect to pay high arbiter fees for this incredible service that I can't get elsewhere!
In the last example, providing some basic protocol features that _allow_ (or at least don't preclude) the arbiter from being deeply in the loop creates opportunities for people to build creative service businesses. I'm sure people will come up with even more surprising ones, and I hope they build custom client apps for their weird things, and I hope they contract out the software work via Catallax.
Happy to keep answering more as you've got them. This is really helpful for me not only as a guide to content the site needs, but in the actual protocol design, which should absolutely be a result of many open discussions!
Good morning and pura vida, Nostr! It's time to create notes and send zaps! 💜🤙🏻🫂

You are absolutely correct! There is no excuse for not fixing things that are broken in your client that are within the scope of the client dev's control. There's a lot of "just ship it" and then move on to the next exciting new idea, leaving users with a bad experience and no expectation that it will ever improve. Then we wonder why user retention is so dismal...
That said, I also see a lot of complaints leveled at client devs that are not within their purview to fix.
"Zaps aren't working on Amethyst."
No... Your wallet provider's relay is down.
"Primal is really slow to load."
No... You're using a DVM feed that they have no control over how long it takes the DVM to send them notes to display to you.
"Jumble doesn't load this user's notes for some reason."
No... That user's outbox relays are all inaccessible via clearnet.
"Damus wiped my follower list somehow."
No... you used some other client that didn't load your existing follow list, so it created a new one and overwrote it on your relays. Damus is just displaying the most recent follow list created.
The list can go on and on and on. Users complaining to client devs about things broken in their client that have nothing to do with their client at all.
And when it comes to devs on an open protocol, you're always going to have a wide mixture of of those with focus, who want to build one or two quality projects, vs those with more ideas than time, who flit from one thing to the next, never really slowing down to make sure it's all in good working order. And now we have the advent of vibe-coding, and I am sure we will see a massive volume of "Look what I made, isn't it cool? What should I build next?" type of folks... As much as I can't stand that attitude, the protocol is permissionless, so they will exist, and they will be a drag on the quality of otherwise solid projects that they are interoperable with.
Just like the good work of one developer can improve all apps that interoperate with them, the bad work of one developer can be a drag on all apps that interoperate with them.

Here's a couple of resources for you:
https://next.nostr.watch/ - This site lets you explore all publicly accessible relays. Currently about 1200 relays.
https://stats.nostr.band/ - This is an interesting Nostr stats page for a lot of different data-points. Bear in mind, though, it only shows information that nostr.band knows where to gather from. Any portions of the network that are not accessible to it won't be included in the stats. Toward the bottom of the page you can see which relays are being used the most.
https://jumble.social - This is a Nostr web client that puts relays front and center. If you go to the "Explore" page, you can see which relays your follows have favorited, if any, or a list of all relays Jumble can find. Selecting the relay will show you a feed of the notes that are on it, if it allows you to read from it.
Outbox is pretty straightforward. You probably want at least one large relay, like relay.damus.io or nos.lol. Then two other relays is sufficient. I go with a relay that I control, but that is accessible for others to read from, such as a self-hosted HAVEN relay, or one hosted on relay.tools, and then a relay that is a bit smaller, but maybe associated with a community I belong to, so I go with relay.nostrplebs.com.
If you are a more private person, and you don't want just anyone to be able to see your notes, you may want to limit your outbox relay to just one lockbox relay, such as lockbox.fiatjaf.com. When you post to this relay type, ONLY those who you are following can read your notes. However, it only works if that is the only relay you are posting to, so you cannot have any other outbox relays.
Inbox is a bit more involved and depends on how much you want to manually block spammers vs having them show up in your replies all the time. Personally, I don't want to do that manually and have a mile-long mute list. Npubs are not scarce, but my time definitely is. That is why I only have 2 inbox relays, and I control both of them. One is my web-of-trust relay and the other is my HAVEN public inbox relay. You can run your own web-of-trust relay EXTREMELY easily using Nostr Relay Tray by @npub1syj…f6wl. You can also use web-of-trust relays that are operated by others, such as wot.utxo.one.
There are also DM Inbox relays, which you may have the ability to set up in your client. This really is ideally a relay you control, such as HAVEN's private inbox relay. However, you can also use one you host on relay.tools, or a paid inbox relay, such as inbox.nostr.wine.
Depending on the client, you may have the ability to set up other types of relays, but the above should be a good start.

Wow! You weren't kidding! I don't feel like quite such a nuisance now.
If you try to turn profits in the incubation stage, you inevitably strangle growth and quality suffers.
That's why grants have turned out to be such a problematic model: people usually view them as personal income and spend them on rent and food, rather than seeing them as investment income in a business they are building, that should be reinvested in making that business grow. That's why they slow or stop working, when the grants run out, or they jump to some other project, to collect grant monies for that. They haven't bothered building something that *generates income*, so their economic incentive to continue the effort evaporates.
And that's why they only write code, rather than build infrastructure and processes: you can just drop code and walk away, with no bills, no staff, no contracts, and no further expectations of services delivered.
Slam, bam, thank you ma'am, but make it FOSS.
I mean, if you think about overall resources, rather than merely Bitcoin income, we're one of the biggest projects. The services and hardware adds up to a small fortune, and we have some Bitcoin income, but there's no profit margin because we reinvest everything.
We haven't surpassed Primal, in budget size, tho.
Yet.
We're actually not slow. It can feel like that, but that's because we're working in

The feature that shows the post you're replying to in the composition window was suggested by @npub1vxd…rs50, and implemented by Anthonyushie. He’s opened over a hundred issues on GitHub, and I’m still slowly working through them, haha.
Beta release for Alexandria, I assume? It's simultaneously one of the coolest and most important projects on Nostr, IMO, and it doesn't get nearly enough attention.
I know, you guys are working on a shoe-string budget over there. I'd rather contribute monetarily to y'all, and I have, than to ask you to pay me for whatever assistance I can provide.
Terrible is still a step above ignorant, where I am at. 😂
That sounds interesting. Where can I go to find what needs worked on?
Amethyst is now applying a minimum 20% tariff on all users of other Nostr clients and 84% on Primal users.

Would any devs be interested in quality feedback as a service?
I think my track record around here speaks for itself in this regard, but @npub1syj…f6wl and @npub1jlr…ynqn in particular can vouch for my constructive suggestions that have helped them improve their clients.
You can also see my attention to detail, user-experience perspective, and knowledge of the protocol in my reviews of #Primal and #Amber and my #Nostrversity article about Nostr Wallet Connect at my website (built on npub.pro): https://www.nostr-reviews.com
I would love to be able to produce more content like that, but I have a 9-5 job that severely limits my output. If I could ditch it to focus on Nostr education and feedback for the developers, I would do it in a heartbeat, but I also need to feed the family. 😂

A lot of the increase in hashrate is just the improvement to Asic efficiency, which doesn't mean it's more secure.
I think power consumption is a much better way to measure security than hash rate imo

You did something, I can tell!
Would be nice if users who want to participate in hell-threads had a toggle, but honestly not all that necessary. Android users have Pokey, where we can turn hell-thread notifications on and off if we want to participate. 😂
Also, I noticed that Jumble now shows the post you are replying to in the composition window. THANK YOU! I bother you enough about things that I hadn't mentioned it before, but I was going to a separate client to look at the post I was replying to while I wrote responses before...
And relay sets and favorited relays automatically syncing between devices now that they are stored on your relays as events... Jumble is really shaping up, my friend!
yes and he is often barefoot
This is exactly what I want. The purpose of Jumble is to better browse relay content, and I hope to see more unique and interesting relays emerge. Nostr is a decentralized network and shouldn't be controlled by a few giant relays.
Of course, I won’t stop you from forking Jumble if you'd like. Everything is free and open.
It's open source. If you want to view the previous global feed, you can create it yourself in the settings. Alternatively, you can click this link and click the star next to the search to save this temporary relay set. You can also add other large relays to this relay set to make your global feed more complete.

what are your thoughts on zaps4follows? my take is that nostr gives us the freedom to do whatever we want. i wouldn't do it. i think it's spammy and scammy. however, i also understand with very little algorithmic help, it's hard for new npubs to gain traction. if someone wants to offer the hardest money we have for some follows and engagement, i say that proof of work, the freedom to communicate, and the free market are working as intended. on the other side of the argument, if you don't like it, you're also free to complain. nostr gives us that freedom too.

My relay does not support NIP-29
I wonder if this interaction feed helps with initial onboarding.
1. You post to #introductions
2. You get some initial interactions from @npub18am…p424 welcoming you
3. You like or reply to their post
4. Then all of a sudden you have an initial derek feed even if you haven’t followed him
5. You look at notes and replies, and see derek chatting with a few people.
6. You open a few threads and like a few more posts.
7. Your feed starts to populate more from people who had posts you liked.
Seems like a nice organic way to onboard people who might not think about following?
We could use this interaction feed combined with the follow list if the user isn’t following many people at the start 🤔
That’s true for now. However, I’m confident that various relays will emerge in the future. First, I need to perfect features like relay browsing and discovery to pave the way for their arrival. It would be a pity if someone wanted to operate an interesting relay but couldn't find a client to browse with.
It’s due to caching. It will be refresh once the cache expires after some time. Generally, users don’t frequently modify the relays they use, nor should they. So, caching is reasonable.
Since I don't have the cached data for him, what I'm seeing on my end is correct.
https://image.nostr.build/cd8e16eb7634973b5e09f31ff3a10a99c4e4a3af699a6bc3f96a8163b40aaeae.png
You’re right! I’m still figuring out a solution. Moreover, it seems that many relays don’t accept protected events. I’m not sure how to distinguish between those that do and those that don’t.
The purpose of this list is to save some relays favorited by users, such as algo relay, lockbox, 23GMT, and so on. It’s similar to browser bookmarks, facilitating browsing on Jumble.
But when browsing https://nosta.me/npub15hhygatg5gmjyfkkguqn54f9r6k8m5m6ksyqffgjrf3uut982sqsffn4vc shows 3 relays.

Deve ser algum problema do Jumble.
Hi @npub1syj…f6wl why the profile @npub15hh…n4vc has only 1 relay when browsing with Jumble?
Loving the update to Jumble.social @npub1syj…f6wl!
One thing I am noticing, though. Now that "favorite relays" load in the right-side panel, you cannot select to send a note to only that relay. You first need to add it to a relay set, so it will show up in the left-side panel, and then Jumble will display the toggle to send your note only to that relay.
Yall never heard of ManPons before?

I can't add you because you love Markdown and hate Asciidoc too much, but aside from that I like you.
Just forget the gangstalkers or whatever. The internet is an awful place full of awful people, but it has the advantage of allowing you to just ignore them if you want.
Because many people have reported that the global feed contained a lot of porn content, I decided to remove it. However, you can create your own global feed in the settings. Previously, I was using wss://relay.damus.io and wss://nos.lol as the relays for the global feed.
This feature might be available tonight, or tomorrow.
You have to craft your own relay feeds, those global and safer-global feeds were just suggestions.
I hope and believe someday @npub1syj…f6wl will add a way to get relay feed recommendations from friends and make that process smoother.
You can try wss://inbox.relays.land/ now 🫡
We can try using only read relays to subscribe notifications. If too many people report not receiving notifications, I might roll it back. Some clients don't send events to the mentioned person's read relays, which is quite frustrating.
Not an unreasonable approach, but you could do it maybe only for people that hadn't set it up?
Switched to a new event kind for saving favorite relays. https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/pull/1848
Cool, looks good, much better logic.
It's released. You may see the changes after some time due to CDN and caching.
Looking forward to new design
I used a new kind of event, so you might need to recreate it again 🤣
error: failed to authenticate 🤣
It seems that simply filtering out the notifications that mention too many people can solve this problem?
I've seen a lot of people discussing #hellthread. Can anyone briefly tell me what it is? #asknostr
Haha, only simple issues can be fixed that quickly!
Because many people haven’t properly set up their inbox/outbox, I took the liberty of adding a few relays in some cases 🤣

You're right, thanks for the feedback! It's been fixed. 🫡
@npub1syj…f6wl https://jumble.social/ fetches my notifications from my configured inbox relay, but also from wss://relay.damus.io and wss://relay.nostr.band, which I imagine are hardcoded and added to my list?
LOL! @npub1syj…f6wl it looks like Jumble is automatically adding "nostr:" in front of "npub." It should probably only do this for a full and valid "npub" string.
I see you have 2 accounts, I don't know what algorithm Primal uses for their search but they only show your older account

The following feed is fetched from the outbox relays set by the users being followed. It’s possible that some relays configured by users are returning results that don’t meet the filter. I will perform further validation on the results returned by the relays.
No, take a closer look. The relay sends AUTH when the connection is established. The AUTH after OK is sent by the client.

This is just my guess, haha. If it keeps failing to send, it might be another issue.
The error occurs if the note is not posted successfully within 4.4 seconds. Try a few more times, the network might be unstable.
Sounds cool! I'd love to create such a platform. However, I'm still trying to figure out under what conditions the bounties would be released, who would release them, and where the bounty would be locked.
Would be amazing if these bounties shows automatically on Nostr feed with options to add more sats, comment.. directly from Jumble Nostr feed.
This error should occur during the post process. I guess you have already seen the uploaded image in the preview, so the image should have been uploaded successfully. However, posting the note failed. Right?

This makes sense because when posting, the extension's signing method is called directly without checking whether the extension's account matches the current account.
Chrome with nos2x. Looks like I have two accounts configured with NIP-07 but can't remember adding the second one. Perhaps I did something wrong. No login dialog appeared, the active account was this one but when poasting the other was used.
That sounds terrible! I have no idea since I haven't encountered this issue. Could you tell me which browser you were using? On mobile or desktop?
@npub1fjq…leku is it working ok for you now on Mobile?
I'm concerned there might be compatibility issues
Sure, I'll find time to take a look.
Can you tell me what browser and extension you're using? I'll see if I can reproduce the issue.
Also, just to make sure I understand correctly, do you mean a login dialog appeared even though you were already logged in?
Do you mean that when you return to the feed, you don't go back to the position where you left it?
@npub1syj…f6wl you might not be aware of the paging issues.
Like, if I click on a note or notifications, I can't navigate back to the feed without refreshing.
If you choose the Following feed, it works like a traditional client and will only show posts from the people you follow. If you choose the relay set, it will display all posts from the relay.
Sounds feasible. What protocol will you use for broadcasting?
I’m gambling again

Yeah, I haven't figured out how to implement it yet either.
Yes, use them to access others feeds is an interesting and collaborative possibility, but it requires a really more complex UX than simply managing your own.
Jumble was developed from scratch using nostr-tools, but in many aspects, it was inspired by nostrudel. That's because I'm also a fan of nostrudel.
A really different way of thinking. What I had in mind was using it to share the feeds of certain users.

No, I won't. The two-column layout of Jumble isn't suitable for reading long-form content. It's not immersive enough. Also, there are many things in Jumble that need improvement, and it'll take me some time to perfect it. After Jumble becomes good enough, if there still aren't any good long-form clients, I'll consider developing one separately.

The challenge needs to be sent in advance, otherwise, the client won't be able to authenticate. Typically, the AUTH message can be sent when the connection is established, and the client will store the challenge to use it when necessary. If you prefer to send the AUTH message only when necessary, you must ensure that it is sent before the OK or CLOSED messages.

“You can just do things” is one of my favorite meme phrases that I see out there.
Back around my senior year of high school, I consciously decided to shift to that mindset. I went from kind of operating within rules, and trying to leave a light touch around me, to being more assertive and creative about what I want to do. It was kind of a quiet “I’m not locked in here with you, you’re locked in here with me” vibe shift.
At the time I think the terminology I filtered it through was Sagan’s pale blue dot. Like, everything that has ever been done is on this crazy little ball spinning through space. So it’s okay to just do things, to take chances, to think outside of the box. Because the box itself is already actually kind of crazy.
And then in the mid-2010s, like around 2016, I did kind of a checkup on how I’m doing, and felt that while I had used that strategy well, I wasn’t thinking big enough. I had primarily used that strategy to climb up the ranks in the engineering world, with the goal of making things better for myself and my colleagues/division; I would just do things and be the person who pushed to say “yes” a lot and it had worked out really well.
But for my next phase, I felt I needed to “just do things” outside of an organizational structure as well.
So I started my namesake website. I previously had a small anon website on stock investing which I was able to sell to some publisher and that gave me experience, but this one would be different. It would have my face on it.
Any sort of content creator starts by being a little crazy. It starts with the improbable concept that you could create written or audio or visual content that thousands or millions of people will actually want to see and get value out of, in the sea of endless content that already exists.
But it starts somewhere. With just doing things. My view was that I would do my best, leverage the experience that I had, and give it my honest shot.
Never looked back since. It’s been a wild journey.

I'm sure @npub1w4u…0jr5 will implement this on Pokey, haha.
I will add this event to Jumble in the next couple of days, and it will also allow the read status to sync across different devices. After that, if Pokey is willing to implement it, your request can be fulfilled.
What confuses me is why this note wasn't sent to my read relays
Great, lets make this happens.
Yes, pokey can listen to this special event, and when it receives the event, it can clear the push notifications
I mean close Android push notification.
If Jumble receives ["OK", false, "auth-required: xxxxx"], it will authenticate and retry sending. Maybe the issue is that the response is missing a colon? hahaha, I can remove the colon check.
like this:
{
"kind": 30078,
"tags": [["d", "seen_notifications_at"]],
"content": "",
"created_at": 1743430990,
}
Jumble is not currently using the 30078 event. I prefer to define a special d tag, and the event's created_at represents the time of the read notification.
In theory, a kind 30078 event can be used to store the time of reading notifications and publish it. Other applications can subscribe to this event and perform some processing. I'm not very familiar with Android, so I'm not sure if this is possible.
To clear some misunderstandings
This Login with nostr is for websites or services as an alternative to login with email or phone number. Think of media hosts or relay providers, these provide services to nostr users but they are not nostr apps.
It is not to log in on other nostr apps where those apps are expected to be signing events on your behalf, for that you still need an extension or bunker or other signer setup unfortunately, there are no easy solutions (yet).

With NIP-07 or NIP-46, yes, more infrastructure and understanding of Nostr is needed. But with NIP-97 and NIP-98 web apps wouldn't need this. The heavy lifting is done via the existing clients that users are using. Sure they'd need to use their own database to house login information, but this is no different than any other OAuth login scheme.
This method here would negate a lot of that complexity.
https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/blob/login/97.md
I don’t know, at some point it looked like Damus and nostr.build were going to add it, not sure what happened after

This method still exists but never really took off:
#nevent1q…4rkm
yes I agree that would be even better, @npub1hyx…tqnx mentioned something like that, but currently there is no way to show that. Probably need a NIP to make clear this is “premium” content and not broken.

I follow npubs that aren't "real" people, but I find them valuable for other reasons. Not every npub included within what npub.world considers "reputable" is a real person, I am sure.
I can also tell you from running a WoT relay that there are still a fair amount of bots that make it into my WoT because people who I follow, and would therefore be considered "reputable" are also following bots, which would in turn make those bots "reputable" since it only requires one "reputable" follower for an npub to also be considered "reputable."
Chaos spurs innovation.

If the nostr-relay-tray could automatically download events from the outbox relays of the people you follow, and then you use jumble to browse the events in the nostr-relay-tray...🤔
#nevent1q…pmz2
I couldn't agree more with your idea. This is one of the reasons why I developed nostr-relay-tray and jumble. nostr-relay-tray can now enable non-developers to run a personal relay easily, and it can be accessed from the Internet without any configuration. The next version will support automatically pulling events from people you follow. Then nostr-relay-tray will become the personal caching relay you mentioned. And it can be browsed easily with jumble.
If I'm following 1000 people, and each person only posts notes to their own personal relay, I would need to connect to 1000 relays to get my following feed.
Clients like Jumble and others that use the outbox model to fetch the following feed will do this.
Update: the easy ones are out of the way, now for the shit I have no idea about.. I’ve never once bet on march madness before

No worries, I understand 🌝
I really appreciate your feedback as well!
LOL. No. He has a glorious head of hair. Don't do that to it.
The more relays you use, the slower operations like posting, liking, following, etc., might get. However, using a dozen or so relays doesn't actually slow things down that much, haha.
The main issue lies in the fact that people who follow you are unlikely to use all of your write relays to query your events. Since they follow many other people as well, most of the time, only the first few relays are meaningful.
Thanks! Auth will be implemented in the reverse proxy service, it's already in development. LAN access shouldn't need auth, right? What do you think?
Sorry, Jumble currently only sends to the first five write relays. I'll consider increasing the limit.
Got it, I'll consider adding some guidance where appropriate.
Yes, that's correct. Since the pubkey in NIP-17 gift wrap events is randomized to hide the sender, enabling WoT will reject these events. You can create an allow rule to accept all 1059 events.
It’s a new bug that was known to me only recently (thanks to Marie shaking things up with the hellthread) and we’re working on it. I have a pull request open to fix Iris to not break future threads when replying (it erroneously drops metadata on the floor about which event is the root), and we’ll need to add a workaround to Damus to attempt to find the root event in the thread so that it can still mute all the replies underneath it (even if other clients break threads due to bugs).

Yes, the next version will include the feature to automatically pull events from public relays.
If your local relay automatically pull events from the outbox relays of people you follow, combined with using Jumble browsing. The following feed will load very fast and save bandwidth.
I think it makes sense. This is true decentralization.
I plan to use a new kind 10012 event to store favorited relays and pointers to relay sets. I'll try to upgrade without affecting existing data. https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/pull/1848
"Push to relays" does publish a kind 30002 event to public relays, so in theory, you should be able to pull it on other devices. There might be a bug, haha. This process is too cumbersome, so it will be removed in the future. It should sync automatically.
The relay sets feature is currently being restructured. Once the restructuring is complete, it will support automatic synchronization and simplify the process of managing and favoriting relays.

The default relay sets has been modified! However, it only applies to users opening it for the first time.
I'm really sorry about this! I'll modify the default relays right away.
I have no idea where the problem is. I've only encountered this issue on Safari, especially when using the beta version of Jumble. The beta version is testing the outbox model for the following feed, which requires loading a large amount of data at the start. In short, Safari is garbage. 🥹
Each of my relay sets only also has one relay, so I've been thinking about how to improve it. Most of the time, relay sets just hinder me from collecting relays.
Each of your relay sets has only one relay 🌝 It seems that relay sets are mostly unnecessary.

Unlike bitcoin where data permanence is baked into the system at a steep cost, nostr does not promise that every random note or meme will be preserved forever. That said, in practice, any data perceived as valuable by someone will likely be stored and distributed by multiple entities. If something matters to someone, they will keep a signed copy."

Yes, list all the saved relays individually and browse the feed from one relay at a time.
The relay sets make it cumbersome to save and manage relays, as I have to create a set, name it, and then save it. In practice, I end up having only one relay in each set, haha. But since there are times when multiple relays need to be grouped together, I haven’t decided how to improve it yet.
I'm thinking of just removing relay sets, haha.
Thank you so much for your support! 😊
Hahaha, I just ran into the same issue! And since the app isn’t signed, Windows blocked me several times too.
I tested the installation package from GitHub on my virtual machine, and it works fine. Could it be that your installation failed?

This should be v1.8.0, could it be that I uploaded the wrong installation package? Let me try it on a Windows VM to see.
Can you open it successfully? If so, could you share a screenshot?
You mean you can open the dashboard but don’t see the WoT and Proxy options? Could you let me know what system you're using and which installation package you downloaded? It's likely that you're opening an older version.
It depends on your purpose. If you just want to manually set up a whitelist, then you can turn off the WoT. Different strategies can be freely combined according to your needs, so you have the flexibility to choose the approach that suits you best.
I'm planning to implement NIP-42 on the proxy service, so it might be supported sometime soon, haha. If everything goes well, I also plan to offer custom names as a paid service.

25% of the country believes elon is an israeli puppet
the doxxing of tesla owners, listing them on a map asking the public to attack them, is more proof of the danger of mass surveillance policies and kyc regs

It's not... And that's where we are at now.

just need your version number so i can figure out whats wrong (in settings)
Can you copy your version to here? It’s in settings at the bottom. Also you have a very large number of relays (27), i would target around 4-7. Not sure if thats a problem here but damus can get unstable when you have too many …
Testing outbox model for the following feed on https://beta.jumble.social
Slower loading, but ensures you don’t miss notes from people you follow.

Safari's performance is really too poor
Just guessing, but I would be willing to bet that if the general perception of the vibes on Nostr could be charted, it would have a strong correlation to the Bitcoin price. 😂
I probably fall into the nerdy enthusiast crowd. That said, I really appreciate your presence here and will miss you if you go on another long hiatus.
Let me just encourage you that devs are not going to know how they can improve the UX of their apps unless they have less technical folks giving feedback about their struggles.

Pigeon consists of two parts:
- pigeon_nest: A reverse proxy service deployed on a server.
- pigeon: A local client that forwards messages between the local relay and pigeon_nest.
Pigeon communicates with pigeon_nest via websocket. Upon connection, it performs a NIP-42 auth and uses the pubkey as the relay address. I've already deployed pigeon_nest on my server, you can compile pigeon and give it a try: https://github.com/CodyTseng/pigeon/tree/master/pigeon
Here's my local relay:

Hi! It's "pura vida". @nprofile…jsen introduced this phrase to us a little over two years ago and it just stuck, especially after visiting Costa Rica. It's a way of life! 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
You're either not providing any value, or you're not getting your notes in front of people who would value them.
#nevent1q…qgyx
Assuming your issue is the latter, how do you get your notes in front of #Nostriches who will value them on #Nostr, where we don't have algorithms to do this for us? There are at least 2 ways.
1. Find people who are already posting about the things you want to post about, then put in the #ProofOfWork by interacting with them and interacting with those who interact with them. Build a reputation of having QUALITY replies, and people will start following you who are interested in what you have to say. Better yet, you'll probably start getting zapped for your replies, if they add value to the discussion.
2. Use RELEVANT hashtags. Very little will get you muted by me and others around here than if you start using popular hashtags just because they are popular, when they have NOTHING to do with your post. Don't use the AskNostr hashtag when you aren't asking a question. Don't use the GrowNostr hashtag when you are posting about Bitcoin. Look at the hashtags people who are talking about a given topic are already using, which you should be well aware of if you followed the advice in point 1, and start using those.
Bonus: Don't expect from others what you aren't giving yourself. You want engagement on your posts? Engage with others more than you post yourself. You want zaps? Zap others regularly. No one respects folks who have sent 1k in zaps, but have received 5k. Same goes for your ratio of original posts to replies.
"But Dikaios1517, then I won't ever be making a profit from Nostr. I will constantly be spending more sats than I am receiving."
Yes. Recognize that others are collectively providing you far more value than you are providing to everyone else. This is the way it should be.

That's not true. I'm anti-fascist and anti-communist. Not liking one type of authoritarian doesn't mean you behave to like another form.
You are right that mentioning sending people back is odd. Hmm.
I haven't seen any protests about illegals though. I only see anti-fascist protests and Israel/ Gaza protests.
Universities generally don't police speech allowing all sides to protest.

NIPs have undergone countless changes over the past few years, leading to the creation of numerous applications. Some level of chaos is inevitable. Despite the disorder, most applications remain highly compatible with each other. I believe things will continue to improve in the future.
I can work on your issues for quite some time now 🤣 Of course, I won’t be handling issues all the time, or that would be too boring. I might develop some small features on weekends. Such as bookmark 🌝
Since I'm developing jumble in my spare time, the progress might be a bit slow. I'll prioritize fixing bugs and issues that affect the user experience first, then work on what I think is important. If there's a feature you'd like to see in jumble, feel free to mention me, create an issue, or follow up on an existing one. The more people bring it up, the more likely I am to prioritize it 🤣
Why do I see so many double ##hashtags these days?
It seems like there’s no need to set up write filters. Just enabling the "send only" switch by default when browsing relay sets should be enough, right?
Thanks for your understanding. The main reason is that I’m not confident in implementing the private messaging feature properly. I rarely use private messages myself because I’m never sure if the other person will actually receive my message. Especially when you and the other person are using different clients, it often happens that they don’t get your message.
50M clients and 2Billion relays. That's my goal for Nostr.
I still need some time to refine the existing features 🫂

What in particular? The re-posting via kind 1? Because I agree with that. But in any case I think clients can still provide a good UX by reconciling the different kinds when needed.
The difficult part is indexing them by type so you can fetch one without the other. If Olas fetches kind 1s, it has to filter out everything that doesn't fit the olas format. On the other hand, a client can support as many kinds as it wants. So granular distinctions are generally good.

You can't stop someone from publishing a note, or tagging you in that note.
A "like" on Nostr is just another kind of note with your npub and the event ID tagged in it. There is absolutely nothing that can stop someone else from publishing that note, other than a relay that rejects kind 7 notes. However, that still just means you won't see the note if you are only reading from that relay. It still exists on other relays that did accept it.

Btw, @npub180c…h6w6 's lockbox.fiatjaf.com and zapbox.fiatjaf.com are also quite interesting.
There's no way around this, signing an event is everyone's right because nostr is decentralized and censorship-resistant. We can only choose not to see it.
This may not be achievable, at most, it can only be hidden on the client side.
It's okay 🫂

I follow & unfollow & refollow because I get bored, offended, flooded or any other of a dozen reasons, then try again later 😅 Sometimes someone is sharing knowledge or imagery I don't want now, but then do want later. Those notifications are bad for the psyche. I believe it's always best to not over-concern oneself with the actions of others.

Using Nostr and understanding its importance, how the protocol could impact billions of people beyond your social circle, is eye-opening. It’s more than just a social network. It’s a complete shift toward open communication, censorship resistance, and freedom. Eventually more people will comprehend this, though sometimes these types of lessons require more pain.
Expecting everyone to run a Lightning node is as unrealistic as expecting everyone to run a Nostr relay. The key to mass adoption lies in better user experience and improved technology solutions.

there is no "correct" way to handle replies to these relays yet. The relays apply special rules so if you would just send the reply to the restricted relay its not clear your reply would get seen by the OP.
Yes! You have! Since you replied from nostur, it's on many relays now. I think only coracle, jumble, and relay tools are handling replies correctly at the moment. Like I said, currently easy to read, not so easy to reply. Had you replied from one of those clients, it would have stayed sequestered to zapbox... but it's getting there 😁

Nostr and decentralization aren't difficult concepts. The network affect is the larger hurdle. Create content that is only available on Nostr and people will come.
