This morning's reading caught that first thing in the morning feeling when everything is quiet, dark, and filled with potential.
Reverence.
It's not the immediate feeling of crawling out of bed. Rising rituals must be observed. Cat must be fed. A pen on paper notation. A reset of the screens and zeroing out yesterday's books.
But then it comes, the moment when I look for the one small, positive thought to share.

I could. I've resisted because my opportunities to listen are few and far between these days. I'd hate to get 3hrs into a 10hr story...

I go every 4 months for cleaning. 30-40 minutes each time. It's doable.
I like my dental team. They're all wonderful to work with. Trust goes a long way to alleviating the stress.

My market niche consists of heavy readers in a couple of fairly narrow niches.
I don't use crowdfunding because it takes sales away from open publication, reducing visibility of my work in the marketplace.
While I understand the pull of "keeping more of the money" I am not willing to sink the additional effort into an activity that actively hurts my sales.

Adequate to "field quality" work. It's no Rode, but it's adequate to purpose.

For a straight up mic, Shure SM58 is pretty popular as are the Blue Snowball and Blue Yeti.
When I was doing audio recording, I used a Rode NT1A XLR coupled with a Zoom H4 recorder, but that was a long time ago.
Now, I just use a cheap off-brand lapel mic that plugs into my phone and use the voice recorder app for my (somewhat) daily podcast, that I record while I'm walking around the neighborhood.

Some fund their art by taking other work so they can continue to eat while creating their art.
Some lucky few manage to earn enough to make their art self-sufficient.
Very few can support themselves on the profits.
While most startups fail, the artist has an advantage. The only way they fail is if they quit.

I'm experimenting with einkorn flour. Mostly it's just to see what it's like.
It's a process.
I can't buy it locally and have to order it shipped in. As a specialty flour, it's expensive. It looks and smells like normal flour.
Alone in bread resulted in dense, chewy loaves. I liked the taste, not the texture.
I'll try again.

A new day. A new chance to succeed.
Yesterday didn't go as planned. Some days are like that. It happens a lot, hence my word of the year - Surf.
It felt good to feel it actually being put to use in a direct way but also made me aware of just how often I use it day to day.
I wasn't aware of just how often I adjust my balance and shift my course in small ways throughout the day until a big wave struck.
No wipe out. Just a shift in my weight.
