I haven't tried to replace mine yet. The blower fan on the side for part cooling has some generic ones on AliExpress, but I have not seen them locally. The back enclosure fan is quite generic, but the hotend is a Creality fan. I will use this as a reminder to keep an eye out and buy backups before I need to replace them, especially if I need to ship them.
Just another thing one should look out for when buying a printer.

The market is completely flooded for that range and there are many better printers which you could buy simply for the parts and upgrade the software, if you like, in that range. They really need to be innovative or just rely on customer loyalty and fan boys to buy it.

This is an interesting idea, but even the #Ender3 has shown us that manufacturers will cut costs even for a few dollars. They would avoid using higher end screens, like the #P1P did, although the X1C vs P1P and #P1S screens are worlds apart.
Also using the same board would almost compromise the higher tier, providing less advantages for purchasing the "higher" tier printers. Although I do agree and build volume is a big thing in what determines the printer I would buy.
Bambu did the opposite by downgrading the screen, but keeping the volume and electronics the same for their cheaper printers.

As the videos and articles are coming out more, as deliveries are finally made, I have come to the conclusion that the #Prusa XL is an early access printer.
It is literally like buying early access games. "Here is a game at full price. The functionality is limited, and we promise we will release this in the future, but there are many bugs."
Prusa literally finalized the design, did some internal testing, and said to themselves, "Yeah. This is fine. Send it to manufacturing."

I use to print in ABS due to having an enclosure, but now that I am printing faster speeds with a CoreXY, I realize that ABS is far better due to limited cooling.
Not that it was a miniature, but yesterday, I printed that gauge I shared on the matrix group. The final layers were 0.5s long, even with a minimum layer time, due to the speed being increased by the min printing speed. So I had to decrease that, which increased the printing time significantly, but helped with cooling. I want to tru and print it in ABS today and see if I get a better result as well as print it faster.

I want to re-write some of the @npub12at…me5y bot, partly to remove Redis dependency, although it doesn't use it. It is actually just there for other people using #MastoBot for a storage API. This would allow for easier hosting as I want to move it.

@npub1wjw…ue5t are there any plans to change the fact that #ProtonPass uses the same password as our #ProtonMail, #ProtonDrive and #ProtonCalendar? It just seems like a design flaw and security concern?
For example, I can't use ProtonPass to store a randomly generated password for my email, as it uses my #Proton account. Also, assuming I now use a password for my ProtonMail, if the password becomes comprised in whatever way, my password manager is also compromised.
This effect is cascaded by the fact that ProtonPass can be used as a #passwordmanager and #2FA, so I can't use it for my 2FA for my email.
This is probably one of my few reasons to not switch from #Bitwarde.

I mean, what did people expect? If the product is free, you are the product. Otherwise, you could simply use #Chrome in incognito mode, and #Google would make nou money. They could not allow that.
Stop using "free browsers" and use #FOSS browsers. They are the only truly free browsers. Otherwise, you end up paying, but not with money.

Recently tried printing "glass" again. This is SBS transparent. I pushed the temperature from 220°C all the way to 250°C. The more milky one was at lower temps, tried the 250°C as @npub1yrl…8gpm has suggested for TPU and SBS for flow previously, as well as multiple guides for "printing glass". It worked for flow as well as better bonding layers and allowed them to flow into each other. It almost results in a polarization effect.
The temperature difference has made a difference. But I also increased the EM from 0.96 to 1.025, 1.10 was too high, and created other problems, such as a rough texture. An interesting thing here is that look at the layer allignment. I used 0° for one and 90° for the other.
As with classic 3D printing, geometry and orientation make a difference.
The part is for a transparent drawer, of which the handle broke off. The drawer is transparent. Black, white, grey, etc, just didn't look attractive. So I tried printing "glass".

3D printing professor did the Hydra mod. Then his AMS broke due to issues of it being an original pre-production unit.
So he did a test, he contacted Bambu and didn't disclose who he is, pretending to be a nobody. They ignored him, said he voided the warrenty, and he is on his own.
He disclosed that he is the 3D printing professor. They immediately replied and gave him a new printer and AMS. Showing that they get upset about these thing and their customers' service doesn't care about normal people and Youtubers get special treatment.

This is one of the reasons I opted out using 0.6mm nozzles primarly and trusting Arachne, my text didn't always work well.
But doing it like are, you could make the text thicker and larger. My problems were with prints designed for 0.4mm.

Recently bought myself some SBS black and transparent filament, since I was curious and it appears to only be locally available and there isn't a lot of information available on it:
1. Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene filament
2. SBS is known for its flexibility, durability, and rubber-like properties. You can imagine it like a 95A or more shore hardness TPU.
3. It surprisingly prints quite cold. @npub1yrl…8gpm suggest trying to print it at 250 instead of the recommended 215. This did help achieve a higher flow rate, but had other effects.
4. TPU is known for being horrible with supports. SBS prints quite well with supports, with them simply snapping off. Increasing the temperature made this more difficult.
5. You can push this fillament crazy fast. I easily printed with a VF of 20, which is weird for such a flexible filament.
6. Bed adhesion at 70C was great, without any adhesive and it simply pops off when the bed cools down for a few minutes.

I have always had the opinion that it should remain in the same plane. The Creality CR6-SE had an identical setup to the Ender3, where the bowden exteuder was mounted on the X rail. So it moved up and down with Z.
This allowed the bowden path to remain constant, except for the left and right movements of the hotend on the X gantry. I think this helps keep the response of the bowden constant for the entire print, minimizing the change in the filament path as you print, which could affect PA.

I myself am very reluctant to learn and use it and would rather wait for something like #Carbon. I don't think I want all the drama the #Rust community kicks up once a week.

I think a lot of the bad press for TPU still comes from the notorious NinjaFlex, which was such a pain to print. But improved and FDM specific design plastics and most printers having direct drives, I think it is easier to print it now.
My spool TPU that I have is 3 years old. I bought it with my first printer and we struggled to find it at the time, we had to search for many suppliers. Now I can find TPU everywhere. So there are clearly improvements in what we have now.

This misconception of PETG is that it is advertised as the "next step" once you mastered PLA on your entry level Ender3. But it really isn't an easy plastic to melt or print. It needs sooo much heat.

Which Wifi chip and processor are they running? With an ESP8366 and ESP32, you have to go out of your way to make the speeds so slow. Just don't understand what they are doing wrong.

The best temperature to print something in is 12°C below the glass transition point. Read something about it a while back. This is why I chased 60°C on my enclosure as that was the closest I could get.

I've not built a CoreXY myself yet. Is it really that much more complex? Is the design or the construction the problem when people talk of complexity?
Complexity should not be the limit during design, your specification, cost and reliability of your solution should be your limit.

Also, part of #Klipper is being configurable. If they use #KlipperScreen, then I can customise it, change the theme, add other features, measurements, and buttons, and customise it to my liking. If they use their own UI, the source code is normally not used, and you can extend it.

Blows my mind, that manufacturers refuse to run #KlipperScreen. All these #Klipper printers are running their own UIs.
This is just stupid. As I then can't control my entire printer as promised. I can change the config, choose between #Fluidd and #Mainsail, and have root access, but I am stuck with their bad design choices for the display.
Dear manufacturers, if you decide to re-invent the wheel. Please do so by keeping the same shape. That shit needs to be round.

It is not something which I replace or change often. But I use it in my heater block for both my thermistor and heat cartridge. I also have it between my heatbreak and my heatsink of my hot-end.
I bought a bi-metalic hotend for improved conductivity and heat isolation. So I just thought I might just as well go all the way.

PBT (Polybutylene terephthalate) is a component of some polycarbonates, but it is not commonly used as a standalone 3D printing filament:
1. Melting Temperature: PBT has a relatively high melting temperature, making it less compatible with many 3D printers, which are often optimized for lower-melting materials like PLA and ABS. Printing PBT would require specialized equipment.
2. Adhesion and Warping: PBT has a tendency to warp during 3D printing, making it challenging to achieve good bed adhesion and dimensional stability.
3. Limited Availability: While there are various 3D printing materials available, PBT is not as commonly used or readily available as PLA, ABS, or other more popular filaments.
4. Safety Considerations: PBT can release potentially harmful fumes when heated, so it may not be the best choice for desktop 3D printing in home or educational settings where safety is a concern.

It is really the best guide, even vetrans use every time they buy a new filament. I like it because it has good explanations and includes multiple tests, as there exist many opinions on different methods.

This is just a remark regarding the usage of the @npub18kp…cqlt bot.
If you want to use the bot, please mention it in a mention-only post, removing all other text and user names, thus something like this:

The mention only helps that it doesn't spam and clutter comment sections or bother other users. There are also some cases where it just fails, and I need to review the requests manually.

Also, the bot creates a reminder toot from the time of creation of your message. Thus, if there is a delay or the bot goes offline, the toot will already be created on Mastodon using scheduled posts. Thus, it should still go through.
If your request is processed correctly, you will receive a confirmation message.

I really wish it was easier to test. I need to open my printer on the bottom and really wish I could access it better. I tweaked my currents and could possibly improve it still, it is just such a pain.

But color is also dependent on the temperature you print at often. So can manufacturers then have realistic and correct temperatures on their spools as well please?

It would be great. I personally buy my filament from the factory directly, so I can see a large set of samples or from stores that have printed samples and models with all filament.
Wonder at what price they would sell it. But I have to say, they have a nice color selection, especially for their multi-material capabilities.

So I am designing an enclosure for my new DHT22 temperature and humidity sensor and my SGP40 AQI sensor, and got this great idea.
I have used the function to print without top and bottom layers in order to create a grill before, but didn't want the entire top to be open, but still wanted some air flow to be possible. So I got this idea.
In the lid of the enclosure, I made two separate cut-outs, but exported them together. In #PrusaSlicer I then imported them as separate components and printed the two cut-outs without top and bottom layers. See the screen shots below!

Some of them think we define colors like a normal printer. Like I can just print amy color and just have like a high-resolution 255 color print. They think it is a 3D inkjet printer and I've had many requests.

STEP files are the best for sharing designs and .3mf files for print files.
I actually recently printed something for a friend, and he could simply share his .3mf file with me. I opened it in #PrusaSlicer and simply changed the profiles to my printer. The print and filament settings remained the same, and everything worked out great.

Finally, I received my VOC sensor as well as a DHT22 temperature and humidity sensor. The first test already shows that ABS produces a lot of VOCs.

Probably because they shipped more printers in the time that you could basically pay as a kickstarter for the #Prusa XL and not receive any updates, communication, or honesty regarding the timeline.

Oh, BTW. We spoke of Dimafix and I mentioned that I took ABS and mixed it with ascetone as a slurry for my PETG prints and actually refilled my Dimafix bottle.
This worked great for PETG, like really and way cheaper than Dimafix. But hear my warning, don't do this for ABS😂 that stuff was stuck on there for hours.

Aslo, only PLA cones off easily. The shrinking of ABS can even break a plate. This was the cause of my last two chips in my glas.
For a standard ABS print, like 10x10cm I might use Dimafix on corners, but my hot-bed and enclosure prevents warping. But if I were to print my full bed size, I use something like glue-stick, just because it can either stick too well due to the large surface or even the 0.5% shrinkage can shatter the glass.
You've told me before that PC warps. This is due to shrinkage when cooling. So my experienced guess would be to do it if you find it to stick quite well.

"Heatbed: Powder-coated TXT or satin sheet with a glue stick will provide the best adhesion. Note that while the powder-coated satin sheet works perfectly without a glue stick, it is recommended to use a separation layer to prevent surface wear."

You gain this in experience of what you can print and what you can't. I have started to design parts and periodically take them to the slicer and see how overhangs will behave. I then changed my design again.
Like this speaker needs to be sexy AF! But people can't see the inside, so you could change it their to not have any overhangs.

Will also be interesting to see how the sound changes with different infill. You don't want it to reosnate at low frequencies. I would recommend having a weight in the base and rubber feet to keep it firm on the counter.

I am very happy I finally did mine. I designed my own mount and light, which was great! I hover printer thin defusers in white ABS to slide over, which are just a layer or 2 too thick. We need to redo them just with 2 or 3 0.2mm layers as the light is too soft now.
I also use it as a mood light😂 I just love my dark room at night with just my enclosure lights on. It looks like a fireplace and just gives my room this great feeling.
You can automate them with #Moonraker and #Klipper. Mine automatically turns on at the start of a print and turns off at the end of a print.
