STEP files are the best for sharing designs and .3mf files for print files.
I actually recently printed something for a friend, and he could simply share his .3mf file with me. I opened it in #PrusaSlicer and simply changed the profiles to my printer. The print and filament settings remained the same, and everything worked out great.
