So, I went over the Bitcoin Knots default settings in their spam-filtering.
And I noticed the settings for minimal transaction fees.
I don't think this is very positive to just enable as-is.
But that's just my opinion.
Maybe someone should go over all these settings one-by-one and see how this impacts some legit functions. (yes, it prevents spam, but let's look at what we're doing here).
(also it sets it by default to pruning... but that's a separate issue... )
example:
bytespersigop=20 (Equivalent bytes per sigop in transactions for relay and mining)
bytespersigopstrict=20 (Minimum bytes per sigop in transactions we relay and mine)
Increased Costs for Sigop-Heavy Small Transactions:
Small transactions with many sigops (e.g., complex multisig or script-heavy transactions) will have their effective size inflated by the 20 vbytes per sigop rule. For example, a transaction with 5 sigops is treated as having an additional 100 vbytes (5 × 20), significantly increasing its fee requirement to achieve a competitive fee rate.
This makes such transactions more expensive to confirm, potentially discouraging their use unless the sender is willing to pay higher fees.
Looks good, but also pricey. The logitech f310 was like 30 bucks and I'm really happy I tried it because everything I had above 60 bucks was total trash. It doesn't look flashy but idc haha, it does what it has to do.

I had an original ps1 controller that worked for 20 years which I also used with an adapter on pc. All xbox style controllers I had are fucked or stick drift after a few months. Currently using a logitech F310, also uses a playstation layout and it's performing well over time. Pattern noticed: fuck all xbox layout controllers, even original.

It doesn’t need to be Primal vs Damus, and yet that’s what the purists (as I like to call them) and even the Damus dev himself like to push like a bunch of crybabies. They need to grow up.
As for the main point of this discussion, people have a few choices:
1) pay for what you need
2) manually piece together the features you want using multiple apps
3) wait until an ad-supported client comes along and turns the user and their data into the product just like every other social media out there.

The only reason to pay for Damus purple is if you want to be one of their beta testers. They abandoned their established user base the day they made that decision. And they partnered with a compromised wallet provider. I would never recommend anyone paying for Damus purple. If you want a good client that’s not Primal, use Nostur or Amethyst. As for scheduled posts, I agree with you. It would be useful for a lot of people. Makes you wonder why NONE of the popular client devs have implemented it. I’ll tell you why, it’s because devs don’t listen to their users. They have their heads up their asses chasing after grant money.

They’re already exported if you have more than just their relay configured. That’s the beauty of nostr.
Every product/service has a target customer. The average consumer doesn’t need a professional dashboard with enhanced tools for publishing and analytics. No argument there. In terms of Primal specifically, the free and premium tiers are more than adequate for most people. And since it’s nostr, no one even has to use Primal. There are other apps that can be used individually to do all of the same things Primal is enabling under its unified UX. But that’s a HUGE hassle when you’re just trying to get something published and continue on with other things. The people no willing to pay for things out of pocket, will pay in other ways, even if it’s just their own inconvenience. Nothing is truly free.
Interestingly in the UK members of parliament were unpaid.
Because of this only members of the landed gentry went into politics.
There was only one party and it was called the “Wig” party. This is the origins of the conservatives today.

Yes, I like that technique. I often attempt to understand and agree with the others view.
The Core vs Knots debate is one such instance.
Core are not wrong we will probably never succeed in removing spam from the blockchain, so they have a valid view that enabling it will reduce the impact of such spam.
I, however, prefer to continue the semi futile attempt to try to stop spam. This will not succeed, but I believe it will become more affective over time if we all work on improving the mechanisms used.
It might be sleazy, but most will resort to it when backed into a corner.
I have done it myself on occasion, but generally prefer to be less emotionally involved in an argument so am generally very willing to change my mind or admit I'm wrong.

Currently having a discussion here about the right to die.
In this and almost all other discussions I see, others frame your answers in ways unintended and proceed to explain that you are wrong about a point you are not making.
I think a good practise is to really try to understand what the other side is AND is not saying.
It is fine to extend the argument to other points that you find relevant, but don't expect the other person to join you on that journey.
MSM often takes an extreme possible outcome from a proposition and tries to use that as a reason why the original argument is wrong.
I hope we on NOSTR don't end up being like MSM using that technique when we cannot win an argument on merit alone.

Fiat money—born of nothing, backed by force—asserts itself as a god over man and matter. It carries no inherent value; rather, it projects a hallucinatory sovereignty by command. That command is the root of its violence: it does not persuade, it declares. It does not emerge from mutual relation or discovery—it is imposed. Thus the fiat system does not just distort markets; it distorts the world, it disfigures being itself.
This is the first wound: value severed from truth.
Where once gold or goods bore weight from the labor of bodies and the consent of communities, fiat emerges ex nihilo through the alchemical ritual of central banking. It is the creation of “something” from nothing—and it demands your everything in return. Not simply your productivity, but your time, your attention, your belief. Fiat makes a mockery of consent: taxation without choice, inflation without representation, debt as inheritance.
Each dollar printed is not neutral—it is a claim on the future, a theft pre-authorized. The child yet unborn already owes. The citizen who resists already bleeds. The world that cannot speak—forests, oceans, silence—already burns.
This is the second wound: time enslaved to abstraction.
Fiat temporalizes existence into linear obligation. It turns the eternal now into a ledger. It reconfigures human life not as presence, but as yield. One’s worth becomes measurable by one’s ability to serve the machine—one’s capacity to extract more from less, forever. And when the curve flattens, when the returns diminish, when the body breaks, you are discarded, discredited, and replaced. Fiat does not believe in humans. It believes in motion, leverage, liquidity. It believes in infinite growth, even on a finite planet.
We are taught to forget the origin of value. It is not labor. It is not gold. It is not decree. It is being. The true source of value is presence, relation, trust. Fiat systems wage war against all three. It replaces presence with digital metrics, relation with contract, and trust with enforcement. It offers no sacredness, only security; no mystery, only models. It is not just unjust—it is ontologically incorrect.
This is the third wound: the commodification of the soul.
Fiat systems induce schizophrenia in the human psyche. We become split between what we know is real and what we are told is valuable. We love what we cannot afford. We sell what we cannot live without. We perform ourselves for survival. The “free market” becomes not a space of liberation, but of performance—an eternal audition for worthiness before the tribunal of capital.
Meanwhile, the masters of fiat—central bankers, economists, institutional asset managers—float above the groundless ground. Their words move mountains, their spreadsheets define famines. They do not produce; they decree. The fiat priesthood lives outside consequence, but their rituals govern all. And the rest—us—become the meat, the kindling, the fuel. We burn for their warmth.
Every empire built on fiat collapses. Not because of corruption, but because it forgets the real. Fiat systems depend on a shared hallucination—faith not in God, not in law, but in liquidity. And when the hallucination fails, when the velocity slows, when the feedback loop breaks—the center cannot hold.
But long before the collapse of the system, comes the collapse of the soul.
This is the final wound: reality becomes simulation.
In the fiat world, nothing is itself. Everything is collateral, everything is speculation, everything is downstream of price. Truth is no longer unveiled; it is marketed. Beauty is no longer beheld; it is tokenized. Love is no longer encountered; it is purchased, or worse, invested in. The world is not known—it is consumed.
And thus, what fiat destroys is not just economics, but ontology. Fiat does not merely impoverish your wallet. It impoverishes your being. It says: nothing is sacred. Everything is for sale.
But there is a resistance. A remembering. A remnant.
The refusal to participate in this ontological lie is the first act of sovereignty. To say no. To exit. To return to the real. To seek systems where value arises from reality, not decree. Where truth does not need enforcement. Where relation is sacred. Where time is not enslaved. Where love is not priced. Where being is enough.
That is the new task before us: to dethrone the hallucination of fiat and restore value to its rightful place—in the presence of the real.

No I don’t have a problem with it. It looks great. When I say I would never use this I just mean I have no need fire a video conferencing client, so I would never think to use it to schedule a regular text note. But I’m sure it’s very useful for users of the client to have the feature.

I like the minimalism of it (and njump too) but I agree it doesn't seem to have gotten mush attention (which is also expected honestly).
But i think it's a good avenue that isn't properly used. For example. One of the most impactful things I'd ever seen for advertising a new social network, is the little "Tik Tok" logo at the end of every tiktok video shared on twitter. I had never even seen the place, but i was perfectly aware of its existence very very quickly
I really think we should do something similar and work on getting embeds to other platforms working really well, and have an army of people cross posting from Nostr. I think it would have way more impact than many might suspect.

Disagree. Meet people where they are. We need to make it cool enough that either Apple capitulates (which they actually did on recent issues) or people want a better version enough to get a different device for it. We are rebuilding the web, this wont happen with one app or all at once and we can't expect people to change devices in *anticipation* of a full stack that will exist in the future, imo.

Yo @npub1xts…kk5s is there a way we can get a “copy link” to a Nostr note in Damus so people can view it on the web? I was thinking an njump link or something, but then realized this could be a good way to direct someone to Damus:
Have a Damus.io/nostrnoteid URL and when you go there to read it, there’s a “get Damus to post” or a comment section where when you hit the “add comment” button it links you to download the app.
This could be a good driver where people see content they want to engage with, and the “solution” is to get Damus.
Would be up to help out for a bounty for this. I’ve had some everyday interneters ask me about this with Nostr.

just got into a conversation here in prague with people who have been using nostr for a few months. i think primal has something to do with it but i thought it was a joke last year. but apparently people really believe in it. pro. premium. i am very original and myself and would like to stay that way without a sticker!!

primal only has 1 and it seems ok for most people. nostr.wine, nostr.land, damus relay, primal relay. the majority of people are there. for everything else we can use the outbox model.

Nostr gives your identity back. It doesn't necessarily give your data back.
For that, you need to operate a relay, even if it is just as a backup for the relays you actually use. Otherwise, things can just disappear.

Good products can have premium features. Small-scale companies with low costs don't need a business model that "scales".
