I had a discussion recently with German LinkedIn about a project that the Minister of Labor wants to push through. Namely, that even more groups that were previously excluded should pay into the social security fund.
People here are now so dependent on and accustomed to the idea of a welfare state that they can't imagine any other reality. And without realizing that this actually subsidizes certain private sectors, such as the energy industry and general wages, which should have long since disappeared from a free market. Well, it won't last much longer. The system is eating itself.

Justin Welsh has a pretty interesting, regular newsletter, and this time he wrote about a subtle shift in people's mindset regarding social media. People are fed up with everything. The algorithms are annoying, the AI engagement is frustrating, and the constant outrage is exhausting. And by now, everyone has realized that relying on legacy social media is too risky for their business, so they’re exploring other options. What those options are remains vague, and there’s no mention of Nostr.
I also don’t think Nostr is the solution to social media fatigue. There’s a lot of annoyance and stress there too. It seems like humanity is looking for something completely different. We’re in a transitional phase. It could be that we’re not 'too early' with Nostr, but rather that we might be too late in copying the UI of other legacy services.
And I've been saying it for years: this timeline-based format is terrible. It really don't like it.

There's a weird trend going around lately. If you don't agree with the so-called "common opinion" of the "trending users" here you're basically told to just shut up — that's the vibe you keep getting. And this is coming from people who are into the wildest, most baseless conspiracy theories themselves, often from the MAGA crowd. Ironically, it's the same folks who pride themselves on loving freedom and being all about "no censorship". It's got this cult-like vibe, kind of like in Leonardo DiCaprio’s movie "The Beach" — the same type of know-it-all, arrogant people in the 25-35 age range. Okay, I have a confession to make: I'm back on LinkedIn.
Not because I was dying to (actually, I really wasn’t), but because someone seriously convinced me to reactivate my account there. LI says reactivation is only possible within 48 hours after deletion, but as I found out, you can actually do it even weeks or months later. Like I said, I didn’t just get talked into it — they even offered to run my account for me. So now someone else is posting for me; basically, I have a ghost social media manager now.
And what I had to admit: Nostr just isn’t far enough along to really support my income streams. And, I’m not in the mood to spend months here with 2–3 other weirdos repeating "circular economy" over and over. Nostr is still more like a playground — though for some haram business deals and some local American businesses, it seems to work, I know. But being in the EU .... EU is faaaar behind in that regard. That’s just how it is from my side.

Yeah, kind of. We're at a point where handymen are getting harder to find and are in demand everywhere, at least in Europe. It's becoming increasingly difficult to get an appointment with one. Yet, the market refuses to raise wages accordingly. The market isn't always rational, especially not in a "social market economy" system. We don't really have completely free markets anymore.
But I see the future trends in my kids too. They don't necessarily want to go to college and get into BS jobs, even though they could. They're also interested in jobs like mechatronics and car mechanics.

Lately, I've been thinking more and more that most modern jobs, including mine, are a bunch of crap. Developers, consultants, marketing/social media experts, life coaches, etc. All crap. Turn off the power, and it’s all gone.
I’m starting to long for a real job. Honestly, just flipping burgers. Digging in nature. Actually setting up and using real machines. Sweating it out in the kitchen (I did that a lot as a student), scrubbing and cleaning things. Sure, I do all this privately, but it would be nice to work in an honest, real job for a change.
A friend of mine works as a floor screed layer. Always working. Jacked as hell. Doesn’t train at all, just doesn’t have the time for fake shit like "gyms".
The fact that these types of jobs are poorly paid isn't the fault of the job itself. We just don't value honest work anymore.

I'm really losing it here. I wanted to set up a Coinos wallet for my daughter’s new Nostr account from the very beginning, but it doesn't work. Then I connected my wallet via NWC, but that doesn't work either. I thought, okay, I'll just create a Primal wallet, but the option is not active at all, and there's no indication of how to set it up. Then I tried a Yakihonne wallet, entered the username, it spins for a few seconds, and then the dialogue just freezes. Reloading, the Yakihonne wallet is nowhere to be found. I try again, and it says the username is already taken. So it's already there, but there's no indication of where it is or how to select it.
Honestly, is this how onboarding is supposed to work today?

Payment services like PayPal or Strike are really doing their best to advertise Bitcoin, whether they mean to or not. Last year, Strike held back a payment I got from overseas, labeled *me* as untrustworthy 🙂, and froze my account. Even after weeks of back-and-forth emails, nothing moved forward.
And now PayPal just decided to hold a payment I received today for 21 days. Their reason? I haven’t used PayPal as a recipient before. They say if I had 10 regular incoming payments, this kind of treatment wouldn’t happen.
Well, that’s not gonna happen. From now on, I’m only accepting Bitcoin for international payments.
Thinking of writing a quick how-to guide—like, how to download a good Lightning app, buy Sats through a connected exchange service, and then use those Sats to pay someone.
Anyone know a super simple app for that? The Lightning wallets are mostly good enough—it’s really the exchange integration, where you can directly buy Bitcoin into your Lightning wallet, that’s the tricky part. Are there any without KYC?

Hard question. I don't think so. And even if it did, most people have no other choice. And I don't see the fiat money receiver being involved in some form of riba, which is defined by effortless and guaranteed profit, like with interest. But Allah knows better.
But it's definitely better the less you're involved in this whole fiat system — for yourself and for society as a whole. If I have the choice, I always prefer to be paid in BTC, even if I sometimes incur losses when spending due to volatility.
I was thinking more of these wallet offerings where you borrow cash against your BTC collateral. I know 2 BTC wallets that offer that and 1 popular person who generates profits from his Bitcoin holdings in this way.
