My wife and I are in a somewhat rural area, and she sets up a stand in our front yard every day that it's nice outside for our soap. I love selling local, but I want more Sats. Can't just stack them, gotta earn them first.
You guys should be glad I didn't name Taylor Swift fifteen times 🙊
Lmao 😂 I should really prepare my examples in advance next time.
If 90% of the time users just share QR codes, do they even have to know?
Lightning seems to be most cost effective as a node for a group of people.(Alby hub style)
And if I'm running a mint with my homies that's basically what I'm doing already, so I might as well keep it there (more options).
Then send savings on-chain.

Interesting 🤔.
Who's revoking what key in that last part? The user, his key?
If you are grabbing embeddings from other users, there should be a link to the original model used for the embeddings. There are probably solutions for recovering the original text from the embedding and you can also just reembed the text yourself to compare the resulting vectors. But if you're grabbing enough of them that you're trying to make comparisons, you're giving some level of trust because at that level you might as well do the embeddings yourself. Additionally, if the embeddings are already being used in a recommendation system I'd imagine that they are there because they are useful and help increase the organization of the content - so I'd expect that there is less incentive to find embeddings that are maliciously inserted by a user.
Someone doing chat bubbles right 🥰
Don't assume things are needed because Big Tech has 'em.
Start with the most simple, workable solution and look at what Nostr allows fir from there.
Keys, Relays and Events really are a game changer. UX/UI copy cats beware 😜.
You don't need chat channels when, besides chat, you already have forum posts, wikis, articles and a gazillion other content types.
Each of which has a reply section by default and can be tagged into overlapping categories.
Sorry yeah, I get the fractional reserve part. But that would be a silly strategy anyway. If I was running a mint and nobody knew me, I'd go full reserve upon till the second I'm zero reserve.
Besides community #cashu mints (which I'm stoked about btw) I didn't come across any strategy that protects against the 1 second rugpull.
Why would a mint gradually rugpull though?
I still don't get this. If I'd do it I'd just rug everything everywhere all at once.
I'm sure @npub1m3x…a5sf and @npub1wqf…qsyn would love to get some feedback, by the way, if you notice anything missing or whatnot.

Literally how we secure greenhouses over here 😉
* had the right balance of privacy settings and public people discovery
* was a safe space where not everything is public, granular control of what is shared to whom
* faciltated conversations between people that know/respect each other
* was chaotic, people using it in their own way / for their own purposes
* used real names, non-anonymity
* used the social graph = relationships, NOT lists/tables
* introduction of news feed was widely hated, but spiked engagement like nothing else
* the facebook platform allowed integrated widgets/games as a win-win for facebook and widget/game devs
* groups kept people there
* “shipping features is way more fun than making things safe and secure”
Forum **and Chat** btw 🔥
So pumped for this.
@npub1jlr…ynqn is building exactly that
#nevent1q…wp89
Good thinking! And you're right, it's needs to be a two-way relationship-status-like thing.
Seems like these are most useful **for** devs.
Normies will most likely only really see and feel two categories:
1. Apps
2. Widgets 👉 Things that are functional **inside** Apps and are clearly non-native
Micro Clients be like
https://media.tenor.com/j-O9l_9zd28AAAAC/hello-there.gif
What are the events kinds and spec behind the chat messages in a space (i.e. relay)?
1. Offering hosting and computation services makes sense both for monetization and for providing a reliable product/experience
2. Pay-per-use of those services makes you more adaptive in a highly competitive market. Nothing stopping you from offering pre-paid bundles.
I have a very similar goal and a service like Relay.tools has almost everything already to make groups on relays happen. And it works.
NIP-29, however, overcomplicates everything by not having a 1:1 relaytionship with the group and copy pasting big-tech UX (Telegram etc...) that doesn't make sense on Nostr. None of the current apps work or have a clear goal. So why would relay services bother?
More on this here: #naddr1qv…uu5l
I might be Naive Nieling this, but I wasted a lot of time believing too much about the NIP-29 hype without checking its assumptions.
Well, we have the NKBIP-02 for vector embeddings, that @npub1m3x…a5sf wrote.
1. Fasting is a starvation experiment and doesn't exactly signal abundance to your body
2. For most people too much lipolysis **is** one of their main problems, stimulating more of that might not be the best plan.
3. Fasting only seems to have short term benefits for a specific subset of people, mostly male. Long term it lowers your metabolic rate and increases stress.
Minnesota Starvation Experiment, Ray Peat's blog and Weston A. Price's book changed my mind on all this. Tried all sorts of fasting before, all worsened my state. Nothing helped me like slowly increasing my calorie intake, with good food.
@npub10r8…t2p8 this is the sort of UVP that releasing apps on Nostr allows for.
Needs UX to give zappers tons of recognition of course.
Grants postpone thinking about that sort of stuff
Has anyone tried to just be like:
"Hey guys, I've got this new release here where I fixed this and this bug, made x feature way better, etc etc.... Buuuut, I won't release it until this post gets ⚡1.234.567."
#zapwalls

Yup, and you define for everyone what better means. MLS might only be "better" for a very small sunset of users. It certainly won't be for me.
With good enough encryption (NIP-44), new npubs and relays (private or specialized) you can go a looooong way. Without having to wait for specs and while retaining operability with most apps.

yep, there will be no way to get the emoji back from the hash, but you can always recover the account if you have the emoji and as for randomness, correct, if someone knows that you use an emoji key they "only" have to try all the possible emoji instead of all the possible words in the wordlist. it's a compromise for sure, but it's a fine one for the average person (and if you need more security, just don't use this system!)
If I get this right, this:
- only works in one direction
- would be a bit less random (or actually quite some bits lol 🙈 )
Both of which I'm more or less fine with.

Yes, they need to.
There are intuitive and fun ways to surface both Keys and Relays, and the responsibility that comes with their power.
Yeah, as long as apps keep surfacing:
1️⃣ Nsecs as dumb strings you can copy-paste
2️⃣ Relays as dumb commodity servers
Normies won't grasp their significance.
That's a good UX benchmark indeed

I'll write/record more on this later, but it comes down to:
1. Using a two-panel layout.
One panel for home, where you have direct all your notifications (per chat/community), your profile, your money, ...
The other panel for whatever you are reading (chat messages, articles, stories, ...). Here you can travel back by scrolling down (similar to the swiping down on mobile) or just go back one step with ⌘←.
Both panels are 99% identical to their mobile versions.
Adding more than two panels makes it very confusing and intense experience and adds a lot complexity.
2. Swipe left = Right click
On mobile you swipe left to, for example, access the options to reply/react/zap to a message. On a Mac trackpad this works great too, but people with a mouse can just right-click their way into the same options-modal.
That's it basically.
This is convincing me even more to start building this out in cross-platform language (like Dart/Flutter).
Nice, but I would be happy if at least one of these would work a bit.
* lnw.cash: Blank screen on Android, can't receive anything on desktop. Receive button does nothing
* nuts.cash: No Amber login on Android, crashes browser on desktop
* nutsack.me: no NIP-07 login at all
* highlighter.com: No login on Andreoid possible. New wallet button on desktop does not work.
Any hints? Browser is Firefox on desktop.
Baking analogies hitting hard 😳
💡 Just realized that generic replies (1111) can make highlights extra awesome:
1. You publish your highlight in generic reply to the URL (in this case, and to the event otherwise) + you add a comment in that reply if you want
2. You now have a place to go to see **all replies and highlights** on that URL (or event)
Good design doesn't need everyone to bluntly repost replies fOr ViSiBiLiTy.
If the whole discussion is already targeted at an appropriate audience (for example a Community Relay), you can use other UI's than an OP feed to surface valuable conversations about the common interest of that Community.
There's no problem with re-targeting a publication to a new group of people that is probably interested in it. There are simply better tools for that job. (sharing in chat/community/group, tagging specific profiles, embedding in another publication...)
You see it here too.
I almost exclusively have conversations with people who use clients optimized for deep threads: Coracle, noStrudel, Amethyst, ...
Twitter-clones don't do that well and incentivize way more "space dominating behavior" 👉 engagement farming at the OP level.
Targeted publication is mostly about inbox relays because you'd be "tagging" your selected profiles in their inbox with the event you want to share exclusively with them. Your personal relay is already part of the event, so their client knows where to look.
Next you need good UI that makes it clear that it's a private publication.
I use this kind of headers:
https://cdn.satellite.earth/7bcfe1478007d70033b5e22667be930cb91608923ddf3fa9f5f9270e6c8899b9.png
Which matches nicely with the targeted publication you can do with Community relays:
https://cdn.satellite.earth/da6911b627e2d19096bc57d3259b06dfa54f1401a6688c4beac3db5cc5d6c62d.png
I need a LEGO set for my kids.
They already have construction sites, farms, etc...
But they keep asking for a Meme Studio set.
Very well, if you surface them as Communities
You'd be AUTH'ing to publish a signed event, I don't see any issue there.
Twitter-like clients are not a great fit for this UX.
Community clients are. #workingonit
What would a client need to do to make this work with zaps (as opposed to #cashu?
The relay can send "messages" back to the user in the client, right?
I thought the &'#'s were my fault 😹
Didn't get what I was doing wrong.
Noted ✍️
Awesome!
I need this as a service:
- for spinning up my own relay (+ blossom server)
- where I can set my own prices **per event kind** (and **per kb** if we're talking media)
Yup, refunds are essential for I want to do with Communities too:
1. Someone publishes an Article about "Dinosaurs" in my "Swifties" community and pâys ⚡100 for that
2. I obviously reject that Article and immediately refund those ⚡100. Something I'm not obliged to do, but it hurts my reputation if I don't

No, it's not.
- They invent their own mark-up language
- They do not give the creator any guarantee on how it will be displayed
- They can be endless in the screen space they take up
- They cannot be used as Stories
- They cannot be used as Widgets that are in any way "Smart" because it always displays the exact same block structure. You cannot click a button and have it display something else, much less handle a Merchant Check-Out, play a game on it, etc...
- They are not a solution to handling the middle ground between different apps (displaying an app release event kind in apps that don't support this event type, for example)
- They don't let you do anything that you cannot currently do with existing event types. We already have polls, you can already make posts with links, images, videos, etc...
They're not useful and make Yakihonne look like any other engagement farming crypto platform.
They didn't even use atomic bombs.

You don't need Reviews.
You already have a Comment (and Zap) section by default.
People can embed / tag the book in other event types (articles, video, stories, ...) where they can discuss their thoughts about the book.
Nothing is stopping you (or anyone else) from bringing all that data together and create:
- Book Score
- Summary
- ...
You will already have people's level of appreciation of the book and their remarks and discussions. No need to ask them to do all of that again with a Review.

Still don't get how that works or what's even possible with that.
Can you, for example, have a quorum of keys that control one nsec and switch them out for an entirely different set of keys?
The tutorial is already there.
You just have to find it.
Once x.com becomes a custodial nsecbunker provider I think everybody who thinks Nostr is cryptographically unsound will be able to switch, knowing that their sacred keys will be finally safe.

there are increasing differences between based nostr and hype nostr.
based is better. hype always collapses eventually, and tries to blame everything and everyone else.
Sounds like you’re offended. How about let’s start with why you believe everyone should switch to v4v if the vast majority of creators don’t know about it and don’t care.
I’ve put a lot of effort into trying to onboard artists and music producers onto different platforms and I’ve actually received their feedback. They don’t care. They mostly want to make art or music and share with the widest possible audience.
Where’s your proof of work besides being inspired by a podcaster?
It’s crazy how it’s not being reported. The user videos on social media are mindblowing
I just want to check the 256 hash of the download to verify the integrity of the download.
How do I do this on a droid with out using the App Store first?
I would need to check the 256 hash with an online tool right?
If the hash’s match I can trust everything?
When you control all the money it’s easy to do.
Not only would I not use it but I probably would listen to them either. The only exception might be in a private message and I'm driving. But I'm not sure if I should be nostring and driving anyways.

In terms of search, what do you need?
1. type term
2. get high signal GIFs related to that term
3. basta
Or you're a more sophisticated man?
Got ya. What's the tag used for this?
What's a relay hint?
Is that the h-tag (used in NIP-29 for example)?
Turns out:
- most normies hate this
- logging in as someone else (npub-only) is getting less interesting by the day
One that's compatible with #blossom and Nostr's lack of a trusted central server?
Yeah:
- switching resolution while watching a video
- having a low data mode on podcast app that only downloads audio in 128kbps
- etc...
I remember @npub1v0l…qj49 alluding to something like during the Filemo panel in Nostrtiga but didin't get to ask.
What is your ideal GIF button exactly @npub1lrn…qnw5 ?
For me it's having direct access to:
- Search, obviously
- Recently used by me
- Saved by me
- Relevant GIFs to the context I'm in (for example GIFs that are often used in the communities/relays I'm posting this reply)

Yeah, I know that's what the experts say.
I automatically translate what they call "invasive" to "^pioneering species" and "opportunistic" and often that's exactly what regenerative farmers are looking for.

Running push notifications is so cheap.
We are currently serving 48,216 public keys that activated Push from 4046 online relays at an average of 3 DMs/Zaps per second for $34 dollars/mo.
That's $0.0007/user/month.
And I am running this with a single javascript server on Heroku. It's neither optimized, not the cheapest host.
Hahaha 🤣

Hehe yep, I get why you'd do that.
Follow lists are a mess though, I like the proposal to instead start using individual events for it: #nevent1q…33px
That's an extra action for the users to take (which very few currently do).
@npub10r8…t2p8 might be the kind of app where it feels more natural for users to publicly recommend handlers.
So you'd only look at kind 31989's published by users you know?
Only just realized this when rereading the nip.
That's not ideal, mmmm. It incentivizes apps to publicly add their app tags to events the user is publishing, without them knowing.
None of the above.
They client asks around for handlers (and might or might not store / know about your favorite apps for it).
afaik

1. Thanks!
2. Not yet, but there are way more emoji then seed words so there easily can be. Solves the multi-lingual issue the English seed words have, etc...
3. They do that with text too + the screen after this one offers various ways of safely storing it
4. Already have that, is relatively obvious
Involving normies in the key generation process, in a way that :
- is fun and engaging
- is very clearly different from the username + password experience
- demonstrates the randomness of the key visually
- doesn't give up on security and sovereignty
- maps directly on other possible methods of key storage/display (seed words, ...)

Keep it as write-protected. Then it can be an outbox for people who can write to it.
**Serif** is the best experience (for most people) for long form reading:
Articles, Book chapters, ...
**Sans** is great for shorter, more chopped up types of reading:
Posts, Wiki entries (with all the links etc...), Descriptions, ....
Many are critiquing Serif as inheritance from the printing press and so on.
Plus, a lot of research has gone into maximizing readability.
Lexend — Change the way the world reads. to name just one example.
But you don't see many customers actually preferring those fonts. Readability isn't everything. Serif has a great vibe going for it and fonts like "Lora" are very much readable enough.

Yeah, I've been thinking about that too. Works better then badges, since it's about the relationship between you and the community. Which can be anything: "Top supporter", "Tech support", "Jester", ...
I'm not looking at those relays for my DM inbox though (and everybody can see that, since I sign an event to say where I'm looking).
I would very much like to set a price for a private line of contact with me (for npubs not in my contacts/follows) and I'm nobody. Imagine the more valued npubs.
Nevermind, I have a solution for that.
Similar to the "add to private contacts" option I've got with my follow buttons for profiles.
Ow damn, you're right. Assuming that people want to announce to the world what communities they're reading (like we do in Big Tech land with follows) isn't smart.
The pricing, automation or manual verification you set up for approving Join Requests has a better and more efficient use case at the moment when someone actually wants to publish something in your community.
Why apply it for people that literally just want to start following the community?

The messages are probably showing up under "Inquiries", so you need to switch over to that tab on the "Messages" page to see them. BTW, we're currently pulling in all NIP-04 DMs, so messages aren't all listing-specific; that will be changed in an upcoming release.
Usernames are also already displayed, they might just not appear due to network issues or latency. Refreshing usually fixes that.

Yeah, I like NIP-66 a lot.
But that's for discovering relays, not for discovering services like yours that let me spin up a relay (for a community in my user's case).
For services there's DVM's and another nip (if I'm not mistaken) but they both require the services to send 1 price offer to the requester.
For relay/server/node providers that's not great because their price schemes are a bit more complex. Paying for X amount hosted stuff for Y amount of time, for example.
Same, takes awhile.
Always see things in my feed first.

So far just birch & leather bracelets, and I wrapped a candle... but this sheet is big. I'm thinking bookcover maybe? Lol
We already have stuff for finding providers that support/offer XXXXX, so that's not where I'm stuck.
Let's say I select **Relay Tools** out of this list and want to:
1. Check out your offer(s), pricing scheme, etc...
2. Pay and spin up a Community Relay
I'm looking for the best UX that preferably can happen within the app. (an app which will have DM chats and handle Hypernote widgets btw)
Do you think relay operators' offers will be standard enough that it can be spec, for example?
I've never used NIP-29.
I can't see the video. File corrupt. 🤷🏻♀️

Time, money and energy that goes into NIP-05 is not being spent on Relays.
This is true during:
- the onboarding of new users
- use of an app that is constantly verifying DNS stuff in the background
Users need Relays anyway and they literally make most "problems" addendums like NIP-05 pretend to fix complete non-issues.

I used "Profile Lists" before and somehow "Categories" or "Labels" has a weird feel to it for people. Although that's obviously what you're doing: categorizing npubs with labels.
Brought up the same poiny after the WoT panel at Nostriga.
Just replace hyped up terms like WoT with what people actually mean with it: your network.
Given the fact that newcomers don't have a network, their network cannot be a valid entry point. So then you're left with someone else's network, which sucks since it's catered to that individual and not to you or some kind of niche interest you have.
Communities however make it the Admins job to cater to those niche interests and serve as perfect entry points, given their focus and interoperability with other overlapping Communities.
Open question to me is still:
What does it technically mean to **belong** to a community?
Haha, that last point resonated 😅
You want communities/groups to have (and take responsibility for) their own relay, server and fall back options.
Since anyone is inevitably part of multiple overlapping communities you don't really have the whole single point if failure thing.
Yup, exactly.
That key difference is suddenly makes Smart Clients more centralizing and discriminatory than Smart Rrlays.
Smart Relays can be accessed by anyone that has even the lightest, dumbest device, and they have a ton of competition from other Smart Relays that sovereign profiles can take their business to.
Private, local and public community relays almost always allow for a simpler, more Interoperable and less centralizing (surpriingly) solution.

Nah, probably 99% of packages are open source. No rug risk. Just tracking, maybe.
Just stumbled across the pub.dev part indeed :Check:
So they can rug your access to packages or what does that mean?
It's open source, both Dart and Flutter. The only stupid googly thing is you need to disable by-default analytics when installing. And use pub.dev hosted on google infra.
Dart is a great language, much better than JS/TS in my opinion - especially now that they are adding metaprogramming abilities. The compiler is solid, devtools are great.
Flutter is fast and will output to pretty much anything (including web, though it definitely does not *feel* like web) and there are tons of libraries in the ecosystem. Including many good native OS looking widget libraries like Material, Cupertino, Adwaita, etc.
Downsides: Less devs than Javascript, obviously. And too much reliance on Google, who could pull the plug. But it's open source and so many companies are invested in it that I highly doubt it will die.
I need something like this to be part of an "Invite to Group Chat" where I can Uncle Jim the living zaps out them.
At least that's what I'm designing for 😜

They're all yours sir, do with them what you want.

Do you have a profile for gitworkshop?
I'll send you files later today in various colours (as well as SVG's that you can play with).
Following Beyoncé indicates that you probably think (i.e. trust) that she's the real Beyoncé, but that's about it. Says nothing about how much you trust Beyoncé with/on anything.
Easiest (and most fun!) fix is nicknames
"Your Network" and "Your Social Graph" are both better terms than "Web of Trust" when it comes to things that aren't about trust but about you and your connections to others.
C'mon devs, you can do it! 💃

In what way can they control / rug / manipulate / deceive you with it?
the darkened secondary color is nice. It is still quite a blue purple.
I've been using #9333ea for purple, which is a similar contrast but much less blue. Maybe it is a bit inconsistent?
Do you think the fact that it doesn't work well on black / white is a problem? The logo needs to work well on black and white. I suppose it would be nice for screenshots to work well on black and white too.
The background colors used in gitworkshop.dev is part of the charm of the current design aesthetic. Maybe it time for the color scheme to mature a bit.
I was involved for two years as a product owner of building a Flutter app (proudwheels.com) in '21 and '22. All junior devs on the project, there was just one senior back then.
Flutter is better than using React Native imo, but there are indeed not much devs out there who have a real senior experise with Flutter / Dart.
But if you're an indiedev and would like to use a hybrid framework for building 1 codebase for all your distributions, then Flutter is a good choose. I think the ecosystem is still growing.
So less collabs, because fewer Dart devs?
Total coincidence of course + totally invisible to most, but they're there.
So you haven't seen the workshop pliers yet in the white space? 😜

That "secondary" purple doesn't contrast well with both black and white (like nearly all of those DaisyUI colours btw). Would need to darken it then (on the right).
Haha 😂 seems few look at it. I wanna know why.
have a question about color. Did you put thought into using that blue?
The current GitWorkshop color palette is as follows:
```json
{
"color-scheme": "dark",
"primary": "#ff79c6",
"secondary": "#bd93f9",
"accent": "#ffb86c",
"neutral": "#414558",
"base-100": "#282a36",
"base-content": "#f8f8f2",
"info": "#8be9fd",
"success": "#50fa7b",
"warning": "#f1fa8c",
"error": "#ff5555",
"nostr-purple": "#9333ea"
}
```
It is a color palette from the DaisyUI Dracula theme, with the standard DaisyUI purple.
What do you think about using purple as the logo color to bring in Nostr connotations?
For ngit, did you take the red from the Git logo? Perhaps that red doesn't sit nicely on my current color palette.
@npub149p…722q , you have excelled yourself. There is so much I like about the gitworkshop logo.
1. Forward motion: Progress, positive, uplifting. The lines aren't moving in a 'roundabout' fashion like they easily could with the 'W' shape, but instead are driving forward.
2. Strong and clear git connotations on many levels:
* the use of nodes connected by lines.
* shaped as a git graph (lines don't go backwards).
* shaped as a physical fork (and "fork" is key in the git vernacular).
3. Multiple tips: The git graph has multiple tips, symbolizing multiple PRs ahead of the central master branch. This really represents gitworkshop as a place to view, discuss, and collaborate on code proposals.
That's why I married a gardener 😹

Very simple, but very consistent 😉 Wdyt?
Trying to find general ways to handle spam client-side for every use case or niche leads to endless discussion and disagreements.
Every Community caters to different niche audience (which can be just one person, you, btw) and can have their own unique way of curating for that niche.
On Community Relays.
A public square will always lead to master vs slave dynamics.
Many interoperable private squares will not.
Why do relays need zap-splits?
Their offer is actually scarce (unlike content, software, etc...).
They can set prices.
If you provide commodity relays and you'll get commodity prices, of course.
Cater to niches and you''l get niche prices.
I reply that fast on my own posts lmao 👉 thread creation
On a long enough timeline everyone becomes a Community Admin

So obvious, it makes it good? 😜
@npub15qy…yejr
Ego and blindness to how huge the incentives are to have your own relay(s).
Relays are permissionless Communities with interoperability and monetization built in.
That means that you don't have a company relay, the relay IS the company.
That's the sort of thing I want my relay/blossom server to do, not my phone. #offlinefirst

Gotta the love the fiat-bros coming in with their "plant-protections" 😉

Finally, a skillful spammer appears.
Surprised it took this long.
Communities fixes this 🔁
"But subscriptions are low mental cost, you know, people don't want to think about every little payment"
Turns out they're higher mental cost and now people have to think about many big payments that follow them around 🤦.
Free movies and Fat zaps fixes this #OnlyOnNostr
Lack of transparency (through lying, omitting info or overloading customers with it) quickly turns marketing into deceptive manipulation.
Love using real world examples (like restaurants and farmer markets) too btw. Makes quite a few things more obvious, especially when it comes to marketing and monetization in bazaar style, high competition contexts.
Signed.
Yours.
Truly.
:Nostr:
It just needs to be opt-in and obviously public (like in next.nostrudel).
Making everyone's browser history public would be insane for dsicovery too.
Few willingly opt-in to that kind of stuff.
If you want to scare away normies from day one: make stuff public without them knowing.
@npub1ye5…knpr is (like with DM's etc) holding a mirror once again and making people see what Nostr and its apps are broadcasting publicly.
Love the feature.
Also, turned it off 😹 .
Still not liking the two standards for long form.
I am enjoying asciidocs though.
None of them let me zap you 😹
No prob. Also turned it off.
I prefer zapping releases over giving up privacy.
I love that I can just click and directly see what this nip is again.
Is there any proposal for embedding wiki-links like this in kind-1's?
That would be next level awesomeness 😍
Proving once again to be one of the best designers out here sir 💪
https://media.tenor.com/55w7fkjhnv0AAAAC/elmo-lemons.gif
That's a perspective I have not heard before.
Of course, it must be mentioned here that the Founders did not exactly intend a standing army, either. Instead of a professional army, a militia would be responsible for defense.
We've obviously departed a long way from that, and this departure certainly colors more recent discussions on the Second Amendment.
Start a community and charge for replies 😆 .
That said, paid replies probably contain more information than zaps of similar amounts (especially if only members can reply).
They had #bigdisks in those days
The fun thing is that community relays (f.e.) are compatible with the timeline.
No need to scrap. Just need to build, gate, decorate and charge.
I think I have an answer to your "Who should run a mint?" question 😂 .
Only just got used to MD and Obsidian, damn.
Adapt or die 😂
So Asciidoc is mostly a fresh start + some more default features. Ok.
You guys seem to be clearly going for this.
So I'll stop arguing against and start arguing for making everything Asciidoc instead.
You cannot have Articles, Descriptions, etc be MD now. You either have a Standard or you don't.
Next, how do I write Asciidoc in Obsidian? Or anywhere else offline on desktop + mobile?
Uncle Jim = Community Admin Jim 🌍 🔫
1. For Zines, you're going to need something like Hypernotes (think Interactive PDF's) anyway: #naddr1qv…pwwk
2. Diagrams, Graphs and advanced Tables are a b*tch when it comes to displaying them properly on mobile. Creators already hate it when they don't have the guarantee of proper display on the same platform, just imagine this across XXXX different apps.
3. If you're going for universality through a common library anyway, you might as well just go for Nostr flavored MarkDown: #naddr1qv…f0u3
4. I'm making things like app and music album descriptions be wikis behind the hood, so that original publishers are filling in our great encyclopedia as a byproduct 💪 . Asciidoc complicates that.
5. There are a lot of WIki- and Nostr-specific things to standardize to make them usable, so you'll be flavoring all over AsciiDoc instead. Examples: a "quick facts" section for wikis, Nostr event embeds, zettels, ...
What features specifically were you missing with MarkDown ?
I still don't get it.
No spec there sir.
I can see a bit how they do in the json, but that's it.
Wait what!? 👀👀👀
Where's the spec for this?
Same. Constant enough to be worth building on :Check:
Like with Bitcoin, those scientists could do with a little bit more "Verifying" and a little less "Trusting": https://www.sheldrake.org/essays/how-the-universal-gravitational-constant-varies
None of these are actually constant.
They're very strong habits, with very strong incentives at play.
Doesn't change the fact that they belong on the same list 😉 .
CCN stands for "Cool Communities on Nostr", right?
https://cdn.satellite.earth/fa3185867c5da5d9f0fde68e17cb0900c3c4a1b736e245b51e265d0185fa20f9.png
💯 a reflection indeed
Also, Community Relays don't have to be paid, they just have to discriminate. Prices are just really universal (and profitable) tools of discrimination.
💡 An @npub1get…0nfm NIP-29 Community Hub that let's you run a #cashu mint on top
If it's as easy as setting up a Google Drive:
- but with your nsec in control
- and cheaper
- and for literally any content type (that are all open standards)
- etc etc etc
Why is it weird to assume that most people will do this?
If Nostr is the omnivore we think it is, the incentive to run your own relay(s) is kinda huge.
Ok. Let's gooooow!
NIP 29 chat next?
I don't find zaps on theforest btw.
Is that normal?
@npub10np…tl5h let's you do this on relay.tools, my man 💪
I'll try that.
Because on groups.fiatjaf.com it did work indeed!
Thanks.
1. No, I mean both. All current Nostr clients can keep doing what they do. Community apps will just start filtering/publishing by Community.
2. Yes exactly. You tag any event with the NIP-29 communities you want to publish in.
3. Most shitposts are low signal chat messages targetted at an in-group. If they're not, they're worth being targeted at the right (and most profitable!) audience.
Yup, in the NIP-29 test-group (graphene-os).
The physical world is the demonstration
I did, but no thanks.
Sticking to what I'm good at:
Design, Drumming and Dadstr
This guy is in the chat 24/7 😂
Stable diffusion sucks at logos.
I haven't looked into Vector Generation models in a while but that's what you'd need.
Yup, in communities all of this is way clearer for the user anyway.
You say "GM" in the chat, not in a forum post 🤦♂️.
True.
Although ~~relays~~ communities can have their own defaults per event kind.
I wouldn't keep chat messages long term in most of my communities for example.
(incentivising using long term formats for long term stuff)
Lol, I'll stop here. Half of my posts are just "Community Relays fixes this" at this point 😂 .
Yes. Waaaay easier to do on community relays btw 💪
Low effort minimal logo making:
1. look for a simple svg icon that kinda represents what you need (f.e. here https://iconify.design/)
2. paste it a circle, it neeeeeds to work in a circle
3. edit the svg if needed (in figma or sth)
What do you need?
And you decided to work on E-corn 😂
This and @npub1tm9…xn72 are still very buggy, damn.
- Messages keep disappearing or only load later
- Join requests have to be repeated nearly every time
- ...
This is surprising since it's all on the same relay 🙃
How is A-corn not in the A category? 🤦♂️
Nostr is the ONLY place where 🅱️ is even possible.
Nowhere else can you make this work.
Nostr allows for:
- All content types, without every app having to handle all these types
- Publishing the same content in multiple overlapping Communities
- Interoperable monetization
Most apps are currently building on 🅰️ only to realize that, just like their Big Tech benchmarks, they then need algo's to curate the random mess that approach inevitably creates. A free market of algo's sure is step up from those Big Tech platforms, but only focusing there can make you blind to fact that Nostr allows 🅱️ too.
You rarely want to see everything from someone your following.
So, what's the most natural way to filter for the good stuff?
🅰️ by Content type
🅱️ by Community (and thus Topic / Interest / Goal)

Is there a way to do this with your own npub but on your own relay?
To then use it as a personal archive and a place to share selected events from (either to the "public square" or certain npubs).

Quod est "web components stuff"?
Whipping up some visual examples.
I don't want people to underestimate what this means 😉 .
Also:
#naddr1qv…f0u3
I'm gonna nickname him like that in my Nostr contacts 😢
Where can I see how those Table events are formatted in plain text?
OK, so you guys showed me McDonald's jacked prices at least 130% on the core budget item: the mcchicken. Mentally recalculating McDs as "literally more than twice as expensive is a doozy, sure but what I really wanna know: did they do any shrinkflation on top of that to really wring out the margin? Smaller patties, cups, fries, cheese or something? Or was it all just pure price action?
