me too, though at this point I feel like they should make an official documentary on it. I believe all of the dust has settled with the Jackson estate, so why not film a feature length doc about it? Or at least do some interviews for a book. The hack they did to make it ship on time was unprecedented, even though this is what everyone does these days.

whether you can automate pipelines easily or not is orthogonal to whether you run a container platform.
This could be done by scp’ing to a deterministic directory tree and using a systemd unit instance that points at that directory.
Container orchestration can be “the computer asks the service manager to stop a service and start another via ssh”. Containerization is just chroots with condiments; there’s nothing that requires this to be complicated.

I cannot for the life of me find this in the docs anymore though.
But trust me - if you set the log group up under /aws/vendedlogs/servicename and set up the right resource policy (CLI required), it will be billed differently than if the log group is called something else.
It ends up being cheaper, but plug it into the calculator.

dumb question: are you using /aws/vendedlogs/route53resolver as the log group prefix (or route53 instead)?
Reason I ask is that logs put in that prefix are billed differently, but this is not well documented anywhere. I’m also not sure what prevents you from putting stuff into /aws/vendedlogs which are not vended logs other than the honor system.

I did Suisun City’s first pride today - no parade and Facebook made it seem like there would be fash violence, but it was good! Only one person showed up in a fursuit, but they look like they about melted when I saw them headless later.

Also one of my great uncles married a fully Navajo woman (whose name was very difficult to reconfigure for American documents, so she usually went by Ella), and had a very brown child who is named after my grandfather. And he is unfortunately a raging racist. He currently lives in Bakersfield.

I also know my great uncles ran a criminal enterprise involving prohibition out of Leslie’s Cafe in Sallisaw, OK in their early 20s and late teens. This place mysteriously burned down in the late 90s, presumably because the owner got old and there were literal skeletons in the closet that they didn’t want to deal with. They briefly reopened down the street, and that location is now Maria’s, which is a great Mexican food place - and I say that as someone who has been in CA for a decade.

no family members to call, but I’ll share that my great uncles were all older than my grandpa, and as kids they spoke Cherokee with my great grandmother (and some with my white great grandfather). This resulted in them getting hazed at school (at this time, usually it only went to 8th grade), which was formative for my grandfather: he distanced himself from his heritage, so I missed out on a lot as I grew up because my dad missed out. Great uncles did their best to try to teach us though.

This presumes that even if I fully understood the language that I would be able to understand the dialogue without subtitles or that the localization of the dub hasn’t edited the show (Sonic X being targeted at late teens in Japan but the US dub being targeted at children so they sanitized the grittiness and mature language, removing the lesbian stuff from Sailor Moon).

you’re meant to think about it like a cloud provider in a box, as I understand. So you’d launch an instance to run containers just like on EC2 or Azure. I have to assume they’re planning on something akin to Fargate or Lambda as well, but I don’t work there, so idk.

if you have a computer, try seeing if you can snag the files from the app’s documents/data directory, in case they still have the files but the app doesn’t read them anymore
I forget how to do this. There used to be a way to do it with libimobiledevice tools but I have no idea if they’re still up to date with the current iOS. iTunes used to be able to do it too but I haven’t used it in a long time.

I just had to let go of thinking of these as OO visibility and instead thinking of how they work with messages in the Smalltalk sense. And in that context, Ruby’s protected is really just a badly named something else, and only public and private actually make any sense. in the case of our community, I’m not so sure it’s just the momentum that has to be good enough. DHH has previously requested other projects to stop using similar names (https://web.archive.org/web/20100507003359/http://grails.1312388.n4.nabble.com/Groovy-on-Rails-is-no-more-kind-of-td1313422.html), so I doubt some Rails fork containing the words “Rails” or “on” would be able to exist without DHH’s blessing.
I’ve seen a half dozen PRs that DHH refused because he disagrees, but which are technically sound and in line with the philosophy… so I worry things will come crashing down eventually

I agree with Daniel mostly. The one issue I would call out - because we have this problem in the Rails community - is if the community doesn’t own or have an unrestricted license to all of the IP, then creating a fork isn’t really possible.

caveat: the people doing this creative work have to avoid biasing the model by writing/drawing things that they don’t want to (to avoid it being unnatural)
So maybe LLMs should give folks the same prompts users submit and let them draw/write/etc. the things they find the most interesting? But these people have to do so without AI assistance :).

Caveats: Mikrotik’s DHCP server can only delegate /64s, and I assume most gear works this way. So you’ll probably statically assign fd00::254/64 to your router and use automatic IP assignment for the rest of your network.

IPv6 admins will tell you not to do this, but assign yourself a local prefix (fd00-fe00 IIRC) and assign addresses like you do with NAT (though this would be static, at first). Get that working.
Next, get an Internet routable prefix working. If your ISP doesn’t give you a /56 or bigger, this will be a pain in the ass borderlining on impossible. You’ll have both addresses.

Apparently 13.x-RELEASE is the end of the line for #TrueNAS on #FreeBSD.
