in the case of our community, I’m not so sure it’s just the momentum that has to be good enough. DHH has previously requested other projects to stop using similar names (https://web.archive.org/web/20100507003359/http://grails.1312388.n4.nabble.com/Groovy-on-Rails-is-no-more-kind-of-td1313422.html), so I doubt some Rails fork containing the words “Rails” or “on” would be able to exist without DHH’s blessing.
I’ve seen a half dozen PRs that DHH refused because he disagrees, but which are technically sound and in line with the philosophy… so I worry things will come crashing down eventually
