Question for anyone who has thoughts (and boosts are welcome):
I've heard some negative things about link tree, or more specifically the people who run it, so I don't want to use their service (this isn't the question, nor do I wish to debate it).
I do have my own domain/s I can host my own shit on. If I wanted to make something similar (even though I do have a lot of the links in the main menu on my primary domain's blog), what should I include?
Obliviously social media and chat contacts I am comfortable having public, but what else should and shouldn't be included here? I know I could just look at other people's link trees and attempt to copy what I see, but I'm largely asking in case there are things that I might miss or things that people wish were included but aren't.

So, I've been working my way through The Expanse by checking the DVDs out from the local library. The first season played just fine on my computer, but I ran into issues with the first disc of the second season, so I drug out my PS2, hoping maybe it would have better luck. It did, thankfully, but is still running into some problems.
I've managed to largely get through the episodes despite the glitches — they seem to land in different parts of the episodes between the individual episode playback, and the play all playback, thankfully. Except the last scene of Paradigm Shift. (Those of you who've watched the series will know why that scene was kinda a shitty one for the disc to fail on for both playback options. I looked it up, and thankfully they reuse the footage in the next episode, so I didn't totally miss out, but it sucked.)
I just emailed the library to let them know I've run into issues trying to watch the discs, and asked if I need to do anything when I bring them back so they can check them over before putting them back into circulation. Hopefully they're quick about replying to emails at my local branch, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's something as simple as talking to a librarian when I return it after I (attempt to) watch the third and fourth discs.

Okay, so on one hand, ACAB, and especially fuck their racially biased "enforcement". On the other hand, those fucking speed cameras have been proven over and over again to be set up specifically for revenue enhancement.
If the cameras are implemented with other speed reducing traffic infrastructure, to improve safety of everyone involved instead of increasing the chances of creating violations to ticket, I can support them.
Give us longer yellow lights. Pauses between the lights changing. Design roads that encourage people to drive slower overall. We need to be pushing for those changes so we can move away from the racist asshole cops.

I do have a second one that I don't currently have a place to display it. It's a Beatles Yellow Submarine one that was a gift. If I ever figure out how to afford to live somewhere that isn't just me subletting a single room in a bigger house, I will make sure I have it out on display. I have a lava lamp, a rocket ship one. Love the stupid thing. Bulbs never seem to last in it. Does anyone know where to find s11 incandescent 40watt bulbs that might actually last me more than about three months in the lamp? This is about the lifespan I was getting when buying the "official" bulbs from Lava Lamp too, so I don't think the bulb that just burned out is defective or anything.
It's not that the bulbs are expensive, mind you. I bought the one that burnt out for $5, and I'd installed in on halloween and it burned out today. I can buy more of the same brand in a two pack, bringing the price down to $3.49/bulb. It's just that recycling lightbulbs is annoying, and going through about four a year for a decorative lamp seems wasteful. I can't switch to an LED bulb or whatever, because what makes a lava lamp work is it needs to get warm enough to make the wax float to the top of the fluid it's suspended in.
I'll probably go pick up the two pack replacements tomorrow, but if anyone has any experience (not theories, I can DuckDuckGo for those all night) I'd love to hear about it.

So, Tidal had stopped doing the thing that pulled me to the Hifi plus plan when I first signed up: they used to give an extra payout to whatever artist you listened to most for the month on the plus plan. They sunset that program some time last year, I think? Since I do most of my listening on my Linux laptop, or when I'm on mobile data, I couldn't possibly be taking advantage of their highest sound quality most of the time I was listening, even when they actually had the things I wanted to listen to added to their library at the highest quality. Momentum just kept me on that plan.
Well, thanks to Fedi, I finally found @npub15gs…9ep4 last month, and I've been living in Groove Salad and Drone Zone, with detours into Thistle Radio and Suburbs of Goa pretty often.
So I decided to bump my Tidal plan down to their regular Hifi, and put the difference towards SomaFM. Kinda want a shirt too, but not enough of them come on ladies cuts (and especially not the purple glow in the dark one that I'd really like) and that's fine. I don't really need another shirt anyway.

@npub1w73…2zce You must have jumped in after I blocked her, because I don't remember seeing you in that thread... though to be fair, we've been hyper active in that little pod the last 24ish hours, and it was a little hard to keep up with everything happening.
As far as I can tell, she was blaming me for attracting the spammer by setting up the group in the first place? But the spammer didn't even come from the group, and the group wasn't even working right because the server doesn't seem to be working right. (And I did a little poking around, the fedi handle the creator lists is an alt, the primary account doesn't resolve, and the last time the code for chirp social had any changes pushed on github was 10 months ago, so I'm not holding my breath for the site to start working correctly.)

Welp, that was fun.
I attempted to start a group on chirp.social for the circle of Star Trek people I interact with on the RP account. I picked chirp.social over Guppe Groups because I liked that they gave you the ability to block users from the group, or let you approve membership, but I'm not sure if we just caught them on a bad day or if their server is always like that, but everything was taking soooooooooo long to happen. I honestly should have bailed when the join form didn't give me any sort of acknowledgement when it accepted my second attempt to sign up, and I only realized it had worked on the third attempt when it told me there was already a group associated with my email address. >.>
Anyhow, while everyone was trying to get connected to the group and try out posting and all that, one person started spamming the group trying to get it to work, and then a spammer tooted at a thread where she and I and one other user were all mentioned (but the group wasn't), and she flipped on me about the spammer... and I ended up blocking her after I reported the spammer to my instance admin and had the report forwarded to the spammer's instance.
So, that's been my day. I'm honestly surprised that I just kinda blinked at her over reaction and blocked her, given that it's shark week. Two of the others in our circle did check in on me and I appreciated that. Found some good people over there, so worth trying to see if Guppe groups can be made usable... but the lack of moderation tools concern me.

@npub1sfl…gczt I legit had someone reach out to tell me I'd be a "perfect" fit for a job they were posting, and when I told them I don't waste my time applying to jobs that don't post a pay range, they had the nerve to tell me they don't waste people's time by posting it. It's like, my dude, it saves everyone time if you post it, so no one has to spend time on the interview process if you're not going to pay enough. You just don't want to post it because you're gonna try to low ball me, and we both know it. You're hoping that after going through the interview process, you'll have worn me down to the point where I will just take whatever insulting number you offer.
I ended up having to report him to Indeed because after that exchange, he still hit me up two more times without having added a pay range to his job listing. Then I found out Indeed told him I was the one who'd reported him and he came back at me. So, thanks for that Indeed.
Sorry, that turned into a mini rant. TL;DR: I feel you.

@npub1sfl…gczt I mean, she clearly waited until after you all could get a refund on the AirBnB, so she was probably hoping that would motivate someone to drop the cash to "fix" it for her in order to avoid wasting that money.
Painting people into a corner like that is going to make people less likely to help, not more. Besides, the best price for domestic flights is six weeks ahead of time, so the time to ask for help would have been the beginning of October, when it would have cost the least, not less than a week ahead of time when prices are going to be the worst for one of the busiest times to fly all year.

@npub1sfl…gczt They have my favorite pasta shape. I literally could not find it anywhere for the longest time, so I ordered the 10lb bulk option, and have a huge glass jar in my kitchen. Of course, maybe six months after I did that, Target appears to have realized the gap in the pasta market and started carrying them too.

Obviously this is intended as a fallback if the job you really want is stupid enough to not hire you, but are there any other positives that might help nudge you into action? Is there anything you can do to address the negatives of the job that might make it more tolerable if you do end up needing to take it? Working through them ahead of time, even just hypothetically, might help.
