My mutual was talking about how he's been putting in the work so that he can hopefully start bringing in money so he can pay himself and others for the work he puts into the project, and this reply guy just rolls up and starts lecturing about how 'if you love something, you should do it for free' and like, My Dude.

I tried to point out that not everyone has the privilege of enough income and free time to do something for the sheer love of it, because we live in a society that assigns no worth to people unless they're producing "value" (whatever the fuck that actually means, usually just $$$ for rich fucks, tbh). It's just so fucking maddening and I should have known he wouldn't listen.
